Good morning,

Today I did Burn Sets Chest Back & Shoulders.

Just getting us started....DH and I are going to the early movie to see The Hobbit in Imax...( yes he talked me into it!)...he has seen it once already and is sure that I will love it....Well, he doesn't ask for much so we are going. I can probably get a good lunch out for it so that's ok too! :D

Back later to see what is going on with everyone...

Hi Deb and any later posters--

This morning I did Cardio Leg Blast, premix 1 with Core 2 (68 min.).

Deb, I was surprised at how quickly the Hobbit went by for such a long film. Very enjoyable! Hope you love it as much as John does. I'm off to see Silver Linings Playbook this afternoon, then home to watch whatever is left of the Pats vs. Ravens (Go Pats!!).

Temperature is supposed to fall all afternoon here and get very windy. Probably when I get out of the film, it will be frigid. Right now it's in the 40s and feels more like spring. Strange weather.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

Hey gang,

Busy day, I did X-Train Chest, Back & Shoulders, did some HouseMax stuff then went to see The Hobbit. This was Imax 3D format, which was amazing in itself. I am not a fantasy story person, ( maybe Harry Potter, but that would be the extent of it). If you to go to see this, you would want to see in 3D for sure. Although I have to say I was a little queasy when I got out of the theater, and still am feeling a little rocky.. I think the 3D action got to me....

Garance, it was very windy here yesterday and last night, now it's just really cold. Hope your movie was enjoyable.

Off to feed dogs, and peel hard boiled eggs...such an exciting Sunday!

Take care,

Good evening ladies!

Deb - Love that you saw the Hobbit in 3D. I loved the Hobbit but can't do Imax or 3D as I get extreme motion sickness and know what I need to stay away from. Even when I fly I can get sick with the slightest movement of the plane. I actually take medication now before every flight. It has been a godsend for me.

Garance, I ended up taking a rest day today. Went 7 days without one so my body demanded it today. I did however take chester for a 3 mile walk thru the woods. Was indeed strange day weather wise. Was close to 50 degrees here when I was walking. But boy was it windy. Felt like I had to walk extra hard coming back. (So much for a rest day!) Tomorrow will be cardio legs and so forth. For this week I will be behind you one workout.

I am absolutely loving my heavy bag, however, hoping Cathe will be producing more workouts using the bag otherwise the two workouts I have will eventually get old. I love combing the MMA Boxing one with the Hardstrikes Tabata. Great cardio workout!

Have a great night!!! Go Pats!!!!

Good morning,

Nothing like starting the week out with a 3:30 am workout!
pushup.gif
Thanks to the "Double K's)..today was All Out HIIT...I did a Timesaver pre-mix ( #12 Floor and Disk Cardio with Core#1). That core work is tough. Can you do those side oblique leg out things? I cannot, at. all...I just flub around and try to do parts of it.

Lori, I think that is what my problem was...I was "car sick" from the 3D movie! LOL. It was amazing though...it was like those eagles were flying right over your head.

Another week, which will start with my boss in town from Memphis. ..always a joy!

Take care,

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Valerie, and Lori--

This morning I did Hard Strikes premix 16 (34:40).

Silver Linings Playbook is excellent. The performances are superb, and it feels like a screwball comedy like Bringing Up Baby (Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn). Often very, very funny, but also romantic at times. Wasn't happy with the Pats-Ravens game, though. Oh well. Always another year. I just want Brady to match Montana in the number of Super Bowls. Downton Abbey was really good again.

3-D is a lot of fun in The Hobbit. Glad I don't get vertigo watching it. I do, on the other hand, suffer from motion sickness on a boat. Ugh!

They keep fearcastiing the weather here, but so far, I'm not all that impressed. It's cold, but bearable with all my layers. Now, I will probably rue my boast and get hit with sub-zero temps for a week.

Good morning ladies!

No workout this morning. Little snowy here so I am planning to drive in with DH and will need to leave a little earlier. I have a little Fiat and have no desire to drive it in the slightest snow. Fortunatelty my husband and I work near eachother. Planning on hard strikes followed by heavy bag this evening. Yesterday was cardio legs, core and hip thrusts. Wow what a workout!

I have heard Silver Linings Playbook is really good. I am going to try and see it this weekend.

Have a great day!

Good morning,

Rest day for me...slept until 5:00...which is late for me. John got up with the dogs around 4:30, I didn't even hear them.

Garance, we got the same weather casters here.....they said 7-9 inches of snow, and we got about 1 inch...I guess it's some sort of job security for them. Any decision on Max? did you get input from your vet friend?

Looking forward to a nice relaxing evening, no class, watch Downton Abbey...nice..

Hi to Lori, Joan, Josie, and Valerie...( ?) where are you Valerie?

Take care,

Hey, I'm here I'm here!

