Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 10/16

I am back from the ct scan and thyroid ultrasound. I have to wait to hear the results. Hopefully today. I am getting copies of everything. Today I picked up a copy of the first ct scan results and a cd of it. Reading it with all of the medical terminology I caught part of it. The degeneration in the neck was not hard to understand. My granddaughter took me to lunch at a place called La Baguette today. I have only been there once. They have such good food. I got a large salad the had fresh green beans and asparagus on top with some slice potato, red onion, boiled egg, greens, and a lemon slice. It was perfect. Then my granddaughter insisted on dessert so I splurged and had the Italian cream cake. They have hole bakery deli area in the front as well for take home stuff. I probably really did not need the dessert though.

We do have friends that including a couple of pastors we have had that loved hunting but it generally went along with a get away and quiet time to enjoy nature. That is probably true as part of what some that like to hunt feel I would imagine getting away from all of the hustle and electronics would be so relaxing.

Valerie, we have the indoor antenna and my husband said maybe I should make markings labeling the different placement for different channels. When Fox is on it has to be at a midrange position near the outside window, when CBS is on I have to put it in the window up high. IT does get annoying and I am not the one that really watches television. I watch Big Bang Theory while making dinner. Most of the time I am at the computer or reading when it is on. PBS comes in fine here. Our cable company that we get our internet through has a low cost local channel package for $10 a month offer they have sent me. I am afraid to call them because I know there will be added fees and the 79.99 that our internet costs us after fighting for better service and streaming at 100 mbps and keeping cost down may change when they try to put it in a package or something. I don't trust them on pricing. We get Netflix and Amazon Prime. VUDU just added a free with limited commercial option but when I looked there were only about 250 shows on the list. I did without television even though I was paying for a whole package deal from ATT Uverse when my husband was out of country. I really should have cancelled other than that I had programming for the grandchildren to watch.

Linda, yes, as stated above I had additional testing today. The woman that did the ct scan saw that they were wanting to do a biopsy so checked before she pulled the iv out. Apparently they are waiting to do that one. After looking at the statement that there was degeneration in the neck on my first results I think I am going to have to be really careful with that area from now on. Even though I have been babying it somewhat there are things that I need to change. I agree that the time spent with loved ones when they are sick and going through so much is really important. I was working and did not get to go visit my mother in Nebraska when she had als and regret that. My youngest daughter spent her summer months with her and I believe she has always treasured that time.

Lynda-the December challenge is a month of doing Spinervals almost every day, with at least one long ride on the weekend. I completed the challenge once, in 2012. That month I did 27 Spinervals and rode 724 indoor miles.

Good morning,

A nice visit with my friend yesterday...though we talked too much and only viewed 2 episodes of Suits.

Diane Sue, glad you are feeling better! I think you are smart to not do anything too strenuous right now. Yes, I am not happy that they have no answers regarding why the reflux is happening. No idea on the nodule, I have to see the ENT I guess. Lunch with your granddaughter sounds nice.

Valerie, we are having the same rain....we will need an ark soon! Good news on the antenna, hope the booster works for you to get PBS again. Not sure what I am going to do about the reflux issue...I know I will not stay on these meds indefinitely.

Lynda, we had a good time watching the 2 episodes....have you watched this current season? I am not sure if it is done on regular TV or not! I got the second episode of Foyles War...I really enjoyed it. Requested the last 2 for season 1 from the library.

Judy, wow that challenge sounds really tough! Cudos to you for completing the one in 2012. :)

Agility class this morning...then we get to put the living room back together...

Take care,

Good morning ladies!

So far been a really lazy morning for me. My son came to visit us or I should say he came to visit GiGi! :). He could not believe how much she has grown in 2 weeks. She is so much bigger than Nilla now. 2 weeks ago they were about the same size. Things are going well between them. We keep rolled up newspaper that we smack in our hands or on the counter while saying no and she stops the bad behavior immediately and sits.

Diane Sue..hoping you get the results soon. Lunch with you daughter sounded wonderful. You deserve splurging on a dessert with all those tests.

Deb...oh I was hoping you would find out the root of the problem. Very fustrating I am sure.

Judy...wow that challenge is tough. Good for you doing it again. December will be here before you know it.

Lynda...yes I am happy to be able to visit with her. She holds a very special place in my heart. When my mom was sick I had some very touching moments, conversations, hugs. I treasure those memories and want as many of these as I can get with Madeline.

