Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 3/26/2023

we skied again today but not in the park. we skied here last year. just a road that goes into forest service land but loads of wildlife. more fresh snow. the snowpack this year is huge. still cold and snowing. saw lots more animals on the drive since the park is so snowy many have gone outside the edges of the park for less snow. the snow is so deep its hard for deer elk moose to wade through it and find enough to eat. went with our neighbor and her dog. about 2.5 hours. we are driving back tomorrow. we have appts next week. going to try to set up the app so we can remotely reboot the router so it can connect with the smart thermostat. we need some information we don't have with us.

cathy that is some trick. I could never get our big kitty wrapped in a towel. nope. I was able to head first hi into the carrier if i faced away and then turned quickly before he could roadblock it with his paws. every cat has its own way to deal!. amazing about lalanne. I will watch some of it later. I hate that when you get stuck in a backup and you have no clue why or how long it might last. I seriously wonder if truck drivers are getting well trained these days. it seems like almost daily there is at least one serious crash locally that makes the news. a lot of crashes don't even get reported unless they are "spectacular".

kind of amazing, isnt it? no mirror to look at her own chin? any kind of mirror! there is probably something in her house but its such a damn effing mess she could probably never find it. i get pretty disgusted. how can anyone live like this? I sent her decent size hand mirror that arrived yesterday. even if she managed to have chin examined and cleaned/dressed, she still needs to see if it's healing ok or looks infected etc.

Today I did CDorner 70's & 80's #276 45 minutes,199 calories, heart rate 124/162, 3,515 steps. I then did CDorner Cardio Mobility from Wednesday, 30 minutes, 73 calories, 272 steps. Total time was 75 minutes, 272 calories, 3,680 steps. My husband got me Samsung Bluetooth earbuds that arrived today. Looking forward to using them.

Carolyn, nice job getting in Cardio Quick Fix this morning before the electricity is down. I always find it amazing how many other things I get done when power is out or internet. I think I waste a lot of unnecessary time. I have not done much around the house other than cooking and laundry since we have been home. Next week will be a lot of catching up.

Cathy, nice work with Cross Train Express shoulders, triceps and biceps today. Cathe really lifts heavy on biceps with Cross Train weight workouts. I could only get a couple of biceps curls with 25# dumbbells. Otherwise I could keep up with her. That probably would be not wise for me to try to do at this point. I am planning on still being able to work out one way or another the rest of my life. Nice that Elaine is still keeping up with it. I think it is the best way to stay mobile as we age.
Getting Mopsy to the vet sounds like a fun experience.

Valerie, I am glad you were able to get skiing in and seeing a lot more animals on the drive. Your sister probably seen her reflection in a reflection or a pan or something. I remember being at someone's house and they did not have a mirror in the bathroom. It was odd as I wondered how they combed their hair and groomed themselves.

diane sue she ht herself somewhere under her chin. she has a bathroom mirror but says she cant see the area with it and needs a hand mirror. she has a short fat neck( not being bitchy. it would be hard to see without a hand mirror) that doesnt make it easier. Im guessing her bathroom mirror is too high and small. its an old house. sigh............ I gave up trying to make sense of the situation. I will call her tomorrow while we are driving to see how things are progressing. worried about infection and she probably needs a tetanus shot since she probably hasn't had one in decades and her house is filthy so no matter where she fell, its risky.

This morning I did My Finished Step and then Stretching with the Ball #1 from the Total Stretching DVD. We had thunderstorms last night and after the briefest bit of sun this morning it's raining again. The paths were really waterlogged after the rain the other day, so it's probably a pond back there now. And the lake back in the fields showed up, too.

When I used to be involved with animal rehab and humane organizations, I got really good at getting a variety of things into carriers and/or nets. These days, my netting tends to be limited to small rodents and birds in the house. I also used to have the hard sided carriers, which I would stand on end and stick the cats down into. The ones I have now are soft sided which have some benefits, but are definitely harder to get an unwilling cat into.

Valerie heavy snow is rough on the hoofed animals. Since we had a mild winter around here, the deer are flourishing. The couple of different herds I see are good sized this year, though it appears that they are starting to break off into smaller groups as it gets closer to good weather. The only other thing I see in numbers is when I drive to Lansing, the wild turkey flock I see is very big this year. The ski outing sounds wonderful with all the sightings. While I'm not always thrilled with truck drivers, I find them handy in backups because they will take control of traffic and block things, so up ahead one lane can get formed sooner and they usually have a better read on what's ahead. Since I was stopped and sitting, I opened my maps, but all it told me was that the traffic was stopped. Smooth travels today.

Diane Sue great job with 70's & 80's and mobility.

Hi to Judy and Carolyn.

I didn’t work out today. This morning was very stormy but it cleared up by midday. My youngest brother came by to visit for a while which was nice. We haven’t seen each other in person in months.

Hello to everyone and have a nice remainder of the day.
