Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 9/4

Good morning,

I have an appointment with my doctor this morning...a follow up from the one on Saturday, which was with their After Hours Care doctor. I feel a lot better, but not 100%. I haven't had any coffee since Friday.

Judy, wow 94! that is really Hot! That exercise/stretch DVD sounds like a good one. When I was doing PT for my back, a lot of the exercises were glute type ones. We always have our beans mixed with half regular and half decafe too. :). What I don't like about FB pages, is like here.....Cathe will sometimes put information on her FB page, and not here....that is wrong! This is her main site, where all of her loyal fans go to find information....and those not on FB miss out. Where did you read about the new Tower workouts? here? or on her FB page? Good that you are volunteering at a rescue, that will be good experience to include when you apply for a vet tech position in the future.

Carolyn, that had to be really scary! I hope he is ok. When does he see the cardiologist?

Valerie, that is great that you took your cousin and wife for that ride. It seems like they are starting to get into it more, maybe this is a good beginning for them. I noticed the same thing about paper magazines, it seems that they are all advertisements now. All I know is that the natural topical I was using on the dogs did not repel fleas like it was supposed to, so I had to resort to the more toxic stuff. I hate doing it but it was necessary. I just want to limit it as much as I can.

Diane Sue, maybe a good thing for you to have some rest days while on jury duty...lucky that your SIL works so close to the courthouse. Is it a far drive? I just read something really nasty about Folger's coffee...maybe it was a Folger's flavor pack or something? Warnings about not using it because of something they found in it...I really would like to adjust my diet for this...I do not plan on staying on these meds for long. I read that Arabica beans have less acid...

Lori, have a safe trip!

Hi to Lynda, Josie, & Caitlin,

Take care,

Deb, no coffee since Friday!. now that is fortitude! this will work like an elimination diet. when you add things back in, it might be clear what was causing the problem.
I' m able to skip using Revolution on my kitty during the winter. usually I give him the last dose in October, restart in April. He never goes to a kennel or any place where he's contacting other animals. I wonder if you will be able to do that if you take your dogs to classes and events where there are other dogs have been and are present.
I have been adding some toasted walnuts, a generous tablespoon, to my oatmeal every morning. I think it makes the oatmeal "last longer". I might try almond butter too. I need to be careful because it's adding calories, and I wasn't eating a mid morning snack most days, I just was hungry.
Diane sue, I forgot to mention I got some of the tajin seasoning. I love it on fresh tomatoes. what do you use it on?

Cousin and wife are not really committed. you can't do something one day in 2 weeks and expect to get much improvement. still, we are very proud of her. she couldn't ride at all until mid summer. she took lessons and kept at it and now is doing very well. she's the one who never rode a bike as a child. for her to ride 18 miles...well, we are proud of her!

Judy, I talked to my sister yesterday and she complained about the heat and humidity. yep, 94 and very humid. I hated Midwest summers.

Lori you are the only person who would do a workout before a leave time of 6:15! wow. I would take the day off and get some sleep. hope it goes well with madeline.

Hi Everyone,
Thank you for the concern and encouragement for my husband. He did see the primary care doctor yesterday and he has an appointment with cardiologist on Tuesday. I will feel better once he has done that. No workout today. I went to my meeting then met friends for lunch. I might decide to do something later, but I doubt it! I'm one of those people who needs to get things done early or it might not happen.
Have a great afternoon.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did live Low Impact Cardio Hiit circuits with weights (53 min.).

I actually got back very late on Monday night and slept in yesterday morning, so this was my first workout in a week. It felt good and I enjoyed the combination of cardio and weights.

