Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 9/11

Good evening ladies!

Today is a rest day. I did not sleep at all last night. nilla was up and down up and down. We have steps for her to use to get on the bed, however, she would get down then I guess would forget how to get back up. So she would come over to my side of the bed and bark until I picked her up. Did this like 10 times. I guess she is preparing us for the puppy. :)

Deb...oh I hope you are feeling better by the time you read this. Thanks for the spreadsheets I have printed them out and ready to go. Doggies will be doggies and scratch when they need too!

Josie...I am sorry to hear about your friend. Very sad. 26 years for your brother and of course it still hurts. You always miss your love ones no matter how long it has been.

Carolyn...Happy Birthday. Hoping the appt with your husband goes well. I am also very good at modifying a Cathe workout if need be. I ordered Strong and Sweaty too and can't wait for it.

Diane Sue...keeping my feelings crossed that you are out early again tomorrow!

Judy...I have not heard of that KCM workout. Will need to look it up. Let me know which Ruthless you do!

Lynda...yes it is our annual general managers conference. 3 days 200 people at Universal, Florida. We are at the Sapphire Falls hotel which opened in July of this year. I plan EVERYTHING for this conference other than the actual presentations. I book all the flights, ground transportation to and from airport to hotel, when you eat, when you have fun, how you have fun, even when you go to the bathroom!!! Huge difference having a CEO that understands and appreciates the work involved. I do all this on top of my daily office responsibilities.

Have a good night all!

Judy, I know I have heard of The Shape of Things to Come but I do not think I have that one. I do not have A New You Coming either. I have one that was supposed to be similar. I guess that is one of Kelly's older workouts before 30 minutes to Fitness ? I will have to look and see if that is a name on one of my older ones. I know the cooler weather is coming

Lori, those nights that things keep you awake can be miserable when you awake. It is hard to go back to sleep when it is like that. I have got up in the night to let Gertie outside and once I have crawled out of bed the rest of the night is trying desperately to fall back asleep. I was awake at 4 this morning for some odd reason. I did not want to wake that early. I did not get out of bed till 5:30 because that gave me just enough time to feed Gertie and make my husband breakfast and get ready to leave. It is so hard to get to work out when you are tired.

Diane Sue-yes, those are the workouts that Kelly made before 30 minutes to fitness. They are around an hour each and are cardio sculpting type workouts.

Good morning,

Not doing much better....calling the DR today to see if this is a reaction to the meds.. Things seemed to be improving, but not after last night's dinner....ugh....I was up at 1:00....came downstairs not to bother John....and was up and down after that.

Josie, sorry about your sadness with the memory of your brother and losing your friend, :(.

Lynda, its chilly in the morning here too, but still getting up to almost 80 during the day...that is perfect weather.

Carolyn, I think you will like the Strong & Sweaty series....especially the ones that are like the LIVE workouts...

Diane Sue, thanks for the info on the reflux meds.....I will be asking them if they can switch to a different one....I would think there are different formulas/active ingredients. I can't keep up with this any longer. Here, if you were on jury duty and excused early, you usually were told not to come back.

Judy, great workouts! I have never seen any of the KCM's that were before the 30 MTF ones.. they sound good.

Lori, yep, I think Nilla was giving you a sample of things to come. :), Wow, those duties to plan the conference are crazy! How many people from your company attend that you are "in charge" of? When you go, do you get some down time to relax? You should after all that planning!

Valerie, you must be travelling...

Take care,

Hi everyone--

This morning I did RS with 1 lb. gloves (47:59).

Happy belated birthday, Carolyn! Like Lori, another Virgo (I think!).

Lori, that is a lot of planning to do. You must be super-organized to get all of that done. That's very sweet of you to put up with Nilla like that. Reminds me of getting up and down with my sons when they were babies.

Deb, I hope you feel better soon. If it's the meds for acid reflux, maybe your doctor can find something less prone to give you other problems.

Judy, I was a late comer to KCM's workouts too. How long were her early ones?

Diane Sue, I guess you are getting a rest week (whether you want to or not!). How long do you have to keep going back?

I am off to see a professional dressmaker this afternoon. I decided after looking at this pattern I bought that I don't think I can figure it out and I don't want to ruin this beautiful Italian silk I found in Minnesota. The pattern looks like something from Downton Abbey--a Vintage pattern with a lot of instructions on bias binding and all sizes in the same package. Just looking at all the pattern lines made me go cross-eyed.

