Pentagenarians & Beyond: 03/30/2025

Today I did Jane Adams Gentle Yoga for 18 minutes. Yesterday was a rest day.

Diane Sue, great job with STS 2 Body Parts Triceps, Mobility 1, CDorner Upper Body Mobility, CDorner Cardio Fast Step, and Raw Stretch Flow.

Judy, great job with 20 minutes of full body strength and 45 minute Peloton ride.

Cathy, great job with your IMAX workout, Live Legs: Strength and Stamina, Live Kick Punch Cardio, Lower Body Balance discs, and foam rolling.

Hello to Valerie and Shannon.

Good morning, ladies. I'll try to get back into the swing of things this week. Last week I racked up a lot of overtime, but I only missed one workout. The benefits of working from home! I quit long enough to walk Sara, exercise, etc., and then hopped back on the computer. This weekend was pretty hot and muggy. I wore shorts when I went on my walk each day.

Carolyn - It sounds like you had a nice, relaxing weekend.

Valerie - I'm glad you're feeling better, but I'm sorry DH's knee is messed up. I hope that gets straightened out.

Hello to Cathy, Judy and Diane.

I'm on a roll since I posted yesterday on last weeks. No workout for me today, as we lost power last night around 6:30. I came down to my parents this morning. Consumers Power isn't updating their website, so I'm truly not optimistic that it will actually come on it 40 minutes.

Today I did Jessica Smith’s Cardio Hit, her version of kickboxing. That was 30 minutes, 211 calories burned, average heart rate 137, and maximum heart rate 158. We had HVAC service scheduled for this morning so I needed to get it done early. We are also waiting for the storms to move into our area so I had a feeling he would come early, which he did.

Valerie, great job with the park walk. I’m glad that you’re feeling better. That’s too bad about your husband’s knee pain.

Shannon, I’m glad that your work load is getting back to normal.

Cathy, I hope that your power comes on soon. It’s good that you can visit your parents.

Hello to Diane Sue and Judy.

well I will say i'm sorry my DH is having knee pain too because he is an awful patient!. he was doing nothing odd according to him . so he has a brace on today and is icing and hoping it improves. its not been 24 hours and he's impatiently wondering why it isnt better yet.

cathy since you are out of power you probably cant see this but I read early this morning you ( michigan) had a big ice storm and power is out over a large area. good luck with that. ice is such a mess because it gets in the way of all efforts to fix anything. good luck keeping things under control.

not sure what I will do today, thinking an upper body workout and maybe a short spin as a warm up.

ETA short spin finished and stacked upper body one and a half sets of reps. then therapy work.

Rest Day yesterday. Today I did P30 Upper Body with the bonus core and extended stretch, 49 minutes, 180 calories, heart rate 103/160. I also did the LMR foam roller which I did not turn on my Garmin for.

Carolyn, nice job on Sunday's Morning Yoga with Jane Adam, and today's Jessica Smith Cardio Hiit. I need to have my HVAC guy come out soon. I have them every year to go over things and it needs the insulation wrap around the pipe redone. He said he would get it this time.

Valerie, nice work on the park walk yesterday. Sorry your husband is having knee problems. Those things sometimes take more than a few hours to improve.

Shannon, good for you keeping up your workouts through all of the overtime. Overtime on a computer for me would be me nodding off and making a line of one letter my finger got stuck on.

Cathy, I hope you get power again soon. Our electric company put out an email that they were doing an upgrade, and their app would not be working.

Ended up doing what I planned yesterday. DH's knee is better so whatever he did is not "fatal" and just needs some time to heal. I have a f/up medical appt today. so will do something later.
I hope everyone has gotten thru this episode of bad weather, if not with power at least otherwise ok. being in a far northwest corner of the country our weather is different and pretty benign right now. montana is getting more snow. next visit we will be able to walk and maybe ride depending on how wet things are on the dirt roads.

our cat issues have settled way down. letting him outside when he wants during the day is helping a lot. he does not go far and comes when called or waits by the door to come in. he is a lot of fun and even DH enjoying him some of the time. he is just so darn cute!! at first he was a terror in the evening but now he sits on someones lap ( alternates between us) and purrs. Im so glad I got him and kept him even though the first month was kinda rough. DH more than Puss.

diane sue hope harvey is getting used to his crate.

Today I did STS 2.0 Giant Sets Total Body, timesaver #2. That was 37 minutes and 153 calories burned. My average heart rate was 115 and maximum heart rate was 140.

We survived yesterday’s severe weather okay, but it was a very stressful afternoon. Our phones kept going off with tornado warnings for our area and we spent some time in our “safe place“. A tornado did touch down not far from us, but no one was injured.

Valerie, nice job with the short spin, Stacked Sets Upper Body, and therapy work.

Diane Sue, great job with P 30 Upper Body, bonus core, extended stretch, and LMR foam roller.

Hello to Cathy, Shannon, and Judy.
Glad you are ok. I don't ever want to be anywhere near a tornado.

Yesterday I did 20 minutes of easy Peloton rides, 45 minutes of Peloton Full Body Strength and a 45-minute Restorative Yoga class. Today I did 30 minutes of rowing.

We were fortunate not to lose power in the storms on Sunday night but there were several outages around us. It looks like we are in for another round of bad weather starting tomorrow and going through Thursday.

Carolyn-Great job with Gentle Yoga, Jessica Smith’s Cardio Hit and STS 2.0 Giant Sets Total Body, timesaver #2. I’m glad you made it through the bad weather without any issues. It’s very stressful when there are tornado warnings. Thank you for starting the thread this week.

