Pentagarians & Beyond: W/B 5/22

Hi everyone--

This morning I did Live Gloved Up and Ready (50 min.).

I will have to check out PHAT 1, Deb. I did like PHAT 2. Yes, I think it is 80 degrees today and tomorrow even hotter. No spring, just leap into summer. Yes, John is a very narcissistic character and very irritating. But I doubt the writer will get rid of him because he creates so many emotional complications.

Valerie, I have a jacket like that. Bought it ages ago when we went to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. I took it with me to Rancho La Puerta too, but it never rained, so it just stayed in its pocket.

Diane Sue, I have heard that you should leave your devices alone in the evening if you want to have a good night's sleep. I try to ignore them after dinner. It's hard, though, if you feel the urgent need to fix something.

Well, I certainly am enjoying my summer dress collection!

Good evening ladies,

Yesterday morning I ran on TM for 2 miles then did SB Bis and Tris followed up with Old School Arms on Ball. I had an eye appt in the late afternoon and my eyes were dialated. Needless to say did not hope on my ipad to read anything when I go home. This morning I ran again 2 miles and tonight I'll do whatever SB has scheduled. Not sure what that is yet.

Valerie...with what you recently went thru with your iphone I do not blame you for worrying about your pictures on your computer. I love our IT department. I sit right next to them and have learned so much thru the years. Love just dropping my personal laptop or my son's and even my son's GF's off to them and they totally take care of things for me. It is great.

Diane Sue...I love lilacs! Had them in my bouquet when I got married. I too wish they would bloom longer. We do not have a Sprouts in this area. They sound wonderful though. I just bought from Amazon Muscle Butter (high protien spread). Have you heard of it? I bought Carrot Cake flavor. It will be in tomorrow and I can't wait to try it.

Lynda....was so sad this last episode. Yes I too was disapointed in Bran. I have never had an epidural. Having one scares me! Thanks for the reminder of the 3rd Passage Book. I just grabbed it for my kindle. Since it is so long I may grab the audible version also. I like using the wispersync to switch back and forth depending if I am driving in my car or reading on my kindle. I actually just started reading the Harry Potter books. Never read them but always wanted too. When I finish the first one I'll read the Cronin then continue on with the HP books. I read the same thing about disturbing your sleep by looking at devices before bedtime. Beautiful weekend is coming our way!

Deb...I agree that she should make her Phat workouts into DVD's. I would love a series of DVD's using her Live Class format with all different premixes. I think this would be fun. Christopher arrives Friday early afternoon and leaves Monday afternoon. My son's GF's parents are coming over Saturday night for some cards and fun (and a little alcohol ). The kids will not be there as they are both working. Love we get along so well with her parents. I have Friday, Monday and Tuesday off! Psyched about this!!!! Bob and I started watching Bates Motel. We have seen 3 episodes so far and love it. Very creepy and intense so far.

Hi to Judy and Josie!

Today I did Ice Boot Camp timesaver mix no upper, 35 minutes, 206 calorie. I used Cathe's weights throughout the workout. I then did 21 Day Fix Extreme Lower body , 34 minutes, 225 calories. I did modify the jumping and used the rebounder for things like squat jumps. I finished off with Rapid Fire kick, box, and burn core and stretch, 16 minutes, 58 calories. I used an 8# medicine ball for this. She uses a 6 and I had a choice of 5 or 8. Total time was 85 minutes and calories burned 489.

Valerie, it seems like the elliptical would help with the hiking. I am not sure how you could build some endurance muscle in the lower legs. Maybe high reps for calves. A weight vest for while doing the treadmill climb. My tread can be pretty tough. That is why my knee started hurting.

Linda, I have read a lot of stuff by Ben Greenfield , Colin Champ MD, and Chris Kresser about sleep and turning off the devices and television early. I am bad about trying to do stuff late and then I am still doing it in my head all night. I really should learn from that. Maybe I should go back to reading in the evening which is usually a good guarantee that I will fall asleep soon. I used to sit up half the night and read all of the time. My problem is that it is so easy to download books from the library or Amazon that I read them on my tablet. Some things I feel I just have to have the book itself though. Besides it is good for keeping my eyes trained to read without the backlight of the tablet or the extra large print.
Last night I did just sit for awhile and left everything. I read some of Helen Steiner Rice A Collection Of Joy before I went to bed.

