Good morning,

No workout yesterday, I did do an agility class with Kylee.

Valerie, anytime your card is out of your sight, it can be compromised. They have these small scanners or something that they car run it through to get all the info. Restaurants are the worst places for this to happen.

Diane Sue, that is awful that they never called back, especially since it interrupted your workout. I did not preview the whole workout....it just seemed like an interesting concept. I would guess you or anyone could skip or substitute for moves that you know do not work for you.

Carolyn, that's too bad that your appointment made you have to skip your workout, then it didn't happen!

Hi to Judy & Lori.

Take care,

I can't be sure this restaurant is where it happened. haven't used a cash machine in ages. don't use it for gas. we looked at the recent transactions and restaurant seems most likely. I usually pay cash since it's about $15 for the 2 of us, but DH picked up the check this time. we were supposed to get our replacement cards yesterday but they didn't get here even though we were home and watched for someone.

I did a 40 min spin premix, then HR abs, and 3 sets of 20 pushups. both of us used the gym yesterday. I did a set of hamstring curls since I can work that area with the machine specifically. I used to do leg extensions on it but it makes my kneecaps track funny and I get sore so don't do those anymore. also don't want to activate bursitis that I got earlier this year. It faced the wrong direction and started to collect worksheets and binders on the seat but we fixed that and are motivated to use it again. I reorganized work out sheets in a hanging file by series, each in a page protector. I have a lot of things I never use anymore.

a week on WW done, and I lost 0.2 lbs. not exactly a rip roaring start. I am having much easier time tracking now, a total change from last year at this time. my goal is 10 so I am not that far from where I should be and loss will probably be slow.

DH saw a bobcat this morning when he went out to get the paper. sitting next to our house, watching him as he came down the driveway, then took off toward the neighbors. probably the same one we've seen before. they look like very big housecats with a stubby tail.

Carolyn that is a big annoyance. waste of gas and time.

Today I did Yoga Relax. Time was 52 minutes, 109 calories burned, average heart rate 91 and maximum heart rate 126. I felt really good after that.

Valerie it was a big waste of time yesterday and I was caught up it traffic detours because of a road race. I knew about the race but I had forgotten the date. It’s great that you are motivated to use your weight machine again. Your first week on WW sounds like it was successful. Your loss will probably be slower because you are close to your goal. My weight loss is always slow so 0.2 or 0.4 was my normal.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Last night I did Yoga Max, 48 minutes, 106 calories. I didn't realize how stiff and sore I was till I did this. Normally down dog, up dog is no problem, but my arms and shoulders were so sore and literally trembling. Once I got through a few minutes it got better. I need to do more yoga. This morning I did Kelly Coffey's TLC , Kelly's favorite mix, 38 minutes, 242 calories, heart rate 143 average, max 188. 2,982 steps. I am still wondering at the higher heart rate readings. I don't feel that I was working at 188 heart rate. I chose this Kelly mix because it mixes moves from both workouts and is about 10 minutes shorter than the one I started yesterday.

Deb, I think the workout would probably good for some. You are right, I could probably skip what I think would not be for me. Agility class is probably some workout anyway :)

Valerie, I recently pulled out my papers and notebooks and cleared a lot of stuff. My husband came upstairs to see where I had gone too since I was missing for so long. I had worksheets and notebooks from 10 years + years ago. I had one notebook that I had started with dividers and typed out pages of workouts, calorie burn averages, times, pre-mixes, and some of the exercises listed. This was before Cathe, and Kelly had all of this on their websites. Some of the workouts I no longer have and I just acquired so many I quit doing that. I would have multiple binders if I did that now. I used to do leg extensions a lot when we had our first weight machine and then when I got the Bowflex. I think there are safer exercises for the quads and knee areas though. In the meeting we went to they suggested that we go inside and pay for our gas when using a card. We go to 7 Eleven most of the time and if my granddaughter is working we go inside just to see her. She always comes around the counter and gives us a big hug :D She is going to college to teach this year and works 7 Eleven. They are great here for working around school schedules. I think that it is so sad that people are so untrustworthy and take advantage wherever they can.