Valerie-Great job with your park walk, spin, Stacked Sets Upper Body, and therapy work. I’m glad that your husband’s knee is better and that the cat issues have settled down. That’s great news!

Diane Sue-Great job with P30 Upper Body with the bonus core and extended stretch, and LMR foam roller.

Shannon- I did see Cathe’s video on FB. I’m really excited about the Elevated series too.

Deanna-I agree, I love Cathe’s take on functional training.

Cathy-I’m sorry about your power outage. I hope you get it back soon.

Today I did LITE Cardio Party, 40 minutes, 267 calories, heart rate 139/161, 3,857 steps. I finished with CDorner Mobility she did today and skipped the meditation part, 26 minutes, 55 calories. Total Time 66 minutes, 317 calories. Cardio has always been a cardio workout with the blend of hi/lo and boxing. I used to do it a lot. I preordered the LMR 2 workouts Sunday.

Valerie, I hope the appointment went well today. I am glad things have worked out with your cat and you and your husband are enjoying him now. There is always adjustments with new pets. Harvey is amazing. We got the new large metal crate, I stuffed all of his bedding in it and we helped him in once and now all we have to do is say go to bed and he gets in on his own. I am guessing someone else had crate trained him. Although he put up a fight when we tied to put him in Gerties old crate that has closed in walls. He goes to the doggy door when he needs out, but still wants us to give it a little push before he goes through it. The only things we need work on is exercise and stimulation with toys and stuff. He is definitely a chewer and goes from one toy to another. Oh, and getting him to walk on the leash well. he wants to go around us and between our legs and cling to us rather than go forward. We got a short leash to help keep him at our side for now. He is a cuddler. It all makes me wonder at his background. He whines when one of us is out of the room. Not at night though thank goodness.

Carolyn, I am glad you were safe. When we had the storm and hail the other day I had candles and a lighter set out, shoes on just in case. At the moment I do not remember where our backpack with stuff in it just in case a tornado hits. I never go down in the shelter. It is under my car. It is worrisome when I am here alone. Nice job on STS 2 Giant Sets Total Body timesaver #2 today.

Judy, yesterday's 20 minutes of Peloton rides, 45 minutes of Peloton Full Body Strength and 45 minute restorative yoga class, and today's 30 minutes of rowing.

Power outage lasted until about 3:00 yesterday afternoon. We just had intense thunderstorms here Sunday. The ice storm was in northern lower Michigan, and it has done horrendous damage and it's going to take days and in some cases weeks to clean up. Our energy company still has 57,000+ with no power, both down here and up there, and they aren't the power company in the areas that got hit. Michigan is getting hit again today with rain/storms down state and more snow upstate. People traveling from the lower to upper peninsula are just stuck. The bridge has to keep closing because of ice falling from the cables. Ice chunks that if they hit a car could kill people. And they are stuck in cities with minimal to no power. There's also little to no gas, because so many people are running generators.

there has been very little coverage of the Michigan ice storm here. i know what a mess they can be with trees, poles, lines falling and repairs very slow because driving anywhere is so impossible and awful with power out everywhere. we get along reasonably well during bad weather events. we have a generator,a camper, outside storage shed with water, extra food, clothing. our biggest risk here is a big earthquake ..we are on a tectonic plate boundary and many other fault lines in the area, so from past history ... it could come tomorrow or not for 200 years or maybe never. hard to plan for.

Hope you are getting things sorted, Cathy, along with for your parents.

sorry got interrupted there and didnt finish.

did a 20 min spin on the bike and about 20 min of weights. need to shop and will finish more later.
my appt yesterday went ok. the discomfort in my back is a "par for the course" sort of problem that happens often. i have a fusion, and the vertebrae above and below it can get irritated because they are stressed more than previously because the motions of the immobilized vertebrae get transferred to them. I can do all the things Ive been doing to help it and if needed could get more spinal injections to settle the nerve/muscle down. i have a back brace, do my therapy, use lidocaine patch, heating pad and a nsaid cream.

shannon get prepared in case forecasting is accurate. our big ice storm a week ago didnt materialize but we did plan for it. flooding is very tough to deal with. especially with intense rain and wind. sometimes they over hype these things but theres no predicting where or if it will be accurate. diane sue thats great Harvey is settling in so quickly.

So much for getting back into the swing of things. I was in Little Rock all day yesterday and didn’t even think about posting. Monday I lifted weights on my own, followed by X-Train abs #2. Yesterday I did ICE Chiseled Lower Body Blast, but changed the weight segments to low impact cardio moves. It’s a great cardio workout that way.

We are about to join in on the bad weather. I’m not looking forward to it. We could get up to 12 inches of rain in three or four days. Most of the state is under a flood warning. We could see 80 mph winds and golf ball sized hail. There’s also a chance for long-track tornadoes. It’s been really windy all day, with some 40 mph gusts. The real fun begins late this afternoon.

Diane – I remember reading that your costochondritis was flaring up. How are you doing? Yeah, OT on the computer can really wear a person out, that’s for sure. I’m so glad Harvey is doing so well. He sounds like a great dog.

Valerie – I’m glad DH’s knee is better. How did your appointment go? I’m really glad Puss is settling in. That’s awesome that he likes to sit on your lap now.

Carolyn – I sure am glad you’re okay after the storm. Springtime sure does have its negative side. I hope you’re done with the bad weather. You need a break.

Judy – I’m glad you didn’t lose power in your storms the other day, and I hope it stays on today. Whew, the whole nation is being slammed.

Cathy – I’m glad your power is back on and that you don’t have to deal with ice. Holy cow, the ice on the bridge sounds horrendous.

Nice job on the workouts, everyone. Let’s hope the power stays on so we won’t have to miss any, LOL.
