Good morning!

I did the 1 set only pre-mix of STS Total Body this morning, all kinds of HouseMax still on the to do list.

Later....

Hi Deb and any later posters--

This morning I did Rockin' Models (70 min.). This one really hits my legs. Love the music and the set.

Forgot that we had a party to go to last night. It was fun and met a lot of new people. This afternoon I will go see the King's Speech.

Things are currently quiet weather-wise, but they are once again threatening a mid-week snowfall. Blech! Right before the semester begins.

Big grocery shopping list today and I forgot it! I remembered everything on it, and I am wondering if I should do this every week as a mnemonic exercise. Reassures me that I am not on the way to Alzheimer's. I had to plan for Superbowl Sunday. Doing wings and chili and my Milky Way cake. Friends are bringing other stuff. Nigella Lawson's chili has chocolate in it that gives it a mole-like flavor. Really yummy!

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

I won't be surprised if I can't check in for a few days or more. We are expected to get from 1/2 to 1 inch of ice. I know the power will go out. Let's hope none of our neighbor's trees fall. Their trees are a lot taller than mine. After we get that ice then they are still saying up to a foot of snow. Such crazy weather when it was 47 degrees on Friday. Joan

Good morning,

No workout today, another bad night. I am wondering how much work has to do with this. I slept fine Friday and Saturday night, then last night I think work was bothering me because I was having all kinds of strange dreams about it. Then of couse add in the musical beds that we play, so no getting up at 4;15.

Garance, great memory test! give us that milky way cake recipe! ARe you getting snow? we have not had any all week, hope it stays that way.

Joan, sending you ((no ice)) vibes. I hope they are wrong in their predictions.

Valerie, I see you posted on last weeks thread, get on over here girl!!

In a rush today, since I did not get up to work out, the extra time I usually have is gone....

Later, take care...

The freezing rain has started. Deb you didn't send the vibes quick enough. At least I don't have to go out in it. Joan

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did KCM's double Bootcamp Circuit (55 min.). My legs and butt were really sore from Rockin' Models.

Deb, I e-mailed an attachment of my Milky Way cake. Very easy and according to DH, it just gets better and better after a few days. Very dense, so take it easy on the size of the slices.

Absolutely loved The King's Speech. Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush are brilliant in it, and Helena Bonham Carter has a smaller role, but she's perfect in it.

Joan, what you are getting now is headed toward us with a vengeance. I don't think we will get the icing, but two days of snow. What a winter this has been and it just keeps coming.

I have two friends in Egypt and I'm hoping they can get out. They were trying to escape Minnesota weather, a totally worthy ambition, but it sounds like Cairo has everything shut down so tourists are left with watching rioting and looting Egyptians.

Stay warm!

Good morning,

I wanted to sleep in a bit, but ended up getting up anyway, with no energy to do a workout. I just want to sit here and drink coffee. So that is what I am doing.

Joan, We are supposed to get some really nasty weather tonight. TPTB may even close the schools tomorrow, making the announcement today, which is unheard of around here. They usually wait until 6 am to decide. I don't mind the 2 feet of snow predicted, it's the ice I am afraid of too, and power loss etc.

Garance, thanks for the recipe! I want to try it, but need an "occasion" so that I don't have it here to tempt me. I will keep it for when I have people here, or need to bring something to a get together. No topping or frosting at all? I hope your friends get home safely. I didn't realize how similar our avatars were! Both in the snow..

Hi to Valerie, & Cathy,

Stay warm!

Yes, I'm here. We survived the mt biking with our friend on saturday, and survived admirably. ( she's from romania) DH is good , better than me. our friend... turns out she's 32... is quite competitive. her bike was missing one brake. I kept up.. gotta do this single file... and at the end of about 2 hours she'd had it, but DH and I were ready for another round. strike one for the old codgers! we were gracious and gave in for lunch. it's funny, I was just getting warmed up... takes me a long time to get my skills revved up and by then, we were done. our bikes had newly serviced brakes and derailleurs, made a huge difference on mine. last time felt like I couldn't stop, and the shifting was so clunky I was jumping 3 gears at a time and flying off the pedals. so a great day! It's a fun activity if you can find a good place to ride. this is in a state park along salt water. hilly and forested with a section near the beach, nice trails with some up and some down, not too wet or muddy.

Yesterday we did an easy hike. we haven't gotten any new snow, low level stuff is icy but no new snow. 4 hours.
this morning is yoga and then whatever. one of the last disks.

