Good Morning Everyone,

We've been working on projects this weekend. Chris wants to get started on remodeling the bathrooms so we went to Lowes yesterday to get some ideas. Also trying to choose a new flooring to replace the pergo.
I have a few more days to go on my rest week. I've been doing Yin Yoga and stretching. I can tell that I really needed a break. I feel so much better now. I'm even sleeping a little better.

We're getting an early start today so I will post again later today.

Deb-Good luck today!

Lori-I love the new avatar!

Hi to Diane Sue, Carolyn & Valerie!

Judy

Deb good luck on the rest of the events .

Judy make sure you look at "luxury vinyl". we have been very pleased with it and it works in bathrooms. we used it in both house. some of the choices really look like stone but aren't. reasonable cost, none of the drawbacks of real stone. cold, heavy and expensive. we did some installs ourselves, some done by pro installers. I think we used Shaw brand. sorry, we have done so many things the last few years I will have to check on the brand but I think that is the brand. It is glued down square by square. if there is an accident, squares can be replaced individually. a little tricky to do but definitely possible. You can do grouted or non grouted, square placement or "on the diamond" depending on what you like and size of room. it came in large squares or rectangles. there were almost too many choices. Laminate is not recommended for use in bathrooms.

sounds like your rest week was a good investment and is paying off.

Good morning ladies,

I am going to take a rest day today. After yesterday’s 200 workout we removed all the stone from our backyard fire pit I made a few years back. We used it for a couple years then I started seeing more and more coyotes in the area so I did not like sitting out back. We moved all the stone to go around one side of the outside patio. It was a ton of work! I found this old water pump...you know the antique with a handle you pump up and down. It had been in my shed for years. Pulled it out and I decided to use it to make a little water fountain in the corner of the patio. I ordered the pump and hose yesterday and will do this next weekend. My wooded wall Flag is being delivered tomorrow. Once I have these two things up I will post pictures. My patio is nice and cozy which is what we want. We thought about buying new furniture but we are comfortable with what is there for now so no need to spend the money just yet. So many other things needed!

Deb...wishing you luck for today!!!!

Judy...we need a bathroom remodel. We have been trying to psych ourselves up for it. That is awesome feeling like you do. I am trying to take more rest days.

Valerie...that is so sad about Old Faithful...I still picture it how it looked in 1984. Such a shame. I have only been to RockSprings that one time and we went all over. Beautiful country. I do not remember it being windy. He has since moved to Utah. Before he moved while visiting he took us to this huge dam. Pretty sure it was in Utah. That is all I remember about it.

Diane Sue...I read the Maze Runner trilogy. I have the movies but have not seen them yet. I am the same about Zombies! My son has tried to get me to watch The Walking Dead and nope. Not happening!

Enjoy the day all! Beautiful here in New England!!! Hi to Carolyn!

Hello Ladies.
This is a rest day for me. It has finally stopped raining and it’s a beautiful day. I plan to work outside a bit to take advantage of it. I am so proud of us for taking much needed rest days :).

I hope you all have a wonderful afternoon.

Today is a rest day. No family gathering as other things have come up for most of them. My grandson is here taking care of my front planter. I am going to have to take my husband's computer back to the technician. They guarantee their work so I am not too worried, but the screen periodically goes crazy with shaking and changing size and the curser/mouse won't work when it is like that. I videoed the screen this time with my phone since it did not do it while the technician was looking at it with me. He wondered if there was a radio frequency causing it. I cannot think of anything that would suddenly be doing that though. So, I am already going to start the week with errands.

Deb, good luck with the trials today.

Judy, those projects can be so rewarding when they are done. We still need to do the floors and bath upstairs. The upstairs bath adjoining the workout room is my bath and it still has the old small white ceramic tile on the floors and cream colored in the tub/shower and counter. I hate dealing with all of the grout and there are cracks in some of the tiles. It is a someday project if we ever get done repairing the broken things :) We put the 24 inch ceramic tile in our two downstairs baths and kitchen. The Pergo is on the rest of the downstairs floor. I have cut back a lot on my workouts and doing lots of therapy/stretching. I wish I could say I feel a lot better. Gertie came into our room this morning and told my husband to wake me up so she could go out. I was so, not ready to go outside. She does not come in our room often, so when she does it is generally with some urgency. I don't know why, but she goes to my husband and waits for him to ask if she needs out and she looks at me. I think it is because he is so animated about it with her and will tell me Gertie says she needs out. Then I get the task :) Sleep has went downhill this week and daily headaches.

