Good morning,

Sorry I was MIA yesterday...went to the ER after an awful night....apparently the "issue" was not cleared up with the original anti-biotic. 3 days after being done with them, it all came back. Of course it's a Friday night, all DR offices and even the After Hours places are closed. So I got a hold of my GI doctor ( who luckily for me was the doctor on call for the weekend) and he said to go to the Er, get a culture done etc. We spent 5 hours there yesterday. Ugh....glad that is over.

Diane Sue, Happy Birthday! Your dinner sounds lovely...also the dress! We felt like you did about cable TV. We were paying and never watching anything, I don't miss it at all.

Valerie, my Forester is a 2015, John has a 2016. I swear they don't even consider a "regular person" having to do some of those clock settings etc, or...to read that book, which is the worst manual I have ever come across. I had the appointments correct on my phone calendar, just my brain was out of sync. :) I do like the back up camera, but it took me a bit to get used to it.

Carolyn, good for you for sticking with a 54 minute yoga workout! I bet that felt good.

Lori, what is it that you feel bad about with Nilla? I must have missed something. Good that she is sleeping better, both for her and you!

Judy, great workouts this week. That is nice that Chris got a new bike, have fun!

Have a great day!

Deb-I'm so sorry you had to go to the ER. Did they give you a new antibiotic yet? I hope you start feeling better soon.

Deb so sorry this keeps coming back. Hope there are some other ideas on what to do next. Lucky your doc was the on call person. Much better than having him get all info via someone else's notes. Our cousin had a long bout with c diff but it finally cleared up . He is very reluctant to take antibiotics now as he's afraid of a relapse.

No way could I change the clock while driving as a front passenger. The series of things you need to scroll and press makes no sense and I still haven't gotten thru it once
We used the radio without issue yesterday and enjoy the Sirius but won't continue it after the free period. We had it on our truck and found the reception poor wherever there are trees. it shows the artist name song title and album cover but DH said it was distracting to the driver to have that screen visible. We are so conditioned to look st screens. I found polarized sunglasses blocked much of the visual. The screen is so sensitive it's extremely easy to bump something you don't intend. Car drives very nicely so my only complaints are the electronics

Today is a rest day for me. Deb, so sorry that you continue to have problems. I hope this time will take care of it. I really enjoyed the yoga workout. I am not always in the mood for a long session, but some days it works for me. I am at an age where the stretching and flexibility training are very important.

Diane Sue, I'm sure that you are having a wonderful day. Who makes the birthday cake for you?

Valerie, there is so much technology in cars now that it's no wonder that we see so many distracted drivers. I don't use any of it when I'm driving.

Judy, you had a great exercise week. Has your lower back pain gone away?

Hello to Lori and Caitlin.

Good afternoon ladies,

Yesterday a combination of some SB and Bellicon Bounces. Bob nd I went on a little bike ride in the afternoon to the center of town. Was only 5 miles round trip but it was a nice ride and a good start for him. Today was the Advanced ReboundFit and then GiGi and I went for a walk on the side road of our house. I used to walk chester here but due to a house being built way down the road there was just too much comotion for GiGi. Today it was enjoyable. Was about a 3 mile walk and no cars for GiGi to lunge at. There was a beautiul white golden retriever at the new house and GiGi and him quickly became friends. I am so happy this walked worked out well for her. I will now walk her more often.

Deb...I am so sorry about your GI issues. Hoping this gets better really soon. I am feeling bad about keeping Nilla in the bathroom at night. But she seems to be doing well. We brought her in our room Friday night and we got no sleep. After that we know she needs to stay in the bathroom at night.

Diane Sue....HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Enjoy your day! Yes...who does make the cake for you? Lol!

Judy...nice that you and Chris went for a ride too! We had a great time and I am going to love our little rides together. He will never go long distance but I am happy going into town or to the mountain and back with him. Both 5ish miles round trip.

Valerie...I love technology but would never change the clock while driving. My husband enjoyed the trial peroid of Sirius but not enough to continue when the trial ended.

