Peeps Doing the Happy Dance!!!!

BelovedHeather

Cathlete
Peeps:

I feel good tonight! After enjoying a few restful days, I am fired up and ready to tackle a 3-week cardio and circuit training rotation and start my one-rep max tests to prepare for STS! I confess that I was pondering the possibility of flying by the seat of my pants until Cathe posted the charts with pictures and star ratings for each exercise. During the chat Friday, she assured me that I only need to focus on the exercises rated with 4 stars or 5 stars. That involves a total of 38 upper body exercises. Personally, I am skipping all the tests for legs. Most of my weight is attached to my body, not my barbell! LOL!

I attended a Saturday afternoon weight loss prayer support group led by a member of my church family who started his fitness journey at 430 pounds last November and has lost 100 pounds (down to 330 pounds). His goal weight is 170 pounds.

My mind is being renewed. I am filled with hope and blissfully unaware of the extra weight I am hauling around most of the time. I am alive and well, and there is a spring in my step! God is good! Life is good! My reality has not changed, but my mental attitude is being transformed! I am having a revival of faith! Mountains that appeared to be insurmountable a month ago look like hills this month, and I want to run to the top and dance with joy! Glory!

My beloved Rhythmic Step is on my rotation for the morning. Is it morning yet? No, it is midnight! Sweet dreams, Peeps!

Jerry, Easter Peeps are sweet chicks and bunnies. Not a duck in the bunch! I am looking forward to reading about your 4-Day Split rotation and eating journey. The 4-Day Split is my favorite Cathe series overall. It is very efficient and effective. I love her November 2007 rotation.

Vilma, did you enjoy a power nap before your workout?

Karin, I hope you are feeling better.

Ellie, step away from the whiskey!

Dani, I am praying for positive results from your stress test.

Jill, I love "Shackles" too! Thankfully, I am free to dance at my church! I would love to hear your pastor’s daughter sing it!

Conni, welcome to Peepville! I want to add some dancy and fun hi-lo workouts to my rotation. Have you given the new FIRM Cardio Dance Fusion a whirl? I have not wanted a FIRM workouts in years, but this one looks like fun. I am trusting you to help me find fun cardio workouts to spice up the STS rotation!

Hugs to Gayle, JJ, Phyllis, Wendy, and any other Peeps who visit today.

Blessings,
Heather B.

Oh wait, that's just my own head banging like that!!!

Why oh why did I do that??? We really had a lot of fun (obviously) But this morning..... Not so much!!!!

I am up and drinking COFFEE and taking a few Motrin and I will be back for more personals. I hope everyone has a great day.

Do you think the priest will smell my breath when I get communion this morning???:eek::eek:

PEEPS--I need your help, your .02 cents, ANYTHING!!!!!!!

I am EXHAUSTED right now. Houdini lived up to her name last night and figured out how to open her bedroom door. She did not stay down for a nap, so I thought fine, she'll just be extra tired and go to bed early.

WRONG.

Houdini cried when I put her down to sleep--she hasn't done that in a year. Then she ran out of the room. And when I put her down, she ran back out. So I stayed with her until she fell asleep, 9:30PM.

And guess who ran out of her room crying at 12:30AM and stayed up until 3AM?????????? I stayed with her, patted her back, but she would NOT sleep. She's not sick--no fever, no crying (except if I left her in her room), no pain. She just refused to go to bed, even though she was exhausted...Of course, I went to bed at 3AM and woke up at 6:30, which is sleeping in for me and I'm soooooooooooooooo tired. Ugh.

Back to my problem. My thought is to put one of those kiddo locks around the doorknob so she can't open her door. She will scream and cry for several nights, but at least I know she's safe and getting the sleep she needs. Do y'all think this is the right thing to do? I feel mean about it, but I can't keep this up, either.

Thoughts/Advice/Support are appreciated!!!!

Hence why I never got to check in yesterday!!!

OK, yesterday: I did the first three sections of Low Impact Circuit followed by Stretch Max with the ball.

