Penagenarians & Beyond W/B 12/13

This morning I did Step Sweat. I did that one a few weeks ago and really like it. She goes right into the first step combo. I do feel for the people who are in the class who clearly have minimal if any step experience. There are two in this one and anything that was not basic had them going every way but the right one. And all of the moves are ones that she’s done in her DVD’s. Major kudos though to them for sticking it out. In the kickboxing one I did the other day, someone actually left after the warm up, as she just couldn’t get the punch combo.

Valerie that’s a great workout combo! I would hate paying for stuff I wasn’t using.

Nice workout Carolyn! Nick’s applying to 6 grad schools over break. Money offers will be the determining factor. I’m pulling for NMU since Derek will be there, but I know better than to push it. The kiss of death for any parents.

Carolyn no . I have a bunch of points but have not used any, 7000 plus.
I tried cardio slam. I found the premix with the modifications window. This one is too hard. too much jumping . Even with modifying. I did half or so, and kinda-sorta did most moves. not a good one for me. The whole strong / sweaty series was problematic. I do the upper body one the most but need to turn off the sound track completely, it’s so loud it drowns out everything else and is annoying music besides. So I did half of CSlam and then switched to a PP hiit premix for 19 min and then abs from x train. I can look and see with more time if a premix from CS might work, but usually if it feels too hard I look for something less intense. Watching it and actually doing it are two different things. Cathe and crew make everything look easy when its not. I am SO uncoordinated on some moves. I did it on the floor without a step so it wasn't hopeless for future adjusting. few moves were fine. I did enough to get some sore spots, so not altogether unsuccessful. .

Cathy I have accumulated a lot of DVDs. some get used to pieces, others get left in the dust. . I don't use every disk from a sets, but pricing was good enough to be OK. If I use 4 of the 6 disks, it was money well spent, and it's IMO impossible to tell what's going to work and what won't until you try it. I never expected to like Kick boxing and surprise, its one of my favorites. I used to do more aggressive jumping but my right knee complains these days so I skip things that bother it.
I always ALWAYS have had trouble with footwork. any spinning or turning ...forget it. I cannot dance and never could. its not a skill I ever had so I have lost nothing to age there! totally Trigger. the one I still try and have hopes of learning is Cardio party. Strong and Sweaty series is the one I've used the least. I use the spin dvd and upper body. quite sure I never did Cardio Slam before.

Yesterday I did Rock'm Sock'm KB and Muscle Meltdown Triceps. Today I did Live #321 Metabolic Circuit and #323 Legs Express Moderate Weight. I went light rather than moderate for the leg workout since I was doing 2 workouts back to back.

Deb-Live Metabolic Circuit is a great workout. I really enjoyed it and will do it again. Great job with Live Metabolic Upper Body. I like that one a lot.

Valerie-Amazon has The Crown seasons 1-3. I’ve only purchased 1 & 2 so far. I thought about trying Netflix but I’m not sure how much use we would get out of it.

Carolyn-Nice job with 4 Day Split Lower Intensity Step.

Cathy-Great job with Step Sweat Live. That looks like a good one but I would probably be one of those people going every way but the right way, lol! I really need more step practice.

Hi to Lori & Diane Sue,

Today I did P30 Perfect Pump Lower Body + the Extended Stretch. That was 38 minutes and 142 calories burned. My average heart rate was 110 and maximum heart rate was 145.

Cathy, great job with Step Sweat. It sounds like a good workout. Yes, we have to learn not to push our children or they will surely do the opposite of what we suggest.

Valerie, great job with trying a difficult cardio workout. Doing a little at a time might be the best way to get used to it. I remember that the music in that series bothered you. Can you turn the music off? The workouts are really good. Redeeming WW reward points is so easy. You browse the rewards then select the one that you want. It’s mailed to you very quickly in normal circumstances. They change up the selection periodically but not many items that I want right now. Socks are something that I always need.

Judy, great job with Rock’m Sock’m and Muscle Meltdown Triceps yesterday and Live Metabolic Circuit Legs Express Moderate Weights today.

Hello to Diane Sue, Deb, and Lori. Have a wonderful day everyone.

Back from getting my hair cut and color, lunch done, waiting for a while before I look at a workout.