Caroyln...you deserve a rest day. You have been doing great with STS. Nice that you are seeing results. I am enjoying our hybrid of P90X that my son and I are doing. I like doing the weight workouts and then our own thing in place of the plyo, yoga and kenpo. It is keeping it fresh for us. The kenpo is really not intense at all compared to some of Cathe's kickboxing that I have done. Even the Leg workout is not as intense. I find myself using weights a lot when they are just using their body weights. Cathe does some of the same exercises using weight so this is what I am used to. My son said I was a beast doing the leg workout!!! I laughed and told him it was all Cathe! :)

Hi to Caitlin! ...hope the move is going well.

Beautiful here today. About to have lunch then we are going to use the pool. Not many days left to enjoy it.

I am making a big deal about the clock changing because when we drive to MT, we need do it each direction. I am reminded often of either how easy it is , or how difficult. it was always so simple, I never would have guessed that would be complex. my watch is easy one direction but not the other due to a software glitch. the vehicles I always did while driving. well, no more. Lori that is what we got to with Sirius..... we paid for it for a while. It worked in open areas, but we have too much tree cover around here and it breaks up constantly, plus they kept upping the price. short rides might lead to longer ones... you never can tell.
Deb, all car manuals are pretty awful these days. since we've had so many subarus, I can't compare to any other except the ford truck but that's from m2009 and it has surprisingly little electronic stuff.

we rode our regular sunday ride, 25 miles 2 hrs 15 minutes. we used my old Subaru and the old bike rack. worked fine. we think the heavier mt bikes are what generated the dent in our Outback, especially our very old bikes that we traded in on these a year or so ago. we got the bike rack yesterday as planned and will get the hitch put on tomorrow. it is a 4 bike rack so we should be able to take our bikes to MT with us without worrying.
Carolyn this is the first car we have had where we felt the screen was a distraction. we have skipped the fancier electronics and a lot of the changes have been the last 5 years, as out '12 outback was pretty basic. we didn't get a GPS set up in this one either. if I need it...usually do not... I use a paper map or phone. a majority of the places we go do not get reliable GPS information. I think I've said before, I don't use the phone while driving except extremely rarely, and usually pull off if I absolutely need to use it. I have never had an intelligible conversation with anyone using their mobile connection while driving. always static and broken up. Why take the risk?

Hi Everyone,

Today I did a spinerval, then I did a short outdoor ride with Chris.

Deb-I hope you are feeling better.

Carolyn-I still have a little low back pain, but it's much better than before. Thanks for asking! I agree about stretching and flexibility training being important. I've learned that the hard way and I know now that I need to devote at least one day a week to yoga and stretching.

Lori-the weather has been beautiful here too! I agree that there won't be that many more great weather days left. Fall is in the air and it will be getting much cooler soon. We are determined to keep riding outside until the snow starts.

Valerie-great ride, as usual! I really like Chris's new bike. It has tubeless tires and a 2×9 drivetrain, instead of the 3x9. He's not sure if he will like tubeless tires, but he can always go back to using tubes if not.

Diane Sue-Happy Birthday! Hope you had a wonderful day!

Caitlin-I hope the move is going well and that you like New Jersey. What part of the state will you be moving too?

Judy

Good morning,

Just resting and trying to stay hydrated....

It sounds like everyone had a nice weekend!

Take care,

Today's workout was Ripped With Hiit Hiit Upper Circuit, 46 minutes, 304 calories, heart rate 122 average and 167 max, 1,932 steps. I kept the weights at Cathe's weights as this rotation has a lot of upper body work 3 days in a row. Tomorrow is Strong and Sweaty Boot Camp Followed by Ramped Up Upper on Wednesday. I have so much to do to get ready for company this weekend and am going to my daughters to help troubleshoot her printer not printing today. Lots of errands. I think workouts will have to be somewhat shorter as far as add ons this week.
I had a nice birthday. As far as cake for my birthday it was family that brought two grocery store bakery cakes :) I am making two cheese cakes for my daughter's birthday next Sunday. I figured I needed two as I will be bringing my niece and her family as well. I can make those ahead and freeze them to help with time constraints.

