Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 7/29

We are driving back today. Short trip. Too hot for us to hike. The one we did was nice but it is warmer now. By noon it is HOT and not ok for me. For either of us really. Riding is better because uphill is earlier when cool and downhill. Ok as it is heating up. The sun is more intense at higher altitude. deb best to wait for a docs opinion I’d avoid anything that hurts.

I didn’t get in a workout this morning before I had to leave for my meeting. I didn’t feel like getting up earlier today. Our weather makes me want to stay in bed longer. We have had days of rain and dreary skies and it is continuing all week.

Lori, you have a nice variety of workouts going. I hate the leg drills in Kick Max which is one reason that I often choose another kickboxing workout. That’s a wonderful thing that you are doing for your son’s girlfriend. She will get great benefit from working out with you.

Deb, I’m glad that you have an appointment to see a doctor for your hip. It’s good to know what you are dealing with.

Diane Sue, great job with Live Low Impact HiiT and Birthday Bash. You are really getting a lot of value from your subscription.

Judy, I love the Ultimate Yogi Yin Yoga. I hope to do that one soon.

Hello to Valerie.

Carolyn, I made my appointment for my next arthritis appointment and made it late morning next time. I don't like coming back and doing a workout which is what I did the last two times. I almost didn't do anything Monday. When I pay for the streaming, I intend to get my money's worth out of it :)

Good morning,

No workout yesterday. I did go to agility class, but took it really easy. I have my appointment this morning for x-rays etc. Wish me luck. The new dryer came, but they couldn't get it into the basement. :( They took it back and I had to go back to the store and order a different one. That one comes tomorrow. Hopefully it will fit through the hallway into the basement.

Anyone having a hard time signing into MFP this morning?

Judy, good job on the MM workouts. I had a good rotation that included those with cardio etc. I need to look at that one again once this hip thing is resolved. Thanks for the info on the hyaluronic stuff. I saw they have it on Amazon too. I may try it. I wish I had known about it before I spent $$ on Osteo Bi-Flex.

Diane Sue, you are certainly getting your money's worth out of the streaming. That's great! I have straight hyaluronic acid serum that I used on my face before moisturizer. The woman who does my facials said it really makes a difference.

Valerie, too bad you have to cut your trip short. Have a safe drive back.

Carolyn, I can understand why you would want to skip your workout. I do wish we would have some rain. It is so dry here, and its hard to keep the flowers and shrubs watered enough.

Hi to Lori,

Take care,

Deb, I hope your appointment this morning goes well. That is too bad the dryer didnt fit in the basement. I bet it was kind of a let down. I have noticed my dyers timer has been a bit off. Yesterday my grandson was over doing laundry and it said an hour and 7 minutes after ot had been running near an hour ( he put a lot of clothes in) I opened the door and moved the clothes around and then it said 17 minutes. I keep noticing it doing that. It is pretty old and I am hoping it holds out longer.

Good Morning,
Today I did Ramped Up Upper Body for 58 minutes and 289 calories burned. My average heart rate was 116 and maximum heart rate was 157.

Deb, that’s very disappointing that the new dryer didn’t fit. I’ve been wondering if we will have a similar problem when we get a new refrigerator. Last year we changed our double entry doors to a single door which I love. I hope it doesn’t cause a problem later.

Diane Sue, having a later morning appointment is helpful. Usually I don’t mind getting up earlier, but some days it just doesn’t work. If I don’t get to bed early enough the night before I’m not good for much the next morning.

Valerie, I hope you had a good trip home.

Hi to Lori and Judy.

Today has been a bit of a surprise and is going to be pretty active. I have my grandson here as usual on Thursdays and he is running a low grade fever and bought medicine in for congestion and tylenol. His mother thinks he was fighting off something and swimming and sucking in a lot of water set it off. Then my other daughter called and I am watching her two, the 4 and 10 year olds. I will have them for dinner. I haven't had them over for awhile so it will be nice. I got 5 hrs if sleep last night and hope I can keep my energy up.
Workout was Cathe Live Low Impact Cardio Leg Blast + Upper Body, 53 minutes, 2,031 steps, met 4.8, heart rate average 107, max 150. I then did Coffey Fit Raw Perfect 10, non weighted "wake up" workout, 25 minutes, 110 calories, heart rate average 114, max 160, met 4.0, 978 steps. I liked both of these workout.
I have been wanting to check out the Perfect 10 and sometime, the floor workout from Coffey Fit Raw. Perfect 10 was pretty good. Nice to finish off with or to just do or warm up. Not super easy, as it includes various types of push ups including a pike push up for shoulders, squat thrusts, side lying push ups, lunge, squat variations, and finishes off with some bicycles and crunch hip curl done twice for abs.

Carolyn, I know what you mean about getting through doors. We have had to take doors and storm doors off to fit things through that were large. It seems most of the time when I have something scheduled in the mornings I have a short night sleep. I guess maybe it is just the anticipation.

