Progress, not Perfection !!

Morning Ladies :)

Yesterday was such a restful day, I did not do any cleaning or laundry just well deserved rest. :) Howerver I did get up in the evening and attended 2 dance classes at a local dance studio, from 6pm - 8:30pm. That was sooooo fun, good low impact cardio. I registered to take the classes again next Thursday as well.

I would have thought my Glutes would have been sore yesterday from the Butts & Guts workout on Wednesday, but they were not. Does that mean I did not work them hard enough? I am starting to feel the same as Fnv, I want to feel some type of discomfort the day after I work a muscle group.

I took a look at my collection of exercise dvds and boy do I have a varitiy, more Cathe dvds than anything else. There is one more dvd I would like to get this year and that is Zumba. Maybe I will ask my son to get it for me for christmas. ;) I need to look into getting myself a dvd organizer.

Today I am going to start the deep cleaning of my house, one room per day. I am going to pull the stove and fridge out, shampoo the carpet in the bedrooms and the livingroom. This is going to be a lot of work that is why I am only going to do one room per day. Maybe I can get my son to help me and if so, we could probably complete everything the same day. My house is small only a 2bdrm 2 full bath enough for me and MY Junior. ;)

Tomorrow is Saturday, I am going to see if I can catch up with the running group. I gave my number to one of the ladies but she has yet to call me.

I've been busy.... did some treadmill this morning at the gym and this afternoon I'm doing Decluttering Max.... lol

Deanna - so glad you enjoyed your first day off yesterday. I do understand the impulse to give the house a good cleaning, because that's what I'm doing too. But do have some fun on your days off too !!!

What were the 2 dance classes like? Sounds like fun !!!

It's dark and cold and windy and gloomy here today... no rain yet, but it's supposed to rain overnight and half of tomorrow.... so cleaning is a good chore for this weather..

My food choices have been horrendous the last 2 days... I need to have a talk with myself and get back on the right food track... geeze.. it's so easy to get off track....

Hi all, Friday is my cheat/no workout day which I enjoyed even more than usual since I've been doing fairly well this week! Back at it tomorrow!

"See" you for coffee in the morning ;) Does anyone have a Keurig machine?? I LOVE mine!!

Could I hire you two to come clean my house??!! I have a bathroom in the house that I simply dont use b/c I just dont want to clean it!!
 
Morning Ladies :)

I am up slowly moving around the house. I stayed in bed all day yesterday catching up on my well deserved rest. I did not get up in time to catch the running group this moring, maybe next Saturday. I have not exercised since I attended the two dance classes on Thursday. The name of the dance classes I took where Soul Line Dancing (similar to Country Line Dancing) and Chicago Stepping.

Susan I know you suggest that I do something to enjoy myself on my days off. Relaxing at home with no time restrants is enjoyable to me. I get up do a little and go back to bed or do not get out of bed at all. Now that is enjoyable. :) LOL

I started on my Kitchen this morning. I also have a pot of beans on and I am going to back some chicken wings and cook some rice to go along with it. This is going to be our dinner today and tomorrow.

Okay let me start on the Landry and continue my house cleaning. You ladies have a blessed day.

Today I tried my new kickboxing workout and made it thru the first 3 combo's and 3 drills. It was a great workout! I then do Cathe's CoreMax stability ball workout skipping the leg pulls b/c they're too hard on my wrists. I was feeling energetic still so did 3 miles on the treadmill, mostly walking at varying inclines, that took about 50 minutes. I had too much pizza last night so thought I could use some extra cardio today ;)

Tomorrow I plan on doing the 4th and last combo/drill from the kickboxing workout followed by the 15 min upper body/light weight drill segment and the ab work. Then I'll do biceps and triceps from 4 Day Split b/c that is what is on the rotation for the week.

I'm planning on taking Monday off. Next week I have to work some extra shifts so I'm not going to follow my rotation, I'll just do some circuits or whatever I have time for.

I'll check back later!
 
Good morning ladies !!!

Sorry I'm late for coffee.... I've been surfing the Internet reading about healthy food choices... I sure need something to give me a kick in the butt and change things up.

Sooo.. here's what I have decided to do :p Since my downfalls include Wheat Thins, bread, cupcakes, etc. i.e. foods made almost entirely out of wheat and sugar.... and... because I have an addiction to those things... i.e. if I eat a little bit, I can't stop myself from eating a LOT of it.....

I'm going to entirely eliminate wheat and sugar from my diet. The only sugar will be from naturally occurring sugar in fresh fruits and veggies. Call me crazy.... but I think that will help.... I start today.