Deb, I am so sorry that you had to go in to the emergency room. I hope you can get plenty of rest and get on top of all of this.

Valerie , I can understand why you need to figure that clock setting out asap. I hope it becomes easier after you figure it out.

Judy, a Spinerval and a bike ride sounds like plenty. It sounds like you are having fun with the riding.

Lorie that is wonderful that Gigi is doing better with the walks. I know she must love it.

Carolyn, I hope you enjoyed your rest day. I know what you mean about the stretching and flexibility training. I think that it is important for everyone, but many that are younger do not realize the importance.

Deb so sorry this is dragging on so long. You must be getting incredibly tired of the whole mess.

diane sue I'm whining because I have to do the clock setting often. we are planning another MT trip for mid September. Glad you had a good birthday.

weight workout of some kind today, and getting the hitch installed.

Today was STS D10--Chest,Shoulders, and Biceps. Total time was 1 hour and 30 minutes and 344 calories. Average heart rate was 100 and maximum heart rate 141. I followed up with the Extended Stretch for 15 minutes.

Diane Sue, I'm glad that you had a good birthday celebration. My family buys a bakery cake for my birthday also. It definitely sounds like shorter workouts will be on schedule for you this week.

Valerie, have you tried Ramped Up Upper Body from the Strong and Sweaty series? I really like that one.

Hello to everyone and have a great day.

Carolyn, yes, I did Ramped up quite a few times. I like that one too. I tend to pick a workout and repeat it regularly for a few weeks before moving to something new. since I throw in road and mt biking and hiking, I like having the efficiency of a known workout. I like getting a leg workout mixed in. I like rediscovering old workouts too. for some reason I didn't like high reps when I first got it because it moved so fast. guess I adapted.

I'm making DH a blueberry pound cake right now. never tried this one before, but he can eat a lot more goodies than I can. Diane sue I didn't know you could freeze cheesecake. the texture stays OK? I used to absolutely love cheesecake but have gotten away from desserts too often and I hate to toss half of it.

Good evening ladies,

No workout this morning. Was up late watching the finale of Game of Thrones. Then I was wide awake and took forever to fall asleep. Came home and we did Chest, Shoulders and Tris. Afterwards GiGi and I went for a 2 mile walk/jog. I jogged most of the way with a few breaks here and there. Or I should say I had no choice to jog because she was pulling me like a rag doll. We both loved it though!

Valerie...are there still manuals? Most everything is online these days. I will admit that does get a little fustrating for me when I have to look something up.

Judy...awesome you are going to ride that late in the season. Not sure how long we will go. My husband is not athletic at all but I am very happy he wants to bike.

Deb...hope you feel better soon. How is Keegan?

Diane Sue...well the thought was there for your cakes. Very nice they brought them for you. I guess not everyone bakes like you do! She loved her walk today and I am looking forward to many more. I have been feeling really guilty aboit not walking her. Chester and I went on many walks. I played ball every day with her but it wasn't the same. This will work out nice.

Carolyn...wow that is a long workout! I do not remember the STS workouts being that long! Great job!

Madeline was diagnosed over 2 years ago with stage 4 lung cancer and she has had her ups and downs but all and all she has really fought hard. Initially, we were told less than a year. We have been blessed that she has done this well. Yesterday, we received some sad news. The cancer has been active throughout, but contained - but now it has spread to her kidneys. She has lost a tremendous amount of weight. She has started with a different chemo pill so we will see how this goes. I am starting to prepare myself as I know it will not be too far off. The cards are really against her. Nicholas and I are planning to visit her late September early October. :(

Yes Lori there is a big owners manual. at least half of its pages are the radio! we never have problems when we are in internet range so are glad we have a paper version, even though it is hard to decipher. they try to word things so carefully that is becomes almost impossible to understand what they are trying to say, but at least the pics show where to put the jack etc.
Lori I never had a chance to see my friend again because when it went.... it went fast. not sure this is like pancreatic, but my advice would be to go sooner rather than later. or at least monitor closely. I had jury duty put off already and I should have cancelled and gone to see her. I didn't think a week or two would matter but it did. I will always feel regrets.