Lori, that was a nice sounding workout. You are lucky to have someone to help with your computers. The Computer Tech place we have taken ours to for years has raised their prices so much. My husband was having a hard time getting his to load up and turn on and there was viruses on it. It was just getting very slow. I took it in for him and it cost me 175 dollars just to have it cleaned up and it is still not running great. He tried one of the programs our Avast had that cleaned things up as well. I really was worried about having Windows 10 load and problems that I would need help with if I could not come up with solutions online myself. Most stuff I do, I just have to research.
I will have to check out the Muscle Butter. It sounds interesting. I was just checking Amazon for a BCAA powder like my Melaleuca Boost I use that is 4:1:1 ratio and has 3000 mg of L-glutamine in it. It tastes good and I have been using it for several months now with my workouts. I couldn't find one. I am wanting to quit the membership to Melaleuca since I am no longer helping a friend that was selling for them. I have to spend at least 65 dollars a month to keep getting membership prices. I do have certain products of theirs that I love though.
I have used Kimera Koffee that has nootropics in it for extra energy and no caffeine crash. It is kind of expensive though and it is the only nootropics product I am willing to try because some seem like they might be unsafe.

Deb, this is especially for you.... DH and I rode this morning, 26 miles on the usual trail. about 1/3 of the way, he started hollering.....he'd been stung by something under his helmet. He must have caught a bee or yellowjacket in one of the helmet vents, and it stung him on the top of his head. never saw what it was. so that is both of us, stung while riding, in a year's time. I got stung last april in Idaho. so yes, John should always carry his epi pen when riding. both of us were riding fast when it happened, both times, on a paved trail, didn't do anything to attract the problem.

I don't do a lot of computer things in the evening. might finish up a few emails. I find evening telephone calls disturb my sleep, just get me all revved up. . . I am not a fan of electronics in bed. I read paper books, no electronics.

John was such a jerk in Last Tango. I almost wish they'd do another season.
We are working thru Breaking Bad. If you watched it and liked it at all, re-watching it is worth it. I am getting so much more continuity this second time through. we saw it over 5 years previously and I forgot so much between seasons.

Lorie, the Muscle Butter flavors look really good. They would be nice on celery, slices of fruit, or waffles. My Performance Paleo has one that is a Mocha Protein Almond Butter recipe. I need to start experimenting and trying some out. The price at Amazon is not bad though and doesn't require work. I put it in my list. I thought the pumpkin caramel one looked good. They used dates for the sweetener.

Valerie, I always feel kind of keyed up after talking on the phone in the evenings. I don't do it often but, it usually is with someone either family or a friend from out of state and ends up being a long chat.

Good morning,

No workout yesterday and agility class was cancelled last night. I guess a rest day for me.

Diane Sue, I am not too sure about that "file ownership" info....it was a little too technical for me to understand. I wish we had something like a Sprouts near us. My cousin that was also "forced" into Win 10, just got a phishing virus. She thought it was Microsoft telling her that she had a virus, and to call them to fix it...so she did....Not a Good Thing....she let them take over her computer to "fix" it and they told her it would be $150. She said she only let them take it over because I had done it with the Win 10 issues I was having. I said that I was talking to the REAL Microsoft....hers was an imposter....they actually use Microsoft's logo and everything....she ended up having to take her computer to her IT friend...who cleaned it for her etc.

Valerie, I agree with Diane Sue...I would think using the elliptical would work both your lower and upper leg...if it was done at a difficult enough level. That light weight gear is amazing. I Googled Last Tango in Halifax and it appears that the writer is going to do a 4th season, but got delayed in starting the writing. They said she was busy with Scott & Bailey. I have requested season 3 from the library. and need to get back to Scott & Bailey. I only watched season 1 so far of that one. Why do we like British shows so much? I have not watched Breaking Bad...it's probably not free with Prime...

Lynda, I think you will like Phat 1....I got the highest calorie burn I have ever gotten from a weight workout with that one. I have also read that you should not use any devices at least 3 hours before bed.....however, I use my Nook to read a lot and like to read to fall asleep, so that makes the avoidance hard for me.

