power 90x

RE: Kathryn!

I have a question about this highly intriguing series!! I think i would love to get it, but i have one concern.

I just moved to an apartment on the third floor. I had to eliminate some cathe cardio workouts from my routine just so i wouldn't completely tick off the people below me by banging around for an hour a day. (its ok though, my mom is keeping them all well used and loved for until i can take them back!)

Will the PX90 series cause too much banging for the people below me? what do you think? I really want to get it! but would like to keep some friends in the building! :)

Thanks!

NOt unless you drop your weights!
Seriously though (though I was serious about that as well), the cardio is not "bouncy" (Kenpo is a type of Karate, and there are no jumping moves in it). The "noisiest" tape, as far as downstairs neighbors are concerned, would probably be the plyometrics tape, where some of the moves have you jumping from side to side or back and forth or in place. But the noise problem should give you motivation to land softly, as you should.

RE: Kathryn!

I remember living in an apartment on the third floor. I didn't care about the neighbors downstairs. They never complained, so I just kept up the bouncing. Of course they did complain about my son when he was crawling, maybe my noise scared them, it wasn't nearly as cute!
The daughter said that her dad asked once if we have an army living in our apartment, in reference to my sons crawling. I just told her that I couln't teach him how to fly so he is going to have to get over it. Never heard another word!}(

RE: Power90x

Thanks! So it's just one tape per day? I would feel a little nervous that I was not working some areas enough. I am tempted to get it though. I'm a graduate of the first Power 90, but I have been working out mainly just with Cathe for a long time now.

RE: Power90x

Oh I think you'll be GLAD to not do more than one a day. Even on the Kenpo, which you initially think is semi-easy, (if you're used to KPC), you're going to wake up the next day w/some serious DOMS.

Its Brutal.

Enjoy it! ;-)

RE: Power90x

The regular rotation has you do 6 different workouts in a week(let's see if I can get it right from memory: 1) chest/back; 2) plyometrics; 3) shoulder/arms; 4) kenpo; 5) legs and back; 6) yoga; 7) day off or stretch. You follow this for 3 weeks, then you have a recovery week, where you emphasis the core and stretching with core synergistics, yoga and kenpo (maybe another?). Then you get back into the heavier work, with a different rotation for three weeks(chest/shoulders/triceps, back/biceps, etc.).

The rotation is meant to be periodized (alternating heavy and lighter work) so that your body doesn't adapt, has ample recovery, and is ready to make new gains with each new cycle.

There are other rotations other than the regular one, including a lean rotation, which emphasizes cardio more, and a "doubles" which adds an extra cardio workout to each day.

I wouldn't worry about not working out all areas enough!!

There is a power90 and there is a P90X which one are you guys speaking of, cause the P90X, costs like 150 dollars, the power90 only 60 dollars+s/h ? ......... Rhonda

RE: Kepi!

Have you "mastered" the Cathe workouts? I'm new to Cathe and I find them tough and very challenging! Even though I've been workign out a while, I wonder if I'm up for something like P90X?

Do you find that your results are more visual? or just stength gains? or both?

Curious to know!!!

Thanks,
Joy

RE: Kepi!

Hi Joy. I'm an advanced exerciser and I've been working out to Cathe's workouts for years. The strength workouts are definitely tougher than Cathe's workout. Lots of push ups and pull ups makes for tough workouts.

There are three rotations that come with this kit, so you are in control of your workouts. It's a really neat concept, a concept you will not find in any other series.

Yep, it's worth it too! Just do it!}( The plyo and the leg workout will be perfect for you freestylin'. Plus all the other workouts are Great!}( }( }(

RE: Power90x

Mindi...
This is how Powerstrike has always been for me. I have always done the punches in the form they describe (tilting your heel up,bringing power from the hip, using the legs) and I am SOOOOO sore from it. I expect this will be the same. I am very stoked!!

Thanks for the info on it!

I calculate my ETA for this Monday!! I already got the Power Rack and I can't do one pullup!

RE: Power90x

Oh I can't do a pullup either! lol Fortunately, Tony shows us alternative moves!

The pullup is a goal and I'll do one before I die! :p
