Push It

I'm back. I just finished my leg workout. The last triset has deadlifts so I skipped those since I just did back yesterday. I was so wiped out at the end I had to pause and catch my breath. Then I moved on to the ab work from Butts and Gutts.

Happy Sunday :)

Hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend :).

Today's w/o was Imax3 intervals 1-6 + Imax2 intervals 7-10. I wanted to change it up a bit . What I failed to realize is that I had just completed those horrid plie jacks in Imax3 and had to do them again in Imax2. What the [insert swear word] was I thinking??? That has got to be the hardest cardio move for me EVER! At least I went out with a bang today before active recovery.

Today we headed over to our new leisure center. Holy impressive! 2 NHL sized skating rinks, Olympic sized pool, kiddie pool, water slide, gym w/running track, weight room, basket ball court. Bella and her daddy went swimming. I watched some kids play hockey, which was really cool. It's so wonderful to see the community being so active. I also took a peak into the weight room just to check out the action ;). They have several fitness classes I can join, but I'm on the fence about that.

Heartymax
I'm sorry to hear about your son. I can't imagine how scary an asthma attack must be. When kids suffer from medical conditions, it truly breaks your heart.
Have fun at the cookout ;). Resisting fatty delicious food takes a lot of will power that's for sure! Just think of your vacation and looking hot in your bathing suit ;).
I think it's very good that you allow your children to pick their activities. I know a lot of parents that don't do that and then the kids end up dreading the classes and drop out anyway.
Stacie
Bella uses the chamber too but it's not for asthma yet, just chest infections. I believe it helps her tremendously. Whenever she gets a cough/cold, I can hear the wheezing in her lungs. Unless she uses the puffers, the cough won't go away and she is susceptible to infections. Poor baby :(.
I hope you are enjoying the w/e with your sis, niece & nephew. It was super cool for you to workout with your nephew!

Have a great weekend ladies :)

Natty-----you are a brave soul:eek: I know I would have just fast forwarded the workout straight through that second set of plie jacks. That new center sounds fabulous. A great place to take your family.

The cookout was fun. I didn't over eat but I did enoy some goodies. I resisted the hot dog, so I had no bread----but I enjoyed the other carbs in pasta salad, macaroni and cheese. There was plenty of fruit so I got to enjoy some of that too. I was there for several hours so had a few tastes of desserts as well. I had a great time without feeling guilty about what I ate.

I got up this morning and my quads are so sore from the STS leg workout yesterday. It is usually hard for me to workout after an STS leg day but I was determined to push through it. I managed 45 minutes on the ellipitcal so I am feeling great. I squeezed in 25 push ups after that and now I am exhausted.

Happy Memorial Day everyone!

Did an hour long bike ride with husband on Saturday, Kick Max on Sunday, and Cardio & Weights today. Those intensity drills in Kick Max are killer. I did almost all of them. Missed two jump tucks and the last set of jumping lunges at the end. It's just not fair to put those jumping lunges at the end!! Those are killer.

Natty - I haven't decided between the squat rack or plyo legs yet. I see benefit in both, but not sure what I will do. Which are you going to do? Ummm...Imax 2 AND 3...crazy girl...LOL!! I haven't done IMAX 2 yet, but I'm thinking of doing it tomorrow.

HeartyMax - sorry to hear about your son. That sounds scary. I'm glad he didn't have to stay at the hospital. Hoping for a speedy recovery!!

I was dragging this morning and did not want to get out of bed for my morning workout. Thankful DH called me a slacker before he headed out to work. :D Just enough to motivate my behind to get out of bed!! M2W3 Chest, Shoulders and Triceps. I wanted to do some planks afterwards but my shoulders were so exhausted already until i could barely hold he plank.

Hope everyone enjoyed the Memorial Day weekend. Back to work.

Toni---it has been a long time since I did Kick Max. I can't remember the drills:rolleyes: Just kidding!

Good morning everyone. I survived the weekend! I didn't work out for three days but today I hope to do Low Impact Circuit....maybe Low Impact Challenge should be LISLIC? Anyway, sometimes I don't think it's all that bad being single especially when you watch married couples fight all weekend long. It was nice seeing my family even though it got a little stressful at times with the arguing.

HeartyMax
I am soooo sorry to hear that your son had an attack. They really are scary aren't they? My son has been hospitalized a couple of times because his asthma was so bad. During his last hospitalization they said that his O2 levels were so bad that he was losing brain cells. Sometimes I wonder if that's how he fell behind in school. Anyway, I hope your son is doing better. Did he have to go on the oral steroids? I try to avoid them as much as possible but sometimes I have no choice (like this last time).