Lori, it looks like your TM will be staying right where it is. :). It sounds like you have a lovely weekend planned. One thing I do miss about work is the IT folks....great people and a good resource. I read the Harry Potter books until I think the 4th....I should go back at some point and start over with the first. John does that all the time...he re-reads books like that. I wish Cathe would do a LIVE rotation each month along with her DVD one. I have not done a DVD since signing up for Live. Muscle Butter sounds interesting..have to check it out.

Hi to Josie & Judy,

What are everyone's plans for the weekend?

Take care,

Deb I'd read that about needing more time to write for another season of Happy Valley. same writer. She writes life- like dialogue that's subtle but understandable, real conversations. creates characters who act and respond like people and look like real people.. they aren't perfect and make mistakes and miscalculations. so many "Hollywood" series have a fleet of look-alike actors doing and saying predictable things in contrived situations. just tedious. Breaking Bad is an exception. we are getting it on Netflix disk, didn't look for it elsewhere but I don't remember seeing it anywhere. Highly recommend!

we 'll do some shopping and yard work. maybe a mt bike or a road ride. We never go anywhere on holiday weekends, too crowded, awful traffic.
You cousin is lucky she has an IT friend. (Wish I had one....) too funny. ..an article today about how Microsoft is getting bad press for pushing people in a tricky way into win 10 with many reacting like they found " a horses head in their bed".

I've used the elliptical and treadmill and it helps some, but really, the only thing that works for hiking is doing it. If I did it more often it would help more. I don't get much mindless TV to watch anymore. I can't work out to just music and need to watch "something" light. I used to watch cooking shows, Oprah, that sort of thing where I was watching something not complicated. I don't like to watch movies, can't seem to pay enough attention.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did Ice Total Body Metabolic (47:53).

Lori, I loved the Harry Potter books. They seem to get increasingly more adult in tone and content as they progress--maybe darker is the best word. I still remember reading the last one sitting on the beach at the Jersey Shore and crying. No one really noticed.

Deb, I watched the first episode of Doctor Thorne and I know I will enjoy it. Julian Fellowes, of DA fame, adapted a Trollope novel and he introduces the series. I still haven't looked at PHAT 1. We just received a very long warning about phishing from our IT at Williams with plenty of explanations of what to look for that looks fishy.

Valerie, Emily Nussbaum, who writes on TV for the New Yorker just gave high praise for Happy Valley in the most recent issue. You can stream BB now at Netflix, but I guess you prefer the disks? My BIL just came home after doing 800 miles on the Appalachian Trail. He said the mountains in VA were relentless because they were up and down and up and down and there didn't seem to be a nice space of same height ground to cover. Still--I was totally impressed.

Diane Sue, you must be liking the 21 Day Fix. I think I did the Ice Bootcamp only once. I have been doing a lot of LIVE and neglecting my dvds.

Very warm here today and it sounds like we are headed for a spell of HHH. I don't mind too much because spring has been such a cold one.

Today's workout was Ice Low Impact Sweat workout 1, 28 minutes, 158 calories max hr. 142. I wanted to do floor cardio today. I then did 21 Day Fix Extreme Cardio, 32 minutes, 235 calories, max heart rate 153. I finished off with 21 Day Fix Exteme Hardcore abs 11 minutes, 51 calories. Total time 71 minutes, 444 calories. Tomorrow I wanted to do Ice Upper Body and maybe the upper body portions from Ice Bootcamp that I skipped to do lower body. I will probably add in some yoga. I keep looking over the 21 Day Fix Extreme meal plan and recipes and they seem kind of bland and uninteresting. Most of those recipes are in the Fixate book and Hammer and Chisel. I looked at her turkey meatball recipe and made some from Julie Bauer's Paleo cookbook that way I didn't have grains put in them and they had a lot more spices to them. They were really good with the cauliflower mash but I did not care so much for the tomato sauce over it. Today I had leftover meatballs on salad with a boiled egg and Whole 30 ranch dressing. I can see how the 21 Day Fix Extreme meal plan would help lean out though.

Deb, that is terrible that someone is trying to use Windows 10 problems to get money out of people. I really haven't read all of the taking ownership stuff. I would not attempt something like that unless I am sure I know what they are talking about first. Maybe more research on it first.