I did a lot of walking in Minnesota and thoroughly enjoyed the time with my friends. I think, Valerie, you would probably have hated this vacation, because the State Fair was filled with people (many of them very overweight so I felt tiny), fried foods, and shopping at a bazaar that attracts vendors from all over the U.S. I did spend quite a bit of time looking at animals and the gorgeous blue ribbon crafts, especially the quilts, but I also ate a lot of soft serve ice cream and one corn dog, which was totally yummy. One in several years cannot be all bad! Thursday was not too crowded, but Saturday was a sea of people. But the weather was really comfortable--sunny 70s every day until the day I left. We went to a couple films, both enjoyable: Hell or High Water with a noteworthy performance by Jeff Bridges, and Little Men, an indie by Ira Sachs that was very appealing. I was astonished by the theaters because the ones around here don't have reclining seats and bar service. We also spent one afternoon in a dog park with 4 dogs--two belonging to my friends and two of my friend Nancy's sister's dogs--a tricolor Aussie and an English shepherd. What fun watching the merry chase of these dogs! My purchases at the Fair included a French tablecloth, a Zuni bracelet, two hand-painted barrettes and two Manhattan glasses from Poland for my friend's upcoming birthday on 9/15. She also made a video of me demonstrating my Manhattan technique so she can make her own on her birthday. We also went shopping at the Mall of America which was very crowded with back-to-school shoppers on Sunday (another place Valerie would hate). I found some lavender UGG boots there which I couldn't resist and my friends bought a new Bose radio. We went out to dinner once, but also did Mediterranean takeout and Indian takeout and a great lunch with one of my old Professors from the U. I love their dogs--Robbie (a lot of Shelty in him) and Dalai (a lot of Schnauzer in her), and their cats Fuji and Puccini. Fuji likes to sit up on their mantel and push things off to get attention. It was a great break after finishing my essay for the editor at Cambridge (until she asks me to revise I suppose). I returned to Max still wearing the cone of shame because he won't stop licking his incision when it's off, and more owls. According to our bird expert at Rural Lands, these are Great Horned Owls who don't just decapitate, but eat the whole chicken, except for the wings, which apparently they don't like. Kim has been ushering them into their shelters and putting up gates to keep them in/under. Hope it works!

Hurricane Hermine did not mess up my travel thank goodness! I heard about the earthquake, Diane Sue, and wondered if it might be related to all the fracking in your state.

Deb, I had heartburn throughout both my pregnancies and could only deal with it with antacids. What really helped was when Kim made Chinese food with a lot of ginger in it. Something about the ginger really helps with gastric issues. I hope you find a solution.

Carolyn, that must have been a terrible scare for you. Did your husband know that he had low blood pressure generally, or was it a surprise.

I subscribe to the New Yorker and Entertainment Weekly and both of them have a lot of content. My guilty pleasure is Vogue, but it has some good articles, profiles, reviews as well as a lot of crazy fashion ads and shoots.

Lori, I hope your Madeline is doing well. You will have to let us know if she is still fighting off her cancer. Thanks for the news about some new tower workouts. I guess I won't dismantle mine yet.

Judy, we are expecting some 90-degree weather tomorrow--just in time for classes to begin. Glad I'm not teaching!

Hi to Josie and Caitlin!

Today I did Cathe's Lower Body Blast with the conditioning drills, 77 minutes, 318 calories. I then did Suzanne Bowen Barre Amped Power Stretch 23 minutes and Relaxation Stretch 13 minutes.

Lorie, I saw the workouts that SB had posted for the week. It looked like it would be pretty good.

Judy it has been nice out here in the mornings. It is still getting up to around 90 here. They are saying rain this weekend. I am not sure if that is Oklahoma City or somewhere else in the state.

Deb, I think a day or two rest is probably a good thing. I had not heard anything like that about particular beans. I know that even how the coffee is brewed makes a difference on the acidity in it. You should be able to find something else other than Folgers. I hope that your visit goes well today and am glad that you are feeling better. It does not seem like it would be that hard to put a note at the top of one of the forums when there is something going on here at Cathe's . I saw the facebook post last night on the advanced workouts for the tower. Getting to the courthouse take more time that it is the distance factor. There are lots of one way streets downtown and parking garages. Traffic going to and from work is not good.

Valerie, I have used that type of seasoning in meat dishes and salads which usually have some fruit in them. Tropical fruits seem to be the ones that recipes want to blend it on. Sometimes with the addition of lime juice. Cucumber with tagin and lime juice. Dishes with apricots in them. There is something about the spice and sweet. Does the website for the seasoning mix have recipes? The last recipe I used was a salad that had watermelon in it.

