Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 4/9

The hand movement issue is why fit bit devices don't work when riding bikes. I'm sure there must be something out there that would work but don't know what.

I ordinarily don't carry defense spray. I used to carry Halt when we ran because of loose dogs. I have a variety of waist packs or shoulder packs, and seldom carry a purse anymore. it's nice to have hands free for all kinds of reasons.

When riding, the biggest risk is a dog knocking you over, or grabbing a bite of your leg if he got close. you can't stop a bike that fast. most people who use the trail are aware of bicycles and have their dogs under control. this guy looked like any other dog walker but the dog had about 15 feet of leash to run out on.
We usually carry bear spray when hiking in the rockies, and also when mt biking there because of grizzlies. the cans are large and need to be carried on your belt to be accessible, or maybe bottle cage on a bike. cost $40-50 each. I don't carry it most other times but it would work just fine to defend against almost any kind of attack.

Valerie, I used to have a written out review a guy did that tested all different types of heart rate and calorie burn watches and other devices. Ones like Fit Bit go by algorithms This could be measured in different ways. I think Fit Bit is predominantly steps. Although I get calories for spin, floors which are not always my stairs, and heart rate affects the calorie burn a lot. It takes it all into consideration from what I see and tracks and adjusts accordingly. I am usually getting some extra calories by bed time for some of my steps over and above my exercise calories. I am starting to understand it a bit as I watch all of the charts and functions change. It would be nice if there was a way to try different methods out before you purchase a device.

I may make 11,000 steps today. I have been active most of the day. I purchased some Gaia Sleep and Relax tea to try tonight before bed. Hopefully I get more sleep. My bar clips have still not arrived. I may have to call again.

Good morning,

Getting ready for Easter...shopped a bit yesterday but cannot buy everything, only non-perishable items.

Judy, as for the rapist, his uncle basically gave the police the information that he was holding back for 25 years which led them to the guy. I can't believe that he could live with himself for that long, especially after more women were killed by the creep in the meantime.

Diane Sue, thanks for the info on the discounts on Dr Axe site. I did not get the $10 off code, but did get an email for 15% off. I want to get the Bone Broth Collagen. Have you ever tried that? I hope you don't have problems with any more of your DVD's and the new player.

Valerie, good job on the xTrain weight work! Yes, there are so many series to look into. One of my favorites was Justify. I know not for everyone, but I really enjoyed it and was sad to see it end.

Carolyn, I didn't realize that the FitBit would not count steps if your arms were not moving. Must be hard to move that shopping cart with one hand once it gets full. :).

Vet appointment for Keegan and getting the house ready for Sunday. I like to set up the dining room table, chairs etc in advance. I will even set the table...one less thing to do on Sunday,

Take care,

Good Morning,
Today I did Slow and Heavy Chest and Back. I'm sure I will feel it tomorrow!

Valerie, I have read similar information about the Fitbit. You can count the workout time for cycling, but not steps. Polar does has a watch for cycling, but it is pricey.

Diane Sue, I am very happy when I can get 11,000 steps during a day but it doesn't happen often. It requires extra effort for me to do it. I usually have just above 10,000.

Deb, I am a big believer in getting things done ahead of time for gatherings. It frees up your time to enjoy family and friends.

I am headed out to run some errands. Enjoy your day everyone.

Today I did Ice Rock'm Sock'm Kickbox mix with the blizzard blast, 62 minutes 455 calories, heart rate 131 avg/max 158. I then did Strong & Sweaty Ramped Up Upper timesaver mix Tris and bis--ticeps+triceps+biceps+biceps
close grip bench press 20's 8 reps
same but singles 20's 12 reps
dips 32 reps/ 16 reps
lying triceps extensions 12's x 8 reps; 12's
triceps standing overhead extensions 12'sx 12 reps
band kickbacks
repeat all
Biceps
hammer curls 15's x 12 reps
sweeping curls 15's x 12 reps
isolation curls 12 x
standing curls 15's x 12 reps
crazy 8's band
repeat all

Off to more prep work for painting and flooring. furniture moving etc.. I need to take down curtains and box valances over the blinds. So many things you don't think about.

Deb, I am using the bone broth collagen right now. Every time I go on their site I get some new discount at the top of the page. Yesterday after I had ordered I went back to look at something and it said I had activated a 20% off code. I don't know if the code I gave you off of my mailer would work for you if you want to get the bone broth collagen. The other code was for a basic discount for everything. I have a booklet they sent that I think has another code but it might only be 10% off. I started the purchase deal where you earn points. I figure if I keep buying I can get some free eventually. I figured out my new player. I put cardio slam in today since I had the same thing happen with the premix menu on Ice Kickbox. I need to push the options button on the remote and then top menu. Then the Cathe menu works. No problem so I am happy. I just need to learn how to use the player. I love that it is so small and has so many features.

Carolyn, I am usually lucky if I get 6000 steps in a day. All of this work and going to the store along with workouts has racked up some steps for me. I guess I need to quit sitting around reading, sewing, and spending time on the computer. I think it is good for the body to have some rest though.

