Cathlete
Good morning,

No workout yesterday but I did make it through Agility class without collapsing. The guy was not able to recover my emails or contacts. It said the back up file was not done correctly, so the files were not actually there. :(. Oh well, that's how it goes with computers some times I guess.

Lori, thanks for that link. I would like to try it! I only watched the warm up, first 7-8 minutes, it looks very doable and easy to modify.

Carolyn, Nice workout! Yes premixes are great, Cathe is the best for those.

Valerie, nice trip....safe travels home today.

Judy, great workouts. I had CTX but sold it on Ebay. All the cardio was way too high impact for me.

Diane Sue, was that Mish Mosh an actual premix or did you make it up? Have fun at the double birthday party today.

I think I will rest again today, I don’t want to push it since I am still coughing, and my chest does not feel 100%...or even 80%. I have enough HouseMax to keep me busy!

Take care,

This is my rest day and that is exactly what I am doing Yesterday I did get to the outdoor farmers market as part of my shopping. As always I was able to get farm fresh vegetables, fresh milled bread and farm eggs. It was a productive morning but I developed a bad allergy headache which is hanging on today.

I made a pound cake for my dessert loving husband to go with some fresh strawberries that I got yesterday. He is very happy about that.

Deb, it's a good idea to rest for your recovery. Rest and fluids are very helpful.

Lori, hope you are well. I'm sure that yesterday must have been difficult for you.

Diane Sue, your family birthday celebration sounds like fun especially with the barbecue and potatoes already done. We picked up barbecue yesterday and enjoyed it very much.

Judy, I have CTX, but of course I haven't used the premixes since I forget to look at them.

Valerie, hope your trip home goes smoothly.

Have a wonderful afternoon everyone.

Good afyernoon ladies,

Yeaterday morning I did the new Body By Simone Dvd. It was a lot of dun and boy my legs feel the leg work today. This morning I did a bunch of SB Streaming to give me a total body workout. Then immediatly to GiGi for a 3 mile walk. Great colorie burn today - was over 700 with the workout and walk! Nice.

Yesterday was so hard. Was open casket which made it even harder. Did not even look like her. Told my husband when it is my time...no matter what no open casket. Put a picture up and have a party. That is my wish. It was nice to see my friends sisters. They told me they have a ton of pictures of me they will be posting on FB. Can't wait to see them.

Oops...hit send too quickly!!!

Deb...you have had some horrible computer issues the past couple of years! Hoping this is it for you. The cardio part of that workout is a lot of jumping but thinking it can be modified. Love the arm and leg portions. Short but felt the burn. She used 4# and I decided to use 5# and that was perfect for me.

Carolyn...hoping you are feeling better. I love pound cake!!!

Judy...been ages since I have done CTX. I first boughtbthem on VHS and then when things went to DVD I loved the series so muuch I rebought them on DVD! I really need to take another look at this set. I remember it being fun.

Diane Sue...hope you had a great day with your family! Was so nice here today taking GiGi for a walk. A little cooler than it has been but nice and sunny. Congrats on going heavier than Cathe!! Good for you!

Have a great afternoon all!

well, we are back. tired! we walked around along the beach areas yesterday admiring blooming plants, but southern cal is not for me. too busy, too crowded. I hate it there .....but I knew that already. that's why we planned a fast trip. DH hates it more than I do. we turned in early after the ceremony and dinner. they cranked up the music so loud you could not even talk and my ears hurt!. I don't understand why that has to be. it was WAY too loud to talk. so we were back in our room by 8:30 or so and then people upstairs from us started making a racket. we ended up calling the front desk 4 times over the night the last at 3:30 am, and we just got up after that as we had a 4:40 wake up call. DH just called the hotel mgr to complain and got our money refunded for last night. still, very little sleep last night. some trips are smoother than others. no workouts, but didn't over eat at all. more wine than normal but nothing crazy there either.

Lori, I really wish people didn't do open caskets. why do people want to see and have that their last memory of someone they cared about. yes, have a party in my honor but don't look at whatever debris is left at that point.

Deb, too bad about the files. and the head cold. that's a load to deal with. do you know how to do it now so it won't happen again?