I did High reps again, almost the whole thing including abs. I skipped over one leg chapter at the end. DH was hungry and whining for lunch. I raised weights on much of the rest of it.

Deb yes, how are Kelsey and Keegan doing? are they over their ordeal?

Good morning,

Diane Sue, nice birthday! I had never heard of freezing cheesecake either. That is really convenient.

Carolyn, that must be one of the longer STS workouts! You are doing great with this rotation.

Valerie, if I had to travel through different time zones and had to change my car clock frequently, I would go crazy. I dread the 2 times a year I have to change it now. Blueberry pound cake sounds delicious. Kylee is back to normal....I think I am more traumatized that she is. We bought pepper spray to take with us on walks. see below for Keegan update.

Lori, so sorry to hear about Madeline. She has put up a great fight.. She has had so much love and support. I hope you and your son will get to see her. Your "walk" with Gigi sounds more like a "drag"...LOL....:). Keegan is doing ok. He is still on a special diet and some meds.

Have a great day!

Today was Strong and Sweaty Bootcamp, 46 minutes, 318 calories, heart rate average 123, max 160, 1932 steps. I added on Ice Bootcamp Circuit Blizzard blast, 12 minutes, 79 calories, heart rate average 118, max 140, 566 steps. Total time was 58 minutes, 397 calories. Lots to do today. I spent the whole day at my daughters yesterday. Skipped breakfast and lunch (my doing as I was offered lunch, just kept thinking I would find a solution sooner). I went to the bank and it closed at 4 on the way back. I was 7 minutes too late :( So, I stopped at Sprouts, extremely hungry and picked up a couple of things along with a Primal Kitchen Collagen protein bar and some kombucha tea and ate the bar driving the rest of the way to my house. So, today I have to go back out and try to get some baking and cleaning done. I did not solve the printer issue. I even took her another printer I had and it printed two pages wirelessly and would bot do it anymore. I think her internet is too slow and her particular computer is not working well with that. I updated it and tried all kinds of stuff. I was able to print to print from my samsung tablet which I took with me. She has iphone and we could not find just regular HP e-print for her to try to use her phone. only enterprise. I think she will have to hook up straight to the printer to do her stuff. The only thing is she cannot always get on some things she needs to get on with her computer. I am not a technician, just have to read and trouble shoot. HP troubleshooting was useless. Her computer was also set to public and changing that took some research as well with Windows 8.1. I think we need to bring her computer over to my house and ssee how it works with our internet.

Carolyn, my son in law made me a cake last year. He even made it yellow cake with chocolate frosting which he knew I liked better than just chocolate. I seriously am not a fan of chocolate cake.

Valerie, cheesecake freezes well. My one marble cheesecake recipe says you can freeze it for up to 3 weeks. The trick is making sure you put it in the refrigerator to thaw well ahead of serving it. Restaurants often purchase them frozen. I had some at Olive Garden once that still had the frozen ice crystals in the middle. Cheese cake is a favorite of mine. I decorate the cheese cakes with a sour cream and melted chocolate or white chocolate spread and edging. One of them will have pink circus animal cookies as part of the decoration. and pink swirls. Great job raising weights on high reps..

Lori, the family did make me dinner. They bought chicken and grilled it. My older daughter said she knew I would like chicken more than hamburgers. They also bought a veggie tray, baked beans, and kettle chips (my favorite chip) :D I feel guilty with Gertie at times and that is why I do not mind bending down and tossing her toy for her to fetch while I am working out. As soon as I start she runs and gets her latest replacement favorite toy for me to toss. She will generally bring it back and place it a bit out of my way. I am sorry that Madeline has took a turn for worse. I know it must be heart wrenching for you.

Deb, I can understand you being more traumatized than Kyle. I am glad things are getting back to normal. Kyle is still fine around other dogs, I guess? It seems there would be a bit of fear, but maybe it is just the aggression. Dogs are so forgiving of things like that. Pepper Spray is a good idea.

Today I did Cardio Core Circuit. I used some low impact modifications, but did many exercises as presented. My workout time was 51 minutes with 375 calories burned. Average heart rate was 129 and maximum heart rate was 159.