And I had brunch at Craft, Top Chef Judge Tom C's restaurant in Dallas!!! It was AWESOME. First, we show up and the waitress apologizes because the chef is putting the finishing touches on the menu so it's not ready yet. We are treated to a breadboard filled with mini apple muffins, cranberry muffins, banana bread, crossiants and cheddar scones. Then we get the menu and I ordered butternut squash quiche topped with a hint of nutmeg and served with a side salad of wild greens and sherry-dijon dressing. OUTSTANDING. The restaurant is gorgeous, with really cool drop lighting, dark woods, etc. Best of all, we were treated like royalty and I will go back the very next chance I am able to.

Heather--You are so ready for this change in your life!! :) I'm so happy you are going to move those mountains!!

Ellie--So you saw Clean House the other day? I LOVE that show because that is what is inspiring me to change. I don't want to be like that!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep those tips (and the fiancial ones coming.) Yes, I am ready to change my life!! :)

:) Wendy

sleepy morning to ya peeps!

I'm dragging a little from last night as I ended up watching The Bourne Ultimatum before going to bed, so it was almost 10pm! I just LOVE those movies! All 3 of them... not sure why, but they are just so well written, thrillers and I can't get enough!

Yesterday we cleaned the downstairs and gave it a good scrub! I have one more corner of clutter to eliminate and then the downstairs will be done (except the master bedroom/bath). This and laundry will be on the agenda for today and then hopefully by the end of the night, everything will be clean and tidy... my house anyway... let's not talk about the garage yet...

I have been reading through 3 books... BFFM, Anti-Inflamitory foods for health, and Everything Low Cholesterol... trying to get ready for my renewed commitment to my health tomorrow... I need to get a list together, figure out how in the heck I am going to eat 5-6 meals (every 3 hours while at work), drink my body weight in water (ok, overexaggerated a 'wee' bit!) and get back into workout with Cathe's January rotation until STS arrives... tomorrow is DM IN FULL! **gulp**

Wendy: Yes, I would have to say that I would put those door thingys on the inside of Houdidn's door.. I thought that thought as I was reading your post and was glad you mentioned it.. I think for definate safety reasons, as she may be able to get out without you hearing her for awhile, and you need to keep her safe. As you said, she will probably protest for a nigth or two, but safety first!

***whispers Ellie how are you feeling today?*** Don't forget to drink LOTS of water too! and pop some tic tac's before church! Wanna Martini (apple of course) for lunch? lol!!! Glad you had fun and were able to let your hair down a little!

Heather: can you bottle that good energy and send some our way?! Hope you have a blessed day!

Hugs to all peeps who follow (as I'm sure I have typed this so long that there are more Peepers since) and will BBL to follow up

:)

Wendy-I'd suggest a baby gate, first, rather than the door knob cover. My initial instinct is that you don't want to give her the impression of being 'locked' in her room. You want her room to be a pleasant place to sleep, play, read, etc. I'm afraid that with the knob cover, she may think she's now locked into this place where she doesn't want to be (at that moment). How old is your little Houdini, and is she in a bed or a crib?

Heather-enjoy the 1RM testing. I'm doing ALL of them, though. I know Cathe knows her stuff and I want to get the MOST out of her program. Her chat yesterday was awesome and it was really nice to have her on the boards at a time that she's able to relax and enjoy herself without working herself ragged. I'm all done with the 4 and 5 * 1RM and am moving onto the 3s and 2s tomorrow.

Ellie-how ya feeling, my dear??? I guess I won't bring that bottle of wine I have for our visit, hugh??? Yeah, a hangover and kids are NOT a good combination.

Dani-I love those Jason Borne movies also!!! I'm right there with you, too, for tomorrow being the start of something AWESOME and clean (both my house and my eating)!!!

OK.....I'm sore. Simply sore. DOMS pretty much everywhere. 2 days of 1RM tests and today I'm sore! I'm taking today as a rest day and tomorrow, I plan on getting up early once again, after a 2 week Winter break from school with the kids. Tomorrow's plan is a bit of cardio to warm up (maybe running on the TM) and 1RM tests for bis, shoulders and back. I see the light at the end of this 1RM tunnel and I CANNOT WAIT FOR STS!

Ladies, have a wonderful Sunday. BBL

Gayle

PEEPS

Despite this throbbing headache I am going to do KickMax as soon as DH finishes his workout! Yes he is 5 days in and still motivated!! Yipee.

Heather- pass the energy and excitement this way also!!!

Dani- There has to be another movie because I read the book before seeing the 3rd movie and a lot more secrets and surprises await us. When I saw the movie it was sooooooo different than the book.