Natty
The new rec center (that's what we call them here -- recreation centers) sounds amazing. There is a whole city here called Highlands Ranch and the entire thing has a HOA. They use the money to maintain these terrific rec. centers that sound similiar to yours. I think you mentioned that the town you live in is kinda small so that's awesome that they still provide great places like that for the residents!

Toni
KickMax can be pretty intense. Can you believe that I have read reviews on KickMax from people that say that it was too easy and that their heartrate did not even get up? I have to wonder if they are doing the same workout I am sometime. Honestly, even Cathe's intermediate workouts (LowMax, LIC) get your heartrate up. These people must be related to Superman!

So everyone....I was bad again. I bought more Cathe DVDs. Step Moves, Althetic Step, and High Step Training arrive this week. I almost feel like an addict -- I simply cannot resist getting Cathe DVDs! At least I can say I have done 95% of them! Have a great day everyone! T-2 until STS round 2. Woot!

Hello ladies :)

Enjoying my active recovery so far. Yesterday I brought Bella over to my aunts house to play in her sprinkler. She has always been a water baby . After we came home, I did 30min of Rhythmic Step. That is one tough sucker (choreo wise). I am determined to dust off some of my Yoga video's and do them this week. My flexibility is like a brick these days .

BTW, I was perusing through The Skinny Rules (Bob Harper) at my aunts house. It's very good. He makes a lot of sense. His approach is simple and straightforward. I copied his banana-blueberry-protein pancakes and made them yesterday. They are VERY tasty :p.

Stacie
Why are Cathe workouts so addictive?? I was "eying" Low Max yesterday lol. I keep having to remind myself that the new workouts are coming out, so I'll have 2 kick butt cardio's coming my way, plus I need more weights for STS, especially the weighted vest.
I think you are gonna love Athletic Step! It's pretty awesome actually. Step Moves is fun too. The choreo is not that difficult IMO.
You're starting STS again in 2 days??!! Are you going to pyramid down?
Toni
I am 99% sure I will be doing squat rack, I just have to buy the damn vest!
Did you know that you can just do plyo legs minus the weighted leg work for an awesome hiit workout!
I used to go bike riding religiously with my DH before I had Bella :(. A couple that plays together stays together :).
DO IMAX2!!!! You've never done??? You'll LOVE it!!
Heartymax
I'm like you when I go to someone's house to eat. I like to sample a little bit of everything, guilt free.
Great job on the push-ups! You are still going strong . Kuddos to you for doing that 45min elliptical after an STS leg day .

Have a great day gals!

Natty
My bad....T-2weeks! Less than 2 weeks now! Next week I will do all the 1RM tests instead of the active recovery week I had planning on. With all this talk of running on this forum and at work (one guy just completed his first marathon!), I am actually thinking about turning my dog walking time into dog jogging time! :D That would be on my non-STS days.

Stacie---My DS is doing much better and yes they have him some oral steroids while he was there and it really helped. He continued to take a lower dosage for 3 days at home. My DH is actually thinking about starting to run outside again. He just started back exercising. I think it has been 9 weeks and he has lost 15 pounds eating healthier and using the elliptical 5 to 6 days a week. Glad you enjoyed your family----like most families---you enjoy each other for a little while and you are thankful for the many months break that you have a part. I don't like the stress of issues with some family members either. It is what comes with our loved ones though. :D

Natty---Cathe's workouts are so addicting. It is hard not to want every single DVD. Just resist the temptation---enjoy the workouts that you have and reward yourself here and there with something new. In spite of my love for Cathe, there are some that I just don't care that much for. But I thought I just had to have them. Glad you are enjoying your rest week.

Today was 45 minutes on the elliptical for me.

Hey all. Yesterday was IMAX2, which was my first time. I'm not sure doing two high impact workouts in one week was a smart idea. And I'm pretty sure that trying to do IMAX2 yesterday followed by Muscle Max today was also a bad idea  Live and learn. My body is TIRED. I did the bent over rows with the same 40# barbell as Cathe. I managed them all, but my back and neck feel like they are in a knot. I think I will go over and get a 20 minute massage just to work the kinks out of my back and neck!!

I am excited I managed all the barbell curls with a 30# barbell..that's a new weight for me esp being able to complete the entire set. Tomorrow is some sort of easy steady state cardio. Maybe Step Blast without the blasts!!