Valerie, I have a hard time watching a movie when I am on cardio equipment. I can't concentrate on both. I listen to fitness and health podcasts or use the time to preview workouts. On the treadclimber I bought a surf desk that attaches and I can read on my tablet or look at my computer. I do not enjoy cardio equipment very much. I prefer doing it with a workout and listening to something else once I know the workout. I guess that is why I like Home Gym Intervals with Kelly Coffey so much. I can get on and off the equipment and it kills the boredom. I used to run a lot of miles on my treadmill doing hills and walking backwards etc.. I tried going running with my husband and I was really having a hard time. Partly because he did a brief prance and stretch and took off. I like a long warm up. It is a whole lot different on the body running on pavement. So, I guess actually doing the hiking is the best way to train for long hikes :)

Lynda, while I had the live workouts I pretty much ignored my dvds too. It is fun having the opportunity to do something new each day. It helps break up the monotony. I am enjoying the 21 Day fix extreme. I really have to watch the impact though. I am glad that she has a modifier. I previewed the Cardio Fix Extreme so I knew that I could modify. I used the rebounder for some of those moves and those flying jacks with the dumbbells did not happen. I just did jumping and overhead presses on the rebounder.

Good afternoon ladies!

This morning I ran 2 miles then did SB Arms. Wanted to get my SB challenge done so I would not feel I needed to workout when I got home. Too hot for that.

Deb...yes I am so thankful my DS never got around to picking up the TM. I have not really used it much at all the past few years. But needed to change my routine to help with Chester and the TM has been perfect. Plus I am enjoying running again. Next week going to increase a half a mile then the week after another half so I am consistently running 3 miles. I like to get there gradually. :). Like you and Lynda I hardly ever do DVD's since I started with Live. They have so much fun factor and I am drawn to them. I am going to try out today's workout tomorrow.

Valerie...I have never seen an episode of Breaking Bad. Everyone always raves about it. I am the same way about watching something when I workout. I get so bored listening to music. If I watch something on my ipad the workout flies by. BTW...still watching Dark Shawdows. I am on episode 903 out of 1245! I may cry when I am done.

Lynda....very funny you mentioned the Doctor Thorne. A coworker was just telling me about it today. I will be checking this one out. I finished the 1st HP and enjoyed it. Now on to the 3rd Cronin book. This may take me all Summer. Very hot today but not complaining. I am so looking forward to the Summer.

Diane Sue...the Muscle Butter came today and I think it is absolutely horrible. I gagged when I tried my second bite. Not sure if something is wrong with it. You know when nuts are old and they have that rancid taste. Well that is what it reminded me of. I sampled at work Birthday Cake flavor and that was good and I should have stuck with that flavor. I am going to return it. For 13.99 I should not be gagging!

My friend arrives tomorrow. Looking forward to the long weekend. I am taking Tuesday off too. :) Nice little staycation for me. We finally got around to buying a dishwasher. Can you believe it took us this long? We bought a Bosch and it is being delivered and installed on Tuesday. To tell you the truth it took us a while because we really do not have that many dishes so it was no big deal washing by hand. But it is time so we did.

Ho to Judy and Josie!

Hi Everyone,

This week I've been doing SB Challenge workouts and Spinervals. Also, I've been getting some short walks in, since the weather has gotten so nice. It's been in the 80's and sunny all week. Unfortunately, it looks like we may get some storms over the weekend.

Deb-I love PHAT 2! I will try PHAT 1 soon. I read a lot of Kindle books too. It would be hard for me not to use my electronic devices for 3 hours before going to bed.

Lori-Great job on the running! I've never seen Breaking Bad either. I don't blame you for sending the Muscle Butter back if it's rancid. I've seen it at Vitamin Shoppe and thought about trying it.

Diane Sue-I am really bad about using my iPhone before I go to sleep. I use it like an iPad, so I read, check Facebook, etc. It's a hard habit to get out of. No wonder I can't sleep. I really should try to get out of that habit. Kimera coffee sounds interesting. I tried one called InstantEdge, which was pretty good.

Lynda- I need to check out Dr. Thorne too. It sounds very good.

Valerie-We probably won't go anywhere this holiday weekend either. The traffic will be crazy here.

Hi to Josie!

Good morning,

A nice day yesterday, John went fishing early in the morning, he was back by noon and we went to lunch. It was around 83....summer has arrived early.

