PROGESS NOT PERFECTION...Knockin' November OUT!

Mommy...I want my Mommy...

just did GSLegs with increased weights, the whole thing.

there will be no dog walks today.

Just finished Hi-Reps, it was pretty tough! I skipped the lunges, dips and disc work, those all bother too many creaky joints. It was a tough workout in its own right but I was also feeling weak from being a bit under the weather. I already feel sore!

Weigh-in today, down 6 lbs now from the start of my "diet" which was October 8th, slow and steady progress is better than no progress!

Tomorrow I work a 11-12 hr day, so planning on no workout tomorrow, but do plan on getting up early on Friday and fitting something in before work.

i will be getting my hands on high reps one of these days. i need to sell my old Firms that i don't want to do ever again because they are a stupid ridiculous waste of time!

I have the old FIRM Vol 1-3 (I think) and everytime I pop them in within 2 minutes I"m like "really??" the moves are so corny and the outfits are so ridiculous that I pop it out of the dvd player and just shake my head. (Andrea, have you checked your PM's lately??)

Hubby made dinner, steamed veggies and he bought a premade salmon thing....salmon that was stuffed with ricotta, spinach, red peppers and some bread crumbs. It wasnt bad, and I'm happy he made the effort!

We usually try to take turns making dinner or at least coming up with dinner and fast-food doesnt count as your night either so neither one of us can get out of our dinner duty that easy!

Hubby made it home today so I'm a happy Penguin. My legs, abs and butt are sore from the kbells. After Bible study, I had a routine mammogram, then fixed a nice welocme home dinner for Hubby, of roasted chicken and veggies.

ETA: I forgot to post I did 40min on the treadmill to thaw out my lower body.

Sweat-fest. Sweating sounds warm.

Stacy, we don't have a fireplace. I really wanted one, however, I would be roasting marshmellows all the time if we had one. Great job on the 6 lbs.

Andrea, my eating hasn't been great. I've been craving a lot of sweets.

Peng, we have a fireplace but Rich won't allow us to use it! can you believe that? he says (and i looked into it and there may be some truth behind this) that it creates negative pressure in your house and sucks in the cold from outside. with as many cracks and drafts as we have in this old house, i guess we don't need that. he just always ruins all the fun. his friends call him "The Jewish Grandmother"...lol...i call him "captain buzzkill".

Hope your soreness is dissipating!

I'm gonna be sore! Three mile monster walk today followed by kick punch and crunch...never done that whole thing before! yikes i burned 588 calories according to my hrm and that doesn't count the dog walk calories. i should have a rockin bod by about 230 this afternoon :)

Don't want to work today! I want to playl! ha ha
I'm sore, but not terribly so. Have to fit in B/Sh/Bi when I get home, then get ready for the weekend, then off to bed early. I should have gotten up early and did my workout before work but it didn't happen.

Excited for tomorrow night! #1 KSU vs BAYLOR! What time does Ohio St play Wisconsin Stacy? Dang it I wish you guys could go bowling! Crap!

Peng, do something fun for me since I have to work! :(

This is the second week I've done a workout on Tues then couldn't walk right for the rest of the week because I was sore. Grr. I got on the scale and gained a few more lbs; that makes +15 for this year! I've got to stop this! Why can't I get ahold of myself! Hubby's gained weight also so we are trying to work together on this. Planning another TM workout today.

Andrea, sadly today is laundry and unraveling and re-knitting sleeves that came out too big. Not much fun there. I've never heard that about fireplaces before. Love Captain Buzzkill!

Stacy, I hate being sore! hope you feel better.

My doggies have been sick, been up with one since 3am so I didnt workout this morning. Hubby took them to the vet today while I was at work, and they'll be on the mend soon, but it's heartbreaking to hear my baby whimper :( I'm not sure if I wouldve worked out anyways, I'm still sore from High Reps, surprisingly more sore than I thought. I have to work half a day in the morning tomorrow so planning again on working out before I go in b/c when I get home I plan on putting on my pj's and planting my butt on the couch and watching college football all day. Andrea, our game is at 3:30 EST. I'm going to tape the Michigan game, it starts at noon. I love to cheer against them! I'll be cheering for your KSU!!

My diet today was almonds for breakfast, then the girls at work went out for subs so I had them get me a tuna sub, obviously more cals than the yogurt and banana I had brought with me, but sometimes you just gotta eat lunch with the gals and socialize. I actually had some spare time to actually sit and eat lunch today!

Peng, do you and hubby have any specific things you are doing to help with the weight loss? Hubby and I in general are cutting back on potatoes in all forms, he's cutting back on his ice cream and I'm cutting back on breads and other carbs. It's been a slow progress b/c I'll still indulge in sweets now and then and we still have pizza night. But as long as I'm seeing an overall downward trend on the scale I'm content. I'd definitely see faster results if I upped the intensity of my workouts and tightened up my eating more, but I cant live like that for long. So slow and steady! 6 lbs down, about 10 more to go!

Well work wasn't too bad, other than a friend of mine getting a call from her hubby that he had taken their dog to the vet and he was going to be put to sleep today. She was bawling so hard, I started crying, our supervisor started crying...we were all messes. Their dog was pretty old, had cancer and had started bleeding out of his hind end last night, so it was pretty obvious that was what was going to have to happen. Still so very sad though. However, the rest of the day went surprisingly smoothly.

Did my B/Sh/Bi's workout when I got home, and OMG Rich made the best dinner! Purple cabbage sauteed with apple cider vinegar and mustard, some quinoa, and smoked salmon with a squeeze of lemon, dill weed, and some sriracha sauce! Sounds super strange but it was fantastic and so healthy! Gotta give him some major props for that. Captain Buzzkill did awesome today!