Lori, your project outside sounds really nice, also like a lot of work. Can't wait to see pictures.

Carolyn, I chose to mow our back yard and sweep yesterday because there was a nice breeze and it was shaded in back at the time. Enjoy your rest day.

Lori Old faithful still looks nice as do all the other thermal features, but there are a lot more people visiting now than there used to be. a lot of international travelers. It used to be possible to go to well known things in national parks, and if you went early in the am or off season things would be deserted. in my experience, it isn't true anymore. you can still reduce population by walking off on a trail somewhere, but things you can drive to and that are "famous" usually have crowds. you can look at the web cams remotely and see.
I am not OK with big crowds of people, especially because I saw things before this was "standard". I think it's tru of most well known destinations worldwide. tourism has ruined a lot of famous places. they are being loved to death.
the best we did in recent years was after the government shut down a few years ago. we had a trip planned here and when things reopened briefly after the shutdown, there were very few people around. it was lovely! also, a lot more people travel in motor homes, big campers, or 5th wheels, so campgrounds feel a lot more "full" than they used to back when people camped in mostly small campers and tents. we had a VW bus.

we mt biked this morning right from our door. our driveway is the steepest hill but it's short. we can ride a few miles past some lakes. the biggest lake draws most traffic, boaters, then quiet after that. rough gravel road most of the way, then some single track. lots of flowers, birds, and pretty windy, head wind of course. we were gone for 2 hours and 40 min and rode most of the time.

We found out recently that the microwave oven interferes with our TV reception. I didn't think that happened anymore, but at our WA house it does. it's not an old micro either and not close to the TV, but when it goes on, it scrambles the TV picture. we tested it several times . a big surprise to us.

We did not have the option of using ceramic or porcelain tile because the floor has to be built to withstand the weight and not "flex", which will crack tiles and grout. the luxury vinyl was a good choice for us. we had ceramic tile put on the shower walls and tub in both houses, but not the floor. I was surprised to see that 4 inch tile is "history" and all tile is 12" and 16" . makes for less grout

Valerie, I don't like big crowds either. The idea behind going out to enjoy the beauty of nature, is not to see loads of tourists hanging around. When we had to have a plumber fix a hole in a pipe under our shower we had to replace the side wall under the tub which is next to a wall where the shower is. Since we had a small surface to replace between the wall and the tub, my husband put up wall board and my son tiled it with those tiny decorative tile in multi colors of tans and browns. We could not find replacement tiles matching what was on the counters etc. and it ended up being rather pretty. I am surprised that the microwave causes interference. My microwave is not new, and a stove hood as well. It is supposed to be convection microwave combo, but I have never been able to get the convection to work. Now it has a problem where the fan runs when you open the door. It is not an easy repair. I read up on it and there are several latch sensors that require dismantling a lot of the front of it to get to.

Valerie-Thanks for the tip. We brought home some sample of luxury vinyl flooring. I think we are going with a darker one, something like this:

https://www.homedepot.com/p/LifePro...-Flooring-21-45-sq-ft-case-I111311L/300461622

or this:

https://www.homedepot.com/p/LifePro...-Flooring-18-73-sq-ft-case-I179351L/300876920

We aren't sure what we will do for the bathroom flooring yet, but the plank flooring will be great for the rest of the condo. We are going to get rid of the carpet in the bedrooms and put the plank flooring in there too.

Lori-Your patio sounds very nice!

Diane Sue-I'm sorry you haven't been sleeping well and that you are having more headaches :( Remodeling our main bath will be a pain. We will have to hire someone to do most of that. It's something that we have put off for a few years. We will be able to do the smaller half bath on our own.
You are right, it's very rewarding to finish a project.

Carolyn-I agree about being proud of us taking rest days. It's something I've struggled with for a long time, not wanting to take days off, and I'm finally seeing the benefit of doing so. I'm planning on doing an active rest week every month or so.

Deb-I hope everything went well today.

Judy

Good morning,

Well, no qualifying scores this weekend. She did her best, we fixed a problem, then something else would go wrong the next time. I still was happy with how she performed. Onward to the next trial! :).