Valerie...we had a ton of rain yesterday and it is still rainy today. Hard to get motivated! Glad the antenna is up and hoping the booster works.

Today whenever I get moving will be Cathe's recent Live...Shock Circut followed up with some heavy bag tabatas.

Have a great day all!

the booster has to be added to the antenna itself. more roof time for us but it's not here yet.
Lori gigi sounds like she is going to be easy to train. she's paying attention to you.

diane sue I agree, a great dessert once in a while is a good thing. glad you are continuing to improve. that salad sounded fabulous too. that's the kind of thing I always order, with dressing on the side. Our old antenna picked up PBS fine, but the new one, not at all although it gets all three local stations clearly. I'm thinking there are different signals like vhf and uhf and PBS is not the same as the others. this antenna is smaller and less cumbersome so a big improvement and we can elevate it more.
same for you Deb. keep doing the non medical measures. there may be more thoughts about what might help reflux. DH doesn't take any meds most of the time, but he is good about doing the steps that keep it settled down.

Interestingly, DH took the camper off the truck yesterday, and we found a bundle of information that we thought was stolen. the guy stuffed it in the tiny space to ditch it out of sight. It was damp but OK. all the info on all the different parts of the camper!. such a relief to find it. thought we'd never see it again.

I did chiseled lower body, 15 on the treadmill, and core 2 yesterday. I can't do all the fast jumping, one move in particular was ridiculous. just can't go that fast! I probably get in about half to 2/3 of the reps. just no way can I move that fast! I can keep going forever, but can't get that kind of speed. I wasn't out of breath or tired. oh well. will repeat it and see if I can amp it up a bit.

Judy what a challenge. that is an incredible number of miles in a month.

This morning I did Ice Sweat timesaver workout 2 step only without using the weights, 28 minutes, 185 calories. I am feeling pretty good. I want to do some stretching later. My grandson Isaac came over to wax my husband's car and visit for awhile so I did not do more. The doctor called me last night from home and gave me the results when she got them. She also texted me copies. She had to make sure that that was okay to do first. She is so nice. I was expecting to wait till next week. There was some positive in this. The tests showed more lymph nodes but no masses in the breasts and lungs which is great. There is a nodule on the thyroid that she wants me to get checked out again in 3 months. She is going to push to get that fluid biopsy from the nodes done.

Judy, that was some challenge, 724 miles is awesome !

Deb, you might try a good greens powder for alkalizing. It really has helped me a lot. I often find myself trying to find my own solutions that help. Not knowing what the problem is can be very frustrating. I am glad that you enjoyed your visit with your friend.

Lori, those lab puppies grow so fast. I remember when Mudd was a pup at almost 6 weeks old she was smaller than our lop eared bunny Harvey. She passed Harvey up fast. Harvey used to try to wake Mudd up to play. Sadly Mudd started getting to aggressive and we had to separate them. I think Harvey enjoyed the chase for awhile until Mud figured out how to run behind the theater seats where Gertie would go and taunt her.
That is good that the newspaper works. We did that with Gertie for awhile but eventually had to change our tactics. Gigi sound like a pretty intelligent pup. I bet she learns quickly.

Valerie, that is great that you found the paperwork for the camper. I bet you were very relieved. I had dressing on the side with the salad but since it had the lemon with it I barely touched it with dressing. It was hard to find one on My Fitness Pal that was not listing a lot of fat and I am sure my salad did not have that much. Now the Italian cream cake had to have had plenty of fat and calories. It was rich and had lots of creamy goodness. This restaurant, bistro is a higher end French bistro bakery. The family started in France and started the business here. IT took care of that odd want for something sweet that I have had lately. There was a family in there letting their children pick out pastries that was trying to find something gluten free. I would have thought that would be hard in this type of restaurant. They sell breads and vinegars and meats as well. Nice job on Chiseled Lower Body. I think the important thing is that you just keep moving over whether you get as many reps.
Our indoor antenna works pretty well if I put it in the narrow tall window in the circle of our stairs, but it l think it looks ridiculous having it there with a wire funning up the wall. I purchased this one because the other one had a short wire so it was limited as to location. Right now it has to be wrapped around the sliding glass doors that go to the Florida room which is still not wonderful. I have tried on different places behind the television, pictures, and above the vertical blinds but it does not work well.. I wonder if they have indoor boosters. I remember getting some kind of booster for our internet before.