CTX is one I never had. maybe came before I knew of Cathe. tomorrow I'll do a workout unless it happens to be nice enough for a ride. today is R&R. I'd like to watch some of the academy awards but I know last year every network blocked it from streaming I don't know what that happens..then they complain about low viewership. we watched a small part of it on some foreign service. seems like it was el jazeerah or something, but it got blocked too. this year our antenna is better so we shall see.
Carolyn you have allergy issues too? wow. I am bothered mostly by grass pollen and have been able to avoid it most of the time. I moved away from Wisconsin in part to get away from it.

for the longest time I thought premixes were only superlong versions of the main workout. I don't know why I thought that, but such a surprise when I looked a little closer. I use them regularly now. makes the same workout seem new and different.

No workout. We had a nice time with the birthdays today. My husband took me to Interurban again for dinner. I forgot and asked for the chopped salad again. I do not like it. I told my husband to remind me next time. I think the problem is that a lot of restaurants, including subway switched to chopped salads and iceburg lettuce is soggy when they get done mashing it up into a chopped salad. The chopped salads in bags in the grocery store are usually mixes of kale, broccoli, and Brussels sprouts and they don't get mushy. I don't even think that I ate half of that salad and their barbeque ranch dressing is really sweet tasting. I used to get the salads at Subway all of the time and get all of the veggies and peppers etc on them. Then they switched to the chopped salad and I quit ordering them.

Deb, that PHA mish mosh was on the dvd. There are two mixes using the lower body only. One was all exercises in the order they are on the disc, the one I did had you do each exercise 3 times before moving on. I added on the Ice Lower Body Blast blizzard blast bonus and the abs bonus. This made for a nice length lower body workout. The PHA lower split is only 28 minutes. That is too bad they couldn't get you contacts back. I guess if there is anything that needs updating it will be done when you try to get it all put back in. You could have used the weight segments on the CTX workouts. I used to like to string the cardio segments together one day and another do the lower or upper. I also used to do the mix with all

Carolyn, I like it when the cooking is pretty much all done. It was a much more relaxing visit. I came in from church and changed and the girls were setting everything out for me. My granddaughter Olivia was thrilled with her Oreo ice cream desert. She said," you really put yourself all out Nana". She loved the cake and her new keyboard. She said it was the best birthday ever.
I love pound cake. Most of the cakes that I make are based on pound cake recipes. They are much more moist and dense. Cake mixes are spongy and fall apart when you cut them. I bet your husband was pleased.

Lori, I have never seen someone in an open casket that looked right. My husband says he will haunt me if I leave his open. It's funny, today my grandson was looking at car parts on my laptop on you tube and he had logged into his account. He didn't log back out and today he noticed I had saved the Simone workout to his you tube LOL. I had to laugh. Our weather was cooler here today as well, but nice enough that I did not bother with a jacket when we went to church. Nice calorie burn today.

Valerie, we lived in California at one time. When ever we have went back, we always say that we do not miss it at all. Too congested. Smog is bad. It has been a lot of years since we have been there and my husband has two sisters and a brother there. I am sure that you are relieved to be home. My husband and I used to go out to dinner and walk along the beach at night. That was rather nice.

Good morning,

No workout yesterday, still waiting a bit more for the cold to be gone completely. I did get a lot done around the house though.

Carolyn, it sounds like you got a lot of good stuff at the market. Sorry about the allergy headache. Was it from being outdoors at the market?

Lori, so sad about your friend. Nice that you got to see her sisters and talk with them. That was a great calorie burn! I am going to try to put some type of "marker" or book mark on my phone for that workout. Then I can use it with my Chromecast. Not sure how to get it bookmarked though. I bet Gigi loves those walks.

Valerie, it sounds like the trip was not great, especially the last night at the hotel. Well good that you are back you where you are comfortable. I believe the hard drive was corrupted when I tried to download the printer drivers from the HP site. Not sure why. I don't think I will ever try to do that myself again.

Diane Sue, so nice that your granddaughter liked her cake and present! There was a restaurant close by that we could walk to that had the best chopped salad I have ever had. Unfortunately they closed. I didn't realize Subway had any good salads at all. I may have eaten there once or twice, stuck in an airport with nothing else to eat. Thanks for the info on the PHA premixes. I need to do a different type of rotation, one that focuses on lower and upper separately.

