post workout snack ideas

I didn't read all the responses so I am sure this is a repeat but if I am not drinking a protein shake then one of my recovery meals is 1/2 cup plain Greek Yogurt mixed with organic unsweetend shredded coconut, blueberries, flax seeds and a half packet of Stevia.


can anyone give me some good protein/carb snack ideas for eating after workout

Do you make the choco milk with skim milk and syrup, or do you get the stuff from the carton??

Yes, just skim (non-fat for West coasters:p) milk and Hershey's syrup....but I have to confess a favorite of mine is making an iced mocha with milk in my blender.... ( friend of mine was in New York City at a Starbucks and ordered some sort of coffee with non-fat milk....and the barista responded rather snottily with a roll of the eyes..."Do you mean skim milk?"...those weird Californians talk strangely and don't know what's what!)

I get it at Costco at a great price. I feel so oh so naughty...but I figure if I am going to drink choc milk anyway...I will make it a mocha! It is yum yum yummy.

Ahhhh Starbucks. It's like that here too.......who cares how I say the "milk"??!! Skim, non-fat, same s**t!! I say "skim" and the Barista responds "non-fat". I want to say "ok look. When you go to the grocery store, WHAT DOES THE MILK CARTON SAY???? IT SAYS S-K-I-M".

Ohhh ya the Mocha flavor with the chocolate is great! I am going to have to make those at home............but I am scared I will get addicted. Love flavored coffee :)
 
On Sundays I make sweet potato/egg muffins as post w/o snacks for the entire week. I dice up one sweet potato and saute in coconut oil and cinnamon. While those are cooking blend 12 egg whites until just a little frothy. When potatoes are done, divide them up into 12 muffin cups then top with the egg whites. Put in oven 325 for about 25 minutes. Let them cool then keep them in the fridge. I eat two post workout after throwing them in the microwave for 25 seconds. Yummo! :D

I wanted to tell you that I made a couple of batches of these yesterday. I made one batch with egg whites and one with whole eggs.
YUMMY! For whole eggs...I used 7 whole large eggs. I'm sure it would be less with x-large eggs.

This is going to be our new portable food.:cool: This is far better than any heavily processed protein bar.

I made a batch of these today...they are great (I also used whole eggs). I've been searching for quick high protein breakfast foods and this is it! Next week I'm going to try a savory version of these, with onion, tomato, zucchini and spinach sautéed in olive oil, maybe adding some oregano or thyme and also some feta cheese.