We had a winter like you all are having 3 years ago. kept on coming, just didn't stop! an inch of freezing rain is horrendous. so destructive and nothing to do,can't plow it or defrost it. not that another foot of snow isn't a PITA too. but so far this year ( for us) has been fairly benign, and by the end of Jan we are usually thru the worst. it was dry and semi sunny both sun and mon. wed looks good too.

Lynda, I rented Inception but didn't get thru it. totally lost on me. DH finished it and said it was good, but I lasted about an hour and a half and could not stand another minute. even with subtitles I was completely confused and the frantic pace, well, I thought it was an awful movie. for me anyway.
the cake? it's really good? but how can a milky way cake be "bad"? I can use another cake recipe in my arsenal. only for company or a birthday. could I have it too?

Deb, is reducing decaf not helping? sleep habits are habits, pretty ingrained ... takes a while to change but if it's not helping at all, go back to what you enjoy. for us, dropping most caffeine made a difference right away. I slept better and DH's migraines decreased. he still gets them but nowhere near as often./

Joan, hope you have power and the trees are still standing. all that ice breaks off limbs and ALWAYS fall on power lines. Portland, Or is known for its ice storms, we lived there for 4 years so are well versed on how destructive they are. when everyones power goes out utility crews can't get to everyone at once.

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy and Valerie--

This morning I did Jazzercise Dancin' Abs (60 min.).

Deb, I e-mailed you about "finishing" the cake. It is so dense and rich on its own and crusted with pecans that frosting IMO would be unnecessary. Are you getting any of this new double storm? It's snowing lightly today, but tomorrow whatever is happening to the south and west is heading our way, and it sure ain't pretty! I will probably stay in tomorrow if it is as bad as predicted.

Valerie, if you e-mail me, I will send the recipe back by attachment. I don't know how to attach it here from my Word files where it's saved. It's not a layer cake, so not sure it would work for a birthday, but it's a very reliable cake for guests, and I serve it with vanilla ice cream. Sorry you did not like Inception. I had to watch it twice to figure out how the three dreams worked together. I really liked Memento the second time I watched it too. I think Nolan is challenging. One for the codgers!

Joan, they are showing some really nasty weather in St. Louis--sleet and freezing rain. I hope we don't get that. I'll take the foot of snow they are predicting over freezing rain any time.

Hi to Josie and Cathy!

i agree joan, from friday to yesterday we were in shorts, t-shirts, bathing horses, and now they are saying wind chill of 0. that is just crazy for s. texas. just doesn't happen here. possible snow on friday, we can do without that. we have ZERO equipment for snow down here.

doing all of tracie's w/outs for my rotation this month. did ya'll see cathe's feb. rotation? how can a mere mortal ever do that kind of rotation? i would not be able to walk if i attempted that.

Good morning,

We did not get the amount of snow ( at least not yet) that was predicted, but we are covered and the streets look nasty. At least the school buses will not be out there clogging up the streets, since they closed the schools for today, yesterday.

Valerie, that bike ride reminds me of when I used to try to ride my 10-speed, things always went wrong because I never knew what I was doing. I ended up taking the tylenol pm last night, just to get a good sleep and it worked. I am going to have to figure out a way to use this intermittently. It's the diphenhyramine that is doing it. Maybe take straight diphenhydramine with an aspirin. I'll try that tonight.

Garnace, Thanks for the recipe. You are right, it would not need any type of frosting etc.

Joan, St Louis Customs was the first one they closed. I get all the Customs closing announcements at work, I am on a e-mail notification list.

Cathy, I saw that Texas was getting snow too! wow. I don't even look at Cathe's rotations anymore. No way I could do those. The time too. Usually over an hour each day. Maybe when I am retired?
"4DS Kickbox in its entirety during day and Lower Body Blast later in evening"
"Yeah right.

Take care and stay warm!

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy and Valerie--

This morning I did Tracy Mallett's Booty Barre (64 min.).

Things seem to have calmed down here and we did not get the foot of snow they were predicting, but Williams is shut down and I'm not going in to my office. Instead, I will spend the afternoon watching Seven Samurai, the first film assigned in my course.

Valerie, I have your e-mail now and will send the recipe tomorrow when I get back to my office. Yes, I think you could do any nut--almonds, hazel nuts, even peanuts. It's just a crunchy coating when you grease the bundt pan and then shake ground nuts into it before the batter is poured in.

Glad you managed to get some zzzzz, Deb.