Deb-I hope you feel better soon

Lynda-KCM's earlier workouts are just under an hour long. Her first one came out in 2005 (The Shape of Things to Come)

Today I did Cardio Supersets from the Low Impact series. Those plank moves with slide and glide discs like slow mountain climbers have always been very hard for me, but today I was able to do more than usual. Don't you love when you realize that you are getting stronger? I didn't work out for most of 2015, until November so in many ways I have felt like a beginner again.

I have many KCM DVDs, but not her earlier ones. I just found her Shape Up dvd in my stacks. I didn't remember ordering it. That was during the time that I allowed work to consume my life--thankfully I have recovered!

We saw the cardiologist yesterday and he has ordered additional testing which is what I expected. They think it's a medication problem but want to rule out other issues.

Lori, your organizational skills sound amazing. I have helped to organize large conferences but as a committee member not the person with the majority of responsibility.

I hope everyone is having a great day.

Good evening ladies...

No workout today. I hate going 2 days without a workout but working way to many hours and on hardly any sleep. Today I actually got out at a decent time and was planning to do Hardstrikes, but there was an accident and I was stuck in traffic! Ugh!!

Deb...I hope you get some relief soon. We have 126 employees attending and the rest are our vendors...totaling 201 to be exact! :) I get no down time whatsoever. When everyone goes into the parks for free time I have behind the scenes stuff to do. I love it though so all is good.

Carolyn...congrats on the strength gains! Awesome!!! The conference is a lot of work but as I mentioned to Deb, I love it. But I will admit I will love when it is over! Right now I am planning 2 of our 3 dinners, a Luau/Casino night with a pig roast and all - then the next night is Margaritaville.

Lynda...I love my little Nilla. She is such a diva. I am so exhausted from lack of sleep the past couple of nights with her having fun at night but she is 16 and I can't get mad at her. I really do feel like she is a little baby at times!. You need to take pictures of that dress when it is finished. Sounds like it will be beautiful!

Have a great night all!!

I am finally done with jury duty. I sat in the jury box for another trial and was eliminated today. They let me go home since there was not another trial other than some misdemeanor stuff tomorrow. If I would have stayed on this last trial I would have been there till Friday. My son in law took me to lunch today at a bagel shop/sandwich shop. We both had Rueben sandwiches I have not had one in so long.

Deb, they let a lot of the people that were eliminated on the first jury I was in go home but the picked a group of us to do this other trial and we had to come back. All of us that were picked went to the courtroom today. I was in the first group chosen for the jury box. Generally in the past I have been released after the first court room. I really hope that you can get some relief. I am sorry you are having all of this digestive stuff going on. It makes it hard to be active when you feel like that.

Judy, I looked over Kelly Coffey's workouts and I think there are 3 of the ones she did before 30 minutes to Fitness that I do not have. One of the first 30 minutes to fitness weights only one I bought was used a lot. I really do have most of her workouts. I need Plateau Buster and I think there is one with a low impact cardio on it that I never purchased.

Lynda, I never did like it when they started making sewing patterns to fit several different sizes. I would end up cutting on the wrong line. It would be such a shame to ruin a beautiful piece of silk. I am ready for my break to be over. I kind of took a break and eating whatever I wanted when we went out as well. Although I did have roast with carrots and potatoes and a kale salad all ready when I got home since it was family dinner at my house. My children that live in the country have Wednesday Bible study and youth activities and they meet here for dinner so they are closer to their destination.

Carolyn, I love it when I go back to something I used to think was really hard and it no longer seems hard. Nice work on building more strength. I love the upper body work in Kelly's Shape Up. She does them in timed tabata rounds. I got that one right around the time I had knee surgery though. The lower part is a lot of jumping in it. That is good that they are making doing some more tests and being thorough before they diagnose the problem with your husband.

Lori, that sounds exhausting. It sounds like you have the planning pretty much done and it is the pulling it all together. It should be fun when the time comes. You need a good rest before the event though. I can understand your love for Nilla. That is sweet.

Good morning,

Well the DR got my appointment with a specialist moved up to today at 3:15. Not sure what they will tell me but assume I will be scheduled for some tests. Anything to figure out what to do about this.

