I am not feeling well this morning. I don't know if it is just allergies or something else since my stomach is upset too. I did Fit Split Low Impact only mix, 27 minutes, 175 calories, avg heart rate 132, max 167. That is it for me today. I have to take my husband to pick up the motorcycle he left to be serviced. Not much else here.
Deb, it seems you get more for your money when you make your own protein bars. It is just the convenience of buying them already packaged. The Clif protein bars I picked up were more like rice krispies or something with chocolate coating. I wasn't impressed. I picked up some recently because I got rebates from them. It really depended on the flavors of the luna bars. They are not a favorite of mine. I have tried my hand at making my own. There are recipes for them. I have made some Double Chocolate Energy bites from the Paleo OMG cookbook that are really good. They have figs in them with almond butter, coconut, chocolate protein powder, chocolate chips, and other ingredients. My family all really liked those. They are chewy though. There are some Perfect raw bars that I pick up once in awhile at Sprouts. They are refrigerated and have ground nuts and other ingredients. The texture is a bit different. Not so much like dried fruit, a bit like ground nut flour.
Valerie, I don't think they bake Luna bars. The recipes are just done in a food processor where you grind up the dates and whatever other ingredients are in them. I like dates and figs so mixed with nuts it tastes good to me. They do that instead of adding sweeteners and sugar to the bars. I love nuts. Nuts is probably the one problem I have with keeping my weight down. I would worry about the turn over of all of those nutrition bars in that store. I have picked up some even at Sprouts that tasted like old stale nuts. Not a good taste. I even watch the bulk bins at Sprouts because I have caught them dumping fresh stuff on top. They are not supposed to do that. If you go in and it is getting low in the bin, you chance old nuts. I prefer to buy their bagged raw walnuts over the bins. I am sure a little sugar here and there is okay. I pick up Kind bars at Walmart when I am shopping and haven't eaten. They are better than most of the brands of bars that Walmart carries.
I program my thermostat really low at night and have increase when it is after the time I get up. That way I do not crawl into bed and forget.