Looks like the ground hog is totally wrong this year. He didn't see his shadow, so spring is on its way! Yeah, right.

Hi to Josie, Joan, and Cathy!

Hi Ladies,

I'm still alive and working out 6-7 days per week. I have been very busy at work closing out grants. So, I just wanted to say hello.

I will try to come back tomorrow..

Josie

well deb, i don't even work and i don't think i could fit them in every day. but, just the intensity is ridiculous.

and yeah, it is so ridiculously cold down here, it got up to a whopping 29 today, which is waaaay strange for us to stay that cold. we will be in the deep freeze for the next 2 days apparantly and maybe snow for us on friday. i can do w/out that. we are not equipped for snow down here and every thing just shuts down. it is are a real pain to keep water thawed out for the horses too. just not right to have this in the winter and then have 100's in the summer.
today i did tracie's old core strength, and i now remember why i avoid it. very hard!
hi to all

oh yeah, and a friend gave me her VHS set of PX90. i really want to preview it and try it. have ya'll done it?

one more thing , the room i workout in was 45' this morning. does that burn more calories? hope so.

Good morning,

I took a benadryl and an aspirin and slept pretty well last night. No workout though. It kept snowing most of the day yesterday, but the real problem is the drifting. It's up against our back door almost where I cannot open it. Poor Keegan, he can hardly get out to the yard. It's DH's day off so he will cut a path for him today.

Garance, did you see this.?>>>>>http://www.coffeyfit.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=773....I wonder how long before she is done editing etc.

Josie, how is the program working?

Cathy, is it P90 or P90X that she lent you? I had P90 but sold it on Ebay. It was too easy, in my opinion. I did get and do P90X which is a lot harder. I liked the upper body workouts for P90X, his lower body is just ok. I never did the Yoga or the cardio, subbed other stuff instead. I can't believe the weather you are getting there.

Hi to Valerie & Joan!

Stay warm!

Yeah, Cathy, extra calorie burn is 1 reason why I keep our workout room cool! I tell myself it can't hurt. I've never been happy working out warm. I don't sweat much, just get hotter and hotter, so 45 would be great for me.
we get into the same situation with snow. though we are far north, we don't get much snow and are not prepared to deal with it. What happens here may happen with you... the ground itself isn't frozen. when snow/sleet first falls, it becomes liquid. when it gets colder, the liquid makes a layer of ice that can't be plowed or scraped.... and remains to torment everyone until it warms up and rains. the liquid layer washes away deicer put down.
I've never done P90X.

Interesting day yesterday. we did a snowshoe, 4 1/2 hours. very pretty out, sunny and clear. While eating lunch I checked my cell. saw a message I hadn't heard come in. we were out of cell range until we got up higher in elevation. our security alarm had gone off, neighbor heard it. police were called, turned out to be our first false alarm.
I turn my cell on when we leave, this time I forgot to turn it on until we'd gone about 5 miles. when I turned it on we were in a 'no service" area but I never heard beep for a message. so we went on our merry way, not knowing. in addition, we'd had trouble with a door sensor and had bypassed it before we left. so all turned out OK, no break in. turns out DH didn't shut the door completely after he set the alarm and the door popped open. I'm so glad I didn't do it! the PD can fine you heavily if this happens again.

My sympathy for those of you buried in snowdrifts. I know, it's no fun, having spent my first 25 yrs in Wisconsin. Call it Shovelmax, the workout.

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Cathy, and Valerie--

This morning I did Bootcamp Boogie (63 min.).

Deb, thanks for the update on our preorder. I'm looking forward to some new cardio because I seem to be in rut, doing the same cardio every week with a few variations.
Max does a lot of leaping through the snow and is really appreciative when DH does a lot of plowing and clearing. He waits for me to come home in the evening and is perched on top of this little hill. Then he races down toward the car, pivots, and like he's ushering me up the driveway races ahead and does this big wild race up to the barn and then around to greet me as I get out of the car.

Valerie, I sent you the cake recipe. Everyone here is having problems with ice dams on the roof. If you don't do something about them, it leaks inside. DH is up on the roof creating rivulets for the melted snow and shoveling off as much as he can. A very messy winter.

Cathy, DH has water heaters for the cows and pigs. He has had to do some major digging around the feeder for the pigs, though, because they were starting to kneel to get underneath the shutters that open the feed bin. Sounds like people are having a hard time getting to the Superbowl in Dallas because of so many flights being cancelled.

Hi to Joan and Josie!
