Good morning,

Agility class with Kylee yesterday. No other workout.

Valerie, I can't imagine a fruit that is barbeque flavored. Does not sound appetizing to me. Love my crock pot. Funny how we are all different when it comes to some thing. :).

Carolyn, how is your club doing? Didn't you have some PR recently on that?

Lori, nice workouts. Too bad about the snow! Will your office be closed again tomorrow? Great that Gigi did well on the longer leash. She probably just needs to work off that puppy energy. Does she retrieve well?

Diane Sue, wow that woman sounds amazing! Mid 80's????? That is unbelievable. Not sure what an instapot is....will need to go over to Pinterest and look.

Meeting my niece for breakfast, we like to get together once a month, just the 2 of us for lunch or breakfast.

Take care,

My husband and I went out to dinner last night then came home and watched the Jack Reacher: Never Go Back movie. The restaurant was not very busy. I told my husband it was probably because everyone was waiting till Valentines Day. We have never done anything special on Valentine's day. Maybe the first year we were married. Then we just decided we didn't need someone else to set a day for us.

Deb, an Instapot is a pressure cooker that is multifunctional. It can be a slow cooker, steamer, saute, pressure cook of course. I believe 8 functions. They have them on Amazon. I t has a digital read out. They even make one that is Bluetooth that you can monitor from your cell phone or is device. The Paleo community seems to rave about it and most seem really happy with the lower priced model.

Ha ha , Deb, the fruit is sliced up thin, seasoned with a 'barbecue" flavored sauce. (also came plain) in a refrigerated heat and eat pouch. We ate it one dinner, I made a kind of sloppy joe burger with it. the texture was not good for me. I didn't think a different flavor would have helped. it was ok, edible, but not a repeater.
I've used the crock pot for stews and beans. even on low settings though, things get done WAY faster than it says. I seem to remember that slow cookers used to work better but manufacturers moved heat range up higher because of food safety issues... too long a time at lesser temps. I've had mine 10-15 years. never found it that useful. easier to cook on the stovetop. I get nervous about going off somewhere for hours leaving something plugged in and cooking, unattended.

wow susan chung has some impressive credentials. and she has workouts for mere mortals?

I did a premix from Ramped up, and the core workout from S&S. I still do not seem to "get" several of the moves. will give it one more try and stop the disk and focus on those two moves to see what I am missing. went out for lunch with cousin and got our ipad back. screen replaced for $120. looks great and very quick.

Getting bed delivered today. could have had it yesterday but had the other things planned.

Good afternoon ladies!

This morning I decided to do Cathe Live Kick Punch Cardio. I think this is one of my favorites really moves along and some great kicking. Was going to do a Susan Chung but I like to preview a workout before I do it. I am weird like that. 48 mins/445 cal. Then did a quick 10 minute jump workout and it was another 100 cal.

Judy/Diane Sue..the watch strap on the bicep worked really well. Glad I spent the $30.

Diane Sue...I had to look up what an instapot was. They look really great. The Bluetooth one is amazing but not for $179!!!! Everyone seems to like them. I will but one on my wish list on Amazon and save my points. We do not go out for Valentines Day. My husband always picks me up a little something. He is very sweet like that. Thanks for sending the info on Susan Chung. She is really amazing.

Deb..I will not know if the office will be closed until the morning. I am the point of contact with the CFO and VP of HR. We talk it out then one we decide the outcome..I sign in and send a text message to everyone in the office and field alerting them of our decision. We try to get message out by 6am. GiGi is a great retreiver! We love playing fetch with. She will bring the ball or whatever we throw back to us and actually give it to us. Chester use to get the ball and keep it! We plan to take her out on the long lead again later today. Snowing really hard right now.

Valerie..I am huge on texture! For example, I love rasins out of the box or in cereal but once they are cooked/baked in something then they are gross to me. Can't eat them. My crockpot is pretty old too. That is awesome getting bed delivered on a Sunday. My how things have changed. That is a great price for the replacement screen. Prices sure did come down from when the Ipads first came out. Still a lot of money though when you think about it.

Carolyn...love that you have investment meetings!