Wendy- Put a metal gate that bolts into the wall and can only be opened by an adult, or use a dutch door and leave the top open with the handle thing on the lower door knob. I used the gates for both of my boys for safety reasons. I wouldn't shut her in completely because she may be afraid or feel locked in. But her safety comes first!!! I was alone most of the time with my boys and had to make sure they were in their rooms when I went to bed. DO NOT FEEL GUILTY. Trust me. You would never forgive yourself if she got hurt or went outside etc. She is right at the age for night terrors as well as fear of the dark etc. Reassure her that there are no such things as monsters and DO NOT let her sleep with you. One important note is that we as adults sometimes don't recognize when a child is overwhelmed or overtired. My boys still nap!!! They need it. Especially with all the excitement of Christmas and new toys and visitors etc. I don't mean to lecture but if this happens again, just talk to her from your room and tell her nite nite. It will take a week or 2 but she will learn to fall back to sleep on her own.

Vilma- how much water can I drink before I will explode???

Peep Daddy- I am getting myself ready for the Cathe class.

Gayle- you are officilly a member. And no one should be obligated to do personals everyday. This is just for fun and encouragement and support. I like it cause I'm nosey and want to know what everyone else is up to!!!

And I am so happy to have Conni and Jill on board as well.

I'll BBL after my workout.
Hope to hear from all Peeps today
ellie

Wendy, when DD was 10mos old she was climbing out of her crib. So we got rid of the crib and put a twin sized mattress on the floor (with the little side rail for a while). While we did have an escape preventer handle on the inside of the door, we didn't use it too much, mostly because I was sure she would get into something in her room that I had not thought she'd be able to get into! We put a baby gate in the doorway which worked for a very short period of time. When she started climbing over that, we had to put one baby gate on top of the other. She would stand with her feet on one gate, with her hands on top of the other and cry. And I would totally feel like crying, but it's the only thing we could do to keep her safe in her room and allow me to keep an eye on her. Eventually she would climb down and go lay in her bed. If you choose to use the doorknob handle, make sure that there is nothing in her room that she could get into and hurt herself and know that you are making a good decision. You're not doing it to be a mean mom, you're doing it to keep her safely contained. And yes, she'll cry, but it's better than having her escape her room when she's supposed to be sleeping and getting hurt.

Hey gals. I've go good news. The days are getting longer now and and warmer weather is on its way! (a girl can dream);)

Heather, your post is sooo upbeat and it makes me smile. Keep those thoughts with you every day.!
I'll have to check out Cathe's post about STS. I haven't seen it yet.

Oh Ellie, I hope you feel better soon. I bet it was worth it, though.;)

Wendy, I feel for you and Houdini. Although at first I thought the lock was a good idea, after I read Gayle's post, I changed my mind. You don't want Houdini to think of her room as a bad place. So, go shopping and find yourself a good gate.

Dani, good job with the cleaning yesterday! You should feel accomplished.:) No wonder you were tired.

Gayle, I guess I need to get moving with my 1RM tests. I need to quit complaining that I don't have the time and just DO IT. Thanks for the kick in the a**! BTW, how early tomorrow is early for you?

I'll do some cardio today. Although the rotation calls for KM, I do NOT enjoy kickboxing. So, I'm thinking a cardio premix from LIC or something else I enjoy. My feel good WO is RS so that is an option too.

Hi everyone. Well, I finished the book. I thought that it was an ok book about a super-interesting subject. I thought the author could have done a better job writing it, but at least I learned something from it.

It is snowing here this morning after being almost 60 degrees Wed, Thurs, and Fri of last week.

I feel like I am getting better, but still stuffed up.

Heather - I loved your post. Have fun with RS today.

Ellie - how's your headache? :D RE Clean House, that show is bad, but have you ever seen the BBC version of "How Clean is your House". OMG, that one is even worse. They show how filthy these people are. It is disgusting and makes me gag, but I watch it anyway.

Wendy - I am so sorry about your night. Also, I really don't know what you should do because I have no expertise in this area. I am sure you will figure it out though. The gate solutions mentioned above sound like a good idea, but like I said, I have no clue. Has Niecy left Clean House? I watched it the other night and there was some other lady on. I love Niecy! I think that you mentioned HSC yesterday or Friday and that you liked it. Yippee! I'm so glad. I hate recommending things to people and then have them not liking it. I have never done the 52 min premix. Does it include the abs segment or not?

