Progress, not Perfection - 2012 - Month #1

I completed my workouts (I did the SG Cardio/abs express and also the Step Challenge bonus segment but didn't use any risers) It took about an hour from ding to dong.

Dad's here ~ Have a good weekend all, rest up Susan!

Great job on your workout FnV !!! Have fun visiting with your Dad !!

All is not lost.... I sat at the computer most of the day getting a head start on my taxes. I'm now as finished as I can be until the rest of the tax forms straggle in over the next few weeks.

so at least I got something constructive done... whew.... progress :D

I'm feeling better.. but that's what I thought the other day... so I'm not getting too optimistic.. yet....

Good morning, been up since 4:30am when work called. Ugh. Enjoying a cup of coffee now, but working all weekend.

Hope to get a workout in both today and tomorrow but dont know what or when!

I'll check back when I can.

Susan...how are you feeling today??

FnV...did you make soup??

Deanna...what's on tap for you today??

January was my workout focus, I'm feeling more confidant about pushing myself to get my workouts in. February is food focus!

7:30am PUB and abs done, yay! I used the same weight as Cathe, even for biceps (just had to take a few more pauses).

Off to work...blah.

Fantastic Stacy !!!!! You have done a great job keeping up with your workouts all month !!!

I'm having coffee... I seem to be settling into a "routine"... lol. I have trouble sleeping (stuffed head, stuffed chest and cough), feel like cr*p in the morning, start feeling better midday and by evening feel okay.... so hopefully, that means the end is in sight.

My goal is to do some kind of workout Monday morning.. even if it's just 20 minutes of walking on the treadmill.

Deanna - have you got a 5K this weekend????

FnV - enjoy your visit with your Dad..

Good morning, waking up with my coffee here.

I forgot I had a get-togther to go to early this afternoon so that threw a wrench into my workout plans b/c I said I'd make dessert to bring. So btwn that and I'm also working from home today (taking a break to go to my thing), not sure when my cardio workout will fit in. I was only planning on doing something in the 25-30 minute range as I usually cant sneak away from work-related things longer than that ;)

Hope everyone is having a restful weekend! I'm off to bake a dessert...

P.S. I got my 2 new workouts in the mail yesterday, Athletic Training and Afterburn. I've previewed them both, they look tough! I now own 4 new LIS workouts. I've got some learnin' to do!

Nice visit w/ Dad. I now have my old desk top computer set up and I'm trying to get any pics and files off of it before I find a new home for it (me and the 2 dds all use personal laptop). And I have to find home for old tv since he's gifted us with new. So I have freecycle and craigs list to do in order to finish those projects.

Today's cathe is MM and also dance class; I will check back in when I am able to report completion.

Deanna, where the heck are you????

Stacy, great job on the workout rhythm. Have fun at your gtg today. When you are working all weekend, are those extra hours or do you get time off during the week?

Susan, yea for taxes, an easy thing to procrastinate on, so good for you! I hope you have a strong start to your week on Mon. Are you going to start a new thread for us on the first?

OK, off to get sorted out post visitation and pre work week.

Morning Ladies

I have been lazy this entire month. I think I have gained back the weight I lost. I am going to reset my weight loss tracker. I am going to try to start all over again Monday January 30th, with that darn Insanity.

I have been eating everything in site. :( I need that cardio to burn the fat.

I will do better with posting, don't want you all to think I have given up nor do I want you to give up on me.

Deanna

Deanna we're all here to support one another and cheer each other on! Good for you for jumping back in!! I know you've had a setback but that's all it is, a setback. Life has it's ups and downs, what's important is that you dont stay down!

Susan...hope whatever exercise you do tomorrow goes well. It's hard getting back into the swing of things.

FnV...I'm salaried so it's not extra hours. I do get one day off during the week every week and I only work one weekend a month, most of it is from home on the weekends. I'm not thrilled with the hours, but the pay is decent and with so many ppl out there looking for a job, I sometimes just remind myself that I'm lucky to be making a steady income.

I probably wont be getting in my workout today as we have plans later tonight as well. I knew this week was going to be off the rotation a bit.

My week's accomplishment have been..