My husband I are watching Braveheart this afternoon on our projection screen. He has never seen it and it is a favorite of mine. That is our plan for this afternoon. Then we plan to deal with the snow. Ugh.

Have a great afternoon all!

No workout again this morning. I am going to do some stretching and Yoga Tune up this afternoon. My neck and shoulders are still sore, a lot of it stems from the nerve damage line and almost burns. I keep trying to find something to help it mend. I realize that it can take a year or more to mend in a lot of cases.
After pulling out the Susan Chung workout, I would like to work them in this week. No family brunch today. Pat of the Family is at Disney World and my son in law is getting ready to head out of country. I have a marble cheesecake I am making and decorating for my husband to take to work for valentines celebration. I will be working on it today. I did practice some pink spritz hearts dipped in chocolate and went ahead and put them in the freezer. I may need to go buy a cake box in the morning to put it in. I am not sure I have a container that would hold the decorative cake board I bought to sit it on.

Valerie, Susan Chung is a good instructor. The workouts are not overwhelming to do. She teaches classes at her husband Bruce Chung's Gym. I guess that is why many Slow cooker recipes has you cook a lot of the food ahead of time. Then I often wonder why I can't precook, put into containers and put it all together and just back or cook it on the stove top. Much like they do in my Wild Diet Cookbook. I do use my slow cooker though. I just prefer not to smell it all day. It was nice when I had jury duty. I just have to pick and choose the best recipes for it. Soups are nice but I always feel ones with something like chunks of butternut squash or potatoes are not good choices because they become mushy from being overcooked. If I use it at home I add those items later in the day. I like all of the other features of the Instapot. It would be nice to have a larger steamer. My rice cooker steamer is small. A two to four serving sort of size. My slow cooker is large and I use it but I get burnt on it from steam all of the time because I have to pry the lid off. The plastic handles and hinges they had on it melted and broke off the screws that go into the glass lid. I put duck tape over the screw holes and use a table knife to remove the lid. It works but I would like something new. I also like to use my small slow cooker for chicken breast that I want to shred for salads and soups. Otherwise I think that the slow cooker makes the chicken to dry for a chicken dish.
I watch on S&S abs and it seems on that side plank lift with the leg raise move Cathe shifts her hands a bit her arm is further back on the mat. I would imagine for more balance from where her foot that is on the floor is. At first she has that foot on the floor out further and the leg straighter. I lose my balance like this. Then later she moves that foot on the floor in closer, much like the other women are doing. That makes it more balanced. I have not done the exact sequence that Cathe does from the plank to back tap, push ups, etc. . It puts a lot of stress on the chest muscles to do the entire sequence so I alter it. Eventually I will do it. This workout really did give me some soreness in the ab and oblique area. I rarely have soreness.

Lori, I would love to have the Instapot. How do you get Amazon Points? Amazon has their exclusive Instapot there that is the lower cost one. That is the one the last two Christmas seasons that were on Amazon Black Friday Deals and it dropped to 59 dollars. The Bluetooth one would be awesome and yes $179 is a lot to pay. I would imagine that you would only monitor it if you were using the slow cooker feature? The pressure cooker would be fast and I doubt you would monitor steaming. I like that it has the different foods. I had wondered if it would do well for crock pot oats and quinoa dishes on the grains setting. I have found my regular crock pot always overcooks those items. I need a new crockpot so this is what I ant to get. My Amazon wish list keeps growing. My husband sends me flowers and things all year long and likes to have special date nights so we both just agreed that we didn't care about the official day. It doesn't bother me in the least. When the grandchildren were all at my house all of the time I would bake up special things, get valentines, and make up goodie packets. Then valentine crafts. Most are too old for that and the little ones all do their stuff at school or my daughter's daycare.

Good morning,

No workout yesterday, still not into it. Not sure why, but I just seem to be dreading it for some reason.

Diane Sue, that pot sounds interesting...John and I never go out for Valentines day either. Have you read the Reacher books? That cake sounds great! John brought roses home yesterday for me for V-Day...he always gets flowers for me during the week, even if just the ones in the supermarket. His father did that all the time for his Mom...he liked that and continued it with me. :).

