Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 10/22

I took off bandages and rinsed off in the shower. It felt GREAT. The incision is bigger than I thought. It is about 4 inches long on the side of my leg two inches above the knee, horizontal, and toward the back. It did not swell, barely bled and looks very smooth and normal except for the stitch line. Won’t be obvious when healed not that a little scar would be a big deal. Thought it would look traumatized but it look good, more like I thought it would look in two weeks.
We will do a garden day tomorrow and grocery shopping. I managed to get this done in a really lovely stretch of fall weather but had to schedule three weeks ahead so bad luck . if it weren’t for the deep stitches, I would dive right back in. Will walk on treadmill also a upper body workout and core

Good morning,

No workout yesterday. My friend woke up with an issue with her legs, so she had to go in to see the doctors. It looks like a skin infection. She can't seem to get a break at all. Now because of this, her radiation is delayed a few days.

Carolyn, you are heading into the Home Stretch with STS! Any plans for what you will do afterwards?

Valerie, I bet you couldn't wait for that shower! Good idea to hold off on any strenuous leg exercises right now.

Lori, FT Total Body is my favorite of the 3 as well. I have not had those out in a while. Would like to see a picture of the Jumpsport....Still can't picture how it can be used with the FT.

Diane Sue, that sounds like a really nice event at the school. I can't believe how they are messing around with your car and not fixing it! I once had an issue with a Mazda I owned....it was one of the first ones, actually a rotary engine one, and the transmission gears kept going. They wanted to blame my boyfriend at the time, saying he must have been racing it around and stripping the gears! He was not. Finally, they got a factory rep in to look at it, and he was so nice, told them to just replace the whole transmission! They did and it never happened again.

Hi to Judy!

Agility class this morning, then running to the vet for a script refill for Keegan's allergy meds...

Take care,

Today is a rest day for me. I spent the morning at the hair salon and saw a few old friends while I was there. We have all been going to her for so many years that it is like a social get together sometimes.

Deb, I have two more weeks of STS. I haven’t decided what I will do after that. I miss some of the metabolic workouts so I will probably do something that includes a few ICE and Strong and Sweaty workouts with other things mixed in.

Valerie, I bet that shower felt wonderful. It sounds like the procedure went as it should and you are recovering well.

Diane Sue, I’m not sure that I could be as patient as you with the car issues. Good idea to let your husband deal with the dealership for a while.

Lori, I am pleased with my the results that I am getting with STS. My upper body is much stronger. I found that I was not really challenging myself enough and had settled into a pattern of choosing the same weights for my routines.

Hi Judy. Hope all is well.

This mornings workout was Kelly Coffey Cardio Kick Stepboxing, 470 calories, 71 minutes, heart rate 137 average, 167 max, 5,891 steps. It is not often I get over 400 calories with the Fit Bit :D I then did Barre Amped Lower Body Stretch from Strength and Stretch, 19 minutes, 32 calories. 502 calories total, 90 minutes.

Valerie, I am sure it felt really good to get rid of the bandage. I have always felt the incisions looked much bigger than the looked after heeled. I have a scar that is more like a white line up the inside of my left knee where I had a ganglion cyst removed. It looked huge at first and was about 6 inches long. This is the same knee that later had the torn miniscus. My daughter always said to keep the incision gooped up with Bacitricin or Neosporin and it would heal smoother. It has always proved to be good advice. I think we all kind of know the feeling of really wanting to jump right back into things, but know we need to hold back a bit.

Deb, I am so sorry that your friend has to wait on her treatment. I am sure her immune system is really compromised right now.
If Lori doesn't post a picture, I will take one so you can see with my urban rebounder. That is just plain silly that they wanted to blame your boyfriend for the cars issue. We bought a Granada years ago when we were only married a few years. My husband was driving it down the freeway in California to work only two days afterward and the transmission came loose or something. It wasn't bolted in right? Anyway, they sent assistance and fixed it. There was not blaming someone else there. You would think the new cars would work right. I printed up those forum incidents for my husband. I went to the store this afternoon and took his car. I really did not want to have the anxiety of whether or not I was going to get my car started when I left the store.

Carolyn, it seems I usually am wanting to do something lighter and more active like the metabolic workouts when I am done with a heavy rotation. You can really improve strength levels with STS.

Hi Everyone,

Yesterday I did KCM Slim Sculpting Workout #2, and Jessica Smith Standing Abs and Healthy Back. This morning I did Yoga Max.

Deb-I'm really sorry about your friend. I hope the infection isn't too bad.

Carolyn-I really need to do another round of STS. Maybe I'll start one in January.

Valerie- We just ordered an inversion table from Costco. We'd been thinking about getting one for a while and I noticed a good deal on Costco's website.

Lori-I used 1 lb hand weights for the JS HiiT walk. I'll have to try the ankle weights the next time I do it. I bet it's a lot of fun doing it on the rebounder!

Diane Sue-Great job with the KCM workouts this week! I've been enjoying doing KCM and JS workouts. I hope your car issues get resolved soon. That would be very frustrating.

Have a good night,

Judy

Judy, that's great that you are getting an inversion table. I will enjoy seeing how you like it :) I could use some yoga tonight. For some reason my back and legs are really sore tonight. Since yesterday and today were cardio I have not clue why. I stretched legs this morning.

Diane Sue-I'm really happy about the inversion table! I can't wait to try it. I'm hoping it will help my back. I've been sore lately too. The yoga helped.
