Stacy - sending lots of hugs your way !!! I think you are doing really well considering that you just spent a weekend with the family and all that unhealthy food. That was tough and you've come through a bit down, but not out..... so good job !!!!!
Deanna - As FnV said.. just keep your side of the street clean. You can't change them... only your attitude towards them. Doesn't mean you have to give in... just means that you have to realize that they aren't going to change and you need to make your peace with that. Given the current economy and unemployment rates, probably not a good time to go job hunting
And yes... I think FnV has it exactly right ...lol. You can thank your co-worker for inspiring you to work out harder....
FnV - since you are currently reading Primal Blueprint, I have decided to read Wheat Belly first... then we can compare notes !! Are you reading Primal Blueprint or the Primal Blueprint 21 Day Transformation? I've got the 21 day one .....
here's where I'm at.....
I also am doing really really well on no grains and no sugar.
It has been surprisingly easy and I'm feeling much better with no wheat.
I keep hearing about the "carb flu" from the change in eating habits and am ready for it if and when it strikes. Some people seem to get it early on and some don't get it until they've been eating this way for 3 or 4 weeks.
Protein at every meal - beef and shrimp mostly and a little chicken.
Only dairy is Greek yogurt and the half n half in my morning coffee.
I've varied my fruit some lately... was only doing berries.. now I've added back oranges, apples and bananas. I needed more variety.
I was doing really well on veggies Sat thru Tues. Yesterday.. not so good.
My goal is 2 veggies and one salad per day... and.. I'm not going to be so focused on trying to eat a ton of different veggies each day. I think if I eat different veggies each day, then the variety over the whole week is what's important. so one veggie with lunch, one with dinner and a small salad with one meal too.
The 2 big differences that I see between Primal and Paleo are:
1) Paleo advocates lean protein. Primal advocates more fat.
I believe that I will fall in the middle. I do know.. from the last several days.. that it is the fat that makes you feel full so that you aren't interested in snacking or eating processed foods. But some on the Primal message boards, IMHO, go overboard on the saturated fat. So I shall stick to the middle of the road on that one.
2) Primal is more lenient on other foods. Both plans stress protein, veggies and healthy fats (olive oil, coconut oil, avocados, and, in moderation, nuts. I have not tried coconut oil yet... it looks gross....
Where they differ is that Paleo says no dairy. Primal says dairy is okay unless you have issues with dairy.
Primal says a little white rice every now and then won't kill you. Paleo says stay away from it 100%.
Research continues
Okay.... I think I shall bypass the gym today... my friend is not going today... and go downstairs.. right this minute and do Muscle Max Upper Body Premix !!!
back later with a report
Make it a great day my friends..
We CAN do this... we ARE doing this.
Progress, not Perfection !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