Carolyn, good job on the yoga/pilates workout. That DVD with the 7 practices sounds interesting. I will go look at it closer. I am both a beginner and a mid-life person. LOL.

Vaelrie, that great that your cousins got to see some of the wildlife that you have there. Good that your arm is better. and that you are still being careful. I had a tendon in my upper arm/shoulder that slipped but it had to actually be put back, the pain was so bad. I thought it was a disclocation, but the orthopedic dr said it was a loose tendon. It has not happened in years, once I started working with weights, the muscle must hold it in better.

Diane Sue, if Kylee was down in my workout area when I was doing a workout, she would not bother me, but would be getting into anything she could investigate. I would have to keep stopping to get her out of stuff she shouldn;t be in. Our kitchen microwave interferes with our land line if it is on and I am on the kitchen phone. I never heard of a computer being affected, but you never know. You would think it would have happened a long time ago though. I hope you sleep better this week. I am stopping the melatonin....it really did not do much, if anything.

Lori, yes, those crab walks are killer on the shoulders. I actually don't think they are safe, even for people without any shoulder problems. I just did standing knee lifts at a fast pace. I don't blame you for not wanting to sit outside when there may be coyotes out there. Moving all that was definitely a workout in itself!

Judy, nice projects! Where is the pergo that you are looking to replace? That vinyl flooring that Valerie mentioned is what my brother used in his half-bath. It actually looks like stone. I wish I would have used that instead of ceramic.

Take care

Deb-The pergo is in our living room and kitchen/dining area.. We will look at the vinyl flooring tiles for the bathroom. That sounds like a good option.

Today I did Hard Strikes from the X Train series. My time was 42 minutes and 297 calories burned. Average heart rate was 131 and maximum heart rate was 165. I skipped most of the conditioning exercises except for the core exercises. I am doing the June rotation substituting when I want something different. Today’s scheduled workout was MMA Boxing, which I don’t have.

Deb, the Jane Adams Yoga is the dvd that I got for my husband to try, but with 7 different practices there is something for me too. He has done two of them and didn’t seem frustrated or overwhelmed by them.

Judy, I like the luxury vinyl samples that look like hardwood. I want to use something similar when we replace our current kitchen flooring.

Valerie, I’m another person who hates large crowds. They make it very hard to enjoy the scenery or the event.

Diane Sue, I’m sure it’s hard for you to continue with easier workouts. I hope your hip continues to get better. I modify most cardio to low impact and I need to be careful with some stretches. I had errands this morning also. I was trying to find new workout shoes, but was not successful. I’m going to the computer to order a pair from Zappos now.

Lori, your patio sounds like it will be a wonderful space when you finish. I look forward to seeing the pictures.

Mt biking again this morning. the drive to the trail was difficult, very bad roads, and one spot was washed out. but we finally got there. DH got the bikes ready and took off uphill. I turned my bike over ( it was upside down to put front wheel on) and realized the front wheel was jammed and would not turn. I thought DH put the wheel on wrong so took it off, put it back on but it would not turn. by now he was gone. I could not ride the bike and the wheel was so jammed I could not even walk it anywhere. It dawned on me that he put his larger bike's wheel on my bike, and my smaller one on his. so I sat and wait for him to come back. I did not want to walk off and leave the bike just sitting there either. so he came back all irate because he'd gone up hill a ways and stormed around until he accepted he'd done a dumb thing. so we swapped wheels. his 29" wheels, mine 27.5. No wonder it didn't fit! it was a beautiful ride and area and we will go back when we have time. it was too warm today to go thru a burned out along the ridge top because the drive made us way later than expected. not many miles but rough miles. still, we rode about 2 hours. the trail at the end of the road was fantastic.
https://www.mannington.com/Residential/Laminate/Restoration-Collection/Sawmill-Hickory/22330 this is the floor we put in our house. it is beautiful and the builder commented on how nice it was to work with. it is a laminate and has a fair amount of color variation and a little texture to it. it turned out great! I didn't want something real smooth and shiny but was looking for a more rustic look "sawmill" look.
I need to look more for the luxury vinyl bathroom floor tile.

