Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 7/11

Today I did CDorner No repeat Leg workout w/ dumbbells and bands ( not exactly no repeat , but with some changes) I think I have done this one before and she put it up as a previously filmed. She was cold and wearing a jacket at the start. I remember doing all of the moves 62 minutes, 103/138 heart rate, 184 calories, 728 steps. I also did her full body mobility stretch and release routine for flexibility that she filmed Wednesday. 35 minutes, heart rate 82/109, 58 calories, 197 steps. I also foam rolled my upper back and traps area and did some of my PT exercises for rotator cuff with a 3# db 2 sets 20 reps. Not much sleep again. I am wondering if it has something to do with the steroid injection. We ran some errands and had lunch and I am trying to get pecans chopped for a pecan pound cake and cheese and stuff grated for enchiladas that I will put together for Sunday's birthday dinner for my daughter.

Valerie, the arthritis doctor wanted to do another mri since it has been 2 years, but I told him I would like to try the steroid injection and spend more time on the pt moves. I looked up a few more specific to the rotator cuff. That last mri for my neck and shoulder were so painful. They keep you in some device for way to long immobile to get the pictures and they tried to do both the same day. It would not be both again. He just thought we should see if something else is going on. I am in this quandry on doctors as we have moved so far away and then my primary is gone as of this month to do something else. I have been researching doctors closer. There is one recommended in my office by the primary and she apparently works several clinics, two of which are closer. The doctors closest use a different hospital network and I would rather keep the one I have. My daughter does not know doctors this way to offer help. I hate when they leave or retire.
That would be frustrating doing the hiking and getting lower stats for all of the work you did.
Repairs on vehicles are ridiculous. That range rover we had cost us thousands of dollars. I think we almost paid double for it and were still having problems when we made the decision to buy a new vehicle.

Judy, nice work with the PHA 3 live and the peloton workout. The muscle meltdowns are usually good choices.

Cathy, I find that stores are generally a little low on some items on Mondays, but they are usually a lot quieter. I always try to hit the store in the mornings before everyone decides to get out to the store. Afternoons are always worse. I went through a lot of blenders when I used to make my own nut butter when my children were growing up. I think that they make some better blenders now though. I have been trying to lighten up my purse that I carry so much stuff in and not keep it on my shoulder for long periods. I have been doing some foam roller stuff with CDorner on youtube for my traps/upper back which helps a lot. She has some good stuff and spends time on neck and shoulder areas.

also her neck and shoulders stretch is great. In my little car I avoid highways and trucks. Even off the highways they throw water all over you. Besides I cannot see much with a big truck in front of me. We have a lot in our area because we are between a turnpike and a major freeway and they are busy at the truck stops I have got caught between a couple of them a few times and really try to avoid.

There appears to be plenty of cars for sale around here. My grandson just bought a cheap used car as his other one quit on him and he needed a way to get to work. He keeps buying low cost cars to get by that run.

Carolyn, one time I was at the arthritis center wanting to use the restroom and there was some woman that went in there and she took forever and you could here her whole conversation on her cell phone. It was quite annoying. As much as that place had, it looks like they could have done better with the restrooms. I am sure the staff has some in the back somewhere. Good job with RWH. I pulled out Jessica Smith walk strong 3 and was thinking when I was doing PT before I used her balance workouts quite a lot.

one of the causes of me l;ifting my shoulder up was carrying a heavy purse on that shoulder for decades. I am right handed so my dominant side is the one to lift and carry things. I apparently got to the point where I lifted it out of alignment.... much of the time, especially when doing workouts. when I initiated a move, my right shoulder went up first and eventually it caused problems. learning to undo that "automatic response" helped a lot. I don't carry a shoulder bag at all anymore. I have two waist bags with a hip belt. they are not large but hold wallets, phone, keys so I can be hands free, plus they don't weigh down a shoulder. you can strap them on in front, back, or side. they were inexpensive and helped. I cant carry what I need in a pocket!
your network probably has at least one orthopedic group. they tend to form groups to share call, and often each doctor in the group will have a "specialty" body part, like one person focuses on knees, one hips, one the shoulders, one feet and ankles. mri data would be available to every specialty especially if you stay in network. its usually easy to exchange information. orthopedics people do a lot of surgery, but thats not all they do. hips and shoulders and knees are pretty common body parts to wear out as we get older. thinking... orthopedics focus more on "mechanical" issues and it would be another opinion ...new eyes... about why you are having so much discomfort.

