Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 11/19

another spin today, pedal power premix for 40 min then icy core from the ICE series, and muscle meltdown, triceps. about an hour 15 total.

it was an Ina Garten recipe, "Chipotle and Rosemary Roasted nuts". so good!. she toned down the chipotle powder by about half, due to the men... delicate flowers that they are.... not wanting it too hot. us ladies are the ones who like the heat.

Good morning,

No workout yesterday. John and I both got Fitbits yesterday....early Christmas presents. I want to track steps and sleeping.

Diane Sue, I hope you feel better.

Carolyn, sorry about the headache, glad it is better. Maybe from stress? I know that I try to think everything is running smoothly, but when you are preparing for something like Thanksgiving, there is stress there, even if you don't think there is. Funny about your daughters and the JumpSport.

Valerie, great combo of workouts. Those nuts sound good. I like chipotle, but not in great quantities.

Hi to Judy, & Lori,

Take care,

Good morning ladies!

We are back. Arrived home about 8:30pm. Our flights changed a bit but other than that our travels were uneventful. Busy day today. Errands, laundry and making our Thanksgiving dinner with my son today so it is a busy day. Going to try and fit in a quick workout. Perhaps when the turkey is in the oven!

I will come back later today to ready everyone’s posts.

Have a great day...it is so cold here! I like Florida temps better! :)

Today I did PHA Training from Strong and Sweaty. My time was 58 minutes with 242 calories burned. Average heart rate was 110 and maximum heart rate 144.

I am having a slow relaxing day after the frenzy of the past few days. Both daughters leave this afternoon. Two of my husband’s family members stopped by for a while yesterday which was nice, but now we can get back to normal.

Deb, which Fitbit did you choose? It is funny that my daughters completely reversed their opinions on rebounding.

Lori, welcome home. Enjoy Thanksgiving number 2 with your son.

Valerie, that sounds like a good recipe for the nuts. I would probably eat too many of them!

Diane Sue, I hope you are feeling better.

Valerie, that recipe sounds good. Pedal Power is my favorite of Cathe's Spin workouts. It usually ends up being the choice when I want one.

Deb, I think that you will enjoy your Fit Bits. I like tracking everything. It sure sheds some light on sleep patterns and how you feel during the day.

Lori, we have been having some beautiful around 70 degree days here. We even had one day that was a record over 80. I am glad that you made it back without much event. Laundry and stuff is always the not so fun part after a trip. Enjoy your dinner todaya :)

Carolyn, having a relaxing day after all of the guests and preparation for the big day sounds like a good idea.

Making turkey soup this morning. like it better than the turkey itself, and it's WW friendly.

we haven't finished our left over nuts yet. they keep well in a glass jar. they are "candied" but not too sweet, & are crisp and crunchy. Luckily, we did not have many left because I could do serious, fatal damage with these. they are really good. I would NEVER make this for us alone, only if we have guests. they were so nice on a snack plate before dinner scattered around the cheese, crackers, and fruit. It's from the How Easy is That?" book. I have several of Ina's books but can't say I've made much from it since her things are often over the top in calories and portions are huge. they were a $1 each at a book sale so I bought 2 because I can make her things if I modify.

Pedal Power has the count down timer. I really like that feature and miss it when it's not there. I can push myself much harder if I can see how long is left. If time is without limits, I tend to hold back and conserve a little.

same here Deb, which Fitbit did you get? I know Costco had them on special but I don't remember which one. cousin bought a new one because of the great price and with an extra strap included.

Did Pedal power again today, Saturday. 40 min premix. then icy core, Muscle Meltdown biceps, and 50 knee pushups. about 1 hr 15.
