Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 12/9

This morning I did Coffey Fit Raw Compound Moves, 31 minutes, heart rate average 105, max 146, met 4.1 140 calories, 809 steps, using 10# dumbbells. I then did Raw Intervals # 4 using 15# dumbbells for everything except the overhead press moves which I switched to 10's for. This was 41 minutes, heart rate average 127, max 175, met 5.9, 267 calories, 2,485 steps. I finished off with Les Mills Body flow 19 minutes of #72, met 2.0, 42 calories. Total time 72 minutes, 449 calories. I have to go out on errands so will come back and read posts in awhile.

Lori, nice job on the workouts. I have just been coming up with my workouts in the mornings based on how I feel and whether it is a cardio focus day or strength. Too many things to throw things off around here lately. I have enjoyed the Les Mills streaming.
Funny about the memory foam and forming a canoe :) I did get my one piece of mail that today that was missing. In fact I got a whole pile of mail which was mostly junk. That is because I did not bother going out yesterday since I knew it was junk and it was cold, windy, and rainy. Yes, it is nice that they even show the packages that come from Amazon.

Valerie, if you look at Cathe when she does that move on S&S she changes her leg placement on the second round. She bends her knee in further on the leg that is on the floor. I kept watching her and feeling for a comfortable position and finally got it. The way she starts off is uncomfortable. I don't mind jacks and snow angels as long as my feet do not go out too wide and land that way. It hurts my knees.

Deb, I am so sorry that Ike has a uti again. I hope there can be a way to work out a solution for it. I get emails and texts for my packages as well as not checking my mail. It comes in handy for me, knowing when to expect things and to get them. The library by me is the newer one. It is interesting, because they roll out carts with the books already sorted out for an area and then the workers are reshelving them. They have an area where we can just go in and pick up our holds ourselves. We check out ourselves with our cards and scanners. Everything is pretty much automated, unless you need help with something. Their are meeting rooms, booths, and media areas. There is a childrens computer area and play areas as well as a patio area that you can sit outside with the children or by yourself if you want. It is really nice.
I think Gertie, must have injured herself or something. She acts like she wants to play, but it a bit apprehensive about the stairs. She will make one run and then just leave the toy. I had to coax her up yesterday and she was slow. I told my husband she was not wanting to lay on the one side facing me to file her claws. She tried to face away. I worked with her and felt around. I am betting she pulled something. While I was filing her nails she kept licking her other leg instead of lying with her head down relaxed.

Carolyn, nice calorie burn for chiseled upper body.

Good morning,

No exercises yesterday.

Judy, thanks, I am getting to a point where I am going to start being nasty to them. I really have a lot of confidence in this vet, but it seems he is grasping at straws with this issue. He admitted that he has never had this situation not clear up after 2 rounds of antibiotics.

Valerie, yes, agree on current situation with bacteria. I have had many UTI's and most Dr's won't prescribe until there has been a culture done, so that they are not guessing as to what antibiotic to use. That was how I got C-Diff the first time. After 4 antibiotics. :(. John is EXACTLY the same about his phone as your DH...He has a fancy iPhone, never turns it on, does not give the number to anyone, and he has no idea how to use it. All I have to suggest is that he put an ap on it, and he goes ballistic. Very strange that they are both like that. We have a mail slot that drops the mail right into the front hall/boot room. Unless I would be doing it from another location, signing on to the computer, and pulling up an email would be harder than opening the door and picking it up. LOL :). I gave up on any side planks.

Diane Sue, I hope Gertie is ok. It does sound like she pulled a muscle or something like that. yes, we have the same with books that are being held for us. We pick them up and can do self-checkout any time with just our library card. The $$ owed is just added to your account, and you have to eventually go to the counter to pay it. Same with the play area and computers for kids.

Carolyn, I do the same thing with workouts, there are some older Cathe ones that I don't think I ever did the full workouts, as is. I think Bootcamp is one of them.

Hi to Lori,

Take care,

Deb a lot of people would get angry at paying for extra tests if they did a “culture and sensitivity” routinely. It takes several days to do it too, so usually the doc would start standard antibiotic treatment regardless, and only change treatment if something unusual showed up in the culture or if treatment didn’t work. Most of the time you would be paying for lab tests that would not change the course of treatment, and a lot of people would get angry. Lab tests are expensive but after two courses of antibiotics it’s time to look closer. even with people, I'm not sure everyone gets a C&S unless there is a suspicion its going to be harder to cure than usual.
Yes I would like to rip DH ‘s hair out some days!! ( in fact, it looks like it happened already) We have had DOZENS of situations where knowing what was in the mail would have been very useful. packages alone would be worth it. should we close the gate or leave it open?
His phone just sits there turned off. Why use it when he can nag me about mine? I thought if he had a decent phone he would use it... but no. We never use a fraction of the data we pay for. he is constantly poking at mine, complaining about my not deleting things or programs running. Half the time I have not even SEEN what he is yelling about.... cleaning out inbox /texts. We don’t get a lot of calls so I keep some old call records for a few months. It’s a easy reference for when you last talked to someone and their number, especially one time contractors or businesses.
If this mail service is not helpful, I will cancel but won't know if I don’t try it .
I did ICE boot camp yesterday. Not enough room to have all that going at once. inefficient, order doesn’t work for me. I don't like the mat, step, and weights all out at once especially if I need to constantly change step height. if it's in sequence but not to have it all in middle of the room used over and over.