Valerie, I have a really old crock pot too, and find it is pretty good with the timing and not getting things done too soon. That was a good price for the iPad screen repair, beats a new one's high price.

Lori, I hope your weather is not too bad today, but a Monday off would be nice right? Great that Gigi likes to retrieve. It can be a good exercise to get them tired out. Remember "A Tired Dog is a Good Dog" LOL.

Not sure what is up for today, I may meet my cousin at the place where she is working now. Her brother (also my cousin!) has just rented some space for his security company, and she is now a partner with him. No more real estate work for me :(.

Take care,

Good Morning,
I never got to check in yesterday, but glad that everyone is doing well. Today's workout was Party Rocking Step 2. I like this one better than PRS 1 and the music is so motivating.

We never go out for Valentines but my husband usually gives me roses. He is very thoughtful with things like that. He wants to grill steaks and I will probably make him something chocolate because he loves it so much. We are pretty low key.

I have two slow cookers one of which is over 20 years old. The newer one is programmable and works wonderfully. I use it more when my family is here and I am cooking for a larger group. The food definitely tastes better if you brown the meat first or sauté the vegetables before adding it all in. I also have a pressure cooker that I bought a few years ago. I used both more when I was still working.

Susan Chung certainly has impressive credentials. I am looking forward to trying her dvds.

finally my weight dropped a little. I was way under points several days this week but I didn't do as much exercise as usual either. down 2.2 after sitting at exactly the same spot for weeks and weeks. my intent was to go under 30 points and see if I could jolt my sluggish metabolism into getting into weight loss mode. maybe I finally did it.

we don't go out for valentines day either. lunch out one day this week already. way too easy to get a huge calorie hit. DH gets me flowers. we want to do a road ride today but it froze last night and was frosty/ icy this morning, plus I had a dental cleaning. will give it a try after lunch.

the new bed passed the sleep test last night. I had a bad night but not fault of the bed, which was quite comfortable and not too warm.

I go in streaks with the slow cooker but haven't used it all year so far. I am doing more oven roasted things for calorie control. Portion control is easier. Never did a workout yesterday. Funny you should mention cheesecake. I haven't made one in years but in my big recipe sorting operation, I came across some old favorites. most were from the low fat craze and were not that high in calories. need to plug in the numbers on WW and see if any are decent on points. I used to make them often because they adapted to low fat so easily.

diane sue, that push up move starting with arm behind the back .... I watched and did a few . the other two moves where she is leaning on one arm are the ones I skipped so far. One I can do if I slow them down but the other looks risky to me. I am still doing mostly knee pushups although doing a few toe ones now. I do bigger number though.

Deb you should do something short and not difficult just to do "something". I find that the dread factor builds up for me more if I stay away too long, and even an easy workout erases it.

Today I did Susan Chung's Rapid Fire Rock Steady Rock Hard with the bonus heavy bag, 80 minutes, 601 calories. Some of my devices had this higher and of course for kickboxing in the workout manager it is a 10 on the met score. I took it down to a 7 and it still gave me 618. Map My Fitness was closer to 800. Much like Cathe's would have been. I never take those higher readings. I went by the lower ones and heartrate based reading along with what it has been in the past with my Polar devices. I know the measurements the Fit Bit give are off because using the algorithms uses more of the stride length and arm swings, so if you are doing something that does not have that the reading is much lower. I then did Ice Muscle Meltdown Triceps, 16 minutes, 77 calories. I used 12's for this this time. Total time was 94 minutes and calories burned was 678. I had to run out to Walmart and the bank. I needed a cake box and some more decorating stuff. Otherwise I would have went somewhere else. I still need to hit Sprouts but think I will save it till after I go to the doctor tomorrow morning. I get to go back and have them check out that free botox they did. It did absolutely nothing for me. I can wrinkle my frowny lines just fine. I am glad I wasn't really that in to doing it. I feel I wasted my time and I wouldn't pay for it.
When I wore my boxing gloves I took an ink pen and clipped it onto my watch band to hold the gloves away from my watch. Only thing was I dug up the back of my hand. So much for that idea. I was thinking if I had a thick bead bracelet or something that would hold the glove off of the face of the watch it might work.