Going to my friends house this morning to watch 3 episodes of Suits. We fell behind again. LOL. :)

Take care,

good morning, feeling a bit rested now and none the worse for wear. will be surprised if we get by without getting sick though. seemed like coughing and sneezing was widespread. so hard to avoid. deb, trip itself was tedious. we knew that going in though. we even thought about trying to do it in one day but I vetoed that. we got a chance to visit with family. the wedding itself was OK, but the evening dinner and dancing the volume was WAY too high. I finally went back to the room for earplugs but we didn't stay much after that. the music was so loud you could not hear or shout loud enough. then as I said, we got little sleep. they will refund us for that night's charge.

we watched the whole Oscar show last night and it was pretty decent. last year we couldn't get it to play because all channels were blocked but no problems this year. it was pretty streamlined compared to past shows, but the last few minutes were chaotic. I try to see most of the movies over the next year as they come out on dvd or streaming.

it's snowing today so forget riding. not enough to accumulate very much. driving anywhere will be difficult and maybe I will just catch up on shopping and laundry and do an indoor workout. didn't do anything but walking and some stair climbing for 3 days.

Today's workout was Party Rocking Step 2, combos 1-5 and part of the finished product. Total time for me was 47 minutes.

Deb, my headache started with sinus pressure but only got worse from being outside. The residual pain is gone and I feel fine today.

Diane Sue, do you bake the pound cake batter in layers? I have a friend who does that for the cakes that she decorates. My husband is definitely enjoying the pound cake. I rarely bake when it's just the two of us here, so it is very special for him.

I haven't seen any of the new movies, but I am looking forward to seeing a couple of them. I've been watching episodes of NBC's new show This is Us and I just got caught up on Saturday. It's really good and I don't care for a lot of television.

Have a good afternoon. We have rain starting, so I am doing housework.

Today I did Rapid Fire 3 Rock Steady Rock Hard with the heavy bag and using 8's for the metabolic segment and abs. 83 minutes, 596 calories. I then did PHA Timesaver Mix #2 which eliminates chest and shoulders. It is Round 2 A+2B+2C. 25 minutes, 166 calories. Total time was 1 hour 48 minutes, 762 calories. I thought this was a good pre-mix add on after the metabolic weight work in Rapid Fire today.
Weights
cross back lunges off step 15# all 3 rounds
biceps curls 15's all 3 rounds
deadlifts 25's all 3 rounds
Pullovers rnd 1 cathe's weight at 15's dropped to 12's rnd 2 and 3
standing squat 25's all 3 rnds
lying triceps extensions 12's rnd 1, 15's rnd 2and 3

Deb, good idea to take it easy a bit longer. Can you just go to the internet on your phone and pull up the workout and save that link to your bookmarks on your phone. I always have Cathe's site bookmarked on my devices. Also when I was doing the live workouts I kept that bookmarked and as a favorite place so I could just open the link. Or put it on you tube as a watch later so it is easy to find. I used to take the grandchildren to Subway all of the time and I would get the salad with chicken on it and add all of the veggies and peppers. I left out the sweet pickles and sweet peppers though. I just liked the jalapeno ones. Then I would get their chipotle sauce on it. So with the iceburg lettuce salad mix I added the spinach and other items. Then when they went to chopped salad they ruined it. Funny thing, one of the Subways I used to go to with the children all of the time had this fairly heavy woman working that was always so nice to the kids. She though I was skinny and would throw on an extra serving of chicken. Subway was my way of taking the children out for lunch and still having something healthy for all of us. No chips allowed.

Valerie, speaking of sickness, the woman and her little boy that sat behind us seemed to have a lot of coughing and nose blowing. I did not see her husband and I can only guess he was at home sick since he usually handled the sound system. I kept thinking that they have a greeting time with all of the hand shaking and keep my hands away from my face. It is really hard to leave home without coming across others that are sick. I hope that you manage to avoid it. Did they mess up on the winner announcement on the Oscars this year? I heard something on the news this morning but was not sure if they were referring to another year. I did not watch them. I always feel like there is too much fuss and I feel they are forced at times to not chose the best for the winners. Anyway, I guess it gives a list of good movies to watch. Amazon won something I think for one of their movies?

