Pentagenarians & Beyond: 9/15/24

This morning I did JS 30 Minute Fat Blaster, 30 minutes, 195 calories, 127 average heart rate, and 155 maximum heart rate. I worked out a little earlier because I had an appointment for a bone density test. I had just enough time to do the short cardio before I had to get dressed and leave.

Diane Sue, great job with Perfect Pump Lower Body, Lower Body bonus, extended stretch, and CDorner Mobility and Stretch.

Judy, I’m sorry that you are having shoulder and knee/hamstring issues. Light activity is a good idea.

Today I did CDorner Step Class 70's Music #315,53 minutes including multiple running to the door and answering phone calls. Actual workout is 43 minutes. This was 257 calories, heart rate 126/159, 4,150 steps. I followed with STS 2 No equipment abs and mini ball abs, 22 minutes, 58 calories. I finished with Flow with Mira Chest stretching/shoulder and neck relief, 22 minutes, 27 calories. Total time was 97 minutes, 342 calories.

Judy, nice work yesterday on a run for 30 minutes and today's 10-minute drills row and 30-minute Peloton Upper Body mobility workout. Sometimes it is good to take some recovery time.

Valerie, I just worry a bit because when I am leaning forward in a chair or on the floor my back starts hurting. From pictures the handlebars look like I would not be leaning that much. We will see when the bikes arrive. They should be here soon. I am sure there are adjustments that can be made. It should be good low impact exercise. Cathe has increased weights from what it was in the first STS workouts. I do not see her struggling, but I see no real reason to push that hard anymore. I used to be able to keep up pretty well except for the weights she used for biceps. I just need to do enough to help keep away the bone loss and strength for the joints.

Cathy, good job getting in XTrain mix of fire walkers, disc, ball and barre and then yesterday STS 2 Mat yoga between all of the busy stuff.

Carolyn nice work on JS 30 Minute Fat Blaster. They usually schedule my bone density on the same day that I get my mammogram at the Breast Care Center. It makes it handy getting it all done at once. My cardiovascular doctor scheduled me for the ultrasound before I see the doctor so unfortunately, I will have to be there very early, and it is a drive there. Not till January though.
 
diane sue there are a million possible things wrong with your back to cause pain. we probably dont have the same things wrong, but lumbar vertebrae 2 - 5 seem to be a common spot for problems. I developed scoliosis that worsened with age, probably due to slightly uneven leg length. the lumbar vertebrae get tilted and start pinching on nerves and on each other. when I ride, my back is slightly arched. that opens up more space between and its comfortable. I do not like sitting straight up on a bike. it feels wrong and kills my sit bones and soft tissue. a little forward lean ( for me) decreases pressure and feels better. you can adjust tilt on bike seats and get anatomical cut outs, with no cushioning to extreme cushioning. I like a pretty hard seat with cut outs. I can't stand "cushiony" seats. if the seat doesn't fit , go to a bike store and get something that fits better. they will have a lot to pick from. I dont like sitting with all weight on the seat, but split between the seat and the handle bars.

oh god, biceps. yes, cathe killed me always on biceps. I could match her on triceps just fine but not biceps. nope. I am getting too many failing body parts to be competitive anymore. try to keep decent fitness level, muscle mass and bone structure.
 
After four good nights sleep, I woke up at 3:00, tried again around 5 and didn't work, then at 6 I decided to try something totally different. Put on my workout clothes and robe, laid on top of the bed, light on and told my body we were napping. LOL Woke up to my 7:00 alarm and turned it off and promptly fell asleep until the one at 7:30. Was still groggy, but managed to get my smoothie made. I did ICE To the Mat stability ball and bands. Now, having my tea and then I'll try to accomplish something.

Today is my rest day. I went to the Farmer’s Market, but there wasn’t much that I wanted. It‘s that in between time of year for the vegetables. I did splurge on a loaf of cranberry pecan sourdough bread.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner step, STS 2 No Equipment Abs, Mini Ball Abs, and Flow with Mira. I have always done the bone density test through my gynecologist and they have their own machine. This time my primary care doctor wrote the order and it was the same location as my mammogram. It would be much more convenient to get them both on the same day. My breast cancer specialist schedules the mammogram. I’m going to try to get them done on the same day next time that it’s due.

Valerie, I don’t try to match Cathe’s weight. Sometime my weight is the same, but often I go a bit lighter.

Cathy, I’m sorry about the poor sleep. Great job getting up and doing To The Mat stability ball and bands.

Its odd how different getting routine testing is across the country. there is a specific breast center affiliated with the hospital here that I use. I schedule it myself although I get a reminder letter if I havent done it. they get results back to us here within hours so no more waiting a week for the paper copy to come in the mail. getting bone density is a different lab group and has to be scheduled thru my primary care person.
all vaccines we generally schedule ourselves and thru whatever pharmacy we want to use that has them available. I got covid a week or so ago. didnt get flu yet but its early for that to be circulating here so soon, but like covid, thru the costco pharmacy. just check in before I start shopping and usually within an hour its ready to go.
 
We decided to ride this afternoon, something we ordinarily would not do on a sunny saturday. the ride was our usual one and we got reminded the whole time about why we dont usually do this. Busy. busy. people, dogs, kids. a whole lot of folks out enjoying the sun and warmth. it was too cold this morning and we got busy with projects , big mistake. too late to go and have it be pleasant.
 
Today I did Perfect 30 Perfect Pump Upper Body, 28 minutes( I skipped the push ups) 92 calories. That is all I had time for. My son and grandson came over so ended my workout without the stretch. I was going to do one round of Raw Fine Tuning along with it. Tomorrow is my rest day.