Carolyn, if I don't do the workouts first thing in the morning they are not likely to get done. Once in awhile I will do a short stretch workout in the evening but that is it. I have to get my workout in early Friday because I am picking up a friend for lunch and we usually visit awhile before we go.

Lynda, it sounds like you had a great time with your friends. Fairs are always full of fried food and fried desserts. We usually go just for the exhibits and to see if there is anything new out there. It rains almost every time the fair starts here. We had pictures of our poor dog Mudd wearing her cone of shame once. She tore her dew claw off and would not leave it alone. I finally gave up and took her to the vet and she cauterized it.

Good morning,

The DR appointment was ok...he made me double up on the meds for 4 weeks. He said this is not uncommon for GERD...I will see him again in 4 weeks, and he said he is reasonably sure this will be gone. We'll see.

Valerie, yes, I guess after this clears up, I can slowly try things again, but will definitely cut down on coffee, no matter what. I am sure that is what caused this. Yes, with the training hall and dog events, there will always be fleas around them...:(. Good thing is that in the winter, most fleas are killed off. We also bomb the training hall occasionally...its probably time to do that again. Walnuts with cinnamon and a teaspoon of pure maple syrup are my favorite add-ins to oatmeal. It's great that your cousins are trying to get into an good exercise regime. Sometimes it takes others to "push" it and before you know it, they may start going on their own. The only subscription we have kept is to Mad magazine...It's part of John's Christmas present each year...he loves it.

Carolyn, glad your husband is ok...and he is getting the follow up with the cardiologist. That will give you both peace of mind. I am the same, if I don't do a workout in the morning, I don't do one at all.

Lynda, that sounds like a wonderful trip! Adding fresh ginger to some things is supposed to help with hearburn. It has to be fresh though I take it...not powdered.

Judy, it was almost 90 here yesterday, and they had weather warnings for people with breathing issues, the elderly etc to stay indoors because of the humidity.

Diane Sue, there is a big posting on Cathe's FB page about the new Tower workouts coming out in spring 2017.....nothing here as far as I can see, unless it is a member posing on one of the forums.. I have complained about that here in the past, but it doesn't seem to do anything. Jury duty is so different here. They give you a number, and you call in the night before to a recording, that says what numbers have to show up the next day. If you have a really high number, like over 700+...you probably will not have to go at all. Once they fill the juries with the low numbers, they tell you on the recording that you don't have to call any longer. It only takes 2-3 days and you are off the hook. Now if you have a low number, you usually have to go for a day or so, to be interviewed for a jury. If you are not picked you are excused and don't have to go back. No more of the days where everyone that is called goes and sits around there for 2 weeks.

Hi to Josie and Lori,

A manicure this morning, then we load the truck later tonight at the hall.....the fun begins...

Take care,

Good morning ladies!

Was so warm here in Charlotte yesterday was nice to use the pool and feel like Summer is still here. Yesterday I did JS 20 min arms when I woke. Needed something quick and this one is a nice little target for upper body. We barley made our flight. Traffic to Boston was horrific. We left with plenty of time yet still barely made it. A couple of accidents and rain slowed things to a crawl. We made it with only minutes to spare. Way to stressful for me.

Valerie..haha with me working out before flight. It was a short one. That is all I could get in. Later in the day Nicholas and I went for a walk. Madeline had a few appts that her son took her too. This gave us time to get her home ready and grocery shop. She has been living with her son (can't live alone now at this point) for the past month and was thrilled she could go home for a few days since we would be with her. She had another Pet scan yesterday and will have an MRI today. Doctor thinks it has now spread to brain. Tests will tell. All so very sad. I was shocked when I saw her. A real noticeable decline since my last visit.

Deb...oh no another month of that prescription! Hoping you start to feel better soon. Cathe did post on the Forum about the Fit Tower, it is under I think new workouts and listed as Last Chance to Preorder. I can see how people would miss it not realizing this was information on the new tower workouts.

Carolyn..sounds like your husband is in good care.

Lynda...your trip sounds like a lot of fun! I have not had a corn dog in ages and yes they are so good. Loved reading about the doggies. What fun. Those owls sound scary. Hoping Kim is able to get them under control. Poor Max. Chester was very depressed when he had to wear a cone. He would look at us and we know he was asking why are we doing this to him!

