Recomended skin care products (teenage boy's)

lulu68

Cathlete
Hi,

I'm looking to get a complete skin care products for my boys, for mild acne and just to get them in the habit of taking care of there skin. Does anyone know of any good brands? Thanks!

Hi LuLu68! At first glance you might think this is a product for women....but if ordered in the gray color and with facial cleansers that are for sensitive skin, you will be SO HAPPY you did. I have mild breakouts plus sensitive skin and this product made a HUGE difference for me. This product is backed by tons of scientific research and cleanses my face like nothing I have ever used before. If interested read here. Then you can browse the site for even more fascinating info. http://www.clarisonic.com/benefits/cleanses-better.php

Good Luck!

OMG - I have the Clarisonic and LOVE it! Swear by it. I've always had good skin, but using it has made it even better. I concur with Cathe on the item.

I'm with lulu68 in that our (just barely) 15 year old son is having a horrible problem with his skin. We've tried lots of OTC stuff and I am wondering if I need to take him to a dermatologist. (I'm also very frustrated with him because it seems that I am bothered by his horrendous acne much more than he is.) We need help!
Thanks Cathe and NY25; I'll look into that.

I will have to check into this as well. My 13 yo has mild acne and we've just been buying the Clearisil wipes for him. DH had VERY bad acne as a kid that left a lot of scarring and I am trying to nip that in the bud if I see it start to get worse than "mild acne". Thanks, Cathe (and lulu for asking).

Also want to chime in and say that I LOVE my Clarisonic. Got it from QVC as a Today's Special Value. I rarely had breakouts before, but had problems with oily skin and the Clarisonic has REALLY helped. I don't think it's a "ladies" product either (my DH really wants one).

Also, what about those ProActive skin care products? They're supposed to be really good for problem skin.

I found 2 less expensive options to the Clarisonic this morning (I hate to spend that much for my 15 year old as he rarely likes or uses what I want him to use!!!!! If it works for him, I will consider getting him the Clarisonic)
Oil of Olay brand has just come out (this month) with a knock-off called Olay Professional Rx. It is a hand-held unit with a 2-speed cleansing brush. 2 AA battery operated. The kit comes with batteries, 1 brush and a sample of Olay Exfoliating Renewal Cleanser for $29.99. Replacement brushes are 2 for $9.99 They are new and very popular but I finally found them in stock at Wal-Mart.
A second option was by Neutragena; a battery-operated unit that uses a disposable exfoliating pad. It comes with 12 pads and I found it at Target and Wal-Greens for $39.99 28 replacement pads were $19.99
I bought the Olay with brushes (the brushes are soft, and my son has sensitive skin).
Hope this helps!

Looks like Clarisonic Mia is Saturday's TSV on QVC

lulu68 and Laura, I "think" the Clarisonic Mia (which is the mini version, for the face only) is going to be the Today's Special Value on QVC for Sat 12/18. I saw a teaser ad for that today. The Mia is still on the pricier side of things, and I totally understand the concern of spending the money for a teen boy who may or may not follow through with using it. But you could always just get one for yourself!!! They really are wonderful (sheesh, they should pay me commission!).

Thanks for the tip Lisa! I've never heard of this product but after you mentioned this and after I browsed their website, I found myself over at qvc ordering a cute new berry Mia for myself, to be delivered by Christmas! (gotta love the easy pay!!) Guess I'll hug hubby and say "thanks, how did you know what I wanted" ;)

P.S.

Wanted to add that I guess no sleep and being up since 2am doesn't help when it comes to "miscellaneous shopping" ha! I not only purchased this (which I didn't even know I needed but now I do ;)), but I preordered Patrick G's Lean Hot Body from Collage Video! Geesh, what is next?!

Denise,
who must get in a nap or do something energizing today!! :D

(I think I will go try to do Turbo Fire 55EZ followed by High Reps, maybe that will be a good start, unless I fall asleep midway!!)

So I went into the website and I see differnt cost and colors. How do you know wish one to choose? I have good skin, Normal/dry and very rarely breakout. Also does it come with the cleanser or do you use your own? I've also heard great reviews about the DDf's revolve 400 microdermabration. Do any of you have it...what do you think, thumbs down or up? Thank you!

That is an awful nice gift for the son's GF! Now is he gonna say it is from "him" or "you", lol!!

I can't wait to try this! When hubby finally got up I told him that getting up so early is DANGEROUS and that I had already purchased 2 things and was looking at a 3rd, ha! He just laughed!

That girl is gonna have one terrific Christmas!! ;)

I think so! She has wanted a recumbent bike for a few years now, and he was not so sure it was a good gift to give a girlfriend. I convinced him it is a good gift -if she asked for it!!!
I really like her:), and I know they will marry eventually(hopefully give me grandchildren!). They both graduated college this year.

OK Lisa la machine, Denise, fit 44, lulu68, NY25 and Cathe,
Thanks, I think! Because of all your excitement and "help", I, too, have jumped on the "bandwagon"! I ordered 2 (!!!) Mias from QVC; one for the teenaged son and 1 for me. (I'm justifying my double purchase with the following; if elder teenaged son doesn't use it-tho he may not get a choice considering the cost!- younger teenaged son would actually love it!-he just doesn't have acne yet)
Nice girlfriend gift!!! She must be potentially more than just a girlfriend! BTW-the zebras and jaguars are now backordered so you did good getting in early!
Thanks ladies! Now I, too, am off to research Rob Glick and Patrick Goudeau. This forum site is costing me a lot of money!!!!

I hear ya! Like I said, I didn't even KNOW I wanted a Mia until I read this thread! ;)

Now, if you like Patrick, jump on over to Collage Video and check out the coming soon section. You can see a clip of Patrick's upcoming Lean Hot Body---you'll be pulling out that credit card again!! :D