Lynda, yes I think its the meds. They are magnesium based, and I read somewhere before that too much magnesium can cause diarrhea. Damned if I do, and damned if I don't...take them that is. I hope the other meds that are available are not magnesium based. I think seeing a professional dressmaker is a great idea! Now if it was me,, I would just hand over the material and pattern and let her have at it. :) Like Lori said, definitely take pictures of the dress so we can see it.

Carolyn, cudos to you for being able to do those moves now! I hope all goes well with your DH's tests and it is a medication problem.

Lori, I don't know how you can plan air travel for all those people! I can understand why you would not have time now for a workout. Cute little Nilla! When do you get the puppy?

Diane Sue, great that you were finally excused. I bet you are glad to get back to your regular routine.

Hi to Josie, Judy & Valerie,

Take care,

Good luck with your DR appointment Deb. Too much magnesium can cause issues like that and you may be more sensitive to it.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did live Stability Ball Total Body Weights (54 min.). I liked this one very much, even though I kept losing my ball in the final section. I guess it wanted to be in the kitchen. I think it's a bit under-inflated because it doesn't have as much bounce as it used to (but then neither do I).

Deb, I sure hope you get some help with your gastric issues. No fun!

Carolyn, I can't really do a lot of those sliding disk moves in the plank position. I just do the moves without the disks. You must feel good about your progress. Good luck on the extra tests for your DH!

Lori, the most important thing is that you enjoy your work and it sounds like you do--and being appreciated by your new boss for all you do. Reminds me of a character on Suits--an executive secretary who can fix everything.

Diane Sue, I can't remember the last time I had a Reuben sandwich. Yum! This pattern had 9 different sizes printed on it! I don't mind 3, but this just got to me and I shook my head NO. The dressmaker is very busy, but she said maybe it will be done by my birthday in November. I can wait. I guess we should be pleased that we live in a country that relies on its citizens to decide how justice is served, but I bet you are happy to have finished with jury duty.

Really feels like fall here--only going up into the 60s and down to the 40s tonight. Brr!

My workout today was Chiseled Upper Body. Deb, I hope the doctor is able to give you some relief. I'm sure you must be very frustrated after all this time.

Hello to everyone.

Today I did Kelly Coffey 30 minutes to Fitness cardio blast workout #1 Step Blast 36 minutes, 249 calories. I then did Ice Metabolic Total Body timesaver mix, w/u, blizzard blast, muscle meltdown chest, stretch, 39 minutes, 203 calories. I also did the core work from Amy Bento Slo Mo, 15 minutes, 38 calories. I used a 35# barbell for the rollouts. I added Barre Amped Strengthen and Stretch, lower body stretch, 20 minutes. Total time was 1 hour 50 minutes, 508 calories.
weights today giant sets, 5 exercises, 12 reps, 3 rounds
push ups 12 reps , 12 reps, 12 reps
flat bench press 20,20,20 pair
flat bench fly 17.5, 17.5, 17.5 pair
incline bench press 20, 20,20 pair
incline flys 17.5, 17.5, 17.5 pair

Deb, I hope that things go well at the doctor this afternoon and you get the help that you need.

Lynda, I had several stability balls. I gave 3 to my daughter when she was teaching and they used them in the classrooms when she was teaching. I usually use my Bosu Ballast ball that has the sand or whatever the weighty filling is in it. It does not roll away. I still keep another aired up that is a Theraband ball. I just kept getting those from Beach Body and had no use for that many.

I just saw that Kelly Coffey gave a description of her upcoming workouts. They look good. One is heavy bag which I had seen pictures of Kelly doing. A metabolic workout. Also the second dvd looks good for using with others since it is a put your own workout together with whatever 15 minute workouts that you want to use. She even has a yoga workout on it.

Good evening ladies!

No workout in the morning. Went in early. Came home and did today's Live Long and Sculpted Legs. I really liked it and the hamstrings with ball was killer.

Diane Due...yeah Jury Duty is over! I take a break every now and then and eat whatever I want. Usually for a weekend then that is it...right back to eating better. I don't go crazy but every now and then it is good. I like KCM's Shape Up a lot. I hardly do it though because I never think of doing it. Going to look at her new workouts now.

Deb...I really hope you turn the corner soon. This has been a week already of you not feeling well. That would be great if the magnesium is the culprit. Switch the meds and fingers crossed you get better. I feel for you!