Judy..hoping something turns up after volunteering for a while. Sometimes that is how you can get started. The new tower workouts do sound great. I will be buying these! Perhaps when you start STS I'll jump in when you begin Meso 2.

Hi to Josie and Caitlin!

Will be doing a workout in a bit. Barre and Bands that I created for the lunch ladies. I brought my travel ankle weights that you fill with water. Love them! I also brought a band and firewalker loop. Madeline has some light weights so I am good to go to carry on with my workouts!

I just saw that today's Live workout is Total Body Band and Glide. I now will wait to do this workout later this afternoon This sounds great and I brought my bands!

Today I did Metabolic Total Body. It was a good workout. I really like metabolic workouts. I did a lot of the Jari Love Get Ripped series before I built up enough courage to try Cathe. I still do Jari occasionally.

Lynda, your vacation sounds wonderful. It is always good for to spend time with old friends.

Deb, I like to use fresh ginger and simmer it to make tea. It is very helpful with digestion, colds and other ailments. I often have a small jar of ginger tea in my refrigerator and I heat up the amount that I want to drink.

Lori, it's great that you are able to spend time with Madeline. Cathe's live workout sounds perfect for you today.

Hi to Diane Sue, Judy, Valerie, Josie and Caitln.

welcome back Lynda. I have never, ever had a corn dog! I used to go to the state fair when I lived in Wisconsin. they used to have big ears of corn with the husks peeled back like a handle, dipped into a vat of melted butter. I loved those. somehow, I missed corn dogs. maybe we got regular hot dogs? I don't remember. when I get together with old friends, we would do something like you did... none of them hike or ride. Poor max. he must be almost thru the cone of shame ordeal. we have one theater here with big seats and full bar / dinner service. It's kind of distracting from the movie. they do al most the serving before the movie starts. we stuck to water and popcorn anyway.

I am going to find out how our jury system works too. DH had to go last winter, and I was able to put off mine until this December. I was summoned just as we were going on vacation this spring, so I delayed it.

Lori I live a long way in time from the airport. not that many miles but horrendous traffic. a lot of people take a shuttle now but for a 7 am flight you would need the 3 am one. sorry to hear Madeline is slipping. Make it a good visit.

I will try the tajin seasoning on fruit.. so far just on vegies. I have a watermelon salad planned for today.

Deb I think you are probably right that too much coffee is the culprit. Do they want you to stay off all coffee for the rest of the prescription?

Hi everyone--

This morning I did live Hard Strikes Low Impact Boxing (58 min.) with one lb. gloves. I didn't like this one very much. No kicking, and she ends with a lot of bear crawls into pushups, inchworms, and a little bit of upper body work with 10 lb. dumbbells.

Lori, I am sad about Madeline too. I remember how positive she was and determined to fight. Oddly enough, Max flies around with the cone of shame with abandon. It doesn't seem to cramp his style. He just looks funny dashing about with that thing around his neck. I have heard that Logan can be difficult with traffic. There was a front page NYT picture a couple weeks ago showing people in a traffic jam on the way to Laguardia getting out of their cabs and wheeling their bags toward the airport. Crazy! City planning and neglect of infrastructure issues I think.

Deb, maybe by the time you are done with the medication you won't even want coffee anymore? My problem is that I get a headache if I don't have my morning caffeine. There's a hoisin chicken recipe that uses a lot of grated ginger that I like. There is also a gum called gin-gin that my friend gave me when I was out in Minnesota. She is hooked on it. Very strong almost peppery in its ginger flavor.

Carolyn, I did Jari Love's "Get Chiseled and Ripped" a lot. That's the only one I have by her. I thought she looked a bit too thin. MMM, that ginger tea sounds good.

Valerie, before we moved to Mpls., we lived in Cokato and there was an annual Corn Carnival in August with free corn on the cob dipped in butter. Yummy! We stuck to popcorn too, although my friend likes to pour in a bag of peanut m'n'ms in her popcorn. I'm sure the sweet with salty is good, but that's too much for me.

I'm going to take a look at the live workout from today and maybe I will do it tomorrow.