Good morning everyone. we had a decent but long day yesterday. 12 hours total. there have been issues with brush fires along highways. how dumb is it to toss a lighted cigarette butt out the window when its 100 degrees & everything is dry as a cracker? not too much active road work yesterday either so we were lucky. long day, no issues.
ETA there was a brush fire today, closing the interstate both directions close to the time we went thru yesterday. I have a twitter account so I get tweets about traffic issues to my phone. I swore Id never use twitter... but the state patrol and county road repair agencies use it. it's the best way to get current, useful info. it shows up immediately as an alert rather than waiting for hours to show up on the web site, when it's not timely anymore. If you need current road information, it is worth taking a look at if it is used by your local agencies. I get some fluff too, but so far it is WAY worth it.

Deb hope all goes well with the doctor today and you have a treatment plan that gets things under control for you. bummer on the dryer. was it a pedestal one? they are gigantic. I got standard LG brand one for our house last spring. very happy with it. (the washer/dryer in older house are ancient but keep on working) My first experience with LG & would buy again. I bought a simple washer/dryer combo since we are quite far out. service would be costly. the fewer bells and whistles the better. we skipped thru-the-door ice on the frig since the fail so regularly. just had the door replaced on our 1 yo frig here because ice maker failed. it was a problem with the wiring inside the door being pinched off. they replaced the freezer door but it took several months to get it.
Need to hit PO, grocery and a few other stops to get things back to normal. will get in a workout later if possible.

I am different and would prefer the appt early, and do workout later.

Valerie, I wish they would outlaw smoking. There is no good reason for it any way you look at it. Fires, health, health of others and it stinks. When I workout later i end up taking two showers in a day. I would rather just time it a bit later in the morning or skip it.

Good morning,

The X-Rays showed nothing structurally wrong with my hip or back. No deterioration, or any damage. That was good news. I am set up for physical therapy when we get back from our trip. I did not ask him what, if anything I could do in the meantime. I think I just wanted to get out of there. I could kick myself for that.

Still having problems with MFP. I can sign in, but the newsfeed will not load. This is on my desktop. It works on the app on my phone. I think they are trying to get people to only use the app.

Diane Sue, kudos to you for having 3 grandchildren at a time! That is a workout in itself. LOL. I think its time you look at a new dryer. :). I also prefer early appoints, but when working out, maybe mid morning.

Carolyn, great workout! I think your doorway will be okay for any future dryer deliveries. They come as narrow as 27 inches, (which is the new one I picked out) and still is a high capacity. Most doorways now a days are 36 inches. It wasn't actually our doorway, but the place in the back hall where you turn to go into the basement.

Valerie, I still can't believe with all the fires out west, that people actually toss cigarettes out windows or on the ground. Idiots! No, not a pedestal dryer, just a regular one. I like it because it as a door that pulls down, instead of opening to the right or left.

Hi to Judy & Lori

Take care,

Hi Everyone,

Wednesday I did Cathe Live-High Step Legs and Core (6/8/17) then I finished with ICE Muscle Meltdown Chest. Yesterday I went for a 3 mile walk with a neighbor and last night I did a Jessica Smith 30 minute stretch from her YouTube channel. This morning I did the Balanced Core Premix from Core Max. That one uses both the medicine ball and the stability ball. It was challenging. I actually did better than I thought I would.

Deb-that is good news about your x-rays. I don't like it when doctors act like they are in a hurry and just want to get you out of their office. Could you call him and ask about what you could do in the mean time? I agree about MFP wanting people to only use the app. I have been having all kinds of issues with the desktop version. I've tried it with 3 different browsers and they all have the same issues.

Diane Sue-I also prefer to get my workout done first thing in the morning. I try to schedule most of my appointments for late morning/early afternoon so I can workout first. I agree about wishing that smoking was against the law. There really isn't anything good about it.

Carolyn-Great job with Ramped Up Upper Body! That is one of my favorite upper body workouts.

Valerie-I'm glad you made it home ok. It's ridiculous that people will throw lit cigarette butts out of windows in those dry conditions, or really any conditions for that matter.

Hi to Lori!

Judy

Good morning ladies...wednesday was a great SB upper workout that I have not done before. I loved it. I followed up with a BBS dance. No workout yesterday morning. I did not sleep well at all. Madeline has taken a turn for the worse. She had a massive seisure on Wednesday and has been unresponsive since. This is it. My heart is breaking. I am home today. Needed to absorb all this. We are fortunate we have had her 2 years longer than what we were originally told. Still is hard to say goodbye. Not sure what the workout will be...perhaps just a walk with GiGi.

Deb...great no damage. PT will be good and then it will be all behind you. Wow what a fiasco with the dryer. Such a pain!