Carolyn, there isn't anything I want on the choices now so I'm thinking maybe there will be different choices after jan 1. what I did yesterday was workable but less disk changing if I use a disk where I do the whole workout and be done. another thing was I didn't wear a good exercise bra and that makes jumping less pleasant too. doesn't matter much for elliptical or treadmill but for jumping it does.
I have to remember to go to audio right at the beginning and turn off the music. you have to do it before you start. even with music turned off, the music still leaks thru enough to annoy. it is incredibly intrusive on the upper body workout. Cardio slam was not too loud at all.

Judy I cant say right off what else is good on Netflix right now. DH always runs the remote for this "TV and when he has something on the screen I cant always see what streaming service it came from. we use netflix, prime, and hulu. we otherwise have basic cable which is good for local news and that's it. I am technically challenged with TV. DH goes thru things so fast there is no way to see what hes doing and getting him to slow down enough to see doesnt happen often.
I did rev'd up rumble, the triceps pyramid, and abs #2. Rev'd up felt pretty easy after yesterday. t is raining here ruling out outdoor things right now.

Diane sue, where are you? you don't usually miss this many days. Lori you too. check in and let us know all is OK.

No workout yesterday as I was shopping. Today I did more of my 1 RM's. Helps that I can watch the clips with On Demand because some exercises which are listed with a basic description can be done in slightly different ways that change the amount of weight I can use.

Valerie my comment about the wasted money was about your cousin paying fees for something he doesn't use. I'm sure there's a fair sum of money involved in that. I agree that the presale price of the DVD's make it worth getting even if there are discs you don't use. My DH is extremely tech challenged, so I have to muddle my way through figuring things out if I want to do something. Whenever I have to do something new with a device I pretty much hold my breath the whole time waiting for it all to go bad. LOL I think I've done Cardio Slam but I really don't remember it. Rev'd up Rumble is a good one.

Carolyn great job with P30 Lower Body that's a workout that generally makes you feel it the next day!

Today I did Cardio Party + 6 Pack Abs 1 for 49 minutes and 300 calories burned. My average heart rate was 123 and maximum heart rate was 146.

Valerie, nice job with Rev’d Up Rumble, triceps, and Abs 2. I agree that the presale price for the dvds is worth it even when I don’t use all of the workouts. I will try them all, but there is usually one that I use less than others.

Cathy, I am definitely feeling that lower body workout today!

Diane Sue, I hope that you are doing okay.

Hello to Deb, Judy, and Lori.

cathy no problem. I thought you meant either dvds and/ or gym costs. 100 % right. we marvel at how much money cousin spent for access to things he doesn't use. his previous condo, gym was a block away, 2 minute walk. he paid for 10 years plus. we gave him a hard time after a hike. he was so out of shape we thought we'd have to drag him up the hill. his wife is younger, tiny. so the lack of fitness doesn't show so much. he complained about weight/labs /unfitness, and we reminded him of the gym fees he paid out annually. that last hike was scary. maybe it got his attention too, because he started going to the gym shortly after. lost a chunk of weight, and hired a personal trainer at the gym. massive improvement. since he moved to AZ, ostensibly for nicer weather all year, he returned to sloth status. the condo .. overly fancy and micromanaged... has a huge gym. I can't imagine the monthly HOA fees! not the only luxurious feature.

I've always thought people feel like if they spend the money... it is the same as actually doing the "work". nice if it worked that way but it doesnt.

I understand not wanting using indoor gym if people won't mask up. Id have trouble doing cardio with a mask. weights would be fine. the outdoor walking track/ pool/sauna, hot tub/plunge pool would be easy to use until the virus issue settles down. he complained but management hasn't done much about it. IMO its an excuse to skip working out. he's 72ish, not endless years to get a grip on his health. maybe we would not notice so much.... except he went on and on about how he wanted to be in AZ where he could be outside during what is winter weather in the northwest. it can get dismal sometimes. DH and I work around it and like snow sports but have thought about taking a month and spending it in a sunny spot.

anyway, I like buying dvd sets because I get exposed to new fun things. step/dance will not ever fly for me. I tried bits of Cardio party. there is hope for this one.