Monday--Rest day
Tuesday--most of BM2
Wed-- Powerstrike
Thur--Pure Strength Legs & abs
Fri--Rest day
Sat--PUB abs
Sun--Rest day

Tomorrow will be Turbo Barre with my new firewalker band/loop! Tuesday I may try out one of my new workouts, not sure which yet, maybe the Step Challenge.

BTW, Stacy, great job on matching Cathe's wts, especially on Biceps.

I completed Muscle Max today. I skipped dance for various reasons. I'm going into WM to put week 4 of The Susan into my WM calendar. I thiiiiiink after that I will do one of Cathe's LIS 2012 rotations....

Those workouts are hard (loaded w/ burpees, pushups, etc) but also hard for me to classify or pigeon hole. You can't point a finger and say, oh that is a circuit workout or pure cardio or pure wts to many of them. Hmmm.

Deanna, do the Insanity workouts have a fun or dread factor for you? We are all here to support you and we've all had periods of success and periods of ...well...crappiness! And of course everywhere in between. (I usually have the full range w/in a week, repeat, repeat, repeat....)

Susan you need some Chicken Soup! --and I didn't make any soup this weekend, : (

See y'all tomorrow~

Thanks, FnV. I definitely felt stronger this go round, even the set of 8 chest flies using my 20 lb dumbells felt easier...not easy by any means, just easier than last time!

I've read some posts about how Cathe's new LIS workouts are hard to classify. Some say they need to use heavier weights to achieve their own desired cardio level but that they cant b/c the weight moves go too fast. I'm not great on cardio endurance so I'm guessing these workouts will be tough for me even without weights! Not having done them yet, I'm going to go out on a limb and classify as them as cardio workouts and use them as such in my rotation.

I'm think I'll continue with The Susan rotation as the days and workout selections work out pretty good with my work schedule/hours most times. Plus with my upcoming half marathon walk, this rotation is forcing me to work legs more which is my weak area. One cardio workout each week will be a walk on my treadmill. I have a 3 month training schedule which calls for 3 walks a week, increasing the speed and/or distance each time. I dont have time to do that 3 times a week, but I'm aiming for just one day a week. My other cardio day I'm going to start incorporating Cathe's 3 new workouts I have. I'm still going to use Turbo Barre each week as well. This should keep me busy the next 3 months!

I'd also LOVE to drop a few lbs before the walk. I figure it might make me faster, and if not, that's still a good goal, seeing as my focus in February is better food choices!

I've rambled enough...G'nite!!

Re the LIS workouts, it does seem like I am working out at a lower end of my cardio range, in workouts like TB or Tri Sets, where I didn't expect there to be a cardio factor. But, if I am thinking Primaly, that is exactly what I want to do, spend more time in the moderate zone and stay out of the extreme high except for some sprints/Hiits a few times a week.

Not great sleep last night (I woke up twice) and today is a busy day. Oh well, I'll muddle thru and check in after I get my workout done (Turbo Barre).

Deanna, STOP Eating everything in sight! LOL and drink some water and take a walk today if you can. : )

Susan, how are you feeling this AM?

Stacy, I'd like to DROP KICK a few (dozen) pounds! Or at least a solid 10 to get started. Have fun training for your half marathon. That is 13 miles, right?

Coffee,Laundry, homework, shower, work prep--out the door, bbl~

Good morning my friends !!!

Deanna - we never give up on each other... never !!!!!

Stacy and FnV - great job on your workouts !!!

Deanna and I will get back in the swing here shortly :D I know that I've gained weight while I've been sick.

Feeling better.. but still not 100%. This thing is difficult to get rid of.... I've heard from more and more friends/neighbors who have had it that it lasts 2 weeks or more and I'm living proof that that's true... sigh. My head and chest are still very congested.. but at least the runny nose has stopped. But I'm having a terrible time sleeping.... as soon as I put my head down on the pillow, I start coughing. Even with cough medicine. So.. the last couple of nights, I've had to sleep propped up in bed with pillows.. like I would if I was reading... not a comfortable way to sleep, but at least it lets me sleep for a couple of hours at a stretch.