Dani - when are you coming to my house to clean? :p

Gayle - thanks for sharing the book you are currently reading. I am always looking for a good book to read. Do you have any other recommendations?

Phyllis - I was thinking that the days are getting longer too. I had to change my lights that are timed to go on a little later. Woohoo!

Jill - yes, if you are ever down in Boulder let me know and we can get together. It would be fun! What do you have planned for today?

JJ - how is your hip today?

Karin-OH MAN! You are going to regret asking me for book recommendations! LOL I LOVE anything historical fiction....some of my favorites are the books by Phillipa Gregory (The Other Boleyn Girl, The Queen's Fool, etc). I (and my book group) really liked Memoirs of a Geisha, The Kite Runner, One Thousand White Women, Water for Elephants, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan and another one by that author called Peony in Love, The Glass Castle, and The Red Tent. For fun and fast reads, I liked reading the alphabet series by Sue Grafton, the number series by Janet Evanovich, and another mystery series by Harlan Coben. See??? Told ya you'd regret asking! LOL

Ellie-as usual, we think alike (concerning the baby gate and getting out of bed). How ya feeling NOW?

Phyllis-on school days I set my alarm for 4:45am and I like to be in the basement working out no later than 5:20am. That allows me enough time to workout without feeling rushed, shower and get ready to wake the kids by 7am.

Gayle

Gayle - it looks like we have the same taste in books. I have read all the books that you mentioned :D. My all time favorites are The Kite Runner, A Thousand Splendid Suns, Oryx and Crake, The Glass Castle, The Other Boleyn Girl, and The Boleyn Inheritance. The last round of books that my book club has picked have not been too memorable. The only one that I really liked was The Glass Castle. We are picking the next round of books soon, so I hope that we do a little better the next time.

Have you ever read Anna Quindlen? I have read 2 of her books and didn't really like either of them, but everyone else seems to like her.

Karin, I had planned on doing a little more housework after church, but a trip to urgent care looks like it takes priority. DD isn't feeling too well. She doesn't have a fever, but she's not feeling well and is a little dizzy...I wonder if she might have an ear infection. DD is going to stay home from church with her and if she's still feeling poorly by the time I get home, urgent care will be open by then and I can take her.

Holey Smokes Peeps!!

You are all so chatty not sure if I'll be able to keep up today but I'll do my best.

Heather gotta love your enthusiasm :D. Never did get that power nap but did do my workout at 9pm yup yup late as all get out but it was done.

Thankfully we'll be all back on schedule manana as the kiddos go back to school so I'll be doing my 4:30-5am wake up, get the breakfast cooking, get the family fed and run out the door to drop them off then I can get my workout in at my normal time in the morning lol.

Ellie you are too cute. I'm not a drinker either but when I do imbibe I get awfully sick my limit is just two glasses of wine or mixed cocktails.

Drink as much water as you can throughout the day and as Heather advised me once take some Emergen-C also with the water . It really does help!

My average water intake can easily surpass 80 oz /day if I'm good. As you know for every cup of coffee follow it with water with perhaps a few slices of lemon so its not so blech.

Wendy - sorry after three kids ranging in ages from 18-10 yrs old I have no advise.

We did the family bed until each was two years old. Then they got moved into their own rooms. We keep the master bedroom locked so there were times when a lil one woke up and ended up sleeping by our door but we'd put them back into their beds.

We did deal w/ night terrors but that's not your problem.

I wish you much luck. Hugs to you - Parenting is not easy at times.

That restaurant sound lovely!

Dani wow sounds like you guys were on a roll w/ the cleanmax yesterday.
How's the situation w/ your dh's dd? Did you guys get it resolved?

Those Borne movies are very good we have them all ... my dh tends to go on movies lags where he'll watch a movie over & over. The Borne movies are some of them.

Gayle have a great day and hoping the DOMs lessens up for you.

Jill Hope your DD gets to feeling better.

Karin glad that crud is letting you be.

I have to ditto some of Gayle's book suggestions - Loved The Other Boylen Girl & Memoirs of a Geisha the others I need to look into.

