Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 8/06/2023

No workout today. I got home from my appointment at the time I would normally workout but was just not in the mood for it. They were quick to get me in. I arrived 40 minutes early and expected to have a wait.
They are going to schedule me a procedure where they run a scope from the nose to the lung to check for infection. The doctor says I have bronchiectasis. There is not a cure and they need the test to know if there is infection so they can know what meds and antibiotics to give me. He spent a lot of time explaining everything and asked if I had any questions. He would have scheduled for next week but my husband is working on his usual single day off. They will put me to sleep so I have to have someone drive me home. Then he said he could do it the 25th, but that is when we leave town to celebrate my birthday. So, it ended that they would call and set up a day.

Valerie, they were fast getting the mammogram results back to you. I am sure that was a relief. I get a lot of stuff in email from shopping. I have purchased from places for gifts for others and then I get an onslaught of emails.

Judy, nice job on Live PHA Super Sets 2 no repeats Tuesday, Yin Yoga yesterday and today's Peloton Ride and Peloton arms and light weights.

Carolyn, good job on X Train chest, back and shoulders.

Cathy, I would be useless on 3 hours of sleep. Nice work getting in STS 2 chest. My dog would be so excited to see a racoon or skunk. Our other house had lots of oak trees and they hung low over our back yard so squirrels would taunt the dog. Once in a while I would go out with her and found a squirrel perched on the side of the water bowl.

This morning I did XTrain Cardio Leg Blast, rounds 1-6. My time was 37 minutes with 237 calories burned. My average heart rate was 129 and maximum heart rate was 157.

Valerie, that’s great that you got the mammogram done and have the results already. It’s always a relief to get the official results. I’m sure that you will like the iMac desktop since you are already an Apple user.

Judy, great job with PHA Supersets 2 no repeats, Yin Yoga, 45 minute Peloton ride, and Peloton arms.

Diane Sue, it sounds like the appointment with the Pulmonologist was a good thing for you to do. Hopefully you can get the follow up appointment scheduled soon.

Waving hello to Cathy.

the imac is really DH's device. we tend to disagree about computer usage things so have always had separate systems. the only thing I dont like is the keyboard. its tiny. I doubt I can type on it. DH cant type ( hunt/ peck) so it wont make any difference to him. I dont type very well but I do type, have trouble with flat keys close together. hand arthritis that I work around. keyboard looks like trouble for me.

carolyn it was great to get results so quickly. I didn't expect to know for several days with a letter. a huge improvement. gets rid of worrying immediately.

I agree, cathy I would be a flailing blob of tissue on 3 hours of sleep. no way.

diane sue, hope you can get that scheduled and done. I hate things hanging around and prefer to get it done.

last appt for a bit this morning, and went fine.

Opted for no workout today and just shopped. Also got an oil change and car wash (I was due for my free one) and adding in library and bank (which was out of my way) made for a really long morning and part of the afternoon. Since I want to get caught back up in my rotation, I used the workout blender and put together a bi's and triceps workout that uses all the exercises. Used warm up and cool down from triceps and then it alternates between the two doing all of one exercise (when there's more than one set) and then switching to the other area. Ended up being an hour long.

Valerie the fires in Maui are just horrifying and with so many people missing the death toll is just going to rise. Great news on the mammogram and that you got your X-rays set up. Yeah these days you just have to accept that anything you google is gonna show up other places. Hopefully getting the new desktop helps.

Caroline great job with XTrain Chest, Back, and Shoulders.

Judy nice job with Live #366, PHA Super Sets 2, No Repeats, yoga, Peloton ride and weights. I hope Chris is continuing to heal.

Today I did STS 2 Giant Sets Total Body, 58 minutes, heart rate 9/125 134 calories. I finished with CDorner 20 minute relaxing neck stretch, 18 minutes, 25 calories. Total time 76 minutes, 159 calories. I lowered weights for some of it. I was hoping someone would call to set up the appointment today, but no call. That means next week hopefully. The doctor did say he would be out of town that week though so his staff may be out.