HeartyMax - there is nothing like someone calling you a slacker to get you going...LOL

Stacie - No, I cannot believe anyone thinks KickMax is easy. The kickboxing portion is not bad. But when you add in the intensity drills and THEN the kicking drills...holy cow. I'm terrible at the kicking drills at the very end. I know they are slow and controlled and should be somewhat doable, but I simply can no longer lift my leg anymore...LOL. I can do anything that has the leg in a bent position, but anything with a straight leg is just laughable!!

I am totally a DVD/fitness equip addict as well. I JUST had to talk myself out of buying more...LOL! I forced myself to write down all the cardio I have(including premixes). When I did that, there was no way I could justify getting more. But I still want 'em...LOL!!

Natty - I just read in the STS forum that someone did BOTH plyo legs and squat rack  I think I can see how that is doable, but boy oh boy would I be tired. I'm still deciding. I plan on doing one HiiT workout with plyo in it, so I may do the squat rack. On the other hand, the squat rack workout looks...ummmm boring. Very few excercises and I truely hate static lunges..LOL!! We will see. I think I'm going to do the PLB DVD because I think that is similar to the squat rack and see what I think. Oh and I'm JEALOUS of your recovery week :)

Good afternoon everyone! Last night I was attempting to do Push/Pull when my son woke up. He walked in while I was doing barbell rows with his hands on his hips like an angry parent and asked me why I wasn't in bed. He really is a riot. When I was still tired this morning I got a lecture about not going to bed early enough because I am doing Cathe DVDs. Maybe I should go to 1st grade class while he comes to work! Needless to say, I didn't finish the workout at all since I had to get him back to bed.

HeartyMax
I actually see my family all the time -- usually at least once a month. Maybe that's why there is so much drama all the time...our time is apart is not long enough so that our hearts grow fonder if you know what I mean.

I am jealous of your elliptical BTW! You keep mentioning it and I think about how awesome it is that you guys have one. I used to love the elliptical. Unfortunately, a large machine like that would never fit in my apartment!

Toni
Muscle Max is toughie! Even doing something easy would still make you tired! Way to go on the curls as well. It's an awesome feeling to match Cathe!

The squat rack workouts were very slow. The breaks between sets are 2 minutes or more. I personally loved those workouts but I have to admit that they are not for everyone!

Have a fantastic day everyone!

Good evening ladies :)

Today's w/o was a 2 mile walk + step only premix from SJP (26min). I love Cathe's oldies step stuff. It always makes me :).

I gotta make this short. I will be back tomorrow morning to write responses.

Have a good night :)

Back to write responses!

Stacie

Your son is so friggin' cute!! I can just picture him lecturing you :). I also feel bad because I know how precious uninterrupted workout time is :(.
Jogging with your dog sounds great. I admire runners/joggers. They always look so free, without a care in the world.
Are you starting M3 and working your way down?
Heartymax
You're right about the DVD's. I appreciate your honesty. I like how you and Stacie were so honest in OD about CTX.
I'm glad to see your son is feeling better.
BTW, did you do squat rack or plyo legs? I meant to ask earlier. Did you see a noticeable difference in your LB? I really want to tighten up my legs, so I'm thinking squats and lunges w/heavy weight would be the most beneficial.
Toni
Yup, squat rack is all squats and lunges. I can see myself loving it, like Stacie. You know yourself the best, so do what's best for you!
OMG curling 30lbs!!!! My biceps bow to your strength .

Have an awesome day ladies :)

Good morning ladies. Not much to say on the workout front. It has been absolutely crazy with school ending and getting ready for our camping trip this weekend. I feel like I have so much to do and I am not getting any of it done. We did plant the garden last night -- finally! I didn't realize we had gotten so many squash plants though. I seem to always screw up like that. The first year there were too many zucchinis...the second year tomatoes were coming out of our ears. Now this year will be the year of the squash!

I am experiencing some DOMS in my legs from the short Push/Pull workout my son interrupted. I also had some soreness in my abs...I definitely attribute that to the squats. Oh how I love squats! I am so jealous that Toni is getting a squat rack. I have been thinking about getting a heavier vest just so I can do heavier squats.

Natty
I plan on doing a regular 3.5 month rotation. I still want to do P90x. I am checking ebay constantly to just buy my own copy rather than keeping my friend's for a longer period. People are crazy on ebay though. I see them sometimes bid higher than what the dang thing would cost brand new!

