Yes, I'm here. We survived the mt biking with our friend on saturday, and survived admirably. ( she's from romania) DH is good , better than me. our friend... turns out she's 32... is quite competitive. her bike was missing one brake. I kept up.. gotta do this single file... and at the end of about 2 hours she'd had it, but DH and I were ready for another round. strike one for the old codgers! we were gracious and gave in for lunch. it's funny, I was just getting warmed up... takes me a long time to get my skills revved up and by then, we were done. our bikes had newly serviced brakes and derailleurs, made a huge difference on mine. last time felt like I couldn't stop, and the shifting was so clunky I was jumping 3 gears at a time and flying off the pedals. so a great day! It's a fun activity if you can find a good place to ride. this is in a state park along salt water. hilly and forested with a section near the beach, nice trails with some up and some down, not too wet or muddy.
Yesterday we did an easy hike. we haven't gotten any new snow, low level stuff is icy but no new snow. 4 hours.
this morning is yoga and then whatever. one of the last disks.
We had a winter like you all are having 3 years ago. kept on coming, just didn't stop! an inch of freezing rain is horrendous. so destructive and nothing to do,can't plow it or defrost it. not that another foot of snow isn't a PITA too. but so far this year ( for us) has been fairly benign, and by the end of Jan we are usually thru the worst. it was dry and semi sunny both sun and mon. wed looks good too.
Lynda, I rented Inception but didn't get thru it. totally lost on me. DH finished it and said it was good, but I lasted about an hour and a half and could not stand another minute. even with subtitles I was completely confused and the frantic pace, well, I thought it was an awful movie. for me anyway.
the cake? it's really good? but how can a milky way cake be "bad"? I can use another cake recipe in my arsenal. only for company or a birthday. could I have it too?
Deb, is reducing decaf not helping? sleep habits are habits, pretty ingrained ... takes a while to change but if it's not helping at all, go back to what you enjoy. for us, dropping most caffeine made a difference right away. I slept better and DH's migraines decreased. he still gets them but nowhere near as often./
Joan, hope you have power and the trees are still standing. all that ice breaks off limbs and ALWAYS fall on power lines. Portland, Or is known for its ice storms, we lived there for 4 years so are well versed on how destructive they are. when everyones power goes out utility crews can't get to everyone at once.