Deb, I have not read the Reacher boks. That is nice that John brings you flowers. I always feel kind of sad when the flowers die. I try to hang on to them till they look really pathetic. Gertie likes to retrieve and it sure helps keep her exercised when stuck indoors. My husband was upstairs yesterday tossing the ball down stairs so she would run down and bring it back. I read that another way to exercise your dog is with a doggie back pack with some light weight in it and to get them to go up and down the stairs. I suppose it would either tire them or give you a really strong dog.

Carolyn, Party Rockin Step 2 is my favorite. It is my go to workout when I just want something pleasant with some fun music. I have a small slow cooker that I bought for when I am making something for just myself. Funny thing is that my Dad had so many slow cookers in his basement. None of us wanted them. I probably should have taken one. Most were mid range in size. I think that I have one of the largest ones there is with the stoneware insert. Maybe they would have heated differently. I think they often got gifts for things that they already had. I had sent him a coffee grinder and southern pecan coffee beans for a birthday along with the music. Come to find out he already had a coffee grinder. I thought it would be something he would like. He did use the new one though.

Valerie, yeah on the new mattress being comfortable. Also on the weight loss. I lost 7 lbs while I had this last virus but it is trying to creep back on. Not too terrible of a thing for me. I do think it could stop now though. Everything just did not taste good to me and I was drinking loads of water rather than eating. They say a fasting day can help jump start the fat loss. I can go for about half a day, but if I went all day I would not be someone that my husband wanted to live with. I get grumpy. I think I am getting y appetite back for simpler foods like veggies and some meat and poultry sides. Fish has been on my no list lately. Last night I did a recipe from Performance Paleo where you stem the Brussels sprouts. Then you sate them in avocado oil and add some garlic and sundried tomatoes with salt and pepper. It was really good. I went back for seconds and had a bit of leftover chicken that was in the refrigerator that I tossed into it. The recipe did not call for the chicken.
Maybe I will eventually do the whole S&S ab workout. I just do not want a set back with the shoulder and some of those balances really do tax the chest muscles. I am taking it slow.

I forgot to mention that the Rock Steady Rock Hard heavy bag segment is a favorite of mine. The last part has you on your hands and knees doing kicks on the bag along with hydrants and side kicks. By the time you are done your legs feel it. Her gloves had open fingers on this one. Bag gloves is what I think that she called them.

Good evening ladies!

This morning I wanted something a little tougher than what the rotation called for so I subbed in a couple lower body band workouts. One was a SB the other was a firewalker workout I made up a while back. Cathe's Flex Train segment with the firewalkers and the firewalker segment of Lean Legs and Abs. I use my blue band on this one and oh my do I feel the burn! I then did a quick 10 min jump afterwards to loosen things a bit. I had my apple watch on but forgot to hit start to record my workout. Hate when I do that!!!

Deb...I agree with Valerie. Do something small to get back onto things. For the ladies at work we started with just 10 min workouts and we have continued with them about 2 to 3 times a week. Not much but it is something. Jessica Smith has a few on Youtube that are great. Office was open today. Delayed an hour. I called my boss and pretty much said that is not going to work for me. We get a lot more snow where I live versus where the office is. I am only 50 minutes but up by the mountains. I could not leave until the plows came. My husband thinks we received about 18 inches this weekend on top of all the snow from Thursday. We are ready for Spring!!

Diane Sue..cheesecake is a favorite of mine. I do not make it very often because I will eat it all. Hard to stop myself! I tie my Amex points to amazon. My amex is my company amex and as long as I pay the $90 annual fee to amex to allow points then my company will allow me to keep all the points I earn. This is a great deal for me as I average $50 to $75 a month to spend on Amazon. I consider this my free money and usually buy workout stuff or beauty related..vit C, essential oils, etc. I never have a problem spending it. That sounds like an awesome heavybag workout.

Valerie...yeah on the weight loss! I do all my pushups on my knees and elevated on a 4 inch platform and that works for me. Great the mattress passed the test!!!