Valerie, have you watched Happy Valley as well? I agree with your description of some of the TV shows here. Another one I believe you recommended or mentioned was Justified. I am hooked on that one. I wonder if there are places like that in Kentucky...I guess there must be. Not sure if I would compare how we were forced to get Win 10 as finding a horse's head in your bed...LOL. But funny :). I used to watch taped shows of Regis & Kelly when I was on the treadmill....but that was years ago...now I like the workouts that you follow, like Coach Sean's, iTrain, or the Walk Fit/Run ones I have.

Lynda, was the ICE Total Body Metabolic a Live version? How was it? Maybe it was because the HP books were getting more darker was why I stopped reading them. I just remember John getting the latest at the time, and me putting off reading it until I admitted I didn't have any interest in continuing the series. I know one reason I like British TV shows is because they have fewer episodes in a season. The Dr Thorne one is only 4 episodes...that is a little short! I like 6 or 8.

Diane Sue, you keep doing 21 Day Fix workouts, and I want to go back to those that I have but I can't seem to move away from the Live workouts. Actually, the phishing thing that happened to my cousin was not related to WIN 10....it was just one of those pop-ups that came up, it had the Microsoft logo, and it told her she had a virus and to call a phone number to get rid of it. She though it was really Microsoft...so she did...and she let them take over her computer to check it....(probably when they gave her the virus) then told her it would be $150 to remove it. She hung up and called her IT friend. I have not done Home Gym Intervals in a long time...thanks for mentioning it. So many forgotten workouts!

Lori, great job on the TM and your plan to increase mileage. How is Nilla doing? Does she seem know that Chester is gone now? I guess I will pass on the Muscle Butter. :). Wow, I can't believe you did not have a dishwasher...we don't have that many dishes either...I run mine maybe once a week, if that. Kind of defeats the purpose I guess...let us know what you think of yesterdays Live workout. I watched the clip...looks like a lot of impact/modifying needed.

Judy, same here with the weather...we are supposed to get storms on most days. I think there is some validity to the "blue light" before bed idea....but like you, I always read before sleeping, it helps me to relax...and unwind so I can sleep, now they say that light keeps you awake...you can't win!

Hi Josie!

Not sure what is up for today, it really looks like rain so no outside work...maybe clean the freezer...

Take care,

Diane sue, that is right about movies and cardio. I miss dialogue and my mind wanders during movies. end up not following them well. Like Lori, I get bored with music. I used to watch cooking shows, or talk shows, things that didn't need a lot of focus. we only get a couple channels on our basement TV since we dropped cable. sometimes a cooking show but not reliable. I've watched other workouts. to reliably do treadmill or elliptical for half an hour or more, I need something to watch. Lynda, we use apple TV and it does not stream with Prime even though we subscribe to Prime for the faster shipping. We like the Netflix disk program so we have disks to watch while traveling, and there is way more choice thru the disk library than there is streaming.
Deb, BB is so darn good. not at all like the British things. Hollywood can do good stuff but so many times they don't. I got a bit lost on Justified after a while. again, too many long gaps between seasons and I lost interest before the end.
Lori congrats on the Bosch DW. I love mine. I run it every evening. it's quiet, does a great job. Tell me if yours has the easily removable filter system.
We did a mt bike yesterday, a little shorter than we've been doing. about 90 minutes. today we will get in some shopping early, hopefully avoiding weekend crowds. I've gotten to hate holiday weekends.. the traffic is even worse than usual seems to bring out the worst in drivers.

wow 800 miles on the AT? that is impressive. It takes so much planning.... you need to ship food packages to pick-up locations all along the way, unless you have a support team driving along while you hike. you need to stick to your walking schedule or you will have too little or too much food. Imagine planning and packing all your meals months ahead of time, packaging them and shipping them months ahead. imagine how important your boots are, and what a disaster it is if some piece of equipment fails, like your stove or water purifier. DH and I have done a week -10 days a couple times. a lot more 3-4 day trips. It gets complicated quickly! we always had to use our own vehicles and just getting a car at each end of your route takes a huge amount of driving. What is the book/movie (Nick knolte, Robert redford) hiking part of the AT? He talked in there about the relentless up and down.

