Power Hour....OMG!!!!

Kimba

Cathlete
I finally got enough nerve to try this today. I eliminated some of the sets/reps and used lighter weights because I want to ease into it, but good Lord! :-wow

The shoulder work with #5 dumbells even killed me. I was too tired to even contemplate abs and nearly collapsed during ONE PLANK! :-tired LOL!

If my version of Power Hour "Lite" is tough, I don't want to even think about the total workout

Kimba,
My wimpy 25 lb barbell for PH slays me! Plus I use 15 lbs for chest and the barbell with no plates for triceps! PH is so time efficient and just another great workout from Cathe. Just wrapped up a long PS rotation and did this one yesterday. Can you say "LACTIC ACID" without grimacing? I really like the ab portion in this video. It isn't too long and it's so simple. I luv it much better than the PS abs. Reminds me of the good old gym days ... Body Pump was always fun.

IMHO, this is THE hardest endurance weight tape ever conceived. I actually laugh at certain points as if to say, 'how in the world can she expect such things from such people'? I find it comical, yet it's very, very serious. I must do this one very soon. Maybe in a couple of days or weeks.

Powerhour really creeps up on you, doesn't it? The first time I used it, I completely omitted the lunge section. When we got to biceps and Cathe picked up 15#, I knew I'd be doing 12# at the most! Just think of the advantages of having a workout that's tough in the beginning (much better than one that's a breeze right off and becomes too easy too fast). It's very satisfying to stay with this for a while, since you'll get better each time. I finally got to the point where the lunge section didn't seem like it went on forever!! On a really good workout day, I actually thought I could do more lunges!

I am SOOOOOO sore today! I can't believe it, and I used light weights for goodness sake! Looks like I'm having a rest day
:-tired .

I'm willing to take another crack at it on Saturday. I like this workout better than MIS. The sets are slighly shorter and they mix up body parts. I really don't like to all lower then all upper body. For some reason that bores me.

You know what really gets me? Is when people say they are doing this 2 and 3 times in a week on their rotation! GROAN...

I tried to incorporate it 2x per week (no other weight work) and I lasted all of one week and needed an extra day's rest.

OH those lungest are the worst...
-joy

I do one set of lunges and one set of seated leg extensions with #5 ankle weights. I'm not trying to kill myself this early in the game!

corybugg I just tried ph for the first time and i love it. Yes its hard but thats cathe for ya! Never a boaring work out. I think ill try for 2x per week along with slow and heavey triceps and biceps. has any one tried that rotation? what kind of results did you get? thanks corybugg.

Hi Corybug,
I think that sounds pretty good. Make sure too that you get your cardio in there.

Joanne

Make each day count!

I'm with you Stargazer! And those lunges really are still the ultimate challenge for me. Some day I'll be able to do them all with a barbell, ...or maybe a broomstick?
Ha!

I LOVE Power Hour! The music just brings me right along!
Those low-ends just kill me every time! I'll never get used to them...but I guess that's the point. If they were easy, they wouldn't make a difference!