Today I did X Train All Out Low Impact Cardio, 39 minutes, 271 calories. I followed this with Ice Upper Body Chisel with Core 2, 55 minutes, 209 calories and finished off with Barre Amped Strengthen and Stretch ball stretch 6 minutes, 15 calories. Total time was 1 hr 40 minutes and calories burned 495.

Deb, I think that we have some sort of idea of what we are using too much of. Many times for me it is the things I do not want to give up. Finding a replacement can be helpful. I am not sure what to expect from jury duty this time. All of the other times I had to show up, people that were coming in with excuses stood in lines for the first hour or so. Then they took a roll call. Then we sat there and groups would be called out to be questioned to build a jury. I was always sent back if I even got called. Generally I just sat there and after 2 to 3 days I got to go home. Once it was mid day and they said they were done and everyone else could leave. This time they sent out a form letter that explained everything and gave the reasons that someone may be exempt or excused. It says come in the Friday before for that. Also you have to set up a sign in online and put your juror identification number in. I have a password and had to give my cell number and e mail so they can contact me via e mail and text. It did say something about if you read the instructions and feel you should be excused they have a page for that. Since I do not have an excuse I did not look. I guess it sill be different. My identification has a barcode with it so I halfway expect that to be scanned some how.

Lorie, that is so sad for Madeleine. Cancer is so sad. I have an aunt and uncle who have lost two daughters to cancer and a son who is being treated foe leukemia. They also lost a grandson to leukemia. I don't know how they hold up. It is so sad. I am so sorry. There is not a lot you can do but be there for support. I saw that last chance to pre-order and I thought it was for the tower. I did not read the whole posting. Today's workout sounds like a good one.

Carolyn, I have a lot of Jari Love's workouts. I used to do them quite a bit. I liked a lot of the workouts but I always wished she had a bit more pep and the music was better. It kind of made the workouts drag. They are effective though. I like them enough I never wanted to get rid of them. That is a good idea for the ginger tea. I always keep some in the freezer and peel and grate some as needed. If I don't it goes to waste. I have made green smoothies and threw an inch piece in to the mix. It is nice done with some peaches mixed in.

Valerie, it is interesting to see how differently other areas handle jury duty. We also have one theater that has the dinner and bar option in the upper level. I have never been. My children have been at one time or other.

Lynda, I guess that workout is mostly boxing and upper body? It seems she has another live workout that I did like that. I have bought ginger chews and crystalized ginger that is always yummy. It has sugar though.

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I did an indoor ride, 85 minutes and 22 miles. Today I did Burn Sets Premix 9, Upper Body & Core 1. The workout was 89 minutes, then I added a 30 minute stretching session afterwards.

Deb-I read about the new tower workouts on Facebook. It would be very hard for me to give up my morning coffee. Like Lynda, I get a headache if I don't have a little caffeine in the morning.

Lori-I'm sad to hear about Madeline. It's good that you can visit and spend some time with her. I'm thinking about starting STS with Meso 2, as I didn't like Meso 1 very much.

Carolyn-I really like metabolic workouts too. I love ginger tea, but I don't make it fresh. I like Traditional Medicinals tea bags. I bet the fresh tea is really good.

Valerie-I hope I can get some good experience volunteering then maybe I'll be able to find a job.

Lynda-I'm glad you had a good trip! I do remember those midwest state fairs. It sounds like they haven't changed much. I would go with friends but I don't remember ever eating any of the foods. Fuji sounds like our Shadow. She loves to push things off of tables and counters to get attention.

Hi to Diane Sue, Josie & Caitlin!

Judy

Good morning,

Truck loaded...today we unload at the arena and set up all the rings etc. Then we have a practice run at 5:00 where we rent a ring for 15 minutes so we can have the dogs actually work in the ring they will be showing in on Saturday & Sunday...hopefully this will help with their "investigating the ring" when they are supposed to be listening to us!

Lori, glad you arrived safely and that your son Is with you. So sorry that Madeline is not doing well. Having you and Nickolas there is the best thing you can do for her. I looked at the clip of that Band & Glide workout....it looks great, you'll have to let us know how it was.

Carolyn, I agree, metabolic workouts are great! Those and the PHA ones are my favorite weight workouts. How do you make the fresh ginger tea? how much ginger, to water? Do you have to sweeten it?