DH does well with technical things. I get there more slowly but get there. he is very impatient. very hard to get explanations from him. the prescription fiasco has not resolved yet. now he sees did it right, the pharmacies are bungling it and continue to. his doctors office complicated the issue by sending new prescriptions for another med to both pharmacies. I am letting him sort this thru his doctors office. if they finally get it right... I'll go pick it up.

Just stopping buy for an update. Still no workout. I was waiting for the second covid test results and till I felt energetic again. I just got results saying the longer test said covid is detected :(. So, it has been 7 days tomorrow night. No fever and I am keeping track of my Sp02 which my daughter gave me her monitor to check throughout the day. If it goes below 90 it is time to go to the hospital. I don't feel that bad though. Just mild headache, and tired.

Diane Sue, I am praying for your continued mild symptoms and recovery. Rest and take care. My New York daughter had a similar mild case a couple of months ago. She had mostly stomach issues and fatigue. She was very tired for a few weeks afterwards. I am so glad that you let us know what’s going on with you.

Hope for the best... most people get thru this without any significant issues but be cautious. do you know anyone where you might have gotten it from? quarantine as much as possible so you don't pass it on. sorry to hear this! I was getting concerned because you are so regular about posting.

Diane sue check in with us when you can and let us know how you’re doing. Rest, Take care, stay warm and lots of fluids.
I focused on Cardio party. Slowed down disk speed to 0.8 and did the warm up part about three times then did the workout from the start at regular speed. I can not get this right . I can get feet or arms but not both and my arms want to go opposite in timing . I may keep at it another few times today . I did manage to “get” enough parts to make it a workout. I can’t turn backwards or I lose it completely . Sigh. What a klutz. They all look like it’s fun and breezy. I did not get the genes for this but I will “get” it better over a few more repeats

This morning I did WS3 One Mile of Motivation for 25 minutes and 109 calories burned. Average heart rate was 130 and maximum heart rate was 142. Then I did Element Yoga with Alanna Zabel, the flexibility practice. That was 23 minutes and 59 calories burned. I really felt like I needed yoga today.

Valerie, nice work with Cardio Party. Sometimes not thinking about the movement makes it easier to do. Just let you body move any way that you can. And have fun!

Hello to Everyone and have a great day.

This morning I did the Live 40/20 Low Impact Hiit. This is a really good workout. It's about 12 minutes longer than the Shock Cardio 40/20 and you definitely feel the length! Added to the fun is that at times she mixes up her 40 seconds and 20 seconds so then she'll start sooner or go longer to compensate. I did the P30 extended stretch after it.

I previewed both versions of Cardio Slam yesterday and wow! that one looks tough. Weird thing though is that I feel like I would definitely need to modify some moves, but the modifications she shows seem to easy. I'd need to find something in between.

The boys now have a 2010 Prius to drive. It came home today. Waiting to see if it actually goes north with them or if DH decides to keep it and let them take his 2017 Corolla. He's always wanted a Prius.

And I finally finished the damn FAFSA's. Ugh!

Diane Sue like Valerie said please update us when you can.

Valerie just keep persevering with Cardio Party. Sounds like you made good progress learning it. It's been a long time since I've done that one and I don't even really remember it. And I agree with Carolyn. I know sometimes I can overthink a new move.

Carolyn nice job on the workouts!

Cathy, I agree about the modifications in Cardio Slam. Some are too easy and I go for something in between. It helps me to know the options. I consider the Shock Cardio HiiT to be tough and I rarely do them. Great job today with your workout.

carolyn what happens when I cant follow something is .... everything stops and I stand there not moving, unable to get back on pace. I try to keep feet moving even if not exactly what Cathe's doing. if I break it into small chunks and repeat many times, I will eventually get it most of it. most kickboxing did not come easily either, but it was easier than this. when the arm movements are too distracting, I clap instead. I seem not to have natural rhythm. I watch what other people do and mimic them.

of all the cars on the road, the Prius makes me most nervous. its so quiet I worry about getting run over by one.

I started the cardio party warm up. felt ridiculous. I cant even figure out what she does to do an "L step" so I decided "not today" and pulled the disk and did Rock/Sock instead along with Abs 1.