Went on a hike snowshoe yesterday that was exhausting. we've had this weird weather pattern. I'ts very cold down low. and we haven't been out of the fog for days. dense, cold, unpleasant and freezing so there's a coating of ice/frost on everything. all day! but go to the mountains... it's balmy and sunny. it's an air inversion with high pressure above holding in a layer of cold moist air over the lowlands.

the hike/ snowshoe we started out at 20 degrees. as we climbed up, it got warmer and sunnier, and the snow went from frozen rock solid to mushy. very hard to dress right for these conditions. we started out in layers, several. by early afternoon we were sweating and over heated in the sun... 67 degrees and sun on snow is very, very warm. it's complicated getting long johns off, and that would have been the last thing to go. left them on and stopped for lunch. DH had to be home before 5 (on call) so we were both whipped anyway. approximately 8 miles, 2800 feet gain. walking on snowshoes has always been hard for me. they are too wide for a normal stride, even the narrowest ones, so I get much more tired than walking normally.

I get motion sick on boats but Ok if I can see land. open ocean is definitely a problem. I don't do it. I got a little queazy after Avatar as I remember, fine during the movie, but when I got up to leave I felt funny for a while.

the weekend before I had a day off, and did chest, back, shoulders, bi's and tris. that is a good one. I bought a new band, a"hard" one, and that amped it up a bit. today I have yoga, a doctor appt, and our kayak arrives. and hour of something upper body later this afternoon. we're going on vacation starting this weekend so no time to play kayak for a while.

we have a neighbor 3 doors down who's been a problem for years, drugs, noise, gunshots, and a base house for criminal activities. their water and power have been shut off for a long time, and the place is a sea of garbage. last night when we got home there was a yellow crime scene tape across the driveway, so finally we may be getting rid of them. no adults living there for possibly years now, just out of control punks. hope to find out more today about what might have happened yesterday.

We're watching the series "Boss" right now, the Kelsey Grammar vehicle based in chicago. . quite good really, although everyone is fairly disgusting, it won't raise your hope for politicians and politics in general. I think only one season is available so will move on to another series soon.

Hi Ladies,

Had a nice 3 day weekend, this morning I did the plyometric cardio circuit DVD. I had a hard time with this one today. I think that I over did it yesterday when I did the fit test (32 minutes) that the rotation called for and then did a 30 minute spin. My legs were tired today :(

On Saturday I ran for 47 minutes and on Sunday I did the pure cardio DVD + cardio abs.
I’m down a total of 4 pounds as of yesterday. My goal is to loose at least 10 pounds by the end of the 60 day rotation.

I will be back later.

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, Valerie, and Lori--

This morning I did Ch, Ba, Sh (53:51).

Deb, since Max started taking the anti-inflammatory with glucosamine, he has not limped at all. Really muddies the water in terms of making a decision. My vet friend says the REAL problem is keeping Max calm in recovery mode, which might be hard without tranquilizers. She also says it's a big surgery, not to just assume it won't take its toll on him. Very cold here, but far from the fearcasting the weather guys have been doing.

Wow, Josie, sounds like you've been melting those pounds off with no trouble. For me, it would be a major deprivation.

If you want really scary 3-D, go see The Life of Pi. Nothing like a Bengal tiger leaping out of the screen in your face. Phew--I just backed way, way up I was so startled. It is a very beautiful film, though.

Tomorrow I think I will do a shorter premix again on the Legs.

I did burn sets... chest, back, shoulders and increased my weight on a lot of moves. doesn't mean too much because I'm always conservative on my first time through, I think by between the second and third time I can do it so I get it right.

congrats Josie... I'd be on water for a week and couldn't lose 4 lbs.

My legs are fried, more from the wide position than anything. my knees are screaming at me from the outside edges... I've always had that problem with snowshoes, even the narrowest ones are too wide. but no other choice if you want to walk on snow and not break thru. may leave the legs alone tomorrow too. we're going on vacation soon and need to get stuff packed, so plenty to do.

I've had ACL surgery Lynda, not that I'd compare my experience to Max. I spent the first month pretty much immobilized. I wore aleg immobilizer much of the time for about 2 weeks, and then a restrictive brace. the range of motion has to be completely controlled until the grafted tissue heals in place. I wore a lesser brace for a year when hiking just to be careful.

Good morning,

I just finished Bi's & Tri's and am fried. Whew. It's 6 degrees here right now. Funny when you let the dogs out in this weather....""No staying out here, thank you very much"

Valerie, wow that was an amazing snow shoeing hike! Did you find out what happened at the house 3 doors down? Crime scene tape usually means some type of serious thing...(murder?). What do you think of Burn Sets? For me so far, it's my favorite of the series.

Josie, Congratulations on the weight loss!

Garance, maybe Max will be ok without the surgery. If he is not limping, it could be getting better with the meds? Kelsey's was really a bad tear, she would not even put her leg down.

Check this out> http://cathe.com/forum/f115/check-your-tubing-292013/#post2185563... I feel a lot better now...mine is only 60 inches long...no wonder I could not get it over my head for any of those exercises!

Agility class tonight, good thing there is lots of moving around in that or we would freeze our butts off.

Stay warm!