At the moment I'm reading The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon - on book 5 at the moment .

Hellos to all the Peeps that follow

Peeps,

I did Kickmax!!! It was actually fun and not as hard on my achin' head as a step w/o would have been. I am drinking tons of water too.

Gayle and Karin I loved all the janet Evanovich, Sue Grafton and Harlem Coben's too. I tend to read a lot of mystery books. DH thinks I'm planning the perfect murder!!!! Of HIM!!! I also like John Grisham, Richard North Patterson and true stories of people who have overcome great tragedies. I detest romance. As he rose to feel the hot tendrils of sweat dripping from his muscle-toned body, he saw her long flowing hair and could smell the scent of her, so he grabbed her in his arms and the pure overwhelming sense of awe overcae him....... That's when I barf!!!!

Wendy- No guilt remember!! This too shall pass. Talk to her and reassure her and give her her lovey. I would always tell my boys that I would be back to check on them. And I did. They then trusted that I was coming back and were able to go back to sleep.

Phyllis- I couldn't find Slumdog Millionare playing anywhere, that's why we didn't see it. All of our local theaters had Benjamin Button playing on 2 screens. As soon as it comes to Deptford, we are seeing it!! I am also looking forward to a little more sunlight, although I must admit that I like the cold weather. I'm still waiting for SNOW!!!

Dani- I'm sooooo proud of your cleaning and de-cluttering. You will feel so much better.

Karin- I loved Niecy!!! That's why I kept watching even though the houses were making me crazy!! I have never seen the other version, but you guys might have started me on Clean House. Niecy is a riot.

Jill- bummer about DD. I hope she feels better soon. Both of my boys have a cough right now, the day before school returns of course!!! My older son has asthma so he needs to be watched a little more closely.

Heather- I hope you know i was kidding this morning. I am glad to hear the excitement in your voice. Enjoy the ride and worry about the destination when you get there!!!

Have a great day Peeps.
ellie

I am so sorry if I missed anything important from yesterday. I should not drink and type!!! I was trying to read everything but it was really getting blurry.

As he rose to feel the hot tendrils of sweat dripping from his muscle-toned body, he saw her long flowing hair and could smell the scent of her, so he grabbed her in his arms and the pure overwhelming sense of awe overcae him.......

AH!!! That's just when I get started! LOL But keep in mind you're talking to a SINGLE woman DATING a SINGLE MAN! In love and waiting to take the next step! LOL

(and I detest the romance novels too)

Karin-I read Blessings by Quindlen and although it was pretty good, I certainly didn't feel the need to read more of her work.

Gayle

Morning Peepers!

My hip is slowly feeling better so I don't think a trip to the doc is necessary. I think I'll spend this week off doing my 1 rep max tests for all upper body. I've been dreading it but want to be ready once sts is shipped.

Heather~ I can feel your energy radiating right out of your post! I'll be joining you with the 1 rep max testing this week.

Ellie~ I feel for ya girlfriend. I was there a few days ago. Lots of water, a few advil, and lots of mints before you go to church;)

Wendy~ Oh you poor thing. Houdini was doing so well. I agree with the gate option first. I think if she couldn't open her door, she might become quite frightened. DS used to have night terrors when he was little and I'd be up half the night with him so I feel for ya! Try to get some rest:)

Dani~ How do you like BFFM? I bought it and followed it for awhile but I have such a hard time eating a bunch of small meals per day. High fives on de-cluttering...I need to do some of that!

Gayle~ I love your book recommendations. I just finished The Other Boleyn Girl and picked up A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. I usually go to Amazon or Barnes & Noble.com and search the top 100 or new releases. If they sound good, I place a request at the library for it. Did you read the Edward Sawtelle book? Blech...I got in about 100 pages and brought it back to the library.

Jill~ Hope DD is OK....those ear infections can be painful.

Phyllis~ Thanks for the tidbit about longer/warmer days. I'm soooo ready for summer:eek:

Karin~ Glad to hear you are feeling better. Happy reading!

Vilma~ How do you like The Outlander series? I'm always looking for new authors to try. I'm going to have to take a week off from my beloved kettlebells to give my hip a rest and I had just started a rotation of all KB's:confused:

Well, we are heading out to the Vikings vs Eagles game today. It is below zero windchill so I'm not looking forward to the long walk from the parking lots to the Dump...I mean Dome:eek:.