Carolyn/Valerie..do either of you have any WW crockpot recipes? I am going to google some but always nice if you know someone that has made and liked a recipe.

Have a great night all!

Lori, there was a recipe in the WW weekly before Christmas that I have made a few times. It is slow cooker chicken tikka masala. It is delicious. The recipes calls for boneless chicken thighs but I prefer the bone in. The recipe is available on WW site and it also comes up on the app when you enter name.

Good morning,

Having computer issues so may be very short in posting....

Carolyn, that recipe sounds delicious...love Indian food!

Valerie, I agree...should start with something short...just not even ready for that yet. Glad you like the new mattress.

Diane Sue, the Reacher books are good...read in order if you decide to try them. Maybe something your husband may enjoy. They are available in the library.

Lori, good that you were able to stay home yesterday!

On the phone with HP again this morning....sometimes I just hate technology!

Take care

Lori I don't have anything specifically for a crock pot that I would make again. Go with Carolyn's recommendation. Carolyn I love tikka masala. Will try it. But need to make DH something else. Indian food is on the heartburn list for him

Did a 2 hr ride yesterday later. They are repairing some trail sections so we will need to do some work around until they are done. It cut into the distance with awkward detours around torn up parts
We're going to try a ski or snowshoe today

Deb get out a disk .... some workout with with zero dread factor and do something for 15 minutes allowing you to quit then if it feels too much or continue if it feels good.

Today I had my doctor appointment so I just did Strong and Sweaty Total Body Giant Sets Lower Body mix #1, 33 minutes, 198 cal0ries. It is tempting to go do some upper body work. I guess I will see. I should do clean max today. I went to Sprouts after my appointment. They had the Ancient Nutrition Bone Broth Protein that Dr Axe sells for 38 dollars and a 2 dollar off coupon. I thought it would be a good way to try it. And it is supposed to be healing. It does not smell very good but by the time I added some dark chocolate and a bit of honey to it, it was okay. The color is a bit odd. I got the vanilla flavored.
I made sure my husband took that cheesecake I made and decorated to work. I did not want it left here. This is my favorite cheese cake recipe. Even the icing I decorated with is just melted semi sweet chocolate and sour cream. I made a windmill shape with chocolate that I had melted and cut into triangles and put roses in between on top of it.
I did not buy many veggies because I acorn squash , kale, and cauliflower that I need to cook and use. I have a soup I have been wanting to make that has Italian turkey sausage and kale in it that I think I am going to make.

Lori, nice lower body workout. I use my blue firewalker band a lot more than my others. My medium green one broke and I have a pack of Athletic bands that has one that is about the same as the green and an extra strong one that is really tough. But, I still have the blue and pink Cathe ones. It is funny how you can not be so far away but locations can make a difference in weather. Here, a few miles can mean a couple of degree temperature difference so a place 15 miles away may have ice on the roads where the other doesn't. When we were 100 miles away we would have snow and they would have sleet here in the Oklahoma City area. 100 miles is quite a distance though.
Okay, I understand on the points now. I didn't know you could use credit card points on Amazon. I think one of our cards has about 60000 points on it. My husband carries it. He looked once at the purchases they showed online that he could get and didn't want anything. They just sit there. My daughter and her family used there card exclusively the last couple of years to get Disney points for their vacation that they are on right now. Having your work let you use the points is great. It seems that you might find some Weight Watchers crockpot recipes on Pinterest or I think that Beach Body and their 21 Day Fix measurement containers recipes sometimes have weight watchers points on them. I have picked up recipes off of their blog that used the containers and had all of the nutrition information there.

Deb, I hope that you get your computer problems worked out. I will read the books in order if I check them out. It might explain the almost a daughter thing in this movie as I don't remember the other movie. I thought the movie was good though. Do you have a favorite workout that might encourage you to want to workout or are you still not feeling well?

Valerie, I can understand your husband and the Indian dishes. I love curry but it is not the best thing for me before I go to bed at night. Have fun snow shoeing or skiing today.