Good morning,

Yesterday I did the KCM Plateau Buster premix that has workout 1, plus Bonus moves. That one is really tough.

Valerie, the last time I got replacement cards, the first ones never showed up, so they had to cancel those, and issue a second set of new ones. It was a pain because we only have the one general use card. They sent the second set by overnight express...which I wondered why the don't do that in the first place. I really would like to get rid of our weight bench, but it would need to be taken apart in order to get it up the stairs from the basement.

Carolyn, great that the yoga workout made you feel good. I need to try one of these...the most I have done is KCMM's 15 minute one.

Diane Sue, wow, a HR of 188 seems pretty high! I should clean out all my worksheets etc too.

Hi to Judy & Lori,

Take care,

Hi Everyone,

Saturday I did Yoga Max and yesterday I did Basic Step and Total Body Sculpting. It was so nice yesterday! Sunny and in the high 70's.

Deb-Great job on Plateau Buster! I think I will have to try that premix too. I agree with Diane Sue, agility class sounds like a workout!

Diane Sue-Yoga Max is really a good one! I've been doing it more often and it seems to help. I have paper logs from 1994-2003 with my workouts. In 2004 I switched to an excel spreadsheet and have used that since. The paper logs I used were Runner's World training logs. I used them to record all my workouts, but it was mostly running and biking back then. I have binders for Cathe's user guides, KCM's workout sheets, etc.

Carolyn-Yoga Relax is a good one too. I really like Cathe's approach to yoga. I found a yoga studio that is very close to where I live so I think I'm going to try it soon.

Valerie-Great job on the workouts and WW!

Hi to Lori & Caitlin!

Judy

Carolyn I wanted to thank you for recommending WW. I had such a terrible experience last year. I was unlucky enough to join in the midst of turmoil. things switched day to day. overall nothing worked. never got the mobile app to work. now it's pretty easy. I got was tired after a few weeks, data appeared and disappeared randomly. Now it works smoothly. my main complaint is vegetarian dishes seem to be point heavy but that is more my problem than theirs. DH was dreading me joining again. it's different now.

Judy, I liked studio yoga a lot. It helps getting your form right to begin with. It also gave me modifications when it is clear my hips/legs don't (and will never do) some common poses. some totally unfit people could do them right away, while I struggled. we are not put together the same and just sitting cross legged at all is my goal. lotus would be possible only if I broke every joint involved. I am quite flexible overall but not in that spot.

didn't do anything yesterday ...some garden work. it's a muddy mess already. No replacement cc's yet. DH will call today if nothing shows by noon. our other cc company overnighted replacement cards. something in the paper about adding another level of security to cards, like fingerprint tech or photo. all this turmoil must cost a lot. something like 1 in 6 transactions have problems.
I always wondered... does anyone know what happens in cc processing... where does the info go after the retailer?

Deb we have a bench in addition to the gym. we slide it under the original Cathe tower. I use for dips, flat and elevated chest presses, flys. I used it a lot with STs and DH uses STS routinely. he does the upper only and works his way thru the program and then restarts. I'm not sure if he uses all 3 sections or not. we can't stand being in the same room for workouts.

