Ques about CTX

I was thinking of purchasing this series (89.99:eek: ). But, I wanted feedback. I'm thinking of getting it because it is used a lot in her rotations and I'm tired of subbing. However, it looks like the cardio in these workouts are more intermediate. Am I wrong?

IMO, the cardios are not intermediate. They are short - just about 30 minutes, but VERY intense. I think the hardest two are probably 10*10*10 and Step and Intervals. Kickbox is very intense - it builds intensity just like most of Cathe's kickboxing routines. Power Circuit has a little less cardio because it includes weight ciruits, but it really keeps your heartrate up there. And All Step holds a special place in my heart as the first Cathe step video I ever did. I thought I'd never get the choreography down, but I finally did. This is a great set to have when you want to do a one body part a day split. You will not regret purchasing it!

Thanks for posting about this. I have been wondering the same thing. I am sure I will break down soon and buy this DVD!! I have never regreted buying anything Cathe.

I agree: the cardio is short, but intense. Lots of impact. Lots of step with impact. Too much for me to do without modification (as much as I LOVE the weight work in this series, I almost invariably get sore knees when I try a CTX rotation).

This is a great series. You won't be disappointed at all. The cardio is mostly in the 25 to 30 minute range, short but intense. The "Power Circuit" workout is a little longer and has good variety (Hi/lo cardio followed by a step segment, blast & circuit segment and kickbox step, blast & circuit segment).

You can mix and match the workouts as you please to make your workout as long or short as you wish. I usually combine the kickbox workout with the kickbox power circuit segment. In one rotation, Cathe had us do three of the aerobic segments our our choice in one workout. I don't think I made it through the third one.

Additionally, if you want a total upper body workout split, that's on the dvd as well. It is a combination of all of the intense daily 10 minute "one body part" upper body workouts into one workout. It's tough.

Leaner Legs is also included in the package, if you want a lower body split day.

There is also a combination of the daily ab workouts. I think the plank work is included as well.

I enjoy all of the workouts in the set but my favorite workouts are "Step and Intervals" and "All Step."All Step" is so fun to do once you get the footwork down. The blast segment at the end is a real goodie --2 sets of power 15's then 2 sets of power 7's then 4 sets of power 3's. (As Cathe says, "Oh do we have to?!?)

Try it you'll like it. :9

Thank you ladies. I ordered CTX plus Pure Strength and can't wait to get them. I have yet to be dissapointed with a Cathe purchase. I recently began doing Cathe's rotations (which are great) and these two series are used a lot so it'll be nice not to have to find a substitute:)

It is one series that I always reach for. If the cardio is too high impact just modify it. I modify everything that's too high. At my age my body can't stand high impact! Ther is something about the way it's organized that I really like!

Teals:

You said that the upper body split that combines all the weight work is included in the DVD. I was under the impression that it was not. Can you tell me where to find this?

It's on the second disc.

This is a great series, and it is not intermediate, by a long shot. The upper, lower and core work in this series is just terrific, and doesn't require a lot of equipment.