Have a great day Peeps!

JJ

OMG! Ellie... you are a SICK woman! LOL'ing about the Harlilquin references... I love thrillers and mystery/murder, too... I have read all but the last few Sue Grafton books too! But I do have to say that I am a sucker for Nicholas Sparks... Message in a Bottle, I LOVED The Notebook ~ I read it in one night, and bawled through the last half of the book, The Wedding (sequel to Notebook) and a few others I have started but not finished yet... I have never read most in one sitting before ~ I did when Stephen King came out with the Green Mile mini-series (one short book at a time) but I'm generally not a quick reader! You have GOT to go back to yesterday's thread and read from where you were drunk-rambling.. you got quite a rise from some of us that remember those stupid little diddies, and you deserve to relive those moments (as well as those songs playing in the background of your mind!) along with the rest of us... :p

I did see a 4th Bourne book at the book store a few weeks ago, but it is apparently not by the same author because he passed away, but is based on the series... I have not heard any movies in the works for it though! Would definately LOVE one though... DH has read all the books, but I haven't... We were just talking about them last night... *movies that is* because I think we have watched that last one 4 times in the last month or so, and I see something new every time I watch it... It's like a whole new movie experience the more you watch any of them...

Vilma: Yikes! workout at 9pm! I'd have been awake until midnight! The issue with DD only gets to be more drama for now... I don't know what is going on or when she will be here, but I made it clear that if she is here, she will be working somewhere, and it will only be a short term deal... DH agrees... so will keep the Peeps posted... When she gets here I might move into the bedroom and hide on this forum (like the only difference will be the location, not the activity!)!!!

Karin: glad you got finished with your book, but sorry it was just so-so writing... If I don't enjoy them I can't finish them... Glad you are feeling better though... I hate that little 'glob' that just seems to hang on forever! Have fun today discussing your book! Oh, and I'm not sure you would exactly want me to come clean... if I took as long as I did to clean MY house, you would definately think that FREE OF CHARGE was Way to much to spend! LOL!

Jill: hope DD is feeling better when you got home and the trip to UC is not necessary! Those suck big time!

I know I'm forgetting a few Peeps but will catch ya on the next go-round!

Hey JJ We posted at the same time!!! glad you are feeling better! Slow but sure is a good sign! I am having another run through BFFM today, as yesterday was just a preview through the entire program... but I am hoping that I can do all those small meals too... I was thinking that I would do an alternative and have two snacks inbetween bigger meals... but will see how it works out... I have a fridge in my office, and for the most part have a desk job, so it's just finding the time and bringing my own foods to work with me... will keep everyone posted on how it's going... I won't be using his exercise programs though... I'm doing Cathe's January rotation until STS and then go with that... I'm sure that will cover the exercise requirement nicely anyway!

Thanks, everyone, for the advice and encouragement regarding Houdini's escape issue. I also have a SuperNanny book and Nanny Jo recommends putting her to bed, and if she comes out, escorting her back and saying, "Bedtime, darling." Second time she comes out--just say "Bedtime." Third time and all subsequent times--say nothing and just put Houdini back to bed. This method takes time and patience, but she said it works on even the toughest of cases. I might try this tonight, if it's a total disaster, I'll try the baby gate but Jill raises the concern I have--Houdini is really tall and strong and my guess is she'll scale it. With the "method" I'm teaching her the behavior I want her to have. But whether that works in my house or not is another story!

Karin & Ellie--Niecy IS Clean House! Houdini loved her voice when she was really little. :) They let her have time off to flim movie projects/Reno 911, so that's when you'll see a substitute. But I read that she has no plans to give up Clean House!! Yea!!

Karin--I LOVED The Other Boelyn Girl! I actually went to a historical Tudor site after I read the book and apparently Mary Boelyn was quite a....let's say tart, shall we? Not nearly as good as the book made her to be BUT the part about her marrying that guy for love is 100 percent real...

JJ--I'm so glad your hip is feeling better! :) Yay!

Gayle--Thanks for your thoughts on the doorknob, I never thought of it that way.

Vilma--You've gotta love getting back to a structured routine, right?

Jill--Hope DD is feeling better!!!

Oops...Houdini is in the dishwasher! Gotta go BBL!
