Question about the original IMAX vs IMAX2 and 3

I just bought the Rhym. Step with the first Interval Max on it. It was a fun, shorter workout that still managed to kick my butt. Are the other two IMAX workouts the same format? Are they the same length of time? Is it worthwhile to buy the other two?
 
The other two IMAX workouts are basically the same format, with 10 intervals including a step routine repeated 4 times (with minimal breakdown) followed by a blast. The length of these tend to be between 50 to 60 minutes.

It is definitely worth it to buy the other two, with IMAX 2 being my favorite. The nice thing about IMAX 2 and 3, is that Cathe breaks up the blast usually into two distinct moves, rather than the one move in the orginial IMAX. For instance, in IMAX 2 one blast includes doing knees around the world, and then hopping 8 times on each leg, and repeating the sequence several times. In the original IMAX, the blast is just the hopping on one leg, without the other move (knees around the world). I like the additional move because it breaks up the tension that occurs with repetition, but is still very challenging.

Hope this makes sense. And perhaps a video clip would have enough of a blast segment shown so you could see what I mean.

Also, LowMax is a great workout that is like the IMAX's but low impact. This workout only has seven intervals with the step segment parts more broken down. This is a 60 min workout and really targets the legs and glutes!

If you like interval training IMAX 2 & 3 would be nice additions. All three feel a bit different even though they are set up as noted in the post above. IMAX 2 & 3 have premixes :) .

IMAX 2 is soooo much fun and has C&W on the same DVD.

IMAX 3 really kicks it up a notch in intensity and the rest is shorter between intervals.

I gotta tell you, if you liked the original IMAX (which I absolutely HATE! It's too hard for the amount of cals burned! If I'm gonna do something that hard I want a big payoff! ;) ) you will love 2 & 3. I think of all the IMAXs 3 is my favorite.
 
LauraMax, I'm with you. I hate IMAX 1. It's way too exhausting for me and I end up not getting a great workout because I have to stop so often. IMAX2 and 3 are great though

Guys, thanks so much! I feel a bit better about having to stop twice last night while doing IMAX. :) I love that she breaks up the moves in IMAX2 and 3 as that was the hardest part for me. It's not that I can't stay anaerobic that long, it's that it's too hard on my knees.

It sounds like it's worth it to get the other two and I'll look into LowMax too.
 
When my body is a little tired I reach for IMAX 2 and 3 - when my brain is a little tired I reach for IMAX 1. Not that I can do any of these workouts when I'm truely tired, I just mean that I find 2 and 3 more taxing on my brain as the combo's change, and 1 more taxing on my body as they don't.
But I love all 3 - and LOMAX - that one is a lot of fun and the not jumping kicks my but just as much but in a different way as/than the jumping.

IMAX 2 is fantastic. The music, the choreography, the blasts make time fly.

I love the music to IMAX 3, but some of the moves were just too high impact for me, so I did not keep it.

I am not saying IMAX 3 is not a great interval workout because it is, but I prefer IMAX 2 and the original IMAX.
 
I love Imax 3! It is my favorite of the three! I DO think the original is the toughest...I guess b/c the same move within each blast is done over and over...it is just plain TOUGH to me. Imax 2 and 3 are tough and I love them, but I would say Imax 2 is the least tough of the 3 but still tough. Did I say tough enough?!

I agree with you 100%. Imax 3 is a very difficult workout, cardiovascular wise.

I prefer IMAX 2 to IMAX 3 because of all the high impact in IMAX 3.

Tough! That surely describes IMAX 3.
 
I like the original IMAX, but the sound quality is terrible.

I like IMAX 2 the best, then the original IMAX, then IMAX 3.

Low max is awesome!
