Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 3/3

Quick check in. I will have to come back later as I need to shower and pick up my granddaughter from school She has early release today.
My workout today was Ice Rock'm Sock'm Kickbox main + blizzard blast basic mix 4, 63 minutes, met 8.5, 452 calories, heart rate average 139, max 163, 6,045 steps. I used 1# dumbbells till the blizzard blast started.
I then did Icy Core #2 14 minutes, met 4.0 (Cathe has 5 but does not work for me) 50 calories, heart rate average 189, max 111, 53 steps. I used an 8# db and med tension band. Total time was 77 minutes, calories burned 502, 6,098 steps.

This morning I did Great Glutes. It was 56 minutes and 194 calories burned. My average heart rate was 103 and maximum heart rate was 136.

Deb, I hope that you are doing okay. I miss seeing your early morning posts :). I’m adjusting this weeks workouts a bit since I didn’t do anything Wednesday. I just saw your post that you were babysitting today. That’s a workout of a different kind.

Lori, thanks for the update on your air fryer. I wondered which brand you bought. I use regular Dijon mustard and whole grain. I love both and use them in salad dressings.

Diane Sue, nice workouts today. You got a lot done before leaving to, pick up your granddaughter.

Hello to Judy and Valerie.

Lori thanks . I will look at the size of the unit Costco is selling for $70. probably smaller. I roast so many things it might work for us. I'm not a fan of fried food, but roasted, yes! it always needs a splash of olive oil. I didn't try the salmon last night as planned but soon. DH wants salmon prepared so he cant tell its salmon. geesh! what a stupid goal. I have a huge jar of dijon and use it for everything that needs mustard. I used to use arrowroot powder as a sub for cornstarch. I so rarely use cornstarch, I don't worry about it.

Damn, it snowed again last night. I got awakened at 2 am when the power went out. it was typical of a tree leaning on a power line, lights and power flicking on and off about 4-5 times over 5 minutes and then going off for good. came back on around 7 am. so annoying because the furnace resets to 71 degrees. I would melt. we keep it at 60 /62. I called in the power out and then went back to sleep. another 4 or so inches of snow out there. DH is shoveling I think it will melt during the day today so a waste of energy.

I really enjoy the music on the new series. not too loud. I like the songs. I am playing these on exactly the same hardware set up as the previous series were played. I wonder if more people had trouble with the sound level than we heard about, since this is completely different. I really liked Rev'd up rumble yesterday. Anyone notice how high Nicole can kick? wow, impressive.
It takes me a while to learn moves so I don't miss the first rep every time a move switches. with all this snow, I will be back to indoors for a while. I don't think snow will last long but it sure stops riding. you can ride thru a little snow with a mt bike but just like with cars, it is not the getting going where the problem lies, its in the stopping.

One thing about snow is you get to see all the footprints of critters who walk through when we aren't looking. many deer, rabbits, bobcat probably, house cat, coyotes. lots of action out there.

we started watching a series called First. great cast. really excellent so far. so I looked to see how many seasons, find it cancelled after 1 season. cant imagine why. it seems like such a first rate production. we will watch it regardless. have not seen Sean Penn in anything in ages. the guy is totally ripped! his fat level must be under 5%.

Carolyn, nice work with Great Glutes. I did not expect to get in as long of a workout today and was happy with it :)

Deb, I hope that babysitting went well today.

Valerie, sorry it snowed again. Fortunately we are at 50 right now. I made salmon last night with roasted broccoli, but I have been pretty much using olive oil and a seasoning called Paleo powder which comes in different flavors, but I am really liking the green aip one the best and keep choosing it. I need to try the mustard. I love dijon and spicy brown. I think I want to get the Rev'd up and Rumble workout next as I am adding them one or two at a time. I haven't seen Sean Penn in anything in a long time either.