I am going through some of my Kelly workouts. Today I did Lift Power Sculpting 39 minutes, heart rate average 113, max 145, 1226 steps. There is no work sheet for this one. After doing it I see why, as it is more of a metabolic weight workout with no rests and compound moves. I mostly used 10 and 15 lb dumbbells. I forgot about the barbell roll outs and plank jump in moves holding the bar. I used to love that segment. I then did Kelly's Body Shop premix Split back, biceps, and legs, 33 minutes(actual is 23 but I stopped to write things down and had a bit of a time at first finding the right spot on the work sheet, which does have a pattern after I figured it out) 179 calories according to Map my Fitness as I paused my Fit Bit at 9 minutes and forgot to start it back up. Total time was 72 minutes, 394 calories. Oh, and I did add the weighted bridges to the end of Body Shop.
Body Shop weights 10 reps
Staggered stance single rows wide and underhand counts 1 rep, 10 reps 15# right, then 10 reps left repeat
reverse lunge leg raise 10 reps 15# left then 10 reps right
Combo reverse lunge with row 15# 10 reps right 10 reps left
lat pull downs 10's x 10 reps alternated with Plies 15's 10 reps 2 times
combo lat pull down and plie 10's# x 10 reps
cross chop bicep curls 15's x 10 reps 2 sets
single curtsies 15's # x 10 reps 2 sets
combo curtsy and hammer curls 15's x 10 reps
biceps curls with count of 2 pulse 1 up, 15# x 10 reps right then 10 reps left repeat
single leg deadlift 15's # x 10 rep right then 10 left repeat
combo deadlift and curl 15's 10 reps
weighted bridges 15# dumbbells 10 reps right,10 reps left repeat then set 3 is 10 reps with pulses

Carolyn, it sounds like we both had a wasted workout day. I was thinking as sore as I was Saturday night that I should have done the yoga relax workout. Nice work :)

Deb, those bonus moves on Plateau buster add a bit more cardio to it and are not so easy. I had to call this morning to verify my card so I could use it. They gave a cut off for one day and the next it is the new card. I did it early so I did not have to battle lots of people trying to do it at the same time. Now I have to sit down today and change CC numbers with different accounts. I hope I get them all the first time. Nothing worse than a card not working.

Judy, it is supposed to be in the low seventies here for the next couple of days. I guess we should enjoy it. We have a football game to go to Friday and a special day for grandparents and some of my grandchildren's school. It is supposed to be only a high of 54 and low of 33 with wind. I am probably going to be wearing winter apparel for that. Generally yoga max is my favorite of Cathe's two yoga workouts. I think because it is a bit more active. Nice work on the step and sculpting. I am guessing that the step is going easily for you now? I get lazy about going through all of my stuff to find worksheets and printouts. It is best if I plan ahead or I just go print a new sheet and do it. I have a folder that has just work sheets from older workouts that I need to go through if I want to find one already printed. I do have them organized by instructor though.

Today’s workout was STS D 28, Chest and Back. My total time was 1 hour 19 minutes and 296 calories burned. Average heart rate was 106 and maximum heart rate 133. It was quite a workout and I am tired!

Diane Sue, I need to go through many of my workouts also to remind myself of what I have. I like KCM’s workouts so I’m not sure why I don’t use them more. I like Yoga Max as an active workout too. Initially I didn’t use it, but once I did I really like it. The Ultimate Yogi workouts by Travis Eliot are very active. My old workout notebooks don’t have much information. I started adding more details as I worked more with weights. I like to look back and see how far I have come.

Valerie, I am glad that WW is working for you this time. Are you talking about grains, lentils, etc being higher in points? Don’t be afraid to use some of your weekly points occasionally. I am interested in a yoga class for the reasons that you mentioned.

Hello to Judy, Lori, Deb, and Caitlin.

Valerie- I thought I was flexible until I started doing yoga. There are several poses that I can't do the way they are supposed to be done. My hips are not flexible at all.

Diane Sue-Thanks! I feel pretty good with Basic Step, now I need to try some more advanced step workouts. The temperatures are supposed to go down tonight and our highs will be in the 40's and 50's and lows in the 30's. I will be wearing my winter clothes too.

Carolyn-Great job with STS!