Lynda...how often do you fill your ball? I have 2 and have only filled them when I first got them. Must be several years now. They still seem to be fine. I know you are not a fan of hamstring and ball workout so wanted you to be aware that they are in todays class. Boy did I feel my hamstrings when it was over! I do enjoy what I do and I love my new boss. What a difference from last years conference. I am not ready for Fall...I am still holding on to Summer!

Have a great night all!

Hi to Josie, Judy, Carloyn, Valerie and Caitlyn!

Good morning,

Well I went to the DR and now have an appointment for an endoscopy next week. I stopped the other med on my own because I couldn't get an answer from my GP and this guy prescribes a different one that is still magnesium based....really???? I will be calling them this morning to question this. I am not happy with this whole situation...I don't know what to do any more..:(

Lynda, glad you liked that Live workout, it's on my List.

Diane Sue, glad that you are finally excused from jury duty. I have to go over and see those KCM descriptions...I guess they are on her own site, not FB.

Lori, thanks for the info on the Live workout from yesterday...I am also one that does not like the hamstring/ball moves.

Hi to Judy, Carolyn, Josie, and the travelling Valerie....

Take care,

Hi Everyone,

Wednesday I did a Jessica Smith workout- 6 Mile Mix and Ruthless Core & Flex. Yesterday I did Cathe Live-Long & Sculpted Legs & Jessica Smith-Cardio Interval Abs. I really like the JS workouts. I will be doing more of these.

Deb-I hope you feel better and that your endoscopy goes well. It seems like the specialist could prescribe something without magnesium.

Lori-I'm another one that has problems doing the hamstrings with the ball move that Cathe does. That was the only thing I had to modify yesterday. I could only do a couple like she does before my hamstrings and calves cramp up so I ended up doing bridges on the ball instead. I liked the Ruthless core workout. It wasn't as hard as I expected, but definitely a good core routine. Lori-I use a hand-pump to fill my stability ball. I got it on Amazon, something like this one:
https://www.amazon.com/FlagHouse-38...28983&sr=8-2&keywords=pump+for+stability+ball

Lynda-we haven't gotten into the 40's yet but it's coming. Like Lori, I'm holding onto summer as long as I can.

Diane Sue-I'm looking forward to the new KCMs. They sound great!

Carolyn-great progress! I love it when that happens! I hope everything goes well with your husband's tests.

Hi to Josie, Valerie and Caitlin!

Good morning,
My workout today was All Out Low Impact HiiT plus Core 1. It's a good workout that I haven't done in a while.

Diane Sue, I know you must be happy to get back to your normal routine after jury duty. Was the information about the new KCM workouts on her website?

Lynda, I have had to fill my ball once in all the years that I've had it, but I think it needs more air now. I also have a hand pump. My grandchildren are fascinated by the ball and they wore it down when they were here in June.

Judy, I've never done a Jessica Smith workout, but I have thought about trying one of her DVDs.

Deb, I hope you feel better soon.

My youngest daughter is home for the weekend and we will have great family time.

Greetings to Lori, Valerie, Josie, and Caitlin.

Hi all.. I'm back. haven't read the whole thread ... we had a good trip but are back early. the weather was lovely!. not much fall color yet but starting. we did quite a bit of mountain biking near Kalispel and Whitefish. one set of trails was especially nice. some others didn't work out. we wanted to do some hiking in Glacier NP but only did one. it was WAY overcrowded. must have been 200 people on a 2 mile trail. not what we had in mind! We then had a camper electrical problem. solar charger on the roof stopped charging. there are inside monitors and they went to zero. checked as much as we could there, but decided to start home early. the solar unit recharges the batteries that run things. never had a problem with it before. then it started working again. we suspect a loose connection somewhere. it is definitely fall there.it froze every night and the main road thru the park was closed because of snow for several days.

I stubbed my toe in the middle of the night on the ONE step inside the camper. hit it straight on! it turned purple and was very sore. DH fell biking once and hurt his hand. both of us are OK now.

Deb, so sorry to hear this has not resolved. I am very sensitive to magnesium and stay clear of it. MOM is a 4 letter word in this house.
diane sue, the whole jury duty thing sounds like a major PITA. you should enjoy those few days off without working out.. give yourself a rest.

lori, what a bad date to have a birthday. negatives all over the place. I also don't watch any 9/11 re hashes. we were on vacation when it happened and I refuse to relive the whole thing again. More later... want to go on a ride to get the kinks out after driving all day yesterday.