Deb where are you this morning?
Lori, costco sells 3 sizes of air fryers, one 6 qt. I would have assumed too big but after what you said, I would seriously look at it. I usually make generous amounts of vegies because I like left overs for snacks, and not a big price initial difference.
we are snow covered again. roads melted out quickly so driving is fine but this will take a while to go away. I was really getting all rev'd up for mt biking. now that will go on hold for a while.

series I mentioned is called The First. 8 episodes. a bunch of recognizable actors in it. disappointing it was cancelled since it is good but maybe(??) it slows down too much. Sean Penn looks older, no face lift or anything. in great shape. I enjoy watching him. military/astronaut in this one

We stopped at the cable company yesterday. getting hooked back up to basic cable. we have tried everything to get local news and channel 9(PBS) and nothing works reliably. some days the signal is fine, other days it is unwatchable. does not seem related to weather, wind, trees, clouds or anything else. streaming is fine but can't get news when timely. I don't want to watch "news" from a week ago,. this will mean a connection for our exercise room. streaming never works very well there. besides the one channel we get clearly has hired a "news"person who is impossible to watch. she makes you want to run screaming from the room. the other two channels are sometimes available and some times not.
pricing is more competitive than a few years ago. I want simple. unfortunately this means at least 4 remotes to run.

diane sue I think Rev'd up rumble leans toward the easy side. like rock em sock em another one I like. no dread factor. no fancy foot work. I combine with upper body weights. I like 6 pack abs too.

This morning I did ICE Rock ‘m Sock ‘m Kickbox which was 48 minutes and 375 calories burned. My average heart rate was 134 and maximum heart rate was 168. I had my investment club meeting today which was very enjoyable as usual. Recently we talked about the fact that we have been together over 19 years and we still like and respect each other!

Valerie, I saw some pictures from the snow near Seattle last night. Washington is really getting hit this winter. I like to cook extra vegetables too for the same reason that you do. They never go to waste here. I looked at the air fryers on Costco.com and they had three there. One sounds similar to what Lori bought.

Diane Sue, I like the Rev’d Up Rumble with the Calorie Crush bonus. It makes it similar to some of the other kickboxing workouts. As with the other LiTE workouts, you have several premix options.

Hello to Lori, Judy, and Deb.

This morning I did a new Coffey Fit Raw Cardio Hiit 2, 36 minutes, heart rate 141 average, max 160, 3,398 steps, 239 calories. I then did Ice Muscle Meltdown Triceps, 15 minutes, heart rate average 100, max 128, met 6.5, 210 steps, 86 calories. Total time was 51 minutes, calories burned 325, 3,608 steps.
Triceps 3 giant sets of 12 reps
Overhead extensions 15# dbs
triceps kickbacks 15# dbs
dips body weight
lying extensions 15# dbs
close grip bench press 15# dbs
Busy making a birthday cake for my granddaughter and getting things done so we can run out on a couple of errands today. Birthday celebration tomorrow.

Carolyn, those premix options sure make the workouts worth while. There is always ways to make them work for what I need. I think I will like the calorie crush for that one. I really like the one on the Metabolic workout. Nice that you have been able to enjoy the company of your investment group for so many years :)

Valerie, I have always felt Rock'm Sock'm was pretty light work till I add the blizzard blast :) Those extras like the blizzard blast and calorie crush segments are nice when I want a bit more to the workout, but sometimes just a nice workout without pushing really hard is nice too.

Hi,

Did not get a chance to sit down at the computer until now. I had to fill in for the Saturday morning agility trainer, and then take my class, which I filled in for as well.

Carolyn, you are doing great with this rotation. Wow, 19 years is impressive. Yes, babysitting can be a workout. In this case, when there is only 1 ( boy, 4 years old) it is a piece of cake. He is so good at entertaining himself, he has a great imagination, loves all those action figures, and super heroes. When he is with his 7 year old sister, it is a different story. I become a referee, not a babysitter..

Valerie, I never really cared for salmon either, but loved the one we got in Seattle! What a big difference. We use arrowroot powder too for thickening. I can't believe the weather you are getting. John's sister emailed him and described it as well.

Hi to Judy & Lori,

Take care,
