Push up challenge

Hi everyone! How many of u guys have done this? I need to come back & do it again but I need motivation! Who wants to do it? Maybe Cathe has some good ideas to motivate us! Hmm....
 
I have never done a pushup challenge. Push-ups are a good exercise though so I would be game to try it.
 
I'll give this a go, sounds interesting. What do we need to do? Do we start a thread in Check in's and Challenges?

BTW, I thought the Push-up challenge was Meso 1 :D
 
Ladies there's a push up challenge at workout manager that u have to enter your number. My last attempt was 55 push ups but haven't done it for a while but since I'm doing STS again I might be able to do it but I'm sure it will take time to beat my number.
 
I found it under Cathe's challenges. Would anyone be willing to make this a weekly or monthly thing with the goal to increase the number by some percentage each week or month? I need motivation to do pushups on a regular basis....maybe we could start a checkin thread to do it like mini-natty suggested.

I agree. I have no motivation to do push-ups on a regular basis (unless they are part of my w/o for the day). I hate them, I dread them BUT I should try and do them more often. Summer is coming!!! Bust out those tank tops!!!

55 push-ups buneknek???!!! In a row???!!! No stoppage???!!! You are a champ. I'm lucky if I get to 25 and collapse on the floor :eek:
 
I agree with mini-natty. Meso 1 (I'm starting week 4 tomorrow). Did 125 last week, throught the workout.
 
Let's do it!

All right ladies! I say we do it! How about we do the push up test once a week every Friday or Saturday with a goal to increase by 10% each week? So, if you can only do 10 right now that's only adding one more for the first week!

buneknek - 55 is pretty awesome. I am not certain I could even do that many in row with the bent knee modification. I have done every pushup in STS so far but they were almost all modified to be on the knees.

Sure! I'm in! But I'm not a fan of doing it in the w/o manager. I have no one to talk to there.....just plug in my #'s.....so lonely and impersonal. I would find it more motivational if I could read how other Cathlete's are doing and motivate them along the way too.

TRSTACIE I don't mind starting a thread to check-in weekly from there. Fri or Sat sounds great. Anyone can join in. I think it would be fun! Let me know :)

Same here ladies I hate doing them but if you want weekly check in then I'm in! Thats what I'm talking about! Let's see I we can recruit more people on this forum.

Maybe I will join in too. I am not in any "check ins" and am feeling a bit left out. I don't really like pushups, I actually dread them, so maybe I need this!

In 4DS, Cathe does what I'll call the crazy eights of Pushups - 8 full, 8 partials all the way down and then halfway up, then onto all the way up, 8 partials half way down. After about 4 times doing the workout, I am finally only on my knees for the last 4. But that final push to all the way up to finish the last 8 just about kills me. (If you have 4DS hopefully you get this, if you don't you are probably saying HUH???)

I just don't understand how Cathe and her crew can bang out so many. I still haven't done STS because of it (that and the fact that completing my 1 rep maxes is overwhelming!!!)

Sounds like fun - I'm in! I'm not in any check-in's either. It'd be fun to take part in something like this. Wait - did I just use the word "fun" in relation to push-ups?!? :p I used to do all 72 pushups in GS CT .... used to being the operative word here. It would be awesome to work back up to that again. Right now I'm at 16 pushups, 2 sets of 8. A month ago I could barely do 4 of 'em.

I never dived into the 'challenges' portion of the workout manager. Interesting! I just looked into it this evening. Oh, the things you learn via the forums! ;):p
 
hmmm maybe I need this. For me, it's a challenge just to do the full pushup from toes at all, haha. there's my challenge!
 
Hi everyone :)

Since everyone here seems to want a check-in, why not a regular check-in (not necessarily push-up related) but of course we can do the push-up challenge too (I really need it :eek:). No pressure, you can check-in daily, weekly, whatever your schedule will allow. Seems like a great idea :)

What does everyone want to call it? Any idea's?

Susan-I know what you are talking about. Cathe does push-ups like that in Muscle Max and I think Muscle Endurance too. I cannot figure out for the life of me, how they do all of those! The partials just kill me! Push-ups are very humbling I find. In every w/o, I think I'm doing great, and then the push-up section comes, and I bow my head.

I would love to join as well - I really need to get back to doing push-ups on my toes!! I would bang out 20 when I did P90X a few years back but not any more.

I have found that "check-ins" help keep my workouts on track.

I'd like to join too, but I can barely do a single one unless I'm on my knees! And I really need to get off of my knees. I think a regular check-in would help keep me accountable & inspired by you all. :)