Valerie, I have never had a corn dog either....they don't have them here at fairs, as I remember...maybe they do now., but not when I was a kid....I never saw one until I went to visit John's parents in Ca. The Dr didn't exactly say to stay off coffee for the duration of the med regime....but he gave me a list of foods to "avoid" so I am taking it that he meant to keep away from it for now.

Lynda, poor Max! How much longer will he have to have the cone on? I should look up that gum...

Diane Sue....that jury system sounds pretty high tech! But they still make everyone show up every day? That's strange to me. Our "call-in" system is great....you call each night between 5:00-7:00...its a recording that states something like" jurors with numbers between 200-300 are to appear tomorrow at 9:00 am" or something like that. If you have a higher number....you can stay home. Then when they fill the juries with however many they need, the recording will say "anyone with a number over 300 is excused from jury duty"

Judy, I also get headaches from lack of caffeine...:(. After almost a week without it, they have subsided for the most part. I actually miss the "routine" of drinking coffee. How is the house hunting going?

Hi to Josie & Caitlin,

Take care,

I did total body metabolic yesterday . I agree, a great workouts. I like the combo of lighter weights and cardio together. will do a road ride this morning. I'm starting to feel like a slacker at only an hour.
I don't much like bear crawls or the funny little "tipping forward" move in between. I seem to be too low to tip and my elbows rest on my knees.... not sure where I go wrong there.

I'm not sure about caffeine headaches but I feel sluggish without coffee. I used to drink a lot more but when DH had to decaffeinate, I did too, to a great degree. I added some back into the mix the last few years but never went crazy. I can't sleep if I have coffee later, lunch is the latest. we were entirely decaffeinated for a while and maybe that short circuited the headache process.

I know DH had to show up for jury duty in person but it was for a local court, just 10 min away. He was eliminated early on in the process. mine will be a "higher level" court if I get called. all I know is I pushed the date to December thinking I would not be traveling anywhere then. somehow my name fell off the list long ago( 35-40 years) and this is the first time I am on the list.
I love ginger, use a lot of fresh. I keep it in the frig in a tub of dry sherry. lasts a long time that way and easier to use than frozen. always gets lost in the freezer! I like the candied pieces too.

Deb, I've been thinking about it....I think we had corn dogs available at the fair but I thought they looked "funny" and never had one. Hopefully your doggies will be all used to the ring and in top performance form!

Good Morning,
Today's workout was Low Impact Sweat 1 +Muscle Meltdown-Back.

Deb, when I make ginger tea I use approximately 1 1/2 to 2 inch piece of fresh ginger and 2 cups of water. You peel and slice the ginger and put the ginger and water in a small saucepan and bring it to a boil. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes. I turn off the fire and let it steep for another 5-10 minutes. It really depends on how strong you want the tea. I don't sweeten it, but some people will add honey and lemon. If I think I am getting a cough or cold I will add honey and lemon.

Not drinking coffee would be very hard fo me. I have cut back quite a bit the last few months, but I still need 2 cups to get going in the morning.

Diane Sue, I haven't had jury duty for several years but I had to go in each day and wait to see if I was selected. Some surrounding counties use the call in system that Deb described. I hope you don't have to go in and sit!

Hello to everyone.

Good morning ladies!

No workout yesterday other than my power walk with Nicholas early morning. Madeline was up and about all day. She usually takes a nap which is when I was planning to workout. But since she did not my time with her was more important than working out. We were up really late just chatting and she is sleeping in right now so I was able to do the Total Body Band and Glide this morning. I really liked it and nice to have another all band workout. Glad Cathe did a Live one. I did not have gliding discs but used some old rags I found and they worked great. When I was done though I felt I could use a little more leg workout so did the standing fire walker sections from Flextrain and LL&As. This did the trick for me and will keep this in mind next time I do this workout.

Deb...I'll send the spreadsheet over on Monday. Boy packing up and setting up then packing up a gain is alot of work! Makes complete sense to have the dogs check things out the day before!

Carolyn...I have never done a Jari Love workout. I have heard of her but do not even know what she looks like.