Today was Push Pull, a short total body workout. It is a 44 minute workout but I took a little longer because I pause to record my weights or change equipment.

Valerie, there is a very similar recipe for slow cooker tikka masala in the January 2016 Cooking Light magazine. The WW version does not use coconut milk and of course the smart points are provided. It's not a spicy dish.

I have read most of the Jack Reacher books but I haven't seen the movies. Tom Cruise just didn't fit my mental picture of Jack Reacher :). My husband loves the books.

Lori, I didn't know about using credit card points on Amazon.

Carolyn, it always takes me longer when I write the weights down. I don't know why you get work sheets and then there is no time to write it down without pausing. On Giant sets it is a little less time consuming as long as I stick with the same weights thr

Good evening ladies!

This morning was SB Upper Body 7. I then did her BarreAmped Bounce Arms and Abs from her dvd then followed that up with Bis and Tris. My arms were thoroughly worked when I finished. All this was only 36 minutes once I cut some of the stretching. I then did one of her streaming bounce workouts (18mins) but did not do the barre sections. I just continued to bounce doing a similar move to what she was doing with barre. Not sure if this makes sense. I did not want to work my legs other than a nice not crazy bounce routine. I thought this Detox rotation was an 8 week rotation but is discovered Sunday it is 12 so I am really happy about this!

Carolyn...thanks for the mention of that recipe. Going to check it out. Amazon does not accept all Credit Card points. Only a select few. Amex is one of them. I think Chase is another. Not sure of the others. I have bought some nice things because of these points. One of the items was my Spin Bike. The only fitness equipment I bought and really do not use. Going to try and work it into my rotation here and there. I hate wasting money. All my fitness dvd's I buy on amazon are usually thru my points too. Push Pull is a great workout.

Deb...hoping you have resolved your computer issues. I hear you about technology. It can be so fustrating. I unfortunately did go into work yesterday once the plows cleared the way. :(. I have not read the Reacher books either. They are on my list.

Valerie...love that you snowshoe! No one does that around here. Such a workout!

Diane Sue..your cheesecake sounds amazing!!! I do not blame you for getting it out of the house. I swear by the end of my workout with the blue loops I am begging for it to end. Really gets you deep in the thighs and glutes and I love it. 60000 is a lot of points. Would be nice if it is one of the cards you can use Amazon Points. I never have a problem finding stuff to spend them on!

Have a great night all!

our ski /snowshoe trip didn't work. we came home and went mt biking instead. way too icy and could not get up a high enough to decent snow. there are other options but didn't want to drive that far. so we rode the tree farm for 2 hours, about 7 miles. some serious hills so a grunt up.
Carolyn the tikka masala recipe slow cooker sounds good. there's a second WW one there that sounds better to me but is 9 points. some of those pre cooked sauces like Maya Kamail, are listed too and they are fairly low in points. I was surprised. I would make mine spicy... here come the red pepper flakes!

Lori I am a food texture person too. funny, because raisins are one thing I'm fussy about too. also have issues with hard boiled eggs, runny eggs, and meat in general. I have trouble eating chicken parts that aren't bl /sl breast. the dark meat seems slimy to me and I have to hide it in things like chopped up in soup.

Lori, nice workout today. I love this cheesecake. It would not last long in our house. My husband and I would have it gone in no time. Next up is German Chocolate cake for his Birthday this month. I usually have to make a second dessert because some family members do not like coconut. Our points would probably not work because it is a Visa .

Valerie, I always add extra red pepper flakes to recipes. The soup I made today was really good and I made my own ground turkey Italian sausage for it so that I could use lean white turkey meat. I made to save it in my Pinterest account. It has lots of cauliflower and kale in it with the ground Italian sausage. It called for half a cup of cream added at the end and I used about an 1/8 half and half and 1/8 coconut milk. There was red pepper flakes added to it and red peppers in the Italian sausage seasoning. I did extra on both. I always switch up recipes that call for chicken thighs and use chicken breast. I just can not like the thighs. I have tried the organic farm raised chicken thighs and different brands. I do not like them. I find myself wanting to dig them out of the dish. A lot of Paleo recipes call for them too.