Anyway.. this too shall pass......

Keep the home fires burning !!!! I need to see the light :D

I am soooooo sick of being sick.... and I have zero energy.... sigh

ETA: I find the LIS workouts to be extremely difficult... the few that I've tried.... and I'm unaccustomed to using weights with cardio..... the day after a weight workout. I just can't do it. Someone asked that question in the Ask Cathe forum and Cathe said to just do them without the weights if the weights are too difficult... So that's what I'll do.... But.. I must say..... even though I'm thoroughly impressed with the variety and uniqueness of the LIS series, I'm beginning to think that it is just too advanced for me... at least at this stage... but I'll keep plugging along with them and modify .... a lot... lol

I woke up this morning with a headache and drippy, sore throat :( This time doesnt seem like the false alarm illness like last time. I usually get over my colds fairly quickly so hopefully this wont hang on too long. There's alot of ppl I know with pneumonia, maybe you should get yourself checked out Susan.

Even though I'm tired and would rather crawl into bed, I'm going to go and do Turbo Barre in a few minutes and then reward myself with a soak in the tub. I dont feel quite sick enough yet to justify skipping my workout altogether....that kinda sounds messed up when I reread what I just wrote!

Deanna...how are you doing today???

I'll let you know if I survive!

It wasnt pretty, but TB is done. I skipped everything on the "floor work" section except pushups. I had to take a few more pauses than usual during the rest of the workout.

If I'm feeling up to it, I'm going to do my treadmill walk of 4 miles.

Now to find some much-needed food...

Turbo Barre completed, but honestly I slacked thru it in a few places, partly because I just worked hard doing MM yesterday. I think I will consider subbing BG floor work or something like that next time TB comes up. I think this was my third time. The core work was to my liking though. It isn't that I dislike the TB so much, but it is harder to push thru on that type of workout...easy to not keep leg high, easy to whine about support leg, easy to slouch. I guess I'm saying that it takes focus to persevere rather than muscling your way thru it and I was already tired and non enthusiastic.

Susan, I agree that the LIS is hard to modify down, it seems like (well, it is for me in places) like it is so much that it is discouraging to do the workout. Why don't you do the beginner rotation again or the one that comes after it, perhaps subbing in LIS workouts for variety as you are interested? It just seems counter productive to be trying to do a rotation that isn't very do-able.

Tomorrow is LIC! One of my faves! But I usually do step only premix....

Hope TB goes well for you Stacy. Deanna, how are you doing today? Don't get down on yourself, just try to do the next right thing.

LIC is Low Impact Circuit. I call the other LIS LIC or LICH since I love LIC and think it deserves to keep its name. : )

Good morning, woke up with some body aches, head congestion and a throbbing headache, but my throat is not as sore today. I'm hoping I feel better as the day goes on.

I have a 4 mile walk on my quasi half marathon training schedule planned for today. We'll see how that goes.

FnV...is LIC Low Impact Circuit or the new Low Impact Challenge step from the new series??

Here's an article I thought was kinda interesting. It's written by a member of the videofitness forum who has her own blog and some online workouts etc...

My Diet Update | Being Leaner and more! | myomytv.com | Free Fitness Blog

I'll check back later.

4 mile treadmill walk done, on 1 degree incline. Took 70 minutes. 5 mile walk is on the schedule for next week.

I'm making some chicken noodle soup this afternoon. It treats what ails ya!

Low Impact Circuit done! Love love love. Even doing it as a circuit instead of the step cardio only. In fact, I don't know if I could have done that premix justice and doing it as a circuit really accentuated the "blast/sprint" factor.

Stacy, I quickly read the blog/link. Interesting...wouldn't you love to look lean like her?

Deanna, how's it going? Stacy's blogger link gal drinks lots of water...I think I'd do better if I had more water on board most of the time.

Susan, how's the cold coming along? I think you need some of Stacy's soup.

Newsletter had a leptin article I haven't yet read, but Leptin is a buzzword on Primal...

I hope you all are having a good one~

Add 3/4 of a dance class to my workouts today. Tomorrow is off and I pick up on ...??? something come Thurs.