Anyway.. that's what I've been doing ALL morning. I found a lot of great gluten-free info and even though I don't think I have any serious aversion to wheat/gluten, I do think I might have a sensitivity to it. I do know that I feel a LOT better when I don't eat wheat and sugar.

Deanna - I am so happy that you are getting this nice 5 day mini-vacation. You need to spend it anyway that will make you happy !!! And it sounds like you are, so enjoy enjoy enjoy !!!

Stacy - you are kicking butt !!! Literally.... lol Keep it up.

As for me.... Since I haven't done a weight workout in 2 weeks and today is total body workout on my schedule, I'm going to go back to Total Body Sculpting from the Beginner Rotation to ease my body back into using weights. My back feels totally healed, so I'm ready to get back to work.

Did anyone see this rotation that Cathe posted in answer to a question? Other than not having Cycle Max, it looks like a great rotation. I may try this one after my friend's visit is over..

Good morning !!!

It looks like everyone is having a busy weekend, me included.

Today it continues... I'm going to the gym later for step class and the rest of the day I'll be doing Cleaning Max. I've done all the decluttering I'm going to do for this round. I have more left to do, but I'll leave that for the next time I get motivated. So now that I have less "stuff" it's time to clean !!!

I was completely wheat and sugar free all day yesterday. I'll continue for this whole week and see what happens... I know I won't be able to keep it up while my friend is visiting, but a week should give me a good idea of whether or not the plan works...

Hi girls,

Susan, have you started previewing new workouts? I like your food conclusions (what your plate has become compared to before) and now your choice to get rid of the white stuff. Any way you can sneak out of the house at least 3 times a week and hit the treadmill for a hard 30 min while your friend is here? This stinks, coming back from Zero (again).

Deanna, another one of the ways you inspire me is with statements like "a well deserved rest". I really appreciate your ability to do the right thing and follow thru!

Stacy, your come back is also very inspiring. I wish we all could get together for a tea and a workout!

Off for a walk or something, not sure what else will manifest today. If I can keep my head above water for the next month, I will be ok.
3 mile walk jog sprint done and also 1/2 of Supersets.

Good afternoon, I've been lazy today! I'm finally getting motivated to workout here soon. I'm sticking to the workout plan I talked about in my last post, though my abs are a bit sore from yesterday's Core Max, but I dont think too sore to work them again today.

B---bowl of shredded wheat and skim milk
L---nothing yet
D---planning on eating at my inlaw's so just going to stick with the main course and a veggie, which is usually a side dish, skipping any starches, breads and dessert there might be

Yesterday I sat around watching football and ate too many potato chips and breadsticks :(

I had a good first week overall despite the past few days, but time once again to make healthier choices! Susan, good luck on the no wheat no sugar. For me, it's more about avoiding carbs in the form of potatoes and pasta and bread and just anything in general made with flour.

Deanna...how is your day so far?

FnV, I was just thinking the same thing, that we posted at the same time!! I also think it'd be cool to meet each other! Your words are too kind when you talk about my "comeback", to me, it's just starting over "again"!

A Keurig is just a variety of the single-cup (K cup) coffee machines out there. I just love the convenience of it!

I've had mine for many years and it was one of the best purchases I ever made (non-fitness of course)

Speaking of best purchases, I think my new kickboxing workout has taken top billing as my all-time favorite workout! (Sorry, Cathe)

Good afternoon -

I'm taking a quick water break/rest from cleaning.... I'm making progress.

They have a Keurig coffee machine in the lobby at the vet's office, one at the place where I go to get my mammograms and one other place that I can't think of at the moment. I really like them in those places, because each person can choose which kind of coffee they want.

I hadn't thought about getting one for home, although I know that a lot of people have them. For now I'll keep using my trusty Mr. Coffee... lol. When it breaks, as they always do eventually... I'll have to do some research.

Aren't the single serve coffee packets expensive though???
 
I buy my K-cups from the Keurig website in bulk so they're cheaper than buying them in the store. I'm guessing it's more expensive than making a pot of coffee, but I always ended up dumping most of my coffee down the drain that I made in my coffee maker. I then started going to Starbucks before work, but the line was long and the coffee was getting too expensive. Even if it's a bit more expensive, it's worth it to me b/c I'm not going to Starbuck's and I'm not wasting a pot of coffee anymore.