This morning I did Les Mills On Demand Body Combat # 68, 64 minutes( actual less as I started a few moves from another and switched and a run down stairs twice for Gertie) heart rate average 125, max 158, met 6.0 424 calories(I used Map My Fitness Setting for Body Combat and it says 505) 5,294 steps. I then did Les Mills CWORX # 28, 15 minutes, heart rate average 97, max 113, met 3.1, 51 calories, 68 steps. This had bear crawls and weighted side planks along with holds. I used 10 and 5# weight plate. Total time was 79 minutes, 475 calories, 5,992 steps.

Deb, I kept trying to gently move her legs around a bit this morning when filing and I made sure I was on the side for her that seemed most comfortable. She seems to have a desire to play, but it does not last long. She almost missed a step this morning coming up the stairs as he leg slipped which I thought was odd. I she is moving more though. She is due to see the vet for shots and stuff this next month. I have to go in and pick up more heart guard. For fines at our library, we pay with the machines at the library. I have only had a couple and that was due to grandchildren missing a book once and one time the library messed up and did not send me an advance coming due warning in my email. We got that fixed by changing which e mail address they used. Everything is pretty much automated unless you need to get something fixed.

Valerie, my husband does not use all of the features that I do or have hardly any apps on his cell phone. He keeps it with him most of the time though. I have had a few times when I needed to reach him when he was at home and I was out and he had forgotten to take it off the charger in the bedroom. Just an oversight though. That is when a land line is good.

This morning I did ICE Chiseled Lower Body Blast, which was 48 minutes and 308 calories burned. My average heart rate was 126 and maximum heart rate was 153.

Valerie, ICE Bootcamp does have a variety of moves. I don’t mind it so much, but I don’t choose it as frequently as some of the others. Your discussion about your husband and his phone has a familiar ring. My husband has gotten better with his, but we went through the same thing. When I was working and needed to get in touch it was very frustrating because he never had his phone with him. He insisted that he needed his own computer about three years ago and I got him a laptop for Christmas that year. He never uses the thing!

Deb, I have only done Cathe’s original Bootcamp a few times. It’s not one of my favorites with so much going on and a lot of running around. I don’t mind the ICE Bootcamp workout. It seems less frantic to me and better organized compared to the original.

Diane Sue, nice job with the Les Mills workouts today. Your library sounds like it is much more advanced than ours. Many things are computerized now, but not to that degree.

Hello to Lori and Judy.

So all men went to the same school to learn how to annoy their wives using electronics! all graduated with honors! I said... before we bought the 2nd phone …. he would have to carry his own phone, didn't want to have 2 phones all the time. so he solved that problem ….by leaving his phone on his desk. if he goes somewhere by himself, then he takes it along.

I don't like the cycles of bootcamp workouts. Not sure if I have the original one.... don't think so. I don't have enough open floor space, get tired of moving mat and step out of the way, and then dragging them back again for each cycle. too many things to rotate thru. If the abs were separated to the end of the workout, , I'd like it better. I should look and see if there is a premix tin there that meets my (fussy) needs.

Diane sue I hope your doggie is OK. I don't remember how old she is? when our dog got older he started having compression of his spinal cord toward his rear quarters. his back foot started dragging and missing steps.
I won't give up my landline. when I need to order for my sister, it is millions of x easier with a decent size phone that I don't have to worry about bumping buttons accidentally. shopping on amazon and filling out an order is so much better if I can hold the phone between ear and shoulder. I don't want to carry cell around all the time in the house. the landline has 5 handpieces scattered, easier, and the answering machine works better than voice mail. .

we did a road ride this morning 15 miles. 43 degrees and windy. not real pleasant. we had a windstorm late yesterday and there was tons of debris ….. branches, leaves, cones, all over the trail. going to be wet and stormy for a while though, so this was the best opportunity.

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I did X10, Low Impact and Fat Burning Circuits and Muscle Meltdown Triceps. Today I took a rest day.
Deb- Hopefully Ike will have a quick recovery from the UTI once he gets the correct antibiotic.

Diane Sue-Great workouts! I hope Gertie is ok.

Carolyn-I agree about the original Boot Camp. It isn't a favorite of mine either. I like the ICE and S & S Boot Camps better.

Lori-Part of the Slo Mo workout is on YouTube:
Chris found a used DVD for me on eBay. The workout is 10 years old and I don't think there are any new DVDs available, at least I couldn't find any.

Valerie-Chris has to use his iPhone for work otherwise I don't think he would carry it with him at all. He swore he would never get a smart phone but he didn't have a choice. He does like it now that he has it.
