Pentagenarians & Beyond: 12/29/2024

Got up early enough that I was able to do an IMAX workout I put together before breakfast. After, I did STS 2 Standing Legs Plus Floor and LMR Restorative Yoga. We keep postponing what day we are going to my parents for a visit. All 3 of us, before Nick goes back, but the weather keeps interfering. We shouldn't be getting any significant snow today, so tomorrow should be good and we're even supposed to see some sun. Derek's work day started at -10 today. LOL

I've always hoped whoever adopted that dog was single and willing to devote their life to meeting his needs, because he was the very definition of stubborn. He was good on leash, unless he saw a squirrel, but low enough to the ground that I could brace myself and stop him. The last dog we had was so good. We have about 3/4 acre fenced yard, so he only went in the car to go to the vets, because he got car sick. Never had an accident, totally unaggressive, unless you were a small creature in HIS yard, and got along with all the cats. We adopted him at about a year with no knowledge of his background and we got so lucky.

Shannon I have the LMR Total Body workout on my schedule for tomorrow. There seems to be a fair amount of core focus all the workouts, even if it's just stabilizing. I signed up to get the emails with the yoga Nick's doing which sends out a link to each days routine, so if I want to I can keep doing it after he leaves.

Diane Sue 12 hour overnight shifts sounds so rough. Years ago I worked some overtime days that were 10 hours and those were hard probably in part because it was mainly sitting. They must leave him very tired.

Judy it's no guarantee, but the Humane Society here tests dogs with cats, if you are looking to adopt and have cats. Even if the dog is good though, it's no guarantee the cats will be happy. Though all ours accepted his presence only a couple actually liked him and Chester absolutely adored him, Sparty tolerated Chester, so it was rather one-sided, but Chester seemed oblivious. LOL

Carolyn I've always avoided doing those short cardio add ons, is that one mainly just cardio level or Hiit?

Hi Judy.

Well Nick got to the shower before me, so I'm just killing time now till he's done with his amazingly long shower. Flopsy is sound asleep on my mat, so I can't even put that away. I've lost control. LOL

I found the missing wrist wrap!! Under the dryer! I’m deep cleaning today. I’ll check back later for a regular post.

judy you are right on user guide , I did not. thank you. I did this morning and printed the workout i did yesterday. I dont get all anal about it but I like to record weights I use to make it easier the second time by having the right things ready. I think cathes weights were right for most of it, except one where I skipped weights because I couldn't find the 3's. or the yoga blocks. they have been located!.

after that miserable situation with the Dell computer, we got credited today for the full amount. and at the same time a survey from another department asking us how much we enjoyed the computer and experience. Geez!. not it was not fun!
Shannon, they are like socks, never truly gone, just out of the usual order. I usually find lost things eventually.

Today is my rest day. I’m catching up on housework that I skipped the last 2 weeks.

Judy, great job with 45 minute Peloton walk, 20 minutes of strength, and PT/stretching.

Shannon, great job with LMR Total Body and Lower Body Balance. I saw in an email that Jessica Smith still has some dvds on Amazon, but once they are gone she will not be producing any more. She will be all streaming after that.

Valerie, great job with Functional Upper Body. I print the workout pages from the User Guide and draw lines for the days and my weights used. The workout sheets in the back are too small for me to write notes.

Diane Sue, great job with CDorner High Energy Power Step, MM Biceps, LMR Upper Body foam rolling.

Cathy, great job with IMAX, STS 2 Standing Legs + Floor, and LMR Restorative Yoga.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Hi everyone. I guess today should be called my active rest day. I needed to clean under the sinks after the plumber installed my new faucets, and that got me on a roll, so I totally deep cleaned the house. I plan to do some nice, slow stretching soon. It’s a rather raw, windy day. Not terribly cold, in the 40s, but you know there are nice 40s, and then there are icky 40s. Today is the latter. A big weather change comes tomorrow. Rain probably all day, high in the 60s, and then BAM, we drop down into the teens and 20s all week.

Diane – Whew, I don’t know how your husband or you handle a schedule like that. It sounds awful. Will he be able to retire soon? He must be tired all the time, and you too.

Cathy – What sort of Imax workout did you do? All the step portions? Goodness, -10? And I’m complaining about the teens, LOL. Good thing he got a free jacket, right? Brrrr. Yes, I agree about the LMR core work. But sometimes the old abs just need a good, old fashioned lie on the floor ab workout, you know?

Valerie – Congrats on getting that full credit back. Sort of a small victory after all those headaches. I hope you filled that survey out and added comments if they gave you a comment box! Please tell me why I went all the way up into the woods to look for that brace but never thought to pull the dryer out! Sigh.

Carolyn – I hope your housework doesn’t take all day so you can get some rest in on your rest day. Thanks for the heads up about JS’s DVDs. I may do some exploring.

Hi to Judy!

I woke up with arthritis pain so decided against my plan for lower body and triceps. Instead I did LMR Core Fusion, 31 minutes, 99 calories and LMR functional Pilates Bonus Lower Body foam roller, 18 minutes, 29 calories. This one uses the foam roller for warm up and then a short lower body typical foam roll section then some leg work with the foam roller. Total time was 49 minutes, 128 calories. This helped as my knee hurt in back and tight down through my calf and left elbow hurt when I woke and I had to work to straighten out my arm. I needed movement. Cold temps do not help.

Cathy, nice work on I Max and LMR restorative yoga. That is a nice, relaxed yoga that does not feel so much like yoga to me. I was thinking it would be a good bedtime yoga. That part with lying with legs in the butterfly position does not work for me though. My thighs will not drop low enough to touch the yoga blocks no matter where I move them to. Our weather is going from 54 right now down to 16 at 7am with rain! I doubt I will be going out to church plus I need to be here to hopefully get my husband some dinner between a meeting at 2 and him needing to leave for his 12 hour shift. Not sure if it will be feasible. We tend to get more ice than we do snow. Some dogs do take patience. Mine was tough training. One time I was so frustrated, and my husband said he could take her back where she was on the list for the green mile. I was frustrated but determined. She is the best dog we ever had and it was all worth it.

Valerie, glad the worksheets are handy to have. I just printed up the weight ones and the page with the premixes and times on it. Usually, I give in and over time print the whole manual except the first and last page which are the cover page and logo on the back. I only print up rotations if I plan on doing one.
That is good that you got your refund.

Carolyn, I am still trying to get things in order now that we got all of the Christmas stuff put up. Enjoy your rest day.

Shannon, I often start to straighten out something or clean something and before I know it I am cleaning all kinds of stuff. It sounds like we have the same weather. It is windy out which makes it not feel nice at all. My husband retired once a long time ago. He went back to working though.

Hi to Judy.
