what can i say? i am one proud mama! not to mention, that every single one of them were strays that were going to be killed! what a tragedy that would have been.

Hi,

I agree with the run/walk approach and gradually build up. Galloway has a great plan as does Hal Higdon www.halhigdon.com. He has running plans from novice to intermediate. Good Luck and make sure to get some music going with the running; it really helps.

PS - AWE LORIE!!! Quit flaunting those VERY CUTE PUPS! I'll have to come to Atlanta and steal them all! OMG Linus is just the cutest guy ever! But your other babies are lovely as well...

Jennifer - If you like Jeff Galloway, check out his summer running camp retreat he holds in Lake Tahoe every summer. I think it is usually in July at Squaw Valley (Near Truckee - up I-80). I've always wanted to go and someday I will do it. Check his website for the info.

I do have question for all you runners that run in a TM. What speed do you run at? I just started running and I put the speed at 4.0 and the incline at 2.0. Was wondering if I am doing it right.

All treadmills may be different??

I jog at 6.0, which is a 10 minute mile. But to "run" I would have it at, say, 7.5 give or take. That is more like an 8 minute mile. My treadmill, at a 4 speed is a 15 minute mile walk. It would be too hard for me to jog at that pace.

HOwever, My treadmill at my place of work is more like a 4 for running...?? So who knows??

I only run at the gym....their treadmills 4.0 would definitely be a brisk walk. I "need" to run at about 4.8, but that is a pretty slow jog....maybe it depends on how long your stride/legs are?

maybe all TMs are different. if mine is at 10.0, then i am doing a 6 minute mile (i only do those speeds for hiit) but 10.0 would correspond to a 6 minute mile. 6.0 on my TM is a 10 minute mile.

my warm up speed is 6.5 (but that's because i use iTread and do what grace tells me) and i am comfortable running at 7.2-7.5 for steady state.

the bottom line is, DON'T worry about what anyone runs at or what your settings or anyone else's are. just go by how you feel. if you can take it up, then do! if you run for, say 20 minutes, look at your total mileage then put your time and mileage into a pace calculator and you will get an idea of the settings along with your pace.

i am reading chi running by danny dryer right now (and even highlighting it...yes, i'm a geek) and it is REALLY changing how i think about running. i highly recommend it.

Laurie,

I think I will order the chi running book. Another question what is a good incline. I run at 2.0, and sometimes I get a small twinge on the knee.
