please help me get excited for meso 3

Hi all,

So today is the last day of my rest day before I start the final leg of sts. For some reason I am not looking forward to anything but the plyo legs. I don't know why. I have enjoyed this journey thus far but I just can't get excited by meso 3.

Hi Jenn,

I just started my second week of Meso 3 today. It's not so bad. I'm finding that I actually like the upper body workouts because I can feel myself getting stronger. You do very few reps, using quite heavy weights, and the rest periods are quite long, but even though the workouts are over an hour in elapsed time, they seem to keep moving. Cathe keeps speaking and educating through the whole workout. And you really do need the rest. I was amazed this morning with Disk 28, that I was noticeably stronger than I was for Disk 25 last week - I was able to add 2 to 2 1/2 pounds for almost all my weights.

Plyo Legs is fantastic - really fun. You will like it.

I have REALLY been LOVING meso 3. I did not know what to expect, but I did not expect to love these workouts like I do, I truly look forward to them. I just started Week3 Day1 today, and here are just some of the reasons I think meso 3 is fantastic:

  1. I have experienced an increase in energy like nothing I've ever experienced before, I'm sure it's more than just meso 3, but this noticable feeling of energy started in meso 3.
  2. This style of lifting is brand new for me, I had never done full workouts of heavy weights with low reps. I love experiencing new styles of lifting, so this part is fun.
  3. I can feel my muscles are firmer and more defined.
  4. I'm noticably stronger, I'm lifting some crazy heavy weights for me, and loving it!
  5. The shortened reps are great. Even the heaviest weight does not seem at all scary when I only have to get to 8 or less reps.
  6. I had been a bit discouraged about my lack of visible results, but then all of a sudden in the last couple of days, it was like over night I woke up and the softness around my middle, is just less flabby and less soft. Obviously this is a result of all 3 mesocycles, but for some reason, it took meso 3 for my body to finally let go of some of this fat, and start visibly firming up.
So in addition to truly enjoying the workout style in meso 3, I believe you need to do all 3 cycles as intended to get the maximum results and benefits from STS as a whole.

So my closing thoughts, just get in there in try out the first week, you might really be surprised. :D

I just started M3 and did the first plyo leg workout the night before last. OMG. I have never been a plyo girl but, now that I'm 60 pounds lighter (less weight on the knees), I'm going for it. I obviously couldn't do every plyo rep but I held my own, considering. I'm sore but I suspect it's going to really be bad tomorrow. Part of me dreads the remainder of M3 because of plyo legs but another part of me knows I really need it so I'm sticking it out. After I'm done with M3 plyo legs I'm half thinking of doing M3 squat rack legs before starting STS all over again.

STS is the bomb for what it (and clean eating) has been doing for my body. I really can't believe how well it's all working. Even though plyo legs has forced me to really look at the holes in my fitness (cardio... urggggh).

Since I haven't even yet started meso 3 (tomorrow is the day!), I'm not sure I should be chiming in, but.... I was feeling a bit ambivalent about it myself -- I so loved meso 2. But the other day I started looking through the workout sheets to make sure I had target weights filled in (I couldn't do my target on everything in meso 1 & 2, so I've always looked ahead and re-adjusted the target weight by hand for those things that needed it -- and by the way, that was a lot fewer by the end of meso 2!). Anyway.... looking ahead and the sheets made me so excited for it! I cannot wait to start tomorrow -- I hope you can get excited, too.

DH and I are into our last week of M3. We have been loving it and I know you will too! The strength gains for both us have been fabulous and we have been surprised by the amount we can lift. :) Don't dread it; embrace it!

I really didn't expect to like Meso 3 and had originally thought I could just trade it or whatever as I probably wouldn't be using it much. Well I was wrong. I love it. I like lifting the heavier weights and I like the shorter reps. This is an absolutely great w/o and I felt that Meso 1 & 2 really prepared me for this. This has gone from doubtful to a definite keeper. Cathe knew what she was doing when she designed this series.

Are you doing the plyo or squat rack version? I'm always cool with heavy weight but, for me, anything that really gets my heart racing (plyo) is ALWAYS a problem. I want to believe I'll become better able to handle it and would LOVE some reassurance from people who also hated plyo, pre-STS, but are learning to love it. Anyone?

I am a Meso 3 convert - I thought that it would be a bit tedious - but surprise- surprise I love it! It actually moves quite well. The shoulder, bis and tris workout moves almost as fast as Meso 1 because you only get 30 second rest between each set of the triset - hard to explain but because you are working three muscle groups you do end up with a longer rest as needed. It's fun - and I feel like superwoman lifting 20+ lb dumbells for biceps. Before STS I wasn't able to break past my 15 lb plateau in that area. Yeah for Meso 3!

BTW this is my 100th post - I am now a Catheite!

I have also been loving Meso 3 much more than expected. I too feel that my muscles have been becoming more defined throughout this portion, but I also do feel it's the entire STS program kicking in at this time. And as far as the Plyo legs goes, it is AWESOME. I just finished the last one and even though I've been a doing Cathe workouts for many years now, it wasn't until this last plyo legs workout that I was able to do plie jacks with the heel-kick thing! Yay! I plan on incorporating these workouts into other rotations since they are just that good.

Just dig in a go for it....I'm pretty sure you will like it!