Carolyn, I am glad to hear the headache is gone. Yes, I bake the pound cake in layers. It requires so much stuff, but is so much better. Plus using butter instead of oil like the cake mixes call for makes a big difference. I made one in a bundt pan this summer for our vacation trip and froze it to take with us for my daughter's birthday. Everyone loved it. I filled the middle with strawberries and sat them all around it and passed out whipped cream for those that wanted it.

there was confusion when faye dunaway/ warren beatty gave out the best picture award to La la land. suddenly it was chaos. this was incorrect. even though an acceptance speech was started, they said Moonlight was the real winner. at first it looked like maybe ( to
TV viewers like me) they read the name wrong, but this morning it seems they were given the wrong envelope. it will get sorted out. I felt bad for them because it made them look like idiots at first, but I thought there's no way BOTH of them could make that kind of mistake.

the awards had actually gone pretty smoothly. there are always the technical awards but it felt streamlined compared to a few years ago. we were both tired but watched the whole thing, over by 9 pm. there were ample jabs at trump but most was lower key than I expected.
I put a bunch of movies on my Netflix list. overall, the themes of all seem pretty depressing so I don't want to watch them all ASAP.. except for la la land, but I don't like musicals and skip them. I really enjoyed last years winner, Spotlight. nothing like that in the mix this year that I'm aware of.
It seems so hard to compare completely different types of movies and decide on what is "best". I love to see all the dresses, jewelry and hairdos .

Yes seeing the clothing and hairstyles is always interesting. I am not a fan of musicals. I wouldn't be so excited about watching depressing movies.

Good morning,

No workout yesterday, hope to start back soon. I did have a good time watching 3 episodes of Suits at my friend's house. :). She made chicken soup that really was delicious.

Valerie, so strange, we are having spring like weather in February ( unheard of here!) and you are getting snow.

Carolyn, I started watching This is Us, streaming on my iPad and they cut me off after 3 episodes! I guess the main TV stations are all starting a new thing where they make you pay extra for some shows....like CBS calls it "CBS All ACCESS"...don't people already pay for TV through their cable bills?

Diane Sue, yes, I have put Cathe Live on my phone so I can get to it easily to use with my Chromecast. I have never book marked a You Tube video though. I will look at the "watch later" option, that sounds good.

Class this morning,

Take care,

Deb, we are getting more snow. it's not cold enough to stick in lower elevation areas but the higher or further north, the more difficult it is. Yesterday morning a disastrous crash on the I-5 in downtown seattle. I paid more attention than usual because we just did the drive sunday at almost the same time, coming back from the airport. a propane truck rolled. closed the freeway both directions for 8 hours. I could not help but think of how awful it would have been if it had happened sunday. it would have taken us many many more hours to get home. people were stuck there so long that a taco truck, also stuck in the jam up, opened for business. then it started snowing. yes, a mess.

we are watching The Wire. getting close to the end. It's well done but still not easy to follow. I am enjoying it. we also started re watching a series called Rectify. watched 2 seasons of it a few years ago and lost track of new seasons. it's interesting, well acted, but the lead character is weird. a man convicted of rape/murder, spent 20 years in prison, then is released on DNA evidence. he is released back to his family. many in the town still think he was guilty. the story goes on from there, with flashbacks to 20 yrs before. it's interesting. the guy does some really stupid things though, so not sure how much I will like this one. it's definitely different interesting.... intelligent dialogue with good characters.

I did 2 premix sections of To the Mat and Core 1 from x train. about 45-50 min. I decided to do few runs of floor exercises to see how they feel. I get sore from barre type workouts. decided not do the whole disk at once. I want a little sore, but not a lot sore, if that makes sense.

Today I started with Ice Low Impact Sweat Step and blizzard blast mix, 38 minutes, 261 calories, max heartrate 159. I wanted to do Rock'm Sock'm blizzard blast but my dvd would not play. I wasted so much time trying to get it to play and get it to eject from my dvd player. This has happened with it before. I can't get help with it because it was purchased from Amazon. Anyway, I went back and did the Low Impact Sweat workout 1 and core two mix skipping the warm up, 35 minutes, 217 calories, max heart rate 150. Total workout 73 minutes, 478 calories
I have errands to run and cleaning to do. My granddaughter will be over after work today.