Judy, you have done great with the step workouts. I intended to mention that before. I have very tight hips which is one of the reasons I first tried yoga. I found that flexibility is definitely an issue for me.

when I sit cross legged, my knees are very high off the ground. it got a little easier over the years but some people sit cross legged and their knees drop to the floor. in my dreams! Lotus or fire log or anything like that is beyond impossible. Tree pose was tough. my leg won't go very high. even the stretch.... lie on your back, cross a leg over the other at the knee, reach down to grab the leg. extremely awkward for me and doesn't stretch much since my knee is pretty much in my face. I would try all kinds of gyrations to get closer to what everyone else was doing, but that was not the right thing to do. my instructor routinely gave me modifications for these moves. so a few classes might get you off in the right direction.

Judy, I have flexibility for the most part. I can put my hands on the floor when bent over, do the arm wrap/ twist in the lunge position. But there are some body mechanics that I think will never change. I have learned that trying to move them too far only causes me pain instead of being helpful. I think I am more likely trying to break something to get it in the position. Like Valerie says, my knee on my right side comes up off the floor when trying to sit cross legged. The figure 4 stretch lying down my knee on the right side is in my face.

Valerie, I have the same problem with the angle my knees go. I now know, they will never go that way. I have tried, and used to do yoga a lot. I just modify the moves and go on. Even Suzanne Bowen on her relax stretch has her legs crossed so far that her foot is hanging over the other knee to rotate it and massage that foot. Mine will not get there. It is very uncomfortable trying to get it there. I think that is why I don't do that stretch segment of hers very much. Oh, and tree pose is good on the left leg for me as I can balance well, but the right leg my balance is off and I cannot pull my leg out to the side when they grab their toes.

Carolyn, I have several very active yoga workouts. Some are more active than I would want when I am trying to get a good stretch in. Z Cut yoga is one of them. There is some jumping in part of that one. The same with Brook Benton's Cardio Yoga ( I guess the name says it all), Jillian Michaels two yoga workouts which at thought would be good after knee surgery. No way could I do them after knee surgery. Bob Harper's and Tony Hortons can be pretty active, but still a good stretch along with them. Then there is Chalean Extreme Dynamic Flow yoga with weighted gloves. I guess I could name a lot of them that I have that have a lot of activity in them. :)

Good morning,

No workout yesterday. I did go assist in the puppy class in the morning. Then met my cousin for a quick bite for lunch. When she went home, she found her dog having some sort of stress….she thought it was a heart attack. He has been having heart problems for a couple of years. She called frantic, hysterical….I went there and took them to the vet. It was a type of stroke, from lack of oxygen...(due to his heart issues)...she decided to not let him suffer any longer....so needless to say, it was a sad afternoon. :).

Judy, you are doing great with the Cathe step workout...ready to try another?

Valerie, that is great that WW has improved and you are enjoying using it now. Our bench is so heavy, it would not be easy to slide around. It has a squat rack, and the leg extension/curl attachment on the end. I used to be able to sit cross-legged with my knees fairly close to the floor...not any more...my hips are not that flexible any more.

Diane Sue, I hear you on the CC changes. Apparently with our recent CC change, I missed changing an online payment for our EZ Pass. They tried to take out the monthly allotment for our account and it had the old card info...of course. *Sigh*....what did we do before all this electronic stuff? It seemed so much easier back then.

Hi to Carolyn, & Lori

Take care,

Deb-I'm sorry about your cousin's dog. That is sad.
Thanks! Yes, I'm ready to try another step workout. I think I'll do Body Fusion or Low Impact Step next.

Today I did Kelly Coffey Total Body Kickbox combined workouts, 58 minutes, 416 calories, avg heart rate 136, max 185, 4,412 steps. I am still wondering about the high heart rate. On the weight workout my heart rate was very low. I was hoping the update would help as I am not breathing really hard or anything. I guess I should try and stop and check my pulse, but I always have a hard time getting it and by the time I do it has dropped. I decided to do the other split workout on Body Shop, shoulders and triceps, 19 minutes, 63 calories, heart rate 92 average, max 128, 242 steps. Total time was 77 minutes, 479 calories.
Weights for Body shop shoulders and triceps
shoulder press single arm with leg raise laterally 8# 10 reps 3 sets
lateral raise with knee up single arm 8# 10 reps 3 sets
triceps (overhead extensions pull down to front knee) single arm 8# 10 reps 3 sets 4th set just overhead triceps extension single 10 reps then 10 pulses
Triceps kickbacks single arm lunge stance 15# 10 reps 3 sets 4th set 10's# run arm triceps extensions 10 reps

