puppy update

lesliemarie

Cathlete
took the puppy into the vet and all looks ok, he is weak and still sick but the vet says he should snap out of this in a day or two. He says it is a reaction to his vaccinations, they said in some bad cases they give a steroid shot to help with it but he isn't that bad. He came home and felt good enough to play for a few and then I put him up to rest more. Pushing the water on him and soft food for the next few days, You can say he is going to be spoiled rotten LOL. that is the way I like them LOL

Very happy to hear that, lesliemarie- you must feel relieved. I know how I feel when one of my fur-babies gets sick...:-( We'll be thinking about him and you. Give him a kiss on the head for me!

Elizabeth:) :) :)

I am so relieved! he wants out to play but I don't him to get use all his energy just yet, so he played with his blanket instead LOL he still sleeps alot but I am so happy he is going to be ok

A true blessing....I am so happy for you and your cute little puppy. They happen to be a huge weakness for me....give him lots of hugs and kisses...:)...Carole

Missed the first post, but glad to hear puppy is ok. What vaccinations did thet vet give? We don't give corona, lyme's or lepto as they vaccination is usually more harmful than the 'disease'.

Give him a big kiss from me.

The vet never did tell me what all was in that shot. I was going to ask him today. The puppy has come around fully! he is so cute he is orange with a white chest and white kissed paws. This morning he got my hubby's sock and was running around the room with it, was too cute! when they weighed him he is just over one pound, can the small weight have anything to do with that? That morning was horrific, I almost lost him and thanks to all the prayers and the great care I gave him he is now a healthy cute little pomeranian puppy. Thank you all for your great and kind words, Me and the puppy really Appreciate it :)

His weight could definitely have something to do with it. I believe a vaccination size/amount is the same for all breeds. Since he did have a reaction, they might want to consider doing separate vaccinations and not doing them all at one time. Glad to hear is ok and being a normal puppy :) Also, how long after the shot did he have the reaction? Maybe ask the vet if you can stay at the office for awhile. My vet actually requires that we stay 30 minutes or so before we head home, especially if they get a rabies shot. Altho I know sometimes the reactions take longer than that.

He sounds adorable!! I know a few ladies who run poms in agility and they have the cutest personalities!!

It so warms my heart to hear about your puppy. I bet he is adorable, and sounds like a cutie...:)...Carole

So glad your pupper has bounced back! I have 2 dachshunds. Last year my youngest had an allergic reaction to his vaccinations - his whole face puffed up and he got hives all over. Boy was that scary. So this year the vet split up his vaccinations, a week apart, and gave him a shot of Benadryl prior. That did the trick, no reaction whatsover.

My other dachshund - oh boy! I got him from rescue in 2002. His original owner had neglected him (Grrrrr!!!) and the poor little guy had trenchmouth and had to have most of his teeth extracted. Then this past Oct. he had a ruptured disk and had to have back surgery. Then in Jan. he had to have surgery for 2 small perineal hernias. But he's a trooper, has fully recovered and is the happiest dog I have ever seen. He looked kinda silly for awhile with no fur on his back or bum but it's all growing back now. The surgeries set us back $5,000 but I would have paid $10,000. I just love my dogs more than anything.

Give your little pom a smooch from me and have fun with all the silly puppy things he does.