Lori, yes yesterday's workout was long but part of that was due to pauses. The actual workout time is 58 minutes but I paused to record my weights and reps and to change out equipment. Moving the chair in and out, changing my weighted gloves, putting the step on an incline, getting mat and stability ball, etc. all took quite a bit of time. I usually plan for that much time but sometimes it is a little less. I'm sorry that Madeline is not doing well. I hope you get to visit her soon.

Diane Sue, our heart rate stats and calories burned are similar today. I would have been very frustrated with trying to get the printer to work. I lose patience after a while. I can sometimes leave a technology troubleshooting task and come back later for better results.

Enjoy your day everyone.

Deb,pepper spray is a good plan. I used to carry it all the time when we ran. we carry pepper ( bear size) spray when we hike in grizzly country, and also on mt bike rides . it fits in the bike bottle cage. important to have it easily accessible. don't have it buried in a purse or backpack. when you need it you need it NOW.

Interestingly, I got sore legs from yesterdays workout. mainly my thighs. guess upping the weight was the right thing. upper body didn't get sore. this might be a good time to revisit Ramped up upper body and let my legs recover.
Carolyn, I saved time recording weight in STS. I never did the 1 rep max tests. instead I was diligent about recording weight for everything, up or down arrow after whatever weight I used. no marks if the weight was right. worked well for me. the first time thru I paused a lot.

I would not complain so much about the clock except I will likely be doing it 2x every month.

yesterday was interesting. got our hitch put on. as I was coming down a freeway exit ramp, when someone turned on and drove the wrong way up the ramp. it was not a dangerous situation for us but so weird... DH was talking about something and suddenly I realized all three lanes were supposed to be going south, and here comes a guy northbound. I honked like crazy but he kept going and figured it out in another hundred yards when he was confronted by a bunch of other cars getting off. so glad we got the hitch. much more stable rack, will easily switch from vehicle to vehicle. wish we'd done it sooner.

diane sue that is interesting about cheesecake. I never thought about freezing one. what a great way for portion control... a nice homemade dessert that you can slice off a piece and defrost as needed. I stopped making it because it was too easy to eat too much too often.

ETA also after sitting in the frig for several days, the quality starts to deteriorate. fruit gets runny, crust soggy etc. I will try freezing. I always freeze cookies and most cakes since DH does not eat them that fast and I have myself rationed to one(1) spoonful or forkful almost all the time now.

Carolyn, yes our stats were all very close today. I told my daughter to bring her laptop to my house since we have 150 mbp speed and we will see if it is indeed the internet. That way she can deal with AT&T again. I can then go check on her private over public settings and if need be go into the security management properties and change the wording to private instead of public if she wants me to. Apparently Windows 8.1, once set to either private or public in the network area stays with that wording even if you change the settings to where it would be private. Anyway, that is what I read. Mine is private and I compared the settings with what my research said to do to make it private for her. She did it so I need to check on if she got my instructions correct. Yes, if I leave sometimes something else comes to mind and I make things work. I came home last night and up till bed time I was still searching for other ideas to help. The printer I took over to try if their other one didn't work is one I had given them before and they couldn't get it to work. I have messed with it multiple times and finally got it to work with a full set of brand new HP cartridges and running alignment and head cleaning multiple times along with print checks. It works fine now. It probably sat too long unused.

Valerie, I thought that it was interesting that when I first started doing the Fit Tower workouts and wearing ankle weights that my glutes and hamstrings were very sore. Odd, how a switch can make such a difference. I often freeze desserts in small portions. Christmas and Thanksgiving with all of those pies everyone brings over and leaves. I freeze the pecan and fruit pies in individual slices (these are the ones I like). I cannot do that with the chocolate and lemon that the family all seem to head for the most. I am so so on pumpkin and my husband will eat the left overs. I fully understand on the cheese cake though. My favorite and it is hard not to keep eating it. I freeze cookies in smaller batches and the same with cake. Then I pull them out for company. I don't really have a lot of love for cake.
