Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 10/29

Today I did a 30 Minute JS HiiT Walk from the 30 Day Program. It was 227 calories burned, 135 average heart rate and 168 maximum heart rate. I followed that with Travis Eliot’s Flexibility Yoga from the Ultimate Yogi. I only did half of the yoga practice for 29 minutes and 93 calories. Average heart rate was 106 and maximum heart rate 140. This practice has a very dynamic warmup before moving to poses that you hold for a longer time. Some of the poses are too advanced for me, but I can do the modifications.

We have so many pictures in albums and I miss that now with the digital photos. I know that you can print them or have them made into albums, but we haven’t done that. I guess that will be a future project :).

My dad died in 1996 and I have adjusted to that, but my mother just passed away two years ago. I still miss her so much and I sometimes reach for the phone to call and share something with her.

Lori, I previewed most of the SB Bounce dvd yesterday and I am so excited to try it. I’m glad that she shows two levels, which gives me confidence that I can do it.

Diane Sue, I don’t think that the UPS tracking is right. We have also had packages just show up in spite of what the tracking indicates.

Valerie, I felt the same as your husband about keeping my current physicians when I retired and started Medicare. I have gone through so much with my Breast surgeon and Oncologist that I was not going to change.

Judy, you did two of the workouts that I avoid—Tabatacise and To the Mat. I don’t care for either very much, but I don’t have a reason for feeling that way.

Hello to Deb.

Good afternoon ladies!

This morning I did FT Legs and Glutes. Hard to believe I am half way thru this 30 day rotation already! I like having cardio of choice, mixes things up for me. I then did the 3 bounce portions of the new BBS Trampoline Cardio dvd and I loved it. It has mixed reviews over on VF but I am used to her style from her steaming and other DVD’s and did not find it hard to follow at all. I enjoyed and and can’t wait to be doing this again. I also took GiGi for a 2.5 mile walk. She went swimming and had a ball. Was fun to watch as she was just so excited and happy! This afternoon we did our 6 mile bike ride. So beautiful here today.

Deb...my father was a very young man at 33 years old when he passed. It was especially hard on us when our mom passed at 61. She had become our rock. I agree with you with pictures on eveyone’s phones. Last time I went to mexico I did not even bring a camera! I do however, transfer my photos from my phone to a disc and file away.

Judy...nice workouts. I loved Tabatacise! Been agaes since I have done this one. Imthink when Diane Sue did it a while ago I thought I would pull it out but never did. Enjoy your day in Ann Arbor.

Diane Sue...that is awesome your husband set up that private FB. My cousins converted a bunch of old family videos (when my dad was still alive) and sent me a few dvds of all the different clips. I had fun pulling them off and making little videos with it. One of the dics had video of my parents wedding. I cried when I saw it as I never knew it existed. I pulled this off, added in some photos and added in a Christina Aguilera love song. It was beautiful.

Valerie...holy crap!! $7,000!!! That is insane. Wow. My family is not close at all either. At times I wish we were but I seem to be the black sheep of the family. I have always gave gave gave to my brothers but when I stopped I guess that was it. Whatever, their loss!

Edited to reply to Carolyn....

Glad you will like the SB DVD. I find with her workouts you can make as easy or as hard as you want. I usually follow Jessie but will take it easier at times. My Dad passed in 1965. And I know what you mean about wanting to call your mom. I felt this way for the longest time. :(

Have a great evening ladies!

Carolyn, I still miss my mother after all of these years. I know she would have really enjoyed my grandchildren. I mentioned this to my aunt when she was visiting (her sister) and my daughter was in tears just with us talking about it. I feel the same with my Dad. It has been a little over 4 years and I just have a hard time with not being able to just call him and get his feedback on things. I felt so terrible when he fell an hit his head because he was dizzy and sick. He had called me that night and I had left my cell phone upstairs. That is one of the draw backs of cell phones. You practically need to have them glued to you if they are your only phone. I kept trying to call him back and did not get an answer. Then I called my brother. I just wish someone, namely his son in law that came to spend the night, would have insisted he go in and get checked out. My Dad said he was okay and it wasn't till the next day that he took him in and called my brother who was an hour and a half away. He was 7 hours from me. I can't go back and it may have not helped. His blood was too thin from the blood thinners etc.. They couldn't operate right away. I called and was reassured about keeping my doctors with the Medicare etc...

Lori, you are so creative with your technology. My husband does pretty well with that stuff. He had such a good presentation he for a meeting put together on his lap top. When he took it to our church to give it though his laptop would not let him pull it up. I had to take him a thumb drive from the house and it lacked how well he had it all put together. He was pretty frustrated. He called me to get his microsoft password and it still wouldn't work. He came home and it worked fine. You would not think that you would need internet to use a downloaded program. I always follow Jessie on the Bounce workout. I like the word bounce better than tramp or trampoline workout :)

We don't know all the details yet of what is covered under "preventive" care. His annual exam is included, and probably flu shots maybe a few other small things. not even sure if they pay for routine labs for the physical. I don't count on anything these days. they only list a few things that are not covered like bariatric surgery, cosmetic surgery etc. I hate to see people delaying important screening ( like colonoscopies) because they are afraid they will have to pay for it.

I have a set of lenox china stone I've had for almost 30 yrs. I bought it for myself. we have a small extended family widely spread out. so even for holidays I use real plates and glasses. I just want dishwasher safe. 6 people would be a big group for us.
