Please don't flame me, but

Aww, Laura, I love you BECAUSE you are obnoxious and opinionated! I always read your posts because I know you will have something interesting to say. The one-star ratings just add to the interest because why would someone bother to do that -- they must have very strong feelings about what you say. (Now you are wondering "who is this Stebby person anyway who is professing love").

P.S. Please don't flame me.

Unintentionally funny!

As I was scrolling through the list of threads, I saw:
"Don't flame me..." followed by "Cremation."

Wow, I never expected 3 pages from my little comment!

Laura, I never noticed your single-starred posts. I see multiple stars now. Someone must love you! I also see this thread was multiply-starred. LOL

Carola, I agree that some folks misuse the "don't flame me" comment.

There seems to be a whole lot more seriousness around here than used to be. Who had a signature line something like "Don't take yourself seriously...?" I come here to have fun, learn some stuff and chat with friends. There doesn't seem to be as much light-heartedness anymore. Just saying....

Sadly, I think it is a sign of the times. I think everyone is stressed. I know I am. Lately, I've been coming in to work waiting to see if the locks have been changed.

Liann,

Who is that in your avatar?
Do you have a new fur baby??!!!

I wish!!! No, it's just a REALLY cute picture of a doxie that I found online. It looks a lot like my Dakota did when he was that size. I wish I had taken more pictures of my babies when they were little. :( I want a puppy!!!!

Okay Liann..here's the plan, I say that you go ahead a get a puppy post a bunch of pictures of how cute and adorable he/she is with your other three weiners than I can show DH and say "Liann has four and look how cute and adorable they are..it's a piece of cake." Not sure if he will take the bait but I'm willing to give it a shot. Are you in? :p:D

Lol, I've already been telling my DH that now that the wieners are getting older, we need to get a puppy so we have some at different ages. He's not buying it yet! I also use the 4 wiener dogs just equal one Lab reasoning too.

Oh, you had me excited for a second. I was going to insist on a more pictures!
I really want a puppy too!
I've tried to convince my DH, but he's not caving. :(

Well unfortunately I can't use the age excuse b/c Tanner is 8 and runs circles around Tucker who's 2. I really don't understand where Tanner gets his energy from, he's like that Looney Tunes character the Tazmanian Devil. I won't complain though, I hope he stays that energetic for another 10 years. ;)

A puppy would be so much fun except for the potty training but I guess it's easier to clean up after a doxie baby than it is a Lab baby.

Cynthia, Chastity and Liann - Please don't puppy me!

Catherine, I thought it was your line, but have such a sieve head, I was afraid to name names. I love that line!

I can't say that I've noticed an abundance of posts that begin with this statement, but I will agree that the forums aren't as much fun as they used to be. I have a lot going on in my personal life right now so I don't have much time to peruse the forums, but when I do pop in for a visit I'm looking for a little escape. I want to be enlightened for sure, but mostly I just want to laugh and have FUN! Life is hard enough and I don't want to get caught up in the unpleasant atmosphere that seems to hang over Cathe land lately. ETA that I agree things have gotten way too serious around here and we need to lighten up a little bit. ;)

I agree.

It's great that we are able to discuss things that are not allowed on other forums, but I think some take that freedom to mean free reign to be not-so-nice.

Granted, there are times when some posts might be a case of "you can't hear tone or voice in written communication" or "it came off sounding more blunt than intended" (because the author was in a hurry, off to do something else, for example---at least that's what happens with me some times). But the outright namecalling and direct insults against people, that's not copacetic.

And I think that stupid star system for rating threads (what's the point) also encourages some nasty behavior (that is more anonymous): giving 1 star to threads you don't agree with or whose author you don't like for some reason. I think that aspect of the forums should be disabled.

Agreed...100%.

Yes, I think the whole flame thing is ridiculous. People should have the right to express their views as long as it is done in an acceptable manner. I believe that some people get carried away with their opinions, which can be offensive to some users. Of course, there are always topics (politics especially) that are open to flames because some people do not have respect for others' feelings. This is why I do not read/comment on threads that are controversial in nature. If I were to give a star rating, and that is a big "IF", I wouldn't base it on the user, I would base it on the post in general. I don't think the star rating system is appropriate really.

In reality, if you don't have something nice to say, don't say it at all. Perhaps someone should sticky that in the rule book. LOL
