Hello all - haven't posted here before, but I do follow many of the threads.

I've been doing Cathe workouts for a while, and **love** Xtrain, To the Max, and Cross Fire. I'm wanting to add some more workouts to my rotation, and would like some advice -

Thinking about the MMA boxing and/or MMA kickbox. Have seen mixed reviews, but the preview clips look pretty interesting. I am loving CF, TTM, and the XTrain Hiit and Tabatacize, but it's a little hard on my knees, and I really only have Hard Strikes for a "sore knees" day. I really like the idea of more complex kicking/punching combinations (jab-cross-hook-upper gets boring!). Are these two workouts different enough to warrant buying both? And what is the music like?? I am loving the music in XTrain, TTM, and CF, and really need good music to keep me going.

Also looking at the Hiit DVD - but is this different enough from CF, TTM, and All out Hiit in Xtrain? And again, what is the music like?

Would love any advice anyone wants to share - thanks in advance!!

:D Kathy :D

Hi Kathy,

Welcome!! I don't really have much advice. I enjoy all of Cathe's workouts and music isn't a big deal to me. And everyone has their own opinions too. Kickmax has a low impact premix (thinking of your knees). Have you viewed her preview clips of the workouts you're interested in? HTH!

Have u looked at KPC? Kick punch crunch? I have not had the ones u are thinking of getting. I do have kpc and really love that one. Music is important to me as well. But really in kpc it isnt music like xtrain but it has a driving beat to it. Check that one out. I hope someone can help u on thhe other two!

Thanks all! im looking for a little of both, and focusing on the kickboxing because I find it not to bother my knees too bad even if it's high impact. for example hard srikes bothers my knees much less than all out hiit even though its low impact. i figured if i put in more kickboxing i could mix it up with the hiit and tabata styles (which i love) and have less knee stress, but I want to keep variety. thsnks again!!

I like doing Afterburn and Cardio Supersets from the Low Impact Series. Also like alot of Ilaria's Powerstrike workouts, very easy on the knees. For me the drills in the MMA workouts bothered my knees a bit.

If you're looking for kickbox, I highly recommend Kick, Punch, & Crunch. It's super fun! MMA Kickbox is a good one too, but it's alot less intense than KPC. It's really good for days when you want a good workout, but also want a break from the higher intensity workouts. I just love the Heavy Bag Bonus on the MMA Boxing DVD.

KPC is the best kickbox DVD Cathe has ever produced. Cardio Kicks is also fun and mixed impact. Kick Max is HIGH IMPACT because of the drills section in it, which has nothing to do with kickbox really and I have never understood this workout. Still.....some like it!

Hi. I would also suggest KPC. The first half hour is high intensity drills, and the second half hour is kickboxing combos. The combos are for sure lower impact and interesting. I actually like to do the first, high intensity part of KPC and follow with Hardstrikes for a solid 1 hour workout. I just amp up the first warm up section in Hard Strikes (I also have ankle weights and wrist weights on). The new kickboxing one that can be Pre ordered looks fun too.

I have the HIIT DVD and like it. They are all high impact and plyometric, though. Since they are short, I like to combine them with something else. This month for my cardio Plyo day, I am combining a HIIT with Core Cardio Circuit. It's another one you might consider that would add variety to what you have - it is high impact, though. I am also using Intensity this month. It has a low impact section in it and is on the order of CF and TTM, but different enough. I think the HIIT DVD is different enough that it would be a nice addition. You can combine the HIITs together, or with another workout. They're pretty versatile. I'm liking the Intensity and Core Cardio Circuit too. They for sure give me variety.

I have knee issues as well and am looking forward to trying the low impact series in the near future.