Deb, that is sad that your cousin had to put her dog down. I am sure it was emotional and glad that you were there for her. You are right, it was much easier when we just knew we were going to write a check and mail our payments. Now it is remembering which ones pull money out automatically and when, and all of the credit card and bank information to remember. Then the crazy websites change and alter things periodically. I feel I waste so much more time and it leads to a lot more stress than the old way.

Today I did KCM’s Cardio Blast. I did a premix that included the step combos and some plyo moves from workout two. It was 42 minutes, 315 calories burned, average heart rate 132 and maximum heart rate 154. After that I did Ab Circuits Medicine Ball Abs for an additional 12 minutes.

There are some tasks that cause stress just thinking about them and bill paying is one of them. Whether it’s electronic or old fashioned method I stress until it’s done. It’s open enrollment for my health benefits and I am stressing about that. It’s not difficult and I am not making changes, but I still dread it.

Diane Sue, I was trying to decide on cardio this week and you mentioned Kelly workouts. I decided to do that today and I am glad that I did. It was a good workout without being too much. I try not to overdo on days between the STS workouts.

Valerie, my knees are also high off the ground when I sit cross legged. My knees will never rest on the floor in that position, but that’s okay with me.

Deb, that’s very sad about your cousin’s dog.

Hello to Lori, Judy, and Caitlin. Enjoy your afternoon.

Hi all! Just wanted to say hi! I’ll catch up on posts tomorrow. Today was a rest day otherwise I have done well with workouts. Tomorrow I plan to start with weights instead of using bands. Shoulder feels great. Hope everyone is well. Chat with you tomorrow!

I went to the library after my workout this morning with plans of heading to the store and my daughters with some books. I picked up the books at the library and when I got in the car it would do nothing. I tried several times. I called dh and ended up calling the dealership, they in turn called for road side service who got on the line with me to set it up. After getting it all set up, I had put the key back in the ignition figuring they needed it and while I was sitting there the seat belt warning light went off. I tried starting and it started up with no warnings or anything. I canceled road side and drove to the dealership. I sat there till they set up recutting and coding the key. It was going to take till 5 oclock so I got my daughter and her husband to pick me up. We went to lunch, around 1:30. I was so hungry since I had eaten nothing today. Not even greens powder this morning. We went to the store late and did not get my car. I got home at 8:00, so hungry. I have to go back to get the car and am trying to get things set for family dinner tomorrow evening. Not what I expected when I went out the door. I hope the key works now and that it is not something else.

Carolyn, I have done the Cardio Blast workout a lot. It seems the time moves pretty fast with that one. I think I am done with setting up insurance for this year. Coverage is not wonderful for my husband, but at least we have it. Cost for him goes up this year.

Lori, it's great that your shoulder feels good again.

Good morning,

No workout yesterday.

Judy, I don't remember Body Fusion, I don't think I have that one. I kind of remember Low Impact Step, but not that it was easy! A KCM step may be a good one to try too.

Diane Sue, I hope they finally have figured out how to fix your car issue. That sounds like a horrible day! I am still have issues with our CC being connected to the EZ pass. They keep emailing me saying that the card I have on file is no good. I changed it to the new card, but somehow they are not seeing that. Of course there is no way to speak with a real person...all automated. :(

Carolyn, same here on enrollment for health care for next year. My company retiree plan is changing, and I have to decide what to do for the first 4 months of next year. I turn 65 in April, and have to figure out Medicare for after that.

Lori, glad your shoulder is feeling better.

Hi to Valerie,

Taking my friend for her treatment this morning, agility class tonight...

Take care,
