PROGRESS NOT PERFECTION: Month 1

Merry Christmas my friends !!!

Deanna - so glad you are feeling better !!!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day. I'm about ready to get dressed and head out for Christmas dinner. I'm going to eat whatever I want, but try to be sensible about portions... lol. We'll see how that goes...

I weighed myself this morning... down 2.5 pounds since starting this Primal/Paleo eating plan 8 days ago.... must be something to it, cause I haven't worked out all that much.

We'll see what Christmas dinner does at the weigh-in tomorrow morning :p

FnV - haven't done my biceps yet.. must go do that before I hit the shower !!

I ate too much too!!!!

I got a Kindle for Xmas so may reconsider getting the Primal book as it is only about $8 on the Kindle.

I got 2 new workouts as well...a barre workout from Tracey Mallett and a newer one called Strong Stride, cant recall the name of the instructor offhand but there is a new clip up at collage.

I did manage 3 miles on the treadmill before my food fest...alternating 1/2 mile walking with 1/2 mile jogging.

Weigh in is sure to be ugly!!!!!!!

My parents are coming to visit tomorrow so probably will be another day of too much food...Month 2 is fast upon us so time to get crackin' the whip on myself!!

Deanna...glad you are up and about.

Susan...congrats on the weight loss!

FvN...hope you're doing well!!

My plan for this week:

Food

Lean Protein (every meal)
Veggies
Healthy oils (olive oil, avocados, nuts)
Fruit

and that's it - no other kinds of foods !!!!

Workout

Monday - Upper Body with Cathe
Tuesday - Cardio at the gym
Wednesday - Lower Body with Cathe
Thursday - Cardio at the gym
Friday - rest day
Saturday - Total Body with Cathe
Sunday - cardio at the gym

One week.... I can do it for one week !!!!

I'm calling it a night..... see ya for coffee ....
 
Good Luck to you Susan, I'll do my best to join you with your menu plan. Probably will be a little tough with my parents here but I'll try!!

I think I will join you with Upper Body though, will add abs too! What are you doing? I'm planning on PUB!
 
Morning :)

Up taking meds for my cold. I felt okay yesterday and went out with a friend and I think I had a set back. Today is my last day off so I will just shuffle around the house and relax.

I hope you all had a great Christmas.

Stacy - the Kindle sounds cool. My brother has one and loves it.... I think I'm going to do either Supersets Upper Body Premix or STS Total Body Upper Body Premix..... it will be one or the other..

The scale says that I've gained 1 1/2 pounds in the last 24 hours :eek:

Must be water retention from all the "bad" foods... lol. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :p

that's okay... I had fun...

Now it is time for serious dedication to the cause !!!!

I'm off to the gym to do some moderate treadmill, then home to do upper body and stretch !!

After my last post, I closed my cathe.com window. When I just came back, my tracker thingie is now showing my new weight....

midday report -

did treadmill
went to Yankee Candle for their semi-annual sale and then made a Walmart run (I do that once a month) for shampoo, cleaning supplies, paper goods, etc.

Came home and ate lunch... so haven't done upper body yet. I'll give my lunch time to settle in, then I'll hit my upper body workout.

Food so far today:

Breakfast:

Coffee with FF 1/2 and 1/2. I'm going to use up what I have, then switch to regular half n half. Too many chemicals in the FF version

1/2 cup FF Greek yogurt
7 whole almonds

Lunch:

Leftover ham and turkey from Christmas dinner that I brought home.
Leftover sweet potato casserole
Leftover mashed turnip/carrot mix
Mug of decaf coffee with 1/2 n 1/2

There are probably some ingredients in the sweet potato casserole that are no-no's (like sugar), but I wasn't going to throw it out.... lol

Boiled shrimp and a big salad on the menu for tonight...

I need to find a recipe to make my own seafood cocktail sauce. The store bought kind has too many additives.... I'll use up the half a bottle that I have.. but then start making my own....

My parents just left, lunch was leftover ie. high carb stuff and xmas cookies my mom brought. I had to just eat them, turning down my mom's cookies just hurts her feelings, was easier to eat them and move on!

I changed my mind this morning on the upper body workout b/c my shoulders were still a bit sore from doing LIC upper body premix the other day as sad as that is! But, that's what happens when you dont workout for awhile.

