Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 4/1

Deb I have a foot issue called hallux rigidis it looks a little like a bunion but is not. The joint disintegrated. No joint there really. no real reason, only one foot. Surgery would be a little less intense than bunion surgery because the toe is straight, but it has built up an outside bump. It does not hurt and functions ok causing mostly shoe fit issues. it involves bone shaving( cringe) an unpleasant thought. Yoga irritated it sometimes but otherwise it’s benign and causes no discomfort.

I go to “voice only”, skip music. I liked older music that mimicked real songs better. This screechy repetitive stuff is worse than nothing.

Lori I had socks and gloves with sticky dots and also one with a solid panel of tacky rubbery sole . They helped take some pressure off my big toe.

We said our goodbyes to Nilla this morning. Our hearts are breaking. Last night we knew it would be soon. After I posted this morning it was clear she was ready. We decided to call and not prolong and they took us right away. She went to sleep peacefully in my loving arms. This is so hard.

Lori many hugs to you and your DH. so hard to deal with when you love the little doggie so much. wonderful the vet could get you in right away.

This morning I did WS3 Lower Body for 36 minutes and 129 calories burned. Average heart rate was 106 and maximum heart rate 138. I followed that with the WS3 Total Stretch for an additional 18 minutes.

Lori, I am so sorry about Nilla.

Lori, my heart goes out to you. I know how much you love little Nilla. She will always have a place in your heart. Working out with the stars sounds fun. I have socks with the non slip things on the bottom, but the rough feel of the non slip things through the socks irritate my feet. I think yoga socks have open toes for movement? I have seen crochet patterns for making your own. My heavy bag stand and 100# bag were quite a job getting upstairs. It does take up a huge corner of my workout space, but I am not willing to get rid of it.

I started blowing snow when we left for the shower. The roads were not real bad though and the flakes were beautiful looking out the sun room windows of the tea room. My 9 year old granddaughter was fascinated by the tea pots with the tea light candle to keep the tea warm and the pretty tea cups. We spent time afterward walking around their shop in front with lots of pretty things along with teas and flavored vinegar, mostly balsamic with flavors. I did manage to get in Z Cut Power Cardio disc 2 workout # 6 with the warm up and cool down, 26 minutes, 162 calories. I forgot to start my Fit Bit so only had Map My Fitness to go by. I haven't logged it on workout manager to see about what Met value it would be. The workout itself minus warm up and cool down is only 10 minutes.

Deb, I will have to check out the concentrated Mrs Myers cleaner when what I have is gone. Nice work on the steps. I know I get more steps when I use the treadclimber and a lot with the rebounder. I suppose I should do those more, but I like variety more than I do worrying about the steps. I got over 10,000 steps twice this week which is good for me. :)

Valerie, I avoid foot surgery. When I kept having pf and had my foot hurting they x rayed and I have a bone spur. The doctor told me they could set me up with an orthopedic surgeon, but if I was able to still exercise and it wasn't stopping me from doing things, she suggested I hold off. She said many people get surgery and are worse off than they were before. Maybe she was just thinking of a particular type of surgery. I have terrible toes and a couple rub the top of shoes. I just hunt for comfortable shoes that handle my foot issues. Thinking of yoga, I was fine with all of the jumping and everything a few days ago, but then when I did yoga it set off something in my toe and I was hobbling around trying to keep from bending it because it hurt so much. I get cramps in my toes when doing up dogs and often end up holding the position differently.

Carolyn, are you doing a Walk Strong 3 rotation? Or just using some of them.

Diane Sue, it sounds like the bridal shower was very nice. I am doing the WS3 rotation with some other workouts added in. WS3 has so many workouts to choose from with the 20 workouts on 6 dvds. I made a list to check off what I previewed and the workouts that I completed to avoid getting confused when I first started with them. I got WS3, Build and Burn, and Fit Split around the same time. With so much to choose from, I didn’t get to fully explore WS3.

Lori, so sorry about Nilla. She had a wonderful life with you and will always have a place in your heart. ((HUGS)).