Yesterday I did the step combos from IMAX3. My trap felt totally fine. Apparently everything I threw at it on Thursday worked to get that big knot out. Then last night I couldn't fall asleep and laid their reading. I KNOW I should just get up and sit somewhere to read because it wreaks major havoc with my lower back. So today I just spent time stretching an hopefully by tomorrow it'll be okay. I so need to stop sabotaging myself.

Valerie I'm going to try and look for something when I shop Monday. I know I need something that straps around the waist, but I'm so short it's almost impossible to find something that fits me properly. I did some checking and yeah most of the dealerships around here are really low on new inventory. The Toyota dealership we go to actually has 90 new vehicles, but it breaks down to only a handful of each model. Was kind of surprised they were that low given that we in Michigan we have a LOT of plants. I haven't noticed the GM plant seeming in the lot waiting for transport that I pass going to and from Lansing, but I also probably am not paying that much attention. Vehicle repairs are always hard. Not the thing you want to have to spend money on.

I have long been anti purse. LOL I tend to stash them somewhere and these days, I either stick things in my pockets since I bought yoga pants/shorts with pockets or use my fanny pack if I have to carry more than my phone, glasses and a couple cards.

Carolyn the highway closest to us isn't insane with truck traffic, but I sometimes have to drive I-94 the Detroit to Chicago route and it can be so bad. If I go to my parents, it is the only way to get there that wouldn't add an extra 30-60 minutes at least, and it is insane at times and only more than two lanes for a few miles around K'zoo and the rest is two lanes. Though I'll take that any day over I-75 going into Cincinnati. Avoid driving near Detroit, and not sure you could pay me enough to go through Chicago.

I didn’t work out this morning although I had planned to do cardio. My car was ready so I went over to pick it up and return the loaner vehicle. I’m $3000 poorer, but everything works fine now. I was able to go to the farmers market and Sprouts after that. I was happy to have my own car since the market has small parking spaces and it gets very busy quickly. People who live close by come for the socializing as much as shopping. They have several food trucks and other types of vendors.

Diane Sue, nice work with the CDorner No Repeat Leg workout. I also saw an orthopedist with my shoulder injury. Another opinion might be helpful to you.

Cathy, great job with IMAX 3. I hope t your low back feels better after stretching.

Hello to Valerie and Judy.

I just read that toyota is not as short on vehicles as some other companies. we were looking at Ford and they are in shorter supply than others , something about a fire at an important facility in Japan. we learned the hard way that toyota does not make a big enough truck to handle a truck camper. the Tundra is big but not enough to carry a truck camper. A truck camper is heavy and weight sits in the truck bed so it is ether GM, Ford or Dodge. we checked for trucks in Bozeman. nothing was available. we want to stick with Ford. shortages seem mostly related to the overall computer chip shortage. I didn't realize so many chips end up in cars. every feature seems to have a chip related to it.

cathy... fanny pack!. I could not think of that. I use one as basically a purse. I like to have hands free if I can. I have a small one and a bigger one but that helped me move away from a purse. chicago traffic was horrid 40 years ago. hate to think of it now.

carolyn that is a significant bill for air conditioning. hope ours is less.

we are so sad to read about all the fires everywhere. places I know very well and have hiked and skied are on fire right now. it is only mid july, scary to think about months more of this and maybe worse.

Valerie, I’ve wondered about how the fires might affect you. It’s such a sad situation, as are the floods in Europe. Basically the air conditioner was replaced. The part is what makes it work. Definitely a significant bill.

carolyn we have friends who live right by the fires. DH and I spent our honeymoon there, and vacationed e almost every year in the area. I know every road because we have driven up them and skied up them many many times. a fire blew up in a new spot mid day yesterday, very close to the town of winthrop. the ongoing fires are a few miles away. everything is so dry! all the rain Europe got is sad, its way too much or not enough. no middle ground these days.

bummer on the AC bill . gotta have it though, can't survive without air in a vehicle these days.