Deb, I a sure that you will find the watch later works well. I still haven't logged myself back into my you tube account. I really need to do that.

Valerie, that would have been terrible if you had been there waiting in that accident mess. That is funny about the taco truck. For me it would seem like having a portable toilet on hand might have made money. I wouldn't have been able to sit in the car for that many hours. My drive time wait to stop is generally before 3 hours is up and that is if I pre plan and only have a couple of sips of water that day before starting to travel. It is back in 70's here today. So weird for February. I still have To the Mat on my want list. I want to have the complete set. Although I am not sure what to do about my Ice Rock m Sock m dvd. It seems last time I used some disc cleaner stuff on it and it worked okay. Maybe it needs polished but it is one of my newest Ice dvds that I had purchased. It plays the FBI warnings and Cathe Log and then it does nothing. I can't get it out when I push eject. It just clicks. I have to turn it off and push eject to get it out.

Hello Everyone,
Today I did X Train Super Cuts, another good metabolic workout. I ran some errands after that and stopped in Costco to get a few items.

Deb, the subscription service for regular channels is very annoying. I watched one episode of The Good Fight, which is like a sequel to The Good Wife, but the other episodes are on CBS All Access. I won't be subscribing.

Diane Sue, I hate it when my technology interferes with the workout. You will like having the entire ICE series. Don't forget to look at the daily deals, you might find a bargain.

Valerie, I get very sore from Barre type workout also, but I do them anyway. The LBB Leg Conditioning Drills add-on works for me because its not too long.

Enjoy your day.

Good evening ladies,

Still plugging along with my SB rotation. I have been enjoying it. Todays workout was "Shoulders 2" and was only 10 mins. So I added on an upper body band workout that did the trick. I then did a quick rebounder workout then stretched and called it a day. Total workout was about 45 mins.

Diane sue...glad you had a nice time celebrating family bdays. Your workouts are amazing! 83 mins of Rapid Fire then you continued with a premix of PHA? You go girl! I like to see the celebrities, what they are wearing and hairstyles, etc. Although this year I did not watch any of it. Too bad about your DVD not playing. So frustrating.

Valerie...so far I have not been sick since the beginning of December. Hoping I make it thru the rest of the winter without anything too bad. I was sick in December with a nasty cold after being stuck in a business conference room for several days with 2 VP's terribly sick. Everyone ended up sick. When I first started with barre my legs were sore for sure. It turned into my favorite workout and has been for a while now. Seems to work for me.

Carolyn...I think I mentioned I really like the LBB leg conditioning. I sometimes use it as an add on when I need just a little more. We do not have a costco in this area. I wish there was. Glad your headache is better.

Deb..hope the cold is finally gone tomorrow. Home made Chicken Soup sounds delicious! I was thinking the same thing about Valerie's weather. It has been beautiful here. No complaints.

Have a great night all!

Good morning,

No workout yesterday....went to class, then had to meet John at the car place...he was a month behind on getting his car inspected. Actually woke up in the middle of the night and remembered it! So I hurried and got him an appointment for after work, and had to meet him there to pick him up.

Valerie, that crash sounds horrible. I hope people were not hurt? I will check out that show ( Rectify) to see if it is available on Prime. I tried twice to watch The Wire, and could not get into it. I had a hard time understanding the dialog.

Diane Sue, I agree, a port-a potty would be more welcome than a taco truck for me too! I would contact customer service at Cathe about the Rock-Em DVD. I bet they replace it for you.

Edited to add: Just noticed that you got the DVD from Amazon....I would ask them if I could return it. How long have you had it?

Carolyn, have not taken out Super Cuts in a while. I didn't know it was metabolic. I tried to watch The Good Fight too, same thing. Also, that is what happened to me with This is Us. They tease you with letting you watch the first 3 episodes, then you are supposed to subscribe and pay. That was with NBC. I guess they are all doing it now?