So, I just did the STS 2 Body Parts Biceps and Triceps workout I put together. Certainly served it's purpose and I like the variety of changing back and forth between muscle groups, but...if I ever do it again, I'll go in and make adjustments to the rest periods. After each group of exercises I used the rest period that naturally followed, however, that means that during the rest period they are setting up for the next exercise which isn't the one I'll be doing. It would be a pain to swap them out, so I'll only do it if I ever decide to do it again. I'm down to two more weeks of the parts workouts, so I need to start working on the STS 2/Xtrain rotation which is what I'm going to do next. I think it's 8 weeks if I remember right. I'll use the weight workouts in the rotation but choose my own cardio/core. Weather cannot figure out what it wants to do. The last day it has just randomly started raining at times for 1-5 minutes. It's been cloudy, sunny, partly sunny, sunny with rain, cloudy with rain it's all over the place.

Diane Sue great job with STS 2 Giant Sets Total Body and the neck stretch. Hopefully you can get the appointment arranged soon.

Valerie if you wanted to use the computer you could look into bluetooth keyboard options. I think with bluetooth you'd be able to find a wide variety of styles that would work better for you. It's always cracked me up that my first job with the State was as a typist right out of high school, but DH types WAY faster than I ever did. Of course, I put it down in part to the fact that I have small hands with short fingers. I always thought it was good that I never aspired to play piano as I have no reach.

cathy I will look at that if its an issue. I have several hand problems, arthritis & pinkie fingers that dont function normally. dupuytren's if you are familiar where I develop cords that shorten and contract my fingers. well controlled so far with non medical measures. pinkies used to work, first the left didn't, better now and then the right developed a contracture. meantime I developed a typing style faster than hunt/peck but not true touch typing. I used to be a decent touch typist. when I was in high school, girls were assumed job future as secretaries, so we all learned to type. very hard to use small flat keyboards with keys right next to each other. I will try his set up but I cant type on a ipad or laptop due to positioning.

didnt do much yesterday, some therapy later and mild garden work. not sure Im going to wait for another surgical opinion. everything gets spaced out by 2-3 weeks. see someone, they order something, followup is in 2-3 weeks, and then the surgery schedule is out by probably 6-8 weeks. stretching this out longer and longer. Im tired of having to sit out too many things. I hurt my left arm about 2 weeks ago doing nothing at all, lifted my bike tire sideways 2 inches. something got pulled. its settling down so probably start doing upper body things again. Sigh. gets exhausting just figuring out all the equipment failures.

Today is a rest day. I had a meeting this morning and then I did a few things with my daughter. This is her last day here.

Diane Sue, nice job with Giant Sets Total Body and CDorner relaxing neck stretch.

Cath, nice job Body Parts Biceps and Triceps.

Hello to Valerie and Judy.

Today I did CDorner Fat Blasting Rock Your Cardio Hight or Low Impact, 47 minutes, heart rate 135/151, 244 calories, 4,730 steps. I also did STS 2 Mobility 1 18 minutes, 38 calories. Total time 65 minutes, 282 calories.

Cathy, nice job on STS 2.0 Biceps and Triceps. I liked that about doing two of the workouts together. I did better with the weights I was lifting having a break between sets on each body part. It rained a lot with all of the thunder and lightning here last night.

Valerie, I know it is tough trying to work around issues. These medical things sure get drawn out.

Carolyn, have a nice rest day with your daughter.

Friday I did a 30 minute Peloton ride and a 20 minute Peloton total body strength workout. I went back to work today for a 6 hour shift.

I’ve tentatively decided to do the STS 2.0 12 week rotation starting Oct. 1. This gives me time to plan my schedule and get mentally prepared. I think I will have more success with a strength focused rotation in the fall-winter.

Chris is continuing to recover. It’s been 2 weeks now and he is driving and doing most things. Hopefully he will be feeling even better after a couple more weeks.

Valerie-That’s great that you got your mammogram results back so quickly! I’ve had years when I got the results back the same day and that’s such a relief. I agree about Apple keyboards. They tend to be small and not as easy to use.

Diane Sue-Great job STS 2 Giant Sets Total Body, CDorner Fat Blasting Rock Your Cardio High or Low Impact and STS 2 Mobility 1. I hope you can get your follow up appointment soon.

Cathy-Great job with your STS 2 Body Parts Biceps and Triceps workout. The STS 2-XTrain rotation looks really good.

Carolyn-Great job with XTrain Cardio Leg Blast, rounds 1-6. I hope you had a nice rest day and enjoyed your time with your daughter.