Valerie...So hard to believe there are some that have never had a corn dog! Loved those as a kid.

Judy...let me know when you will start Meso 2. You and Diane Sue amaze me with youur workouts!

Diane Sue...I am planning to do SB Strengthen and Stretch tonight after Madeline is asleep. Will feel good to do. That is so sad for your Aunt and Uncle.

Lynda...I like the Live Hardstrikes but go into it thinking it is an upperbody workout. I usually only do the boxing part then switch over to something else though. Those darn bear crawls!!!! I can see how people get so fustrated with traffic like that. The tension really can build when you are going to be late for a flight!

Thank you all for your support with Madeline. She means so much to me and this is really hard. :(

Hi everyone--

This morning I did the live Total Body Band and Glide (52 min.). I enjoyed the novelty of the work with the tubing. I will be curious to see if the work on legs with the gliding disks gives me any soreness. The first section is a long standing sequence of sliding legs at various angles and she returns to them later with floor work.

Deb, Max's incision looks pretty good, but Kim is not taking any time off until it is really healed. When he removed the cone before, sure, Max was back there licking. A trial run sounds like an excellent idea for your pups. I hope they do well tomorrow and Sunday.

Lori, it sounds like you are having a great visit with Madeline. I remember the final visits with one of my sisters where we just sat and talked for hours. Very good for both of us.

Diane Sue, we have the call-in the night before on jury duty and they just tell you whether you must come in the next day. Most times not. The one time I ended up on a jury was when I postponed it because I had to fly out to Minnesota to settle a sister's estate in probate court.

Judy, those are long workouts! Fuji also likes to 'play' their piano by 'tripping the light fantastic' on the keys. She also liked sleeping on their old Bose radio and apparently one time turned up the volume so loud she woke them in the middle of the night with the noise. Puccini is definitely less supercilious (actually not as smart) than Fuji and Fuji is always hissing at him to put him in his place. He sure is pretty though--a feral cat my friend decided to adopt with a real mix of Siamese and something(s) else.

Carolyn, thanks for the recipe for ginger tea! I think I would like it.

Valerie, thanks for the idea of putting the ginger in dry sherry to preserve. I always get a chunk and then it molds after I have used what I need for a recipe.

We' re back from our ride, 32 miles. I forgot to stop the timer again ,, must have been about 2 3/4 hours. maybe a little less. I wore some different shorts today but ended up sore. these shorts work better on a mt bike where I sit more upright.

Lynda, I buy a bottle of very cheap dry sherry and use it up over several years. no point in using Dry Sack for this! make sure you cover the ginger completely. I like the freezer storage idea too. the sherry gets a bit of ginger flavor and can be used for cooking , although I usually toss it after it starts getting too much sediment. break up the ginger so it's completely submerged.

Carolyn, when I get a bad cold I add slices of fresh ginger to chicken or vegie broth and simmer it. seems to clear my head and tastes good besides.
I'm hoping we have a call in method for the jury selection. it's a bit of a drive and parking is a problem around there. maybe I'll luck out and get passed over.

Every pic I've seen of Jari Love made me think someone should offer her a sandwich. she seemed very thin, almost emaciated looking. I never looked at her workouts because of it.

Today I went to visit a friend and go to lunch. We always wait so long our visits are several hours long of catching up :) I did Kelly Coffey Amped Up Cardio both workouts, 56 minutes, 375 calories. I then did Ice Muscle Meltdown Chest, 16 minutes 50 calories. I used 15's and 20's for this. I have done 6 weeks of all of the muscle meltdowns and upper body workout but since I just got triceps and chest this was two weeks for each. 78 minutes, 425 calories. I have read most of the posts and will come back in awhile. My granddaughter is on the way over. I ran home and cleaned while my husband is gone and took some Tylenol and laid down. Not feeling great right now. Allergies and lack of sleep. Gertie is having tummy issues again. Not as bad but I had surprise in my bedroom at 3 am yesterday and then again at 5:30 this morning. We are back to chicken and pumpkin again. I don't get it. I don't need her sick when I go to jury duty and no one is here. I am holding off her heartworm and Frontline that is due Monday when I go to court because I want to be here to monitor her.