Hi Ladies,

Sorry for not posting sooner, but I have been busy with getting my bike ready for the ride and packing and buying the last minute toiletries.
I did my usual workouts this week:
Monday - rest
Tuesday - spinning and Karina
Wednesday - spinning
Thursday - bodypump and karina
Friday -rest
Today I have to pick up my bike from the shop, I bought new wheels and can't wait to try it out tomorrow on our last training ride. The bike felt great after just a tune up and the tech said that it will feel like a brand new bike after today :),

All of you ladies can follow the ride on Aidslifecycle.org. Thank you so much for supporting me once again :).

Yesterday I felt a bit burnt out, I guess that I'm at the point of just getting it over with. My training ride leader and I decided that when we get back from the ride we are going to start hiking and running. We will need a change after putting in so many miles on our bikes.

Judy, I take BCAA in a pill form. My trainer recommended it and it has really helped. She did not recommend the powder, she said it tasted terrible. I get mine at Whole foods. I'm on Facebook, friend me so that you can see all the pictures from the ride that I will be posting daily.
Maybe you can share them with everyone here.

Lori, I hate any kind of butters, I do get them for my DD though. My DD is our IT person here :). It sounds like you are in for a great weekend with all the visitors coming over. Enjoy!

Valerie, my running partners and I used to train on sand dunes when we were getting ready for our marathons and I use to see a lot of hikers doing the same with their backpack full of rocks. It really helped me going up the hills.

Diane Sue, the BCAA comment was for you.

Garance, have fund in CA. I don't know if you will be able to enjoy your summer dresses where you are going. It has been a bit cool here.
I would love to read the article that you wrote for Gastronomica, where can I find it? Have you ever read Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel? This book takes me back to my grandmother Carmelita's kitchen :).

Deb, I have not been on my TM or my spin bike in ages. My husband Norman was supposed to use the spin bike, so I did not change the pedals to accommodate my spins shoes and it is just collecting dust. He needs to get himself a new tennis partner to get his cardio in. His partner is now 78 years old and his body is breaking down. He used to be a tennis pro but lately he has had a lot of health issues. My DH needs a younger partner.

We are leaving for SF on June 3rd.

Have a great weekend everybody!

Josie

Today have lots of catch up cleaning that I want to do plus I am going to try to make a trip to Sprouts. I hope they are not still extremely busy. I would like to get some fish and hazelnuts. I did Ice Chiseled Upper body going a bit heavier on a lot of the weights this time, 42 minutes, 142 calories I then did Ice Bootcamp Circuit Timesaver #8 Upper and abs , 28 minutes, 128 calories using heavier on most weights. Total time was 70 minutes and calories burned 270.
My two grandchildren that are turning 16 this month are having a double birthday party this weekend so I have made two Ice Cream cakes, one at my grandson's request. One is a salted caramel brownie ice cream cake and the other is predominantly all chocolate with chocolate truffles.

Hi everyone--

This morning I did Live Cardio Core Circuit (46 min.)

Deb, I did the Ice disk for total body metabolic yesterday. I really like this workout a lot and haven't tried the Live version (I think she has one called Ice Metabolic Mish Mosh or something like that). I started on the Harry Potter books at the recommendation of a colleague in Medieval literature. They are fantasy like the Tolkien books, and if you aren't into fantasy, I can see why they would not appeal to you. I love Tolkien as well and I think I've read the Lord of the Rings 4 times. I read them in grad school for the first time and then re-read them with each of my sons and then a 4th time before the films started coming out. I loved Dune too. Unfortunate that Lynch was chosen to do the film version--a very bad fit in terms of the director.

Josie, I am pretty sure you can find my article, "'Lucent figs' and 'suave veal chops': Sylvia Plath and Food" online because Gastronomica has an online version as well as a print version. I will check.

Lori, enjoy your new dishwasher! Even if you only use it a couple times a week, it's a labor saver. Funny--muscle butter sounds like something a bodybuilder would rub all over to make the muscles shine for posing! Not interested in either applying or ingesting it.

Valerie, I know that one of his daughters drove him down to Georgia and picked him up again in Virginia, but I don't know the details of how he planned everything. I think he consulted with someone he knows who is sort of an expert on the AT. I just read a really sad story about a woman who managed to get lost on the AT in 2013 and they just discovered her body, or what was left of it. She was in her sleeping bag and left a journal asking who ever found her to contact her husband. She knew she was dying--starvation and exposure. It is so strange--given cell phones--that they could not find her. My husband could really see with google maps where his brother was most of the time in terms of terrain, and he talked to him regularly on the phone.