As for "Progress not Perfection".....I was NOT anywhere near perfect at dinner, ate a biscuit and 2 desserts! Where is my willpower??? As for Progress, I've progressed to using 20 lb dumbells for some of Cathe's bicep work now!

Not planning on weighing myself til at least mid-week!

I hate my coffee after the first 30 minutes. I only make about 4 cups at a time. I was thinking about getting a new coffee maker with a thermal carafe. Now I wants what Stacy has!

Actually, I've never used one, so maybe I should try one next time I go to the orthodontist office w/ kid. (they have one) I usually nap in the car.
 
OK ladies, its 630 and I've completed a 3.5 mile run. Slower pace than normal, my body isn't used to cardio this early. : ) Have a good Monday, bbl

Great job on your early jog !! and Stacy - great job on your new kickboxing routine !! And 20 lbs on biceps???? Wow !!!! I can't even begin to imagine doing that. Wow !!!

Grandma here is sore from a combination of step class and Cleaning Max here. But not too bad... lol

Today is all Cleaning Max. This is the big push... Coffee is finished and I'm ready to go. I'll check in during breaks from cleaning.

I hate "old" coffee. I'm a big coffee drinker (although I switch to all decaf mid-morning) but I make it in small batches. Only enough to drink at one time..... The Keurig would be perfect for me... hmmmmm.......

2 full days with no wheat and no sugar... and I do notice a difference. I have more energy. Even without the wheat though, I am eating enough carbs... fortunately, I love oatmeal and brown rice.. much healthier alternatives. I bought some quinoa last shopping trip, but I haven't tried it yet.

Deanna - I hope you are thoroughly enjoying your vacation !!!!!!! You have earned it.

Hey Ladies,

Today is my last day off and I have not done anything but rest...lol I am forcing myself to get up today and clean up. I said I was going to do one room a day, that did not happen. There where days that I did not get out of bed other than to eat. I got out of the house yesterday met up with a friend and had lunch.

Okay just wanted to pop in and say hello. Tomorrow is back to work and back to exercising. Since I have not done anything, I am going to start slow with Cardio all week probably Kickboxing. I do not feel like using my step. I am also going to get the Zumba dvd this week. I have been researching it on Youtube and it seems really fun.

Okay let me get back to cleaning. I hope you guys have a blessed day.

FnV, way to go on the run!! One day I hope to be able to run that far non-stop with no knee pain!! And I love the simple mantra...."water, Just Do It, STOP IT!" Seriously, what more needs to be said???

Susan...I love my coffee machine, my Keurig finally quit a year ago (after 5+ years) and right now I have a Cuisinart, I love them both!

Deanna...good for you for taking the rest you need. It's good for the mind, body and soul! Have fun with Zumba! I've eyed TurboFire a time or two.

Me...my Progress is eating some veggies for dinner, had chicken breast with sauteed mushrooms, red pepper and shredded carrots, and I turned down 2 mini chocolate bars, a mini cupcake and some candy corn at work.

My not Perfection is I ate some candy corn at work, and a small brownie.

I weighed in today after a few days of bad eating and my weight was up about 3 lbs, but down 1.6 lbs from where I was last Monday!

Today was a rest day for me. Not sure yet what workout I'll be doing tomorrow!
 
Hi guys !!!

Been cleaning all day... with lots of breaks.... and I'm just plain slow... soooo.. made good progress, but have lots left to do. I'm really being thorough. Real honest-to-goodness fall cleaning. Moving everything and getting cobwebs up by the ceiling and washing rugs and mopping and scrubbing and just doing Cleaning Max - the Extreme Version... lol It feels good. I do this twice a year and the whole house sparkles for a couple of weeks. The rest of the year I just do a quick vacuum and dust and clean the bathrooms and that's it...

Anyway... the end of day 3 with no wheat and no sugar. I don't know if it's because I'm so busy cleaning or if the no wheat/no sugar plan is really working, but I have a whole lot more energy. Time will tell. No workout today.. just Cleaning Max.

Deanna - you needed a good long rest. I'm glad that you got it and that you enjoyed it thoroughly !!!

Stacy - why did you get a Cuisinart instead of another Keurig? Just curious... in case my Mr. Coffee breaks down.... :p

Off to find something quick for dinner...

I got the Cuisinart this time around b/c the cup size went down to a 4 ounce setting, my Keurig the smallest cup size was 6 ounces. I use the 4 oz setting and put my bowl of instant oatmeal under the spout and 4 oz of hot water is the perfect amount of hot water for my morning oatmeal, so as you can see I use it for instant hot water in addition to coffee!