Lori, You are doing so well with Barre worouts. I wish I could warm up to them like you did. Great that you have gotten through so far without flu etc. Those zinc melt-a-ways really cut down on the length of my cold. It started on Tuesday, and by Friday it was basically gone. No dragging on cough which is what usually happens. They said yesterday on the radio that this February was the warmest Feb in Buffalo history. I can believe it.

Work this afternoon, nothing much else. My test that was scheduled for tomorrow was cancelled. Apparently I am supposed to have a "pre-test" of some kind before the actual test that they never scheduled for me. Ugh....now everything is re-scheduled for April. I am really sick of this. Ok...enough of my whining.

Take care,

Hi Everyone,

Monday I did Muscle Endurance and a segment of Stretch Max. Yesterday I did a Spinerval. We have had the most unusual weather for February. Yesterday it got warmer and we had bad thunderstorms all evening, and tornado warnings on the west side of Michigan. Today we have high wind warnings and more thunderstorms predicted, then a cold front is coming in and snow is predicted for tonight.

Deb-That's too bad that your test got cancelled. I would be getting frustrated too if that happened to me.
When I was out yesterday I noticed a lot of people coughing. Lots of things going around this year and the crazy weather isn't helping.

Valerie-that crash does sound horrible. I hope there weren't injuries. We were stuck behind a crash on the freeway travelling to Indiana last year. It wasn't a bad one and fortunately it was less than an hour that we were stuck, but there was also road construction going on so it was down to one lane in spots. We ended up being late for the wedding reception that we were going to. We got there just as everyone was packing up and leaving.

Diane Sue-That's too bad about the Rock'm Sock'm DVD. One time I ordered a Spinerval from Amazon and when I got it, I could tell it had been used (was supposed to be new). The package was worn and the DVD had scratches all over it. I complained to Amazon and was able to return it for a refund. It sounds like yours was defective. I don't know how long ago you bought it, but maybe Amazon would still do something for you.

Carolyn-Super Cuts is a great workout. I did that one for the first time last year. I like the LBB leg conditioning drills. I use them as add ons to other workouts.

Lori-We have both Costco and Sams locally, and use both. We probably go to Costco more often since it's closer, but there are things at Sams that we can't get at Costco so we keep both memberships. It's great that you haven't been sick this year.

I plan on doing an indoor ride this morning and probably staying close to home today due to the weather.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Judy

Good morning... the crash wasn't a big injury one, a few minor scratches. the main thing was it was a propane truck & was leaking propane. DOT had to transfer the propane to another truck. I've complained about all the homeless people living under and around the freeway. they all had to be evacuated since they live in tents and make fires.....and there was leaking propane. so the freeway was shut down both directions for about 8 hours. what a mess. I agree, a bunch of porta potties would have been more useful than a taco truck! I paid more attention because we were so tired on sunday..... if we'd gotten stuck in that mess it would have made a 1 hour drive into a much longer one. there are not enough alternate routes here and will never be. we seem to have something like this about once a year. last year if was a truck of frozen fish that went all over the place.

Too bad about the disk. I get nervous about a disk not working and getting stuck inside the player. Hopefully that's not an issue. illegally copied disks that aren't the quality of the actual ones even if they look new. for a while cathes disks had two different workouts on the same side of one disk and I had trouble with one of those but they replaced it for me. you might try asking them and maybe they'd do it as a goodwill gesture if you've purchased other cathe workouts directly. I would not remember off hand where I purchased every workout so it would not hurt to ask.

bummer on The Good Fight. I read about it and was hoping to see it. not right away, as streaming often has a delay, but eventually. wonder how the access issue will work out. I would not go back to cable as the price was ridiculous for the little we actually watched. we get much better choices streaming and it costs nothing. wonder how long that will last??

Deb that is too bad about the delay. hopefully you can get the pre test done and maybe the f/up expedited since it was someone's error.

I need to look back and remind myself about x train supercuts. I used that series a lot but I don't remember which one that was.

no workout yesterday but a busy active shopping day. no sitting around.

we looked at cars this morning while dropping off the Outback for service. . think we are going to get a new S Forester. mine is an '04 so I definitely have gotten enough use from it. it is still in great shape and runs well. no rush, but probably before summer.