Today I did Kelly Coffey Build and Burn Kettlebell Kickbox fusion, 26 minutes, 163 calories, heart heart rate average 124, max 152, 1,753 steps. I then did Fit Tower Advanced Legs Glutes and core timesaver #1 legs and glutes only, 33 minutes, 127 calories, met 3.5. Using the barre setting on Map My Fitness it gave me 180 calories :0 . I also did Yoga Tune Up quick fix for the neck, 15 minutes, 25 calories. I had such a splitting headache and neck pain last night. Still feels like it wants to come back. Total time was 74 minutes, 315 calories. My husband and grandson did a great job on the shrubs, hedges, and planters yesterday. My morning glories are filling in.

Judy, those floor colors are pretty. Good for you considering a recovery week. I like an active recovery doing yoga and lighter work.

Deb, Sorry she didn't qualify, but I am sure it is fun just watching and enjoying her going through her routine. Gertie is pretty well behaved and really in tune with our moods? If she sees I am tired or sad, she will come and tuck her nose into my hand. If I say go, she moves away, but keeps an alert eye on me. Hard to explain, I guess. My husband keeps saying what a good dog she is. I think back to when we got her and felt like she may have to go, but just couldn't give up. Now she is the best dog we have ever had. I never worry about her getting into things. She knows what is hers. If I get her something new, I hand it to her repeatedly, so she knows it is hers and okay. No trash grazing, shoe and sock thieving. She leaves the children's toys alone when they are leave them all over. Play doh is a bit of a problem though. I think she thinks it is food crumbs dropped and goes in to get it unless I call name and say no. Maybe she will learn the difference in that one :) I have eaten a lot of bags of fresh cherries lately and some dried cherries and have not noticed any difference from the norm other than the one very unusual day that I slept really well. I think that was more from exhaustion.

Carolyn, I have the MMA workouts. I never got that good of a calorie burn doing them. One in particular I do not like much. I don't think it is the boxing one. It is one that has boxing, but has drills with tubing laid out that you jump over in an X pattern and that sort of thing. It is a totally dreaded thing to me. I think the Hard Strikes is much better for a choice. Maybe longer though. It is probably because I don't like drill type workouts. I don't like running back and forth across the room like some of them have you do either. It is probably just my personal dislike. I am hoping to gradually increase my workouts, but I am being careful. RIght now I hardly am noticing the hip. The trick is to not sit too long. Right now my problem areas have moved to my left knee and neck. The rolling and stretching has been really good. Yes, there are some yoga moves and stretches that can set things off. I was exceptionally careful with my neck today. I did not want to overdo the stretches and set off swelling and inflammation all over that causes pain. Last night I finally took some Advil and took an ice pack to bed. That helped me sleep and it was somewhat better this morning. Still enough soreness to know a little bit of the wrong thing could set it all off again. It is so odd that my shoulder blades are so sore. I did the kettlebell work with a 15# instead of my usual 20 or wearing weighted gloves with it. Also didn't do the overhead squat move with the kettlebell. I just did the squat. I probably am due for new athletic shoes. I love Zappos because it is so easy to try the shoes and if they don't fit right it is easy to return. I got my last pair of Cross Fit Reebok at Amazon though.

Valerie, it is amazing what they can do with vinyl these days. I like the stone look and I like the wood look. That is great that your ride was beautiful once you got the tire situation fixed.

I can't find exactly what we used on the bathroom floors. it is "luxury vinyl" and in large squares, either Mannington or Armstrong. I'm sure other companies make this too. the surface has texture so it looks more like stone. not shiny and smooth, which always looks like sheet flooring. Again, one benefit is if there is a problem with a square or two, you can replace them and not tear up the entire floor.
I liked the "slate" look in light neutral colors. I learned my lesson with dusty rose in the early 1990's.
IMO it was worth a better quality product especially when it's for so little sq footage. the surface is softer than real stone , so warmer under foot, and if you drop something it is not necessarily "toast". a house needs to be built to not flex to keep large ceramic tiles from being too heavy or cracking. there are so many choices. we went to a builder supply showroom and picked things there, but looked online to get ideas first.

I wanted a floor with some variation to it, and went with very plain cabinets to balance it out. judy, dh and I did a wood look laminate floor ourselves and also have done the luxury vinyl tiles ourselves. we have done both grouted and non grouted floors. it depends on how much time and energy you want to expend.

Diane Sue, how do you like the Reebok CrossFit shoe? I am looking for something that works well for lateral movements like those in many of Cathe’s low impact HiiT workouts. I have worn mostly ASICS or Rykas for the last few years. Amazon owns Zappos, so ordering from either one works for me.

