Pregnancy Question

Cathlete
I don't know whether or not I'm pregnant, but I'm beginning to suspect that there is a good chance I am. I've been experiencing "changes" that are in line with pregnancy.

But I have a question...and I apologize if this is a little "personal"...but has anyone else ever noticed a change in the shape of their nipples when they became pregnant? I mean, one day did you look in the mirror and go, "hmmm, now that one looks a little 'longer' than the other one. I never noticed that before." ?? See, I started noticing breast tenderness a little over a week ago, after a particularly grueling Chest and Tri workout - but this tenderness was clearly not DOMS. I did a breast exam, and while I felt "swollen" (almost glandular), I did not feel a lump. Then I did a visual inspection of my breasts in the mirror and noticed that one nipple appeared slightly more oval than the other. Oh, dear, I feel like I'm getting way too personal here.

At any rate, my breasts are so tender today that I've had to take off my bra. I bought a pregnancy test, which I plan to do in the morning...but I guess I'm a little anxious, because if I am pregnant, it is definitely UNPLANNED and my husband and I just don't feel ready for kids.

Oh, well, I guess I'll know in the morning.

You have to tell us your results tomorrow! I'll be waiting for your post! And the answer to your "personal" question is YES. My poor girls changed so much that I did not even recognize them when I looked in the mirror. My nipples definately got bigger, and it happened pretty quickly, although everyone is different on how they change. I just remember thinking the same thing you wrote and wondered what in the world was going on! My breasts were VERY tender too when I became pregnant, although this does occasionally happen with my period, but I remember them being more "tender" that time. I'll be looking for your post tomorrow (only if you want to share, that is).

It's ironic that it is close to that time of the month for me, too...but this tenderness is way worse than it's been in the past...and I've been hit with tiny waves of nausea for the past 2 days (some bigger than others).

I'll definitely post my results tomorrow. I hope it's a negative test, but if it's positive, we'll just have to make the most of it. :)

I don't know anything about pregnancy or changes at all. All I know is that I am suddenly excited for you if you are. (Kinda weird, huh). I know that you wanted to have kids later in life (like me), but in case you are pregnant, dont freak out. Things happen for a reason. Maybe God is telling you something.

I know that you had a number of job offers recently, but you never told us what job you took. (If you did I missed it). Maybe you should start preparing a "Boss, I am pregnant speech":) :)

Let us know the results!!! Please!!!!

Yep Nipples are one of the first changes I saw in my body when pregnant !!!They get darker in color too ,right away !! Good luck .Let us know how your test comes out ..Hugs to you

Yes my nipples changed almost immediately. They look like someone elses: My nipples stick out more, are about 10 shades darker and are also the size of dinner plates!!  Oh well, the baby shouldn't have any trouble finding them!:)

Good luck to you and let us know what you find out.

I hope this doesn't sound like a stupid or insensitive question, but why are you waiting until tomorrow to take the test? Don't you want to know now? taking the test IS scary, especially when you aren't planning to get pregnant.....good luck;-)

jes

lol, Jes, I was thinking the same thing! Whenever I have had a pregnancy scare, I took a bunch of tests and could never wait, lol.

Good luck, though, I hope you get the results you want! My first was unplanned and very early in our marriage, so it was hard but I definitely do not regret it.

Cheers,
Marie

ETA, sensitive boobs were always the first sign for me (I've had two kids)....

RE: Pregnancy Question - UPDATE

Well, I'm back to tell you my test results:

First, I will answer the question about why I waited: I waited to take the test today (Sunday) because I wanted to make sure to take the test with first-morning urine. I didn't want to take a test last night and then question that maybe it came up negative because I didn't have enough pregnancy hormone -- and if I'd just waited 'til morning, I wouldn't have wasted the $10 on a test. I know - I know - I'm so stinking practical! :7

So, drum roll...................the test came back negative. Still doesn't explain all the weird things going on with my body and my "girls". Maybe it's the fact that I'm "older" and my body is doing a hormonal adjustment since I haven't had kids, yet.

I might wait and take the second test in the box another day...just to make sure. Most of me is relieved, but part of me was thinking about how neat it would be to finally have a little one...and to not have to make the conscious decision to "plan" for it. You know..."Well, honey, we'd better get used to the idea, because there's not turning back now." Getting pregnant by accident just seems like it's going to be the way it happens for us. I have this weird feeling that's the way it's going to work out. :)

About the job: I took a great job that ended up being further away from home...but it's fantastic! I love my boss, and my job couldn't be a better fit for me. Everything just seemed to start falling into place as soon as I started there. It's more money, a much better opportunity (by leaps and bounds!), and the best fit a job has ever been for me. So, everybody, don't be afraid to strike out in search of a better job. Don't let fear hold you back from finding that perfect opportunity! I'm glad I didn't! My husband and I are actually looking to buy a house closer to my work, too...but that's a whole 'nother post.

See ya!

RE: Pregnancy Question - UPDATE

Thanks for the update! May I ask how late you are??? If you are just a few days late, you may not have enough pregnancy hormones in you yet to give a positive test. I would wait a good week or so (if you still haven't gotten your period) and test again if you are still having "signs".
Good Luck!

RE: Pregnancy Question - UPDATE

Also, if you are not pregnant, go to your gyn for a breast check-up. A change in the nipple appearance or in one breast is one thing that you are supposed to check for during your monthly self-exam. Keep us posted.

RE: Pregnancy Question - UPDATE

I agree with Cathy. Please go to your gyn for a breast check-up. I don't want to get into details or try to scare you but I have a friend that had a similar incident, she said her nipple looked weird but she felt fine and found no lumps. Thank God that she went - after 2 years of treatmensts she is cancer free!

I agree with Robin. When I became pregnant with my second I took a pregnancy test and it came back negative. This happened to be around New Years Eve, so I had a few glasses of champagne at midnight. Well, turns out I was "just" pregnant and it didn't register on the EPT. I was so freaked out that I had alcohol. Everything was fine. Maybe you should do that second test.
