Aw, how sweet! :) MY female great up with Bf's daughter and they are like that too. Every time she visits, Nikki follows her EVERYWHERE!

Allison,
You should join us NYers for one of our get-togethers sometime. There are 5 of us and I hear Maximus may join us next time. Several of us live in Brooklyn.

Ruth,
I have this weird feeling about giving out family names on the internet, even the name of the dog. I sometimes call him "Circus Dog" sometimes because he knows so many tricks. He's really smart, and endlessly friendly and playful. I highly recommend Wheaton Terriers for families with kids who are thinking about getting a dog. One of the reasons my brother chose him is that he's less likely to cause allergic symptoms than other dogs, as my brother has bad allergies.

Im with Sandra on this one

I dont have a dog either, but your all making me feel very "dog maternal".

Enjoying all the stories with a smile

Nancy,

I didn't know many of you live in Brooklyn. I'm not too far- my dad is from Bayridge and reminisces about it all the time! The picture of the dog and your niece is adorable!

Edited to say- This thread has gotten so many hits! I wonder if there is a correlation between loving animals and fitness???

Hi Ruth! I have two great dogs a yellow lab named Riley and a lab sheppard mix mutt, named Jenny. They adopted a stray cat a few years back, we named Gato they really love him, and he loves them, they all sleep together and run outside together.
The cat is an indoor outdoor cat that my husband has taught to ring a bell if he want to go outside! Once we were painting the trim on the door and put paper to keep the paint off the edges, my cat started hitting the paper to get our attention to open the door for him. My husband went to the local hardware store and bought a small bell that he positioned cat height, everytime the cat wanted to go out we would put his paw to the bell then immediatly open the door, after two weeks he started doing it himself, it's now been over six months and he is going strong!! Hi Nancy,

I actually know a Wheaton very well as a family friend has one. Great dogs!

Hi Anie, thanks for chiming in! That's one smart kitty cat you've got there!

Ruth:) :)

The love of my life is Chico, my 9 & 1/2 lb chihuahua. I was always a cat person until one day my DD told me about a chihuahua with a broken jaw that this little old lady had. She couldn't afford the vet. I told her to bring him over & I would take him to the vet. Well, this ugly scrawny 5lb chihuahua with his jaw broken & hanging limply trotted right into my home, checked out the house & the back yard & decided he liked the joint. He plopped himself right next to me & laid his head on my lap. He smelled & had a large area of hair missing from his head. Who know's what had happened to him. He was in bad shape. But his charm, personailty & total confidence just stole my heart. I was a gonner.

Anyway, he had a feeding tube through his stomach to allow his jaw to heal & now he is fine but too fat. But he is about 9yrs old from the vets estimate & he will be spoiled for the rest of his life.

He is a mamma's boy!!!