We tried to watch Justify, watched several seasons of it. when a new season came out, maybe 4th? we could not remember what everyone was up to and dropped it. If there are continuous characters and plotline, it gets tough if it's been a few years! I like Timothy Oliphant and I liked the lady who was his girlfriend/wife but could not keep track of what all the evil guys were doing. I'd need to start that one over. we tried Suits recently and I neither of us could get into it. I'm not sure what hooks me in and what doesn't. we have several series on our 'to try" pile. wanted to try 'The Closer" the lead lady is impossible for me to understand in everything she appears in. need subtitles for her. Brenda something. I never can get the end of her sentences.

that's why I never bought a more expensive monitor. we ride a lot and most devices don't track the motion accurately. I already have 2 devices that track time and mileage. my weight watchers points only need total time and level of exertion, low medium or high.

I did most of the other parts of burn sets, back and chest. did not get to shoulders.

we thought we would leave on sunday for a trip to Montana but weather is not looking good so will delay a few days and maybe set out mid week. we want to look at our house and do some cycling. there is time in Yellowstone NP when roads are open to cycling before they open to vehicles. that is next week. but it sounds too cold, like 20's at night. icy roads would be too much excitement.

ETA are you needing to log in all the time suddenly? when I'm logged in my screen is a different color so very obvious. I am having to log in multiple times a day even though I keep telling it to remember my password. this is a change from just a short time ago. seems I had to log in everywhere the last few days. wondering if I'm doing something dumb?

Good morning,

No workout yesterday. I am getting ready for tomorrow...lots to do yet.

Carolyn, Slow & Heavy is a great series!

Diane Sue, I also got the email saying to "activate a 15% discount" and it didn't work. I emailed the company and they replied and told me to go ahead and pay for the item, give them my order number and they will credit me the 15%. But it seems like they only do it if you select the "auto-ship" option? I questioned that and am waiting for a reply.

Valerie, I will have to see if The Closer is on Prime. I "binge watched" Justified, after it was all on Prime so no time between seasons. Depending on the settings, you may have to log in to sites that you stay logged into if you do a virus scan. Did you change anything regarding scanning automatically on shut down or anything like that?

Shopping today for all last minute perishable stuff for tomorrow...fruit etc...

Have a great day!

Kyra Sedgwick is the lady I can't understand. It has close captioning now so we will see.
I can see watching Justified would work better compressed. We watched it spread out over years and got "lost" with the plot. All series are better IMO if you watch in closer sequence. I got completely confused on it around season 4.

I haven't changed any settings but suddenly keep needing to log in which is new. Will see if it improves by itself or if DH changed something. I had to log in to several others too but here it seems every time for last few days

Did the warm up and burn sets shoulders and core 1 for an easy day. I am getting too many reps on most moves and need to push up my weight level on several of them.

My granddaughter found a use for my fit Tower. Twirling and flipping like a gymnast.

Sorry the picture was so big. I sent it from Tapatalk. We had workers show up at 7:45 and went to bed at 2 a.m. . I think I am going to be tired for sure. My granddaughter and I had to make a trip to Sherwin Williams first thing. I got some things done last night for tomorrow. I spent so much time trying to take down box valances and drapery rods last night. My shoulders and neck are sore from looking up and hands and arms hurt. Last night my husband and I were talking about how crazy it was that both of us worked arms yesterday before all of this work. When my granddaughter leaves I need to hit a store. I am not looking forward to going to a Walmart the day before Easter. I need a mop. I have a steam mop but need a mop. We used to have one that you could put rags in but have no clue where it is. WE had so much carpet that I just used a rag, bucket and mopped the kitchen and upstairs bath on my hands and knees.

Deb, I got the discount and I don't think I did subscribe and save. I used Pay Pal. I should check. I think that I used my code for bone broth protein 20 off that they gave me through the mail though. I do not like the idea of subscribe and save. I don't want to have to remember all of that stuff and when it is coming out of my account. Amazon has it for panties and stuff. I wondered why someone would do subscribe and save for underwear.

Valerie, I had problems with the workout manager last week and this week I have had to log in a lot to get on here. Also, I have to type in the whole password because it is no longer remembering my password.

Hello Everyone,
Today is my rest day. The weather is absolutely beautiful today and there are many Easter events going on. I miss doing some of the activities for young children.

Valerie, I watched The Closer when it was on network tv. Kyra Sedgwick had an awful southern accent in that show so I can see why you would have difficulty understanding her.

Diane Sue your granddaughter is so cute in that picture. That's one thing that will never happen on my tower!

Have a wonderful day.

More painting tomorrow after all. We moved Easter activities to my daughter's house. my husband may miss it depending on how long the painters take. They are coming at 7 in the morning and are really pretty fast. I would say over half is already done and they do an excellent job. Very neat, no drips, and things are clean. The ceramic tile is in and will be grouted and the rest laid, which is wood look planks with the underlayment.. I have to cook the ham and turkey breast in the morning so will have to tread lightly on that tile. The painters still have to paint the kitchen area. Most of it is above the cabinets and behind the refrigerator. It is going to be such an improvement when it is all done. Gertie won't eat tonight. I think she is a bit worried about all of this stuff going on and staying upstairs in my workout room. She sticks to me like glue. I have stayed there with her all day, than my store trips.

Carolyn, if I did that on the tower I am sure something would be broke. She started out on top of the whole thing. I could see me falling on my head or something. I think I may be taking it apart when I have small people visiting just for their protection.

Judy, that is odd because the same thing has been happening to me. I don't think clearing the cache is the problem though. Also I am on the secure check in. I check in on different devices too.