Judy, we are not going anywhere either this weekend. Kim has a farmer's market tomorrow and he will probably be haying if the weather stays dry. Here it's HHH. I will try to plant some annuals if I don't faint from the heat.

Diane Sue, those cakes sound deadly good.

I went to Sprouts and I love it. It is a much larger store than the other two I have been to and it has a room with tables for those that buy from the deli and eat lunch there. The others were always busy with people buying their lunches when I went but no place to sit. It is nice because they can make healthier lunch choices. I picked up some maca powder for my Hulk Smoothie from Performance Paleo. Maca always seems to give me quite a bit more energy.

Josie, the bcaa powder I have been using is really good. I could cancel my membership and still buy it but I would have to pay more for it. HEre is a link https://www.melaleuca.com/ProductStore/Product?sku=636 I love the taste and look forward to drinking it. I just figured they all tasted good but I did see some reviews on Amazon where people said certain brands did not taste good. I try to use things that are not in pill form just so I know the dissolution is good. So many pill form supplements do not completely dissolve even when dumped in vinegar.

Judy, I liked that the Kimera coffee helped with my energy levels and the nootropics in it were supposed to be good for memory and things like that. I tried another one that I found on Amazon Called Brain Fog Lifter or something like that. I didn't notice much of anything with it. Ben Greenfield mentions using Kimera.

Deb, maybe it is good to do the pop up blocker. I would have probably thought it was Windows doing it but I am not prone to calling people that give me some sort of ultimatum to call. Generally if I can I push the delete button. I had one of those bogus phone calls that left a message and said I needed to call them back at the number they gave and that it was the IRS and I owed them money. Seriously? I knew we paid our taxes this year and they were probably calling to get information out of me. How many people really fall for that? The IRS know where I am at. I have heard of those scams.

Valerie, I used to watch food network and the View when I would get on the treadmill. That was back in the cable days though. Sometimes there are things on You Tube that I watch. Physical Therapists, etc..

Lynda, that would be nice to be able to read some of the things that you have written. When I make desserts they are meant to be enjoyed and not for the health benefits. Butter, cream, sugar and the works ;) Speaking of health though I wanted to make a recipe that I got recently and wanted Chorizo sausage but a healthier version. I bought some extra lean ground pork today and am going to mix up chorizo seasoning for it. It is blended with beef in the recipe for a Mexican meatloaf.

Good morning,

No workout yesterday, I think I need to start fresh tomorrow, with an attitude adjustment.

Valerie, the good thing about coming into watching some of these series later is that they are all available on Prime...like Justified...all 6 seasons are there so there is no gap in watching. I am waiting for season 5 of Suits to be either on Prime or in the library, and by the time it is, I will need to watch season 4 over again. I wonder why Apple TV doesn't stream with Prime...mmm...strange. I watch all the Prime shows on my iPad and it works fine. Not sure if you noticed that the "bad guy" on Scott & Bailey season 1 was played by an actor from Downton Abbey. He was the guy from downstairs that always wanted to be a higher level footman....he was the one that ended up being a teacher.

Josie, I can understand why at this point you might wish the ride was over and done with. I know that when you start it you will be back enjoying all of it again. Norman must be pretty good at tennis if his partner was a pro at one time.

Diane Sue, those cakes sound heavenly! I agree with you...if you are going to go to all that trouble, make the cake as decadent as it's supposed to be. :). We have had quite a few "calls from the IRS" telling us we are being indicted for tax evasion etc. They actually leave messages on the answering machine.

Lynda, I did really like the first 2 or 3 Harry Potter books....it was the kind of fantasy that I enjoy...magic etc. Somehow they seemed to get more confusing or something after that. Something to go back to at some time and try again. I watched the first episode of Dr Thorne...at first I couldn't get the characters straight...who was related to who etc...but is was more clear towards the end. This took place even earlier that Downton...I have read about maca powder...forgot what it is for now. Good that you found a nicer Sprouts location....we only have Co-ops here...and of course Trader Joe's and soon we will have a Whole Foods.

Hi to Judy & Lori,

No class today, due to the holiday weekend, not sure what we are going to do...maybe some errands, then hit the yard and get some mulch down.