S- Hope your doggies are on the way to getting better! I'm getting ready to head to bed at 7:20pm so I can be rested up for my game tomorrow night! I'm with you on your eating less potatoes, bread, and the like. I'm doing the same.

P- I remember once you had said you rarely eat salads except for when you go out. I know if I have a week or two where I eat a huge salad (without cheese, heavy dressings, croutons, etc...I do lots of colorful veggies and some black beans or garbanzo beans, and just a drizzle of light dressing or vinegar) for one of my meals each day it's practically impossible NOT to lose weight. Get a salad spinner, clean a bunch of lettuce, cut your veggies up and have them ready to go, and meals are a breeze. (I'm saying all this like I do it everyday. I don't. But I need to. I did do it last week and it was awesome). Since it's getting cold, having some soup is a great idea. Filling, satisfying, comforting, but not going to add to what's already there. I had a year a couple of years ago where the scale jumped 12 pounds. I pretty much decided then, I'm not getting any younger, it's now or never I kept telling myself. And since then, I've veeeerrrrrryyy gradually gone down, kind of like Stacy said, slow and steady will win the race. You want to join me in December on my circuits/ cardio plan? I think I'll do one day of heavy lifting per week, but most days will be lighter and will help burn off the fat and not make you so sore! I'm going to continue my Gym Styles for at least one more week, maybe transition into the circuit work the last week of December. STICK WITH US!!! We're all going to help each other get the results we want.

So....WHAT DO WE WANT!?!?! Stacy knows, she's got 10 pounds to go. (YOU ROCK BTW!)

I want...let's see I want to weigh 122. I want to be strong when I get there, not skinny, but I want to get there. Last time I weighed myself I was at 136. I could get into measurements and all that, and I know the scale can be deceiving, but I also know myself well enough to know that 122 IS achievable and that I will look and feel awesome at that weight. I also want to do every one of the Cathe videos I have. By March.

Let's get on it!

Andrea, very awesome and inspirational post!! YOU ROCK!! ;)

I'm SO with you on the December circuit/cardio plan!! A heavy lifting day per week sounds great too b/c when I've done just circuits/cardio in the past I lost too much strength and muscle "tone". I'm super excited for December!! I started Oct 8th at 136 lb, weighed 130 lb two days ago, was back up to 131 lb this morning but I've seen my weight fluctuate like that since I started and it'll go up a bit, and then down, but the overall gradual trend has been downward. My goal is also about 120-122 lb and like you, I know my body and know that is totally doable. I'd absolutely love to be 115 lb but to stay there I'd have to be super duper strict with my diet almost 100% of the time and I simply have no desire to do that.

Peng, I'd love for you to join us too! It'd be cool if we could all share some strategies. I'm sticking with my starchy carb reduction/increased protein veggie plan as it is working for me. I will also need to watch portions more closely. Soups and salads are great diet foods, I agree!

I dont know exactly yet what my December rotation will be but I'll be giving it some thought this weekend!

I decided I'm going to do the STS/LIS One Month Total Body rotation Cathe posted in January. I like that one b/c it has 2 rest days (well one is a rest or yoga day). For my schedule I can stick to a 5 day a week workout schedule fairly well. I'm going to make some substitutions b/c I dont have all the workouts. The general plan will be...

WEEK 1 & 3
--Total body
--Cardio
--Rest
--Total body
--Cardio
--Circuit
--Rest

WEEK 2 & 4
--Upper body
--Cardio
--Rest
--Circuit
--Cardio
--Lower body
--Rest

For total body I plan on using STS Total Body and Hi Reps. For upper body I'm going to use PUB and CTX UB, for lower body, I'll use Leaner Legs and Gym Styles. For the Circuits, most likely Athletic Training, LIC, TTM or CF. And on cardio days I'll use that as my "free" day to do whatever cardio I'm in the mood for. I'll likely have to change the order of those workouts to match up better with my new work schedule I'll have in December, but that's my basic foundation!

mmmmmm me likey! i was just thinking i wanted something along those lines. i don't have sts but have plenty of things to sub in to follow those guidelines. thanks chica!

I spent the day alternating between cleaning house and knitting. I don't feel 100% today because of the sinus stuff. Thankfully its the weekend.

Hubby and I are trying to brainstorm new ideas. I've cut down on my snacking these past two days so that's a start.

Andrea, I like your soup idea. For a Penguin who makes her own bread I don't eat a lot of it, I'm more likely to go for cookies or sweets, which I've been guilty of the past few weeks, I have to confess.

Stacy, Your cardio/curcuit rotation is similar to what I've been doing before Oct. I felt I was in a rut so tried to switch it up, then ended up not doing much. That will teach me to stick with what works. I think I"m going to try shorter workouts for a while to work my stamina back up so maybe I won't get as sore. She hopes. I like generic rotations so I can plug in what I'm in the mood for. Sorry to hear the doggies are sick, I hope they and you are feeling better.

oh my. what a horrid display of football yesterday by my Cats! they are riddled with injuries and are just not deep enough to overcome that.

well, crap. :-(

Andrea, I was so bummed for you and your team!! And then Oregon had to lose too. The teams I hate the most...Michigan, Notre Dame and the entire SEC. Now it looks like ND is #1 b/c we cant be offically ranked (grrrr) and now it's looking like the SEC may goto the Nat'l Championship game! We pulled it off in OT thank goodness, our big rival game is next week!

I'm supposed to do a total body workout or circuit today, but I'm feeling lazy. I just got back from running a bunch of errands, need to clean the house a bit and start laundry, we'll see how motivated I feel after all that is over. Yesterday I did cardio and abs....Susan Chung's Rapid Fire Results 2 kickboxing.

I cant wait for the new Ilaria's!