Good evening ladies,

This morning I did FS Push. Loved it as much as Pull. I followed up with a Bellicon Speed Drill workout. Total time was 51min / 307 cal.

Valerie...that is great you can hope on your bike from your home and go for a nice ride. Who would have thought that about the microwave! Yes most tiles now are the larger. Your ride today sounded terrible. :( men!! Your floor looks beautiful! A friend of mine grouted their vinyl floor and it looks amazing!

Judy...our time share had the entire place redone with a similar product. It looks really nice. You will be happy with it. Carpet is nice but it shows it’s age quick. We have wood floors throughout and tile in the bathroom. Was better for the dogs. we moved here 18 years ago and had the floors put in. Back then they did not have the quality of vinyl they have now.

Deb...she did her best and that is good. There is always next time. How often are the trials? For the crab walks I subbed in tricep dips. This was better for me. I am looking forward to doing this workout again. It really wiped me but yet I want to do it again. My abs are still feeling this workout.

Carolyn...good workout today. I was never a huge fan of MMA Boxing until I got my heavy bag. Then I liked it more. I would use the bag for most of it. Been ages since I have done this workout.

Diane Sue...yes I was the same way with the MMA workouts. One of them I did not care for but I can’t remember which! There is MMA Boxing which I eneded up liking then MMA Fusion and MMA Kickboxing. I love morning glories!! Very nice workout combination today.

Have a great evening all!

Today I did Yin Yoga from Ultimate Yogi. So far I've done it 3 times in the past week. I think I have it memorized now, lol!

Valerie-The Mannington laminate floor looks very nice. That's great that you and your dh did the flooring yourselves. I think we will try to do that too. It's a small condo so it shouldn't be too bad.

Lori-Our carpet is definitely showing it's age. It's been here since 2004, so 14 years old now. I will be happy to see it go.

Carolyn-Nice workout today!

Diane Sue-I'm sorry about your head and neck pain. How was the Yoga Tuneup for the neck? I haven't done that one yet. I've been meaning to do the shoulder one. Maybe I'll pull that one out for tomorrow.

Hi to Deb!

Judy

Carolyn and Diane Sue...

Here is another Barlates Bounce. When I liked it on Youtube she mentioned she has a longer total body one she filmed yesterday. I enjoyed her first one.

Valerie, we have done vinyl tile ourselves over the years. It depends on what all you have to do to the floor underneath to prep it as to how tough of a job it is. We have had to smooth and even out the underneath foundation area before because a house had really old tile that was glued down. Way more than I want to do ever again. My son is good at ceramic tile and has his own tile cutter. This last time we prepared for the flooring ourselves, but did not have my son do it even though he is good at Pergo and tile.

Carolyn, I have tried some of those brands. The ones I have liked the most and repurchased are the Adidas Performance Adipure 360.3 W training shoe. This one is good for lighter cardio and weight training as there is not a lot of padding in the feet. They are pretty flexible. Very comfortable. I have used them for every day shoes. I am on my second pair of CrossFit Nano 5.0 crosstrainer. They are like many shoes and have made changes through the different series of shoes. I have tried to stick with the one that I like :) They have plenty of toe room for me. I had first read reviews on this one on a Cross Fit site. I still see some on Amazon. I got the first pair at Dicks.

Lori, yes, I loved that heavy bag workout on the boxing workout. I think it was the Fusion one that I did not care fore. Those morning glories fill up the whole large planter in front and I usually have to control them climbing out all over. It is interesting that we pull them all out every year and they come back. I wish we could see the blooms all day long though. They stay longer if it is cloudy. They are very pretty when you see the blooms. We did have cannas in front that were pretty, but they kept spreading and falling over into the driveway. I don't know why the previous owners planted them out there where there was no wall to support them. I dug them up and tried planting them in back against the wall and they did not make it :( It was always colorful with the yellow cannas, pinkish red hibiscus, camelia, and the morning glories all blooming at once. Thanks for the rebounding video. I added it to my watch later list :)

Judy, that upper body yoga tune up is great. The neck one really helps. When I have the time I like to do that one and the shoulder one together. I am so glad that I got the tune up balls. It really does help release the pain. It hurt like crazy in some areas laying on them,, but when I was done it was so much better. The neck one does have her uses the tune up balls in the upper back shoulder area which feels good.