Take care,

Good morning ladies,

Yesterday I ended up running 2 miles plus the SB lower body 2 workout that was scheduled. Christopher is here and he likes to sleep downstairs so I do not have my workout area. Figured I'd run since will not be able to again until Monday. This moning I will be doing SB upper body core curcuit. I am looking forward to this one as it looks great. I will then follow up with a Live Kickboxing - the one with Tabatas. I'll use 1lb weights in place of my heavy bag. Going to be hot today so will get this out of the way soon. Bob and Christopher were up until about 4AM talking and having a good time. I love they get along so well but now they will be sleeping most of the day!

Deb...Nilla is missing Chester. She still is walking round the house looking in every room for him. It is sad. Years ago would never think she would miss him. But as he calmed down through the years she became more tolerable of him and ended up liking him. Funny how once we started with Live we all neglected our DVD's.

Lynda...I LOVE the LOTR books and movies. I have also read them several times and have seen the movies many many times! My poor husband puts up with it. He is not into Fantasy at all. Just does not get it. He only watches GOT for me. And I have to sush him all the time because he starts going off about something unrealistic. He drives me nuts! :). Love Cardio Core Circuit. Very sad about that woman lost on the AT. When do you leave for SF? Around the same time as Josie?

Judy...so far I am enjoying SB Challenge. I like that they sneak up on you like you had mentioned. They are short workouts which allows me to add on other workouts to keep the variety for me. Yup...guilty here too. I always have my face in my ipad before bed. :D

Diane Sue...great workouts as always. Those icecream cakes sound amazing! We are getting tons of calls to our cell phones which are driving us nuts. They come through as a local number now so you think it is a local person calling you. We now never answer our cell phones unless we know who is calling. We do not call back missed calls either. If you do not leave a message then we do not call you. Most of our friends text us nowadays.

Valerie...yes we bought a Bosch. It is fancier than we were going to buy but it was such a great deal. Our DW died around Thanksgiving if you remember me mentioning. Never meant to go this long without one. Traffic was horrible when I went to pick up Christopher up in Boston yesterday. All the Cape traffic for this holiday weekend.

Josie...wow can't believe your ride is here. Makes sense to switch things up after all those miles. Agree your husband must be a great tennis player.

Have a great day all...going to be very hot here today! Bring it on!!

I get annoyed with myself when I watch a show for a season knowing full well that it will be a year before the next season, if it even gets renewed. I have several series on my Netflix queue that we hoped were returning for a 3rd or 4th season, but they get dropped and are never heard from again. I noticed Bloodline is back for a second season. It had good people and a decent story but was dragged out WAY too long. For most things, I try to re-watch the end of the last season before starting a new one. Deb, I'm pretty sure apple devices are not listed as compatible with Prime streaming. but then I am the technical idiot here.
I was reading an article about older people and all the new technology in cars. I don't like a lot of it and avoid most of it. I drive an older Forester and like it much better than the newer Outback. and we didn't even get the upgraded electronics package on the Outback. I would be fine with a back up camera but so often if you want one thing you need to take another 10 things that go with it. I'm not sold on the lane control or crash avoidance features. I use my phone for directions the few times I need it.

we also don't answer calls any more unless we know the name or number. we have avoided getting a lot of robocalls on our land line and our cell so far.

speaking of vehicles, our truck got invaded by mice again. they chewed up an insulating strip around the battery and started making nests with Kleenex. the vehicle is extremely clean and we just used it to go to MT a week ago. I discovered the mice when I was vacuuming out the car, and then as an afterthought, the truck, because it was already pretty clean. we found a nest under the hood near the battery. apparently this is a common problem in rural areas, plus some engine insulation and wiring is attractive to rodents. Great.
I don't do well with fantasy. I tried to read the LOTR trilogy but never got through it. one of the movies..the first one... was tolerable, but that was it. no more for me.

DEb, Yes, I did notice the guy from DT in the other series. one of the female characters in Happy Valley was Obrien in
DT too. the more series you watch the more people you recognize from other things.

I took the day off yesterday. raining today and tomorrow so it will be something indoors. memorial day is usually wet here.

Lori the main things I liked about Bosch was how quiet they are, and the filter system. our floor plan is open. running the DW in the evening while watching TV is how I do it. we have a water system pressurizer that makes noise going on and off, so I don't like to run the DW while we are sleeping.

Josie, best of luck on your ride