So, I did my new workout Tracy Mallett's "Booty Barre Plus Arms & Abs"....this is another barefoot workout that kicked my butt ala Turbo Barre! I did have an arm section that I started out with 5 lb dumbells, dropped to 3's and at one point didnt use any weight! The lower body workout was great and unweighted and the ab work was also great! I was sweating and had to stop to stretch my legs out a bit during the barre section. This workout is a definite keeper! After doing Turbo Barre a few times and then this one, I'm trying to find a way to incorporate these type of workouts into a rotation. However I would need to add in a bit more pure cardio, a heavier upper body routine and then I'd love to be able to fit yoga in as well. I need a 8 or 9 day "week" and to quit my job I think to fit it all in!!! I had dabbled with a few barre/pilates type workouts in the past but didnt get much out of them, it's obvious now I hadnt stumbled upon the right ones! I think I need to rest my legs a bit before trying my other new workout.

I did end up skipping weigh in this morning, seeing myself in the mirror was motivation enough, I didnt need to further bum myself out with seeing an ugly number on the scale!

We're meeting some relatives from hubby's side of the family at a Mexican restaurant tonight. So many barriers out there to eating right :( Luckily, I dont care much for mexican food so I hope to be able to maybe order some plain chicken or something, salads bother my IBS so not sure what I'll be ordering. It's a place I've never gone to before so I'm going to see if they have an online menu before we go and do some planning ahead if possible!

Hi, I did a check in inspired upper body STS Total Body. I could have gone heavier, but my first time so that is fine and I can check it off. I also did an enthusiastic bike ride, about 8 miles I think. Didn't notice the time.

Primal guy seems to like moderate cardio, some hi intensity cardio, and short heavy weight sessions.

I went back and lied to my WM b/c I didn't want my wt gain posted everywhere and I have posted in open forum today. : P

Stacy, I am glad you enjoyed your new w/o. It sounds fun! I feel overwhelmed when I think of a world beyond Cathe, at least right now while I am trying to get jump started on diet. I have thought the same thing about needing a longer week. Hmm, what if you made your rotations a week and half long?

Deanna, how are you feeling today? I hope Santa brought your co worker some good attitude!

Susan, I like all your food ideas and you also said...Now it is time for serious dedication to the cause !!!! which I liked a lot. : )

Evening :)

Went to Walgreens and spent $56 on Meds for cold and buy one get one free vitamins. Got me some EmergenyC, B12, Potassium, and Biotin that was the vitamins, the meds for cold Mucinex Severe Congestion & Cough, Zicam and NyQuil.

Doing a little laundry, going to change the linen on my bed take a shower and call it a night. Tomorrow is work, so I am going to medicate myself and go to bed.

Up getting ready for work, but before I leave the house I am going to take my cold meds and vitamins. Not sure when I will be able to start exercising again, hopefully before the New Year.

Good morning, it's starting to snow here! It's the wet mushy stuff and nothing is sticking to the ground, but still pretty to look at!

I caved and ordered Primal Blueprint on my Kindle last night! I havent started reading it, but I'm going to try go Primal today and start breakfast with scrambled eggs mixed with a diced red pepper and some turkey sausage (not sure how Primal it is since I havent read the book yet, but I know it's protein and veggies!)

I'm not going to weigh myself until next Monday, my love handles are showing me a little too much love in the mirror! When I start losing weight, those are the first to go and the first to show up when I'm gaining so in a week I might be ready to face the scale once I get my diet more in order this week!

Not sure what's on the workout agenda yet....maybe some kickboxing. My body is feeling a bit tight so maybe some yoga instead. I have worked out 3 days in a row now!! Now I've get the diet thing goin'!!

Susan, we have similar shopping ideas, too. I hit the bath/body store at mall for sale on candles and home fragrance. I also do a big walmart about once a month for similar.

My Wheat Belly is here from library, too. Maybe bike to pick up? Reading Primal Blueprint-I think the insulin information may be the most compelling.

I completed High Step Training Advanced this morning. whew!

Speaking of supplements (Deanna), I wonder if I should add a fish oil? Is there a concise list of minimum supplements in 21 day plan?

Primal is against sustained high intensity cardio due to oxidative damage.

Susan, how did your day go? Tough when you start out feeling behind!

70 min of yoga? wowsers. How did you feel when you were done? I think yoga is more of a class thing for me than a dvd thing.