I'll measure my tube. the red one I had was too easy so I bought a black one but didn't try that disk again ...the bi/tri part. maybe today. I really like burn sets.

biannual visit to cardiology yesterday, always stresses me out although he is is SO kind to me... such a nice man and lets me participate, even lets me watch the screen while he adjusts and checks things. it really reduces the fear & mystery factor. he has a new medical ass't too, and she's much nicer than the previous one. he was more concerned about the cut on my forehead than I was. DH just steri-stripped it instead of getting it sutured and it will heal with very minimal scarring. we saw him within an hour of my fall because he was on call that morning so it must have looked pretty messy at the time but healed quickly. ayway, could not ask for a better doctor.

Lynda, could the surgery make things worse if you're unable to restrain Max enough? could it be put off until he's a little older andmore settled?

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie and Lori--

This morning I did Legs premix 6 (48:33).

Deb, Max has a partial tear and was only limping intermittently prior to this. Now he's not limping at all. Very cold here at 8 degrees, but still not as brutal as the weathermen would like.

Valerie, one of our sons tore his ACL but was in PT after only a couple weeks. He was back on the soccer field 6 months later. The problem with delaying the surgery on Max is that the other ligaments thicken to compensate for the torn ACL. It's pretty clear we should try to make up our minds on this within 2-3 mos. Sounds like a wonderful snowshoeing hike. Where are you off to on your vacation?

Lori, I think you will enjoy Silverlinings Playbook. Some great laughs and a happy ending. I always try to see all the Oscar nominees, but I'm not sure I want to see Django Unchained. Tarantino sometimes wears a bit thin for me, especially on the violence and the language.

Good afternoon ladies!

It is really really cold here today. Temp was 1 degree when I left this morning. Thank goodness for heated seats.

Did hardstrikes and heavy bag when I got home last night. This morning was chest, back and shoulders which was certainly a challenge since I did HS the evening before. My arms did not get enough rest! Could not match cathe's weights on some of the moves but I am pleased as to what I used with all things considered.

Everybody is so sick around me here in the office. So far I have been able to dodge getting sick. I did have a flu shot in October and so thankful I did. Hoping with all my exercising and healthy eating my immune system is on overdrive and will be able fight off all these viruses/colds floating around.

Valerie, sounds like you have the perfect doctor. Makes all the difference in the world when you find one so compassionate.

Deb thanks for the link on the tubing. This makes complete sense to me. I may just order Cathe's medium tubing since she seems to use a band in a few of her workouts. Mine is very old and one of the handles is very uncomfortable. Chester had chewed a portion of it when he was a puppy! I have been meaning to replace it and never think of it until I go to use it.

Garance, I can't imagine seeing Life of Pi in 3d. I have the book on my kindle and want To read it before I see the movie. Will take me a while to get to it since I have so many on my list to read.

Have a great afternoon!

Good morning,

Happy day before Friday! I can't wait for this week to end. Gyno apt yesterday, I had to wait an hour after my apt time to see him....lesson: do not make a 4:15 apt next time. Just like airlines, the last flight is always either late, or cancelled.

Valerie, it sounds like you have a great DR. What are your vacation plans?

Garance, some dogs do heal without the surgery, it it a very hard decision. Did you look at info on line?

Lori, LOL about heated seats. John has them in his car ( he has the model with leather seating) but they are really cold when you first get in. It's 8 degrees here right now...a little warmer than yesterday. I thought the one I have is Cathe's medium tubing (blue) but it must not be ...way too short for me to use with any overhead exercises.

Funny about flu shots...I have not had one since the 70's when we used to get them at work for free. The owner of the company at the time used to have a DR come in and give us all flu shots. I came down with the most nasty flu that year and have not had one since.

Well, off to shower and eat something before heading out...

Stay warm!

Good morning ladies!

Was -4 this morning when I got in my car! Brrrrrrr...but like I mentioned last post heated seats are wonderfull. My tush was nice and toasty!!! :)

Did Legs this morning and added ankle weights to the floor exercises and I really liked the workout. I was not able to complete the entire workout according to the rotation due to time but plan on the delts and barre when I get home tonight. Just too long for me to do in the morning.

Been reading the post about the puzzle matts and was inspired by some of the pictures of people's workout areas! I do my hi impact on wood floors and never thought about these matts. I went on Amazon and ordered a set of 12 for $14.50 with free ship. Thought this was a good price to try them out. Hoping they soften the jumps to make it a little easier on the joints. I'll let you know how I make out. They are scheduled to arrive tomorrow so I'll have them for the weekend.

Have a great day!!!

Lori

Hi Ladies,

Today’s workout was cardio recovery. I still feel like I got a good workout. This DVD consists of stretching and slow lunges, squats with the low ends that Cathe loves. I will also be going to my sculpt class tonight.

My co-workers are still loud and obnoxious, but thanks to yoga I have been able to tune them out. Sometimes the woman that talks very loud will be telling me a story and I just stare at her and tune her out ;) I just nod my head and agree with her.

It has been raining al night but it is 58 degrees. So no complaints from me 

Have a great day everyone!

Josie