Valerie...such a long drive. I get so lethargic when I am in a car for a long length of time. Shame with those fires. Never understood people throwing their buts out the window. Stupid.

Diane Sue...you had your hands full with grandchildren! Amazing with the little sleep you did an amazing workout. So far I like what I see with BBOD. I think the Double Time will be perfect to get her motivated. I am then going to suggest we do 80 Day Obsession. I like the looks of it. Not Advanced so it won’t scare her away and demotivate. But a good solid intermediate level that you can make harder if you wanted to. So this will be good for both of us.

Carolyn...I could sleep all day in rainy overcast weather. :)

Judy...TimTim is the most loving cat I have ever had. I would have missed her terribly if my son took her with him. He knows she is in good hands. I need to evaluate my streaming sites. I will be removing BBS when it expires and Kelly at the end of the summer. Her raw workouts are great and may revisit them later on. Bellicon is really cheap and I like their workouts. The most expensive site is Lekfit at $15 a month. I not ready to give her up anytime soon!

Have a great day all.

Deb, that is great news that nothing is structurally wrong. I do the same thing with just wanting to get out of the doctor office. They ask if I have any questions and I tell them no so I can leave. Although most of the time I have done my research before going in and have some idea. Maybe you can just research some physical therapy techniques to try on your own. Check out Egoscue method. I really did find the yoga tune up balls and stuff from my yoga tune up dvds helpful. Particularly the Knee hab dvd , as she works from the glute area down. That is when I started improving the most. Bodies out of align can yhrow something like that off.

I doubt we will be getting a dryer soon. Our Range Rover is in the shop again. Itwas in last month and cost another 600 for a hose that bad deteriated somewher hard to get to. Now it started running sluggishly (a safety feature when something is wrong) and was soinding like buzzing or vibrating this last week. It seems after the transmision and a ir shocks, that we would be done with it. My day yesterday was non stop. My daughter came over for dinner and did a webinar for daycare licensing on my laptop as we couldnt keep the internet working on hers. I am glad it worked for her though dince she had paid for it twice.

Judy, my grandmother died from lung cancer from second hand smoke. My grandfather quit in his later years. I grew up with it and sticking my face in the wind wing of the car. I realize now that it was one of the things that had my eyes watering and me coughing as a child and I was never one to complain about discomforts. It happens now if someone is around smoking. I hold my breathe when I walk by. The problem is when it makes money they allow it.

Lori, I guess you were posting at the same time. I know you are hurting for Madeline. A walk with Gigi seems like it would be a good idea. Although at times like that I like some agressive heavy bag to punch out my sadness. That sounds like agood workout choice. I was thinking that BB had a lot of tough workouts which could leed to some lack of motivation.

Lori, I am so sorry to hear about Madeline. It is always so hard to say goodbye. Walking with GiGi sounds very nice. (hugs)

Deb, I checked My Fitness Pal on my computer and it works fine. I usually use my tablet for logging MFP though. I wonder why yours is not working?

Lori, Lekfit is pricey. I am interested in Les Mills streaming which is not just pump and combat and it is 12.99 for US customers.

Good Morning Ladies,
Today I did KCM Cardio Quick Fix Workout One. That was 25 minutes and 188 calories burned. My average heart rate was 132 and maximum heart rate was 164. After that I did Element Yoga with Alanna Zabel, the Flexibility Flow, for an additional 23 minutes and 36 calories.

Deb, that’s wonderful news that you have no injuries to the hip area. Physical therapy should be helpful with positioning and movement corrections. When is your trip?

Judy, nice work with Live High Step Legs and Core and Muscle Meltdowns. I didn’t realize that Core Max has premixes.

Lori, I’m sorry that the news is not good with Madeline. A walk with Gigi sounds like a wonderful idea.

Diane Sue, I’m amazed that you managed a workout with so many grandchildren around. It must be very frustrating to have more problems with your Range Rover.

Hello to Valerie. Have a great day everyone.

Lori so sorry to hear about madeleine. cancer is relentless. good you got to go back to see her not long ago, and that she got more time than expected.

Smoking is surely “discouraged”in public places. remember smoking on planes, restaurants? was such a joke. I was traveling for work a lot then, and it was an ongoing problem. vehicles don’t really have an ashtray anymore. Maybe part of the problem?? still so careless to toss out the window! Funny to watch old movies and news clips and see people smoking everywhere. wonderful to restrict smoking as much as we have in public places. sad to see so many people smoking in their cars. areas along interstates have multiple brush fires a year , shutting down the highway and making long detours. there are other causes, but discarded cig butts sure are a main cause.

Deb a relief it is not a bony structural problem. still hurts though. PT should be able to guide you specifically on exercises you can do and what not to do. My PT guy was very knowledgeable about what to do or not do. maybe that will be enough. Too bad about the narrow hallway. hard enough buying new appliances without that factor.