See ya later everyone!

Hello all!! Not feeling too energtic today and I have some DOMS in my legs, but I'm not sure from what  I opted for Rhythmic Step for some steady state cardio. I didn't very little arm patterns and little to no impact except where you have to in order to do the move. That made for a much less intense workout and I quite enjoyed it :D I'm supposed to do some type of total body workout tomorrow, but I'm not sure my legs are up for it. It's either going to be Muscle Endurance or KPC. We will see how I feel when I wake up tomorrow.

I am uber excited....squat rack and Pace Weights have arrived!! I will be able to use my squat rack for my 1RM test now. I can do 40# squats with no problem on all of Cathe's videos and she does way more 12(don't get me started about those low end ones!!). So not sure how much I can lift with just a normal 12 squats. In the past I've been able to do a 50# squat(at the gym with a smith machine), so I may try that. Either way I'm excited :)

Stacie - too funny about your son!! Hard to even be upset that they mess up the workout when they do something cute like that!! Wish I knew you were in the market for P90X. I just sold mine to my Brother-in-law, who may never use it. I would have totally sold it to you...sorry. Enjoy your camping trip...sounds so fun!!

Natty - I previewed the squat rack and plyo leg routines. Hmmmm...I may actually also try to do them both in a week  I was planning on doing one high impact/high intensity workout a week anyway(something like IMAX), so this could just replace that. I'll see how brave I am once I get that far :D

This morning was M2W3 Back and Biceps. Biceps are burning.

Natty---once you get through STS, you will be amazed at your improved strength and increase in poundage. I do not have the squat rack DVDs. I love Plyo Legs. I noticed that my thighs leaned out when I did STS. At the same time, I was also doing one leg workout a week for at least 6 months prior to doing STS which is not something I have ever done in the past. At the end of Meso 3, my shins were bothering me so eased up on the leg workouts for a while. I continued with my upper body and cardio but I could tell that my thighs didnt look as lean as they were when I was consistently working them once a week. That is why I try to make sure that I keep that up. To be honest with you, I don't plan to every buy Squat rack legs. There are only so many routines that you can do with the legs when it comes to lifting. Same exercises-----different weights and reps. I could easily make that adjustment on my own using Meso 2 if I really wanted to just lift heavier. I don't think I want to squat any heavier because I believe it may bother my knees and shins. I love Plyo legs.

Toni---did you do some back exercises. They can fry the legs too.

Dropping in very quickly to share a pic of the new squat rack. Hope no one minds. Very excited. Now I think tomorrow I will work on more 1RM tests instead of a normal workout!!

Good morning ladies :)

Yesterday w/o was MMA Kickbox. Ha, I finally found a use for it! STS recovery steady state cardio! That was bad hun? Actually, besides dancy combo #3 (which I just can't wrap my brain around), it was pretty fun. The ab section at the end was perfect. I was looking on youtube at CatheTV, and she was talking about recovery week and how we should enjoy any cardio we like, but NO weight lifting. I thought hiit and intervals were out of the question? I wouldn't mind doing hiit Pyramid or something this week.

Gloomy day here. Rainy and cool. Yoga or steady state cardio later on.

Toni
LOVE your workout space! JEALOUS of your squat rack! That's awesome though, congrats. Since I don't have room for one, perhaps I can request Greg as my spotter ;).
I hope you are feeling better today.
Heartymax
I already have squat rack as it came with my STS bundle on The Daily Deal when I snatched it up. Otherwise, I don't think I would have purchased it separately. I understand exactly what you are saying though. I'm like you as I need to do at least 1 leg workout/week. Two would be optimal actually. Did you ever do two during M3?
Stacie
It's great you have a green thumb. Fresh garden veggies are 2nd to none!
What's so special about P90X? Anything Beach Body and people jump on it like white on rice!
Hope you have a wonderful camping trip :).

Have a great day all :)

No workout for me today. Had an evening program at school....and didn't sleep well last night....but was sound asleep when it was time for m to get up. DH always know when I don't sleep well so he stays extra quiet when he gets up at 4:15.

Natty----ROTFL about Greg being your spotter :D. I agree with you....on the two leg workouts. I have just never had time to get in to. There was a few weeks where I added on 30 minutes of a leg workout to one of my cardio days when I was doing a round of STS earlier this year. I just don't have more than an hour to give any given day so it is so hard. Sometimes on Saturday I will do a 90 minute workout but it is only when I am playing catch up from skipping something during the week.
