Pentagarians & Beyond: W/B 5/22

Hi everyone--

This morning was Housemax and very tiring in this hot weather. No air-conditioning.

I have Amazon Video installed on my iPad, and I airplay selections from Prime with Apple TV on my television. I do this because I could never install the Silverplay on my TV. Technology!

Deb, I have heard of that IRS scam. They had a woman on NPR who fell for it and was about to wire them money, in the belief that police were on their way to arrest her, but the wire did not go through because this scam is too well-known. She had the fellow from the wire service on her landline and the scammer on a cell phone at the same time and she felt like she was caught between two different realities. Not a stupid woman, either--a psychotherapist afraid of being taken away from her children.

Lori, that is so sad about little Nilla. She misses her big buddy.

Josie, if you google my piece, you can find it online--a pdf file with lots of pictures of Plath. Long story about that posted correction involving an irate former mistress of Ted Hughes who didn't like the way she was portrayed in a footnote. I told the editors not to use that information, but they did anyway and she caused a lot of trouble. She wanted all of the print versions to somehow be retrieved from libraries. Crazy!

Valerie, I have been wondering about Bloodline. I never watched the first season, but there was a little review of the new season in EW saying something like "maybe we will find out what happened in the last season if we watch the first." Didn't sound promising.

Today I did Ice Low Impact Sweat workout #2 with the blizzard blast mix, 37 minutes, 288 calories. Ice Bootcamp Blizzard Blast and Icy Core, 23 minutes, 122 calories. I finished off with 21 Day Fix Extreme Yoga, 31 minutes, 101 calories. Total time 92 minutes, 511 calories

Deb, we just have the cell phones now. I did put us on the do not call list but somehow I have started getting more calls and yes sometimes they use local numbers. I figure no message and I do not recognize the number I will not answer too. You can block the caller but they just use another number. My husband answers them and tells them to take him off their calling list and do not call again. A lot of the time it is while I am working out and I am not stopping to deal with it. My family texts most of the time unless they really need to get hold of me quickly. Even then they will leave a message. I do have a friend in NH that texts and calls me and I just get a number. Fortunately she will leave a message or I can look at the text and no who it is. She is talking about moving to AZ soon.

Lorie, I had the same thing happen when my dog Mudd died. Gertie quit eating and I was fearful and took her to the vet because I was afraid she was sick too. She would lie in Mudds usual spots for awhile and when she would go outside she would wait on the door step for Mudd to come too but there was no Mudd. She picked on Mudd so much I would have thought that she would not miss her so much. She kind of bullied Mudd sometimes but then would decide to share. It hasn't been that long ago that I got out Mudd's red bowl because Gerties was outside and I did not want to go get it. Gertie freaked and would not touch her food even when I went out and got her own bowl and dumped it into it. She has adjusted but it has taken quite a few months since we lost Mudd in August. It broke my heart watching Gertie grieve. The Vet said that was all ie was with her. She picked on Mudd but when it came down to it Mudd would go to her defense when my daughter's dogs were around. She did not like the rough play.

Valerie, I have never heard of mice nesting in a vehicle. I have seen rodents get in attics and chew up the electrical wiring. We had problems with mice at one of our homes and I think they came from a neighbor's trailer that stayed in front of his house with a pile of old fencing in it. I hated dealing with them. How would you keep them out of your vehicle?
I have Amazon Streaming with my ipads. The only problem is I need to be where there is internet because I never put them on our digital plan. I used to get it on the cell phones. Amazon and Apple seem to have some sort of war going on. I have to make my phone allow me to put Amazon Apps on it and it is an android.
 
Lynda, I guess we were here at the same time. I have a hard time understanding falling for the Irs scams. They are not noted for just up and demanding money from people and allow a chance for the people to check it out. I remember reading a bunch of scary stuff once and I was so afraid of making a mistake but, in reality I think there was probably more to those stories or the Irs was really brutal at one time. There are way to many ways to scam people now. The ice cream cakes will be eaten tomorrow :) I fully plan on having a nice big piece. I need to take the second one out of the spring form pan and plate it though. I am trying to figure out how to transport them and told my daughter she needs to make room for two large ice cream cakes in her freezer.
